Just because I’m not watching anything seasonal (beyond my beloved Mix), that doesn’t mean I’m not watching anything.  So, I thought I’d run down what I have been watching just for fun. My First Girlfriend Is a Gal, Sword Art Online -FULLDIVE-, Laid Back Camp, I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, and the Netflix One Piece. Hit the jump and let’s run ’em down! Continue…

Spring Anime 2024: A Wizard is never late
Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku (Train to the End of the World)
Tumblr media
If you want a reason for why this post is woefully late, it’s this show: since we’re going in ascending order of quality here, it must come first, yet I have a hard time saying anything about it. I suppose I can start with the most obvious problem: I will probably watch your original anime, but I do that to get away from light novel levels of insufferable dialogue. Yet this one definitely goes with the NisioisiN school of writing, which is to say, talk a lot first, then figure out a point at your convenience. This definitely doesn’t endear the show to me and makes it mildly annoying right from the start, but it could still be salvageable - but then Shuumatsu Train just turns out to be not particularly good at any of its selling points. For a weird show it’s not weird enough. For a comedy it’s not funny enough. For a character drama the characters are too superficial. For a profound allegory, it's much too vague. And even though the parts are hardly stellar, the result somehow still ends up as less than the sum of them. It‘s not a total write-off since at least there is some ambition here, but I really can’t say that being more meaningful than not at all is enough of a payoff for something that is mostly just basic attempts at wacky humor presented in an annoying fashion. 4/10
Yuru Camp S3
Tumblr media
So, speaking of ambition. My last contact with Yuru Camp was me getting very mad at S2‘s incessant products and services shilling. Admittedly S3 turns this down to an acceptable level, but that only makes the deeper issue more apparent: Yuru Camp is and has always been astonishingly vapid, and three seasons and a movie in all the vibes in the world can no longer make up for it. I won’t even complain that the show is no longer about camping in any meaningful capacity (since I never cared and at least the local-tourism-and-food lane we‘re in now doesn’t require purchase of specialized gear), but godammit if personality-free blobs looking at small footbridges for three episodes didn’t kill my enthusiasm for any of this mush. It‘s still broadly inoffensive, but at this point I feel like I’ve thoroughly exhausted anything this show is ever willing to offer. And Yama no Susume shows that you can have all the theoretical positives of a Yuru Camp with compelling enough characters, so there’s really no excuse. 5/10
Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai (Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night)
Tumblr media
I don’t know where this recent trend of cute but reasonably serious girl band anime came from (I would like to think MyGO, but more likely it‘s Bocchi the Rock + the most blatantly obvious and viable way to improve on Bocchi). But here is Jellyfish and uh… it certainly makes an attempt. The first impression is very positive, since Doga Kobo provides pleasant visuals (per usual), but it quickly becomes apparent that it’s the writing that is really holding this one back. It’s not even bad ideas or a lack of ideas, since the concepts this show wants to tackle are generally quite good. But pretty much every execution on those plot ideas is botched in some way, be it by resolving them in a stupidly simple way (impostor syndrome? just do your best!) or by just having a character read out their character arc really dramatically. A bunch of plot points don't even make sense when you look at them in context of the ostensibly real world this show takes place in, and the ending is a massive nothingburger. It's all stuff that's barely passable when something like Love Live does it, but in something that aims higher it seems like a first draft at best and more likely just extremely amateurish. One can only wonder if you gave such a concept to a seasoned veteran like Jukki Hanada... 6/10
Tonari no Youkai-san
Tumblr media
Tonari no Youkai-san started out as a rather simple show that I really liked: a mostly but not exclusively lighthearted depiction of a world where Youkai are real and the weird situations that can create, with likeable characters carrying it along. But then it became apparent that what it really wants to do is back-to-back KEY-style sadpiano scenarios. While those aren't bad in moderate amounts, the fact that every scenario now had to be about some heartbreaking backstory no matter what quickly became rather tiring. And then, if it wasn't apparent enough that this show was writing itself into the weeds, it capped the season off with a completely bizarre sci-fi multiverse action arc where everyone dies (very sad!) but then comes back alive because power of friendship beats entropy or something. Well, at least I prefer laughing at this nonsense to being annoyed at contrived tearjerkers, I suppose. I wouldn't call it quality though. 6/10
Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon)
Tumblr media
When the Dungeon Meshi started, I just didn't get it. The hyperbole around this show (mostly coming from manga fans, I think) was clearly not befitting a very mediocre gimmick anime where even the gimmick had been done better elsewhere multiple times. I do have to admit that as it went on, I could start to see where people were coming from: Once the cooking dies down a bit, the characters start to develop a bit and it finds its pace, Dungeon Meshi's "default mode" is an entertaining adventure anime with some nice characters, decent humor and engaging action. So far so good. However, I'll still call the show merely above average because it's in its default mode less often than you'd think. Every time I started to like something, Dungeon Meshi immediately had to head off in some random other direction that I don't care for: The cooking I did not care for in the beginning becomes vestigial but never stops taking up airtime nonetheless. The nerdy exposition about dungeon mechanics should not merit more than a footnote in a splatbook, but never stops taking up a lot of airtime nonetheless (it's also a painful reminder of the "worldbuilding over narrative" nonsense that I hate, but Dungeon Meshi isn't the worst offender here so I'll let it slide). The show expects me to care about other, far less interesting parties after I just barely mustered up enough enthusiasm to see Chilchuck as more than a spare Marcille when Marcille can't play the tsukkomi herself. Falin turns into a tragic zombie chicken. They adopt an annoying cat. It goes on and on and I'm not thrilled. I will admit though that I will likely still watch the sequel, mostly because Trigger really does a fantastic job with this adaptation on all levels, which at the very least manages to keep it watchable even in the doldrums. I just wish the source material was more consistent. 6/10
