This is my first time ever writing for Yume x Zenos, so I hope you all enjoy!! A HUGE shout out to all who have been so encouraging and supportive of me while I navigate this new ship, especially @meepsthemiqo!! Thank you so much!!

As the two combatants channeled as much aether into their punches as they could, Yume Aino, Warrior of Light, got the upper hand and delt the disgraced Garlean prince a devastating blow. The enshrouded Zenos viator Galvus flew backwards, flipped over and landed face first onto the ground.

Though she could hardly catch her breath, and feeling an overwhelming amount of pain in her chest and abdomen, likely due to cracked ribs and internal bleeding, she quickly surmised, Yume pushed the pain from her conscious mind as much as she could as she slowly dragged her broken form closer to her opponent.

Zenos managed to get up onto his knees and reached out his hand to her, but too much of his life force had been spent and he instead dropped back to ground, this time facing the firmament. A moment later, Zenos’ enshrouded form dissipated from the majority of his body, but his left arm was still twisted with bright red flesh, reminiscent of a voidsent.

The samurai stood close enough to Zenos’ fallen form that she could see him open his eyes as he deeply sighed, “That I should lose again...”

With a chuckle, he closed his eyes before he dejectedly said, “How disappointing.”

Yume shook her head and questioned, “Did you though? Heh… I do not feel victorious.”

“Is that so?”

Before she could say anything more, Yume collapsed under her own weight, falling down right next to Zenos, her hand mere ilms away from his.

She looked over at him, and though her vision had begun to slightly blur, she saw his sky blue eyes aimed upward towards the heavens, yet by the look on his face, she knew his mind was drifting, to where she knew naught.

Zenos must’ve sensed that her focus was upon him, as he began to speak his thoughts aloud.

“Never have I understood those around me. Understood their obsessions.” He paused a moment, the memories of his life floating in and out of consciousness as he continued, “Besieged by their banality, the world was a mire of tedium and trivialities.”

Yume could swear that his eyes shifted to her face briefly, yet the pain was nearly unbearable and it was a struggle to keep listening, let alone to see properly.

The Garlean’s deep, rough voice reached her horns once more; this time she could hear a hint of joy in his tone. “But in these fleeting moments, there is...a spark. Blinding, brilliant... Gone...too soon...”

She let out a small sigh. “Yes… I understand.”

Yume had enough visual clarity to see Zenos turn towards her, trying to catch his breath as blood ran out of his mouth and trickled down his face.

“What of you, Yume, my mirror? Born into this world, bestowed name, bid to seek out strife and adventure...”

Yume turned towards Zenos as much as she could, though it was increasingly difficult to keep her eyes open. As she shut her eyes, the pain that racked her whole body started to slowly fade away, and in turn, her mind’s eye began to wander.

“Was this life a gift...or a burden?”

Her mind wandered to her childhood in Hingashi, images began to rise to her conscious mind and soon fall away to the next; Mt. Aino rising up to the sky, its peak surrounded by clouds, flags flying of the Aino clan’s sigil, the seemingly endless multitudes of people bowing to her father, the duels that always ended with her victory yet with no worthy husband, her slicing her belly open and her father coming to stop her, and her leaving her homeland behind for lands unknown.

“Did you find...fulfillment?” Zenos asked as Yume’s mind continued to wander through the memories of her life.

Images floated to the surface of her new life in Eorzea; her arrival in Limsa Lominsa, first adventuring in Ul’dah, fighting Ifrit, joining the Scions, meeting all of whom she would now consider her found family, going on to fight so many primals, so many Garleans, then the dragons, and then the sin eaters, and finally the blasphemies and then the Endsinger. One victory after another, always more victories, and yet, she still felt the same emptiness as before.

“Did I? Did I… really?” Yume wondered aloud, as her mind flashed to images not of memories of real events as before, but of the dreams that haunted her off and on again for years. Dreams of adventure in far off places she had never experienced before, always with a steadfast companion by her side through all the battles and hardships to come, but also celebrating moments of pure joy and true happiness; she sees the scene of an eternal bonding, realizing that it was in fact her own. Yume gleaming in a white dress, joined hand in hand with the love of her life, sealing their bond with a kiss full of passion and love. Yet, she couldn’t not see her lover’s face. Always was her lover’s face shrouded in shadow. She knew that these must be visions of a future not yet written, and now may never come to pass.

Yume knew in her heart that she was a samurai, and there was no greater honor than to die an honorable death in battle. That was a comforting thought. And yet… it was not enough. She asked herself the same question that Zenos had just asked. Right now, in what could well be her final moments in this life, was she fulfilled? Did she find what she had been looking for in all these years of searching?

