[Zain, really, I don't think--]

[I just worry about you being by yourself,] Zain explained. [And besides, it's been five years since Maysa left.]

[I'll go out, if you're that worried,] Salim soothed him, [but I make no promises about any new 'friends'.]

Besides, he already had a new “friend” that he couldn't get off his mind. Of course, Jason wasn't exactly the same sort of “friend” Zain was alluding to, but he was also more than just a passing acquaintance. Salim didn't really know how to categorize his relationship with the marine. If he only knew how Jason was doing, it would ease a burden on his mind.

How was he going to contact the man? All he knew were names-- nothing about where Jason and the others were stationed or how long their tour was meant to last. Remembering Jason's comment about getting a drink when they were topside, Salim grasped at the flimsy straw and went bar-hopping. Salim only meant to look for the marine, instead sitting down and drinking. When he got home he was a little drunk but not any closer to knowing what happened to Jason.

Salim ended up falling asleep on the couch. At some point he heard a knock at the door. Groggy and hung over, Salim staggered to his feet. He had the irrational thought that it was Jason on the other side. Excited, Salim hurried to answer. He deflated when he saw it was just his neighbor.

[Please turn out your light,] he was scolded. [It's past midnight.]

Salim apologized and turned off his lights. Of course it wasn't Jason. How would the American even know where Salim lived? He really needed to get that man out of his mind. This ache in his chest, this pining for someone Salim knew for mere hours…

— JASON KOLCHEK: to say he is jealous is an understatement. As soon as he sees someone hitting on you, he pulls you closer and kisses you passionately. Zain Othman

1. Zain is the reason why his father fought this hard to go back home. He is also going to University in London, which can be though considering he will have to move away from his home country but also impressive because not everyone can have the opportunity to do so. I have been obsessing over these 3 specific AUs for days now so I decided to sketch out the general gist just to free myself from these thoughts lol

I'm generally weak for my favorite pairings having kids that look and act like them.