Kaiju No. 8
Tumblr media
Every season there's some random anime that isn't particularly great, but still competent enough to merit a watch. It's usually some light comedy like Torture Princess, but every once in a while it's something else. This season it's Isekai QC, but in spring it was something even less likely: Kaiju #8, a Jump-brand premium shounen. Yeah, that's a surprise. It just doesn't do anything particularly wrong, apart from the genre staples that it must do wrong: The pacing is bad, but just regular bad. The tone is all over the place, but just regular all over the place. The protagonist isn't as good as he first seems, but not as bad as he could be either. It starts out as "less miserable Attack on Titan where people shoot at huge monsters with guns at shounen powerlevel efficiency", which is extremely awkward, but eventually it settles into a more standard "hit bad guy with sick special attacks" groove, which isn't exactly exciting but at least clearly something the show wants to be. In short, nothing special but the bullshit does not exceed the maximum level I will tolerate as the price of entry to epic dudes epically fighting in an epic fashion. There always is a point with these where you have to ruthlessly cut your losses, but it did not reach it in its first season when the average genremate reaches it within the first episode. That's... something. 6/10
Nijiyon S2
Tumblr media
I wasn't even going to write about this because what is there to say about Nijiyon, except that Nijiyon is that rare mini spinoff that actually gets better and starts to outshine the main show at points. Half the time. The other half is still very basic and very arbitrary 4koma hijinks, but an improvement is an improvement. 6/10
Bartender: Glass of God
Tumblr media
Why did they make a second Bartender anime in 2024? I can't answer this conclusively but I will say that if Suntory didn't pay for at least half of this production, they got something for free. With that out of the way, the most interesting thing I can say about Bartender is how it compares to Gin & Sonic '06. The old one was certainly ambitious, but in a rather obvious way: Treating the Bartender mystique as somthing close to supernatural and presenting it in a very abstract and stagey way. This is great when it works, but just as often merely comes off as extremely pretentious. The new one... just doesn't do any of that. It's a very straightforward, simple story with actual characters and stuff. It's workable enough with some stronger and some weaker episodes, and even though it does not even attempt to reach the highs of the old one, it doesn't sniff its own farts and does its best to avoid the old man machismo stank that faintly polluted the first adaptation. So I will actually call it better in some ways, maybe even on average, but it still can't compete with a show that had a better reason to exist than to get you excited for Yamazaki whiskey. 6/10
Euphonium S3
Tumblr media
I've had my ups and downs with Yoof, and I will say that while some nags remain, I am satisfied with how it managed to (hopefully) wrap up. In fact, S3 might be the best the show has ever been. We were never going to get the cartoonish and quite frankly more entertaining presentation of S1 back, but for what it's worth, S3 takes the overcooked presentation and histrionic character writing of S2 and brings them down to a palatable level, and that makes it at least worth thinking about. Another big point in its favor is that it's now finally truly the Kumiko show, and not just the Kumiko stumbles into other people's drama show. Cast additions like Kanade and Mayu are prety great as well so yeah, I had a good time. Really my biggest complaint is that S3 might actually be a little too good at character drama, because at one point it seemed it was on the verge of starting to question a few of its core assumptions. I never expected it to have doubts over whether letting your school club control your entire existence is in fact a good thing, but ideas like Reina actually being as insane as she comes across and that Taki actually being as terrible as a teacher as he comes across seemed extremely promising. But nah, of course Kumiko just had to be honest with herself, that solved all the problems and then the show just coasted to the most predictable ending imaginable. Euphonium always seemed like it could be way better with a bit more risk-taking, but this was a particularly disappointing moment for the show to be itself. Anyway, if you just expect Euphoinum you're getting the good Euphonium here. 7/10
Girls Band Cry
Tumblr media
So, about that "Hanada writing Jellyfish" quip I made earlier? What if that actually happened, in the same season no less? Yeah, these two shows are shockingly similar but unlike Jellyfsh, Girls Band Cry does things right... for the most part. You need to get used to the somewhat janky CG animation, but you're getting some great expressiveness in the deal so that's no problem. You'll also have to put up with Hanada's trademark yuribaiting, a pretty weak ending (as if these two shows didn't already copy each other's homework enough) and music that is much too obvously coming from the Vocaloid camp for my liking. Apart from that, GBC is very good. Not quite as good as MyGO (which has even better character dynamics and I still can't get past how shockingly high its quality is for a franchise anime), but it's really close. So close in fact that I don't even feel like pointing out in detail why GBC is good, because it really is MyGO again: Very flawed yet likeable girls try to get their mental in order while swinging between goofy and depressed and occasionally making music. It's not complicated, but when the character writing delivers (i.e., by seasoned pros like Yuniko Ayana or Jukki Hanada), it just works. If this is a trend now, I'll gladly take it. 8/10