With a single tear falling from her eye, Yume answered her beaten opponent’s poignant question, “No… Not yet… There is so much left to experience…”

As the words passed her lips, she heard only a single sound from the man laying next to her.

“I...”

What followed was nothing but silence and darkness, as her vision was failing her, and she could not see nor hear him anymore. Was he still there? Or was it too late?

“Z-Zenos…?” Yume spoke his name aloud as she lifted her hand, reaching out for his. She soon found it, but tears instantly began to fall from her eyes as his skin felt cold in hers.

“No… Do not… leave me…alone…”

Yume gripped his cold hand with the last remains of her energy. If she was to die, then she wanted to die with him, the only man who would ever be worthy of her in her family’s eyes. The only person who could ever understand her, who saw all of her, her beauty and her ugliness, her strengths and her weaknesses, her determination and her doubts. Everyone else only saw the light, but he saw the darkness that she hid deep inside, and he was unafraid. In fact, he welcomed it, and drew it out of her, and made her feel unashamed of herself for the first time in her life.

No. Zenos was the only one that she deemed worthy. If she was to die, then she will die having made her own choice. And she chooses him. Her enemy… her love….

As she felt her consciousness slipping away from her, Yume heard a faint clanging of metal, and then as she still held Zenos’ hand, she felt them both being whisked away, and then arrive in another place.

Yume felt nothing, and she could see nothing, but the very faintest of sounds reached her horns.

“Oh… Yume!”

Was that… Astrid’s voice? Was she back in the ship? Was she in the Ragnarok with the others?

“Yume! And… Zenos?!”

That could only be the exclamations of Arslan, confirming that she had in fact been teleported back to the ship, and Zenos had arrived with her, though if he was alive or dead, Yume did not know.

“Can you hear... Say...” Estinien’s voice called out, though it was incredibly difficult to make sense of what he had said.

Yume heard more voices, Urianger, Y’shtola, Alphinaud and Alisaie, but she couldn’t seem to understand what they were saying at all.

With the last of her strength, Yume opened her eyes enough to see her vision blurred so badly that she couldn’t make out any faces, but she finally spotted her target: a shock of pink entered her sight, and she knew she had found the only person who had a chance of saving him. If anyone could do it, it’d be her.

“H-Hali…” Yume spoke with the last of her breath, “Save… him… p-please…”

As the words left her lips, Yume closed her eyes and let the darkness pass over her. Life or death, she knew not what awaited her. It was out of her hands now.

ZENO STARRYSHARKS BIG FAQ. YAY

this is gonna go over all the questions people ask me about my art, OCs, etc etc ^^ starting with -

ART QUESTIONS:

Q: WHAT DO YOU USE TO DRAW?

A: ibispaint x on shitty samsung. no stylus just my fingers. very occasionally (and not in several months now) i will use MS paint with a wacom tablet and pen!

Q: WHAT BRUSHES DO YOU USE?

A: main lineart pens are love pen and dip pen (hard) on a 60-80% opacity. when i do my pencil style i use hard mapping pen (bleed).

Q: HOW DO YOU DO THAT SCREENTONE THING?

A: this PNG.

you're gonna place the png over where you want to add a halftone, and then lasso that area. then, click "invert selection area", and erase over the halftone layer. it should only be left on the area you wanted it to be on. you can change the color with alpha lock.

Q: HOW DO YOU COLOR SO WELL?

Q: HOW DO YOU DRAW DIFFERENT BODY TYPES?

A: it's kinda complicated because i myself believe that i have poor body diversity when it comes to my original characters, but i'll try to explain myself. by a general rule, contrast is most important. top-heavy, bottom-heavy, larger lower limbs, smaller lower limbs, etc etc etc it's all in the contrast baybe. let's use nova (a skinny character), pins (a top-heavy character), and novocaine (a fat character) as examples. please ask me directly if you want any advice on other body types.

firstly, nova. she is very thin with a more scrawny build rather than athletic. to draw her, there are three parts (excluding arms) -

head, body and legs.

these are parts that almost every character has and the most important thing about them is their size. different characters will have different sized heads and bodies and legs as we'll see later, based on age, body type, etc... nova is only a teen, so she'll have a big head with big eyes to up the childish moe-factor of her design! other than that, she's pretty proportionate by anime standards with a regular sized body and long legs.

however for a character like pins a lot changes. pins is extremely top heavy, and larger than nova. he has a muscular build that's heavily unrealistic - while there's probably someone out there with a similar build to nova absolutely nobody can achieve the elusive pins build. because his body is so exaggerated, it must be the forefront, and he has small legs and a small head to compensate.

because i have few muscles in my oc roster, i tend to exaggerate the buffest characters. i would give another example but his existence is spoilers for the project he belongs to. ;;

when it comes to fat characters, i have little to say for dudes because i don't draw them often (sorry fat guy enthusiasts 💔). but novocaine is an example of how i go about drawing fat girls. namely it all comes back to contrast - rather than drawing her ankles and lower arms larger, i draw them smaller to emphasise the size of her thighs, hips and upper arms as when it comes to irl fat people, those parts are usually larger. i also added more examples from my dangan art.