The way he has that realization of his powerlessness in this world - his family was wealthy but the moment the unrest hit and their backer was brought down, they were just sitting ducks for robbery and points.

I loved this in the novel so - that his family and friends don’t get killed by the Emperor or anything; it’s a local aristo who has not even in his wildest thoughts coveted the throne. To the emperor, the man would be a nobody. But to the Gus (and the Wangs and the Lius and the Yes) he is the end of all their worlds. It’s a brutal lesson in violence and power. That is why it is so fitting that Gu Jiusi in the novel eventually pursues military power and achieves it; this is a horrifying pointed lesson that no matter how smart, how rich you are without power you will not be allowed to prosper or even to live. (Liu Yuru becomes a mighty merchant queen whose money can support GJS in his endeavors and shore up his power but it’s a symbiotic endeavor because she would not be able to make money in peace if it wasn’t for his accumulating power. It becomes a virtuous cycle for them.)

You know, by now I think that between this and LBFAD, this screenwriter should be hired to adapt every awesome web novel. I’ve rarely seen someone do it as well as her. I am especially impressed because LBFAD was based on a novel I did not like and like Minglan or Joy of Life, I find the drama superior in part because I did not love the novel. But this - this is an adaptation of a novel that I adore and do you know how rare it is to get a worthy adaptation of a great novel? I can’t think of any recent one except for Ever Night 1 and the Untamed.

Yomi no Tsugai is almost three years old, so it's time to at least dream of an anime adaptation. So, I tried to think of who I hear when I read the manga, and came up with this list. I tried to provide video examples, but, sadly, not every seiyuu has a "{name} roles compilation" video. Also, some videos are hyperlinked because of tumblr's 10-videos-per-post limit.
Under the cut is the part of the main cast I could come up with voices for. Warning: the fact that I have only seen like three anime (is it comical exaggeration? who knows) is even more glaringly obvious here.
aaaand i'll have to repeat because this is the piss on the poor website: there's no news about the anime yet! no one is talking about it officially at the moment! it's my dream cast! who i personally imagine when i read! you absolutely can and should disagree with me and maybe share who you would like to hear as who!
Yuru IMHO, he should be voiced by male seiyuu. For example, Takeo Ootsuka (the closest to what I imagine is Oshi no Ko's Aqua).
youtube
Asa (real) Her seiyuu should be able to switch between two modes: the "cold and ruthless" mode and the "sweet teenage girl" mode, and her voice should be relatively deep. I can hear someone like Mizuki Nana (FMAB's Lan Fan, Uramichi Oniisan's Utano Tadano). I mean, Lan Fan has both of these sides.
youtube
Asa (fake) She is a sweet girl like 100% of the time, and Saori Hayami's voice (Spy x Family's Yor, Majo to Yajuu's Phanora) would fit her perfectly.
youtube
Danji (and Ken) I hear each of these guys' lines in either Megumi Ogata's voice (Shinji from NGE, Hanako from Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun), or Maaya Sakamoto's (Ciel from Black Butler, Haruhi from OHSHC). I'd say, Danji's voice in my head is closer to Shinji's.
youtube
youtube
Gab Her voice should be high-pitched. Rie Kugumiya (do I even need to) maybe? Definitely not her Al voice, but closer to her Kagura Gintama five years later voice. steal one of the brothers' look, steal the other's voice :D
youtube
Left She probably should have the deepest voice compared to the rest of the female cast. I'd probably choose someone like Romi Paku (but not her Ed Elric voice; her Kill la Kill's Ragyou Kiryuuin or Black Butler's Madam Red voice. Or something in between; god, this woman's vocal range...).
youtube
I also thought about Shouko Tsuda (Izumi from FMA and FMAB; Martha from Spy x Family), but couldn't find a video.
Right Someone like Rikiya Koyama (Lum's father from Urusei Yatsura 2022, Neptune Shoukaku from Gintama (beware of spoilers in this example). He should sound like one of these two characters, not like, for example, Fukuzawa BSD <- unbelievable that these three have the same seiyuu).
Dera Sugita Tomokazu. Is it because he voiced Gintoki, another morally dubious badass fighter guy who sees a kid, asks "who's gonna adopt them" and doesn't wait for an answer, and then goes to spend all of his money on gambling? Maybe. Oh, he's also voiced Kyon from Haruhi Suzumiya and Joseph Joestar. (god, his voice is too recognizable)
youtube
Hana Satsuki Yukino (FMAB!Rosé, Tae from Gintama, Kagome from InuYasha). Yes, it's because of Tae. Both Tae and Hana are 1) pretty (and) dangerous, and 2) the best girls of their respective manga. Also, her voice just fits. Another option would be Marina Inoue (TTGL's Yoko Littner, Gintama's Ikeda Asaemon, SZS's Kitsu Chiri <- another best girl, what an unbelievable coincidence)
youtube
Jin His voice should be deep, that's what I'm certain of. He also should sound like he's permanently very, very, very tired of everything. I think of someone like Hosoya Yoshimasa (Kunikida BSD, Reiner AOT). The videoo with examples does not provide any example of tiredness, but does provide an example of a deep voice.

THE YURU PEOPLE, Who are they? (1176)
Tumblr media
The short answer, an aboriginal people of Australia. The more restrictive reply is that the Juru people, also known as Yuru, are a group of Aboriginal people of the state of Queensland, Australia. Wikipedia
Some history, however, my focus is on the  genocide of Indigenous Australians, that is, the systematic and deliberate actions taken primarily by European colonisers and their descendants, particularly during the 18th to the 20th centuries, aimed at eradicating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, languages, and people. Motivations for the genocide varied, and included motivations aimed at preserving a "white Australia",or assimilating Indigenous populations "for their own good".
Tumblr media
The genocide of Indigenous Australians includes mass killings during the frontier wars, forced removals of children (now known as the Stolen Generations), and policies of forced assimilation by the Australian Government that sought to extinguish Indigenous Australian identity and cultural practices. Some historical background

Quigley Down Under is a 1990 western film directed by Simon Wincer and starring Tom Selleck as the American cowboy sharpshooter, Matthew Quigley. In the movie, Quigley is hired by an Australian rancher and faces unexpected challenges when he arrives Down Under. Wikipedia
The movie is great and it has a startling scene depicting the massacre of indigenous Australian people.