ULTIMATE X-CALIBUR - sci-fi adventure comic about a girl called nova who travels across the galaxy with her friends to find the shards of a broken star called the ultimate x-calibur. like one piece but with cute kemonomimis in space.

REASSASSINATION - horror comedy comic about a dead girl who loses her memories after being resurrected by a manic scientist. she becomes his personal assassin in order to get shots of medicine that will bring back her memories, and has to deal with school life and a mysterious group of catholics coming to kill her on top of that. it's currently being written and will come out eventually.

STARSAINTS CARNIVAL - psychorror (kinda) fantasy RPG game about a group of children who are transported to an wonderland-esque paracosm where they have to make their own wishes come true before their 13th birthdays with the help of ghosts named starsaints, or risk having their heads chopped off. it's one of my largest-scale pet projects so will probably take a while to wrangle.

LESSER/EARLY DEV PROJECTS:

(AKA the ones that are either too early in development to confirm anything, or will probably not be fully realised any time soon, but it's still fun to rotate the characters around in my mind.)

MAGICAL GIRL WARD - another psychorror magical girl comic about a group of girls who who plan a group suicide online, but are turned into magical girls on accident and have to fight "viruses" to help other girls. very messy in terms of development right now and will take a while.

METALLIC MIRACLE - sci-fi about a child solider cyborg who is sent back to earth after being in a deep sleep for some 50 years after a war she was forced to fight in. i actually really wanna do this one.

SINSTRING MANOR - survival horror RPG game about a doll who finds out she's a doll attempts to escape her family home and gain autonomy with the help of a fly and a servant boy.

PLANET☆PIGTAIL - magical girl comic about girls who channel magic through their pigtails to defeat evil monsters while dealing with middle school problems.

YOTD x Yona’s Younger Sister!Reader Part 1 Hak + Yona + Yoon + Zeno + Kija

Yona

Back at the castle before the Kings death Yona wouldn't talk to you. To be fair you’d never approach her since you'd also had your own schedule.

This made you two pretty distant regardless of your close blood relations

Though it all changed after the death of the king.

Absolute princess treatment by the one and only princess!

She’s extremely protective of you, always holding your hand no matter where you went.

Being the last of her close family she fears losing you.

The time you were poisoned and fell into a coma she was besides the entire time holding your hand, almost breaking into tears.

Would absolutely want to teach you self defense, and would even beg Haks to help teach you.

Yona would try to remain tough in-front of you, but you always saw through her act, giving her a big comforting hug. She absolutely adored you for that, and begun being more honest with her feelings to you.

Though you two looked similar she’d always compliment and touch your hair,

“Wahh, it’s so silky and smooth!”.

In conclusion! Yona would be the best big sister ever 🫂

Hak

At the palace you two only knew each other by name,

Only running into each other when Hak would be assigned to your section of the palace.

The day that the King died when Hak and Yona were escaping they found you peaking out of your room.

He was quick on herding you and your sister into a protected blob,

And at that moment he made a promise to not only protect Yona but you as well.

Though after finding the dragons and going through adventures together he’d frequently tease you.

Regardless of his harsh teasing, he still cared, and protected you.

“Hey shrimp! Be careful!”

In his eyes you were like a puppy. Walking around smiling while unknowingly falling into danger.

It gave him a lot of stress.

He’d always keep you in the corner of his eye, appearing out of no where whenever you need him.

You’d trip on a rock falling towards your impending doom when out of no where Hak would hoist you back up on to your feet

“Tsk, you weren't listen huh, I said be careful!”

Whenever you'd go missing or get injured he’d take it personally, and throw a tantrum

As in get his hands dirtied with the blood of those who did you wrong..

Though Hak would never admit it, he’d actually developed a big soft spot for you in his heart.

So pretty much a mean but secretly soft older brother🤼‍♀️

Yoon

Honestly the first time he saw you he was a bit upset.

Not only did he have to deal with one spoiled princess but two! Oh.. the tragedy for this sassy pretty boy :((

But the closer he got to Yona the closer he got to you.