Weekly seasonal anime thoughts
Yuru Camp S3E05: this was another soul-healing episode! Nadeshiko, Rin and Ayano have finally met up and their cooking session really made me hungry haha! I really love these 3 and their group dynamic! 🏕️
The Many Sides of Voice Actor Radio Ep4: this is probably my favorite episode so far! I love it when plot points come together in a satisfying way! While I do wish the buildup for the “reveal” was handled a bit better, I did loved seeing Satou risking her career to stand up for Watanabe and for her herself.
This episode also highlighted the issue of parasocial interactions that fans have with their idols. It’s a scary thing and I hope that stalker guy won’t become a problem in the future. I look forward to see where the story will go next since I stopped reading the manga at this point!
Hibike! Euphonium S3E04: this episode really hits home that Kumiko and the others have become senpais now. Seeing Midori and Kumiko try to help out Motomo with his family issues was great. I also loved the scene where Reina praises the first-year for doing a good job.
Kanade continues to be a menace in her own way and seeing Mayu deal with her was actually pretty funny haha.
Dungeon Meshi EP17-18: the full reveal of Falin Chimera gave me chills! To be honest, I had the same reaction as Laios. I know it’s bad that she’s killing people but she’s just so cool. It’s sad that Falin has to go through something like this though. It wasn’t her fault…
Laios and Shuro’s fight was pretty intense. I’ve seen arguments for both sides and I think that both sides have valid reasons. It’s a matter of communication and how these two have different perceptions of the other. If they talk it out, I’m sure they’ll come to an understanding.
In EP17, it’s kinda sad that the others have little faith in Laios but in the end, he was the only one who was able to identify the imposters. The scene where Laios did the dog impression was hilarious though 😂
Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night Ep5: omg, this episode was amazing!!! I love how the show dealt with Mahiru’s insecurities and jealousy when faced with someone that’s better than her. Social media also played a major role in putting pressure on Mahiru.
It really showed how one anonymous comment can affect an artist’s mindset. I’m glad that Mahiru has Kano’s support. Mahiru’s art inspired Kano and now she’s returning through favour in her own way. It is absolutely wonderful! I love this show so much!
Whisper Me a Love Song Ep4: Himari and Yori’s tentative relationship are being tested in different ways. Yori gets jealous over the news that Himari joined the cooking club and is hanging out with another senpai. Meanwhile, Himari gets shocked when Aki confesses her feelings for Yori.
Things are starting to get interesting for our girls so I’m excited (even though I know what happens next haha).

Nowaday I just find it very funny on the fact that I has encounter so many thing that coulda break my shell like:
Favorite animes before my egg broke: LWA, Flip Flapper, Zombieland Saga, Kill La Kill, Princess Principal, Yuru camp,Bodacious Space Pirates(which I has to noted is my young childhood favorite), Izetta: The Last Witch, The place further than the universe, release the spyce, and few other I can’t remember
Lot of Yuri mangas and mangas like New Game!
The fact “New Game!” Is the one kick off my life path to wanting to make arts and games and stuff
Daily go on dyntasy reader
LOVED the shit out of barbies movies and MLP
Frozen was my favorite movie for some time
Alway wanted to watch Sailor Moon but felt that I shouldn’t for some reasons when I was little
Had awaking of the fact that Yuri is just better(pretty sure Kase-san is the one to open my eye to yuri)
Making myself feminine af when I thought of my future self
That one time I has like a deep daydream of what it would like to be a girl for a day
Would love to has shapeshift power and be a girl “for some reasons”
The first porn I ever found was two husky af gay furry just RAW fucking each other
UNDERTALE was my hyperfixation for some time
What it took was listening to raison d'etre by Eve, crying, and having a existential crisis in the bathroom.

I did not think they were going to keep this bit from the novel but they did. (Pls also let her kill the fucker like in the novel and eventually end up happily married to a good man like in the novel.)
I found what the narrative did with Ye Shi’an in the novel (and the drama is tracking it) so nifty. We first “meet” him as the local paragon - the best scholar, the most educated and with fanciest manners, the one all the young ladies want to marry and the parents tell their children to be like. And he’s the one Liu Yuru wants and plans to marry. In most any other novel he’d either be a noble secondary lead, pining for the heroine or turn out to be crazy/unworthy and a villain to be overcome. The novel does neither and I will eternally love that. Ye Shi’an never loved Liu Yuru tho he was fine with marrying her. He never falls in love for her, tho he admires her brains and guts and is grateful to her for eventually saving him and his sister. He has his own life and his own concerns and his own story, which sometimes intersects with our OTP and sometimes does not. Because he is a real person, not a prop in a romance. (Side note - I will always be amused by GJS’ super power of making bros with everyone - he made bros with the future emperor but also two men who were in some capacity after his wife at some point - Ye Shi’an, the former suitor is crazy enough but the bandit leader who kidnapped Yuru being hired as part of plot to bring GJS down and then going “marry me instead” is definitely something else! I love that the bandit leader didn’t pine either btw, he went oh you are not interested and your husband is cool OK we are done now.)
But anyway, this is such a horror - Ye Yun is raped, her brother made to grovel to her rapist to save her - and once again all that matters is naked power. Ye Yun was an aristocratic legitimate daughter, the treasure of her house. Ye Shi’an was the scholar prodigy respected and admired. And none of it means anything in front of a man who can kill them or play with them or do anything he damn well pleases because he has the power of violence on his side.

period on its way so i need to be bitchy rn or i'll die. so as to not end up getting upset At anyone here's what i think about the army costuming in episodes 26-28 of (sadly short 40 episode long) cdrama chang feng du also known as destined.
this will make sense if you havent seen it but there are spoilers. and also it's bitchy commentary. read if you want this is for me tho
the costumes themselves are of course very well-made. the armies are nice and easy to distinguish from one another. there's four of them!
is our protagonists' army of a rapidly-diminishing 10,000, already guarding wangdu. the commanders of this one are our boy gu jiusi, and also ye shi'an and shen ming. shen ming is the only one of these three who is wearing the armour of wangdu, actually - the other two are dressed... differently. shen ming and the rest of the army are in a nice and cool black metal on black cloth combo - i always love when the heroes are in all black, it makes me happy!
is the defenders of wangdu, the 20,000 troops in zhou ye's hands. they were taken away from the coming battle to join the main forces of the youzhou army attempting to [sighs at plot changes due to censorship] Save The Emperor. anyway. these are one set of reinforcements and they are nice and cool in silver metal on dark blue cloth. so far so good - nice and easy to tell apart the two armies, what could be the problem? oh it's not with these guys, actually zhou ye has never done anything wrong in his life.
is the unexpected army of bingzhou, led by qin wanzhi who is the best. she's so cool. while the guys are busy having a solemn and history-laden reunion she's busy getting to the gates of the city and killing every guy currently breaking through them. i love her. but anyway their army is in silver metal over cloth of a nice deep red, making them the next-coolest after wangdu's black on black.
enemy time! the rebel prince, king liang is in charge of a cool 100,000 and they are all kitted up. these guys are very striking when theyre arrayed against a tiny hopeless city and they are wearing gold metal armour over bright red cloth. ah, you think you see the problem, right - two armies in red! nah that shit's fine, the metal provides the contrast, the two reds aren't super similar, and bingzhou normally act as a smaller force doing specific, clearly identifiable actions, such as the gate thing. nah, similarity between armies isn't the problem, what is?
the fucking commanders of wangdu.
SO. big battlefield shots are fun, but they make it hard to figure out where our special little characters are. are they in the part that just exploded, or are they fine? enquiring minds etc.
costumers solution: give those bitches different armour.
this is normal, this is fine, this has some historical basis - the guys on the field need to know where their commanders are. now, most of our commanders are wearing the same colours as their soldiers and are visibly distinguished in different ways. shen ming has different weapons, zhou ye has slightly different metalwork (and also is always in focus or on a horse) and qin wanzhi is both helmetless and often-shouting, with an easily distinguished voice.
gu jiusi and ye shi'an, however...
well. well.
(firstly, context - ye shi'an is the pure scholarly type who our leading lady, liu yuru, grew up wanting to marry. then he went through trauma and now he's a pure scholarly type with a gun bow and arrow. gu jiusi is our leading man and the one yuru actually married. arguably twice.)
ye shi'an, being a pure scholarly type, is naturally in armour of Pure White. white metal white cloth and white bow and arrow. whatever, baby, you can wear what you like. not sure where he got it, but good for him. he can be mistaken for absolutely nobody else. he can also be targeted so so easily, but. that's allowed. if he wants to do that he can.
gu jiusi, though.
hey, man, what the fuck are you wearing, bro.
oh, gold armour on red cloth? bright red cloth? the same shade as the rebel army's red fucking cloth?
WHY.
WHY BRO.
he is so hard to tell apart from them in big battlefield scenes!! most of episode twenty seven is big battlefield scenes. AT LEAST CHANGE TO THE FUCKING BLACK CLOTH DUMBASS.
...
....
........
phew.
okay to be clear i know why - one of the other fights is nighttime storming of the walls - he and ye shi'an are the only guys in bright colours on the walls for most of that, it's very striking, and even when the enemy soldiers do get up there the camera focus is close enough to the action that there's no confusion. it makes sense for him to be in exclusive bright colours.
also he and his wife do a romantic little vow renewal right before the main action (it's romantic bc theyre talking about how doomed-to-death they are) and she's in a red not-technically-a-wedding-dress-bc-this-is-the-not!song-dynasty dress and gold jewellery. they have to match.
so my real question is why is the rebel army in those colours. who decided this.