Actually Yoon would start playing favorites-

Whenever he cooked a meal and you’d ask him for more he’d immediately give in, and huff almost as if you had forced him to. (which you didn't, you asked nicely)

“F-fine! Take it!” He’d puff

Like the mom he was he would scold you whenever you’d leave the camp alone searching for firewood.

Though every time you showed him of how capable you were he'd ignore the evidence and pull up with the "BUT WHAT IF?" counter claim. Stubborn man doesn't stop INSISTING for you to take a battle buddy

The day you joined the pirate crew and had to prove your worth by climbing the cliff with Yona he had nearly collapsed

He was absolutely opposed to putting his sweet summer child into danger, immediately throwing a fuss when the idea was proposed

Whenever he saw you break out into a fever he’d worry THE MOST

After treatment he’d sit and watch over you a long side Yona.

And whenever you needed him he’d always be there, no matter how far or impossible, this man absolutely adored you.

Though his too much of a sas to admit it he really cares for you, and his heart melts whenever your around. ❤️

Kija

Was honestly confused by your existence LOL, he wasn’t sure if he was suppose to serve you..? or be indifferent..? I mean you had red hair but uh???

In the end though he didn’t settle for any of those options… he settled on having a crush LOL

Whenever you spoke to him he’d completely meltdown into a puddle, his words becoming intangible.

“Y-y-YEs! H—ow.. uh uh- C-can I he-elp!” He’d stutter out turning bright red,

“Uh.. Kija you ok?” You’d tilt your head in confusion before Kija would only squeak in response, and bolt away.

In the end though Kija had decided to protect you, and respect you.

Whenever the situation would turn dangerous a switch would flip and he’d suddenly have the courage to be near you.

Though if he saw even just a drop of your blood he’d immediately panic and rush towards you, tears prickling in his eyes

You’d have to hug and comfort him before he’d stop panicking and crying-

Please be nice to him! He doesn’t know how to approach his crush but his trying his very best LOL-

Zeno

The first time he had a proper conversation with you he was completely struck through the heart.

*grabs* your my friend now!

And from that point onwards whenever you’d approach Zeno his eyes would shine even brighter and his cheeks would turn flush 😊

Also he'd become more petty, and sarcastic to others when the subject became you.

"Hey! Whacha up to." He'd beam

The boy would never leave you alone, following you around with a big smile

"Zeno do you need something?"

"Nope!"

You kinda just let him do his thing, silently following you as you worked on making a fire.

Zeno always tried making attempts at small talk.

He really just wanted your attention, as well as to hear your voice

His clingy needs probably stems from his past. He didn't want to waste a single moment without being near you.

"Nope! Sorry, I want them to do it!"

The most frustrating and stubborn man, would always want YOU to do things for him, otherwise he'd all together refuse what's given to him.

You had your sweet moments though, he'd take the time to make flower crowns, and give you cute little homemade gifts.

And you had to admit, the boy had the prettiest, and brightest smile, so it was always a blessing for you to see him happy.

Hello! I have a request for Valentines day letter event! I would like one with Shin ah from Akatsuki no Yona x fem reader. I don't mind about pet names, so it's your choice. We’re in an established relationship for a few years (maybe we lived in the same village, friends since we were teenagers and now we are a couple, reader is in the Yona's team too). I want to see it fluff. You know, Shin ah is soo shy and doesn't know how to impress his feeling to reader with words and he writes her a letter about his true feelings, like everything he can't tell by words. Location: anywhere, somewhen while our adventure. I feel that he will silently give the letter to the reader before splitting into 2 teams. That's everything! Note: Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you enjoy your letter from Shin-ah! This was one of my favorites to write &lt;3

Yona had suggested to the group to split up in the upcoming village so they wouldn’t get too many suspicious glances. There were already enough bold individuals in your group, so low profile clothes and hats to cover their colorful hair was a start to concealing your identities.

You were set to go off with Zeno, Hak, and Yona while Jae-ha, Kija, Yun, and Shin-ah went the other way. You had wanted to be in the same group as your boyfriend, Shin-ah, but when you brought it up, you could see his ears go red behind his mask as he quickly shook his head.

Slightly disappointed, you let it go, but you couldn’t understand why he didn’t want to split up with you in his group, was he upset with you? 

Just as you’re about to head in the direction your  group was set to go in, you feel a tug on your sleeve, and spin around to see Shin-ah. There’s a piece of paper rolled up and tied nicely in his hands which he quickly hands to you. He holds your hand briefly, giving it a squeeze before he runs back to his group. Jae-ha watches him with a teasing smile, smacking him on the back once Shin-ah reaches him, causing the blue-haired man to rush away from him quickly.

You can’t help the fond smile that appears on your lips, turning your attention back to the paper in your hands. Yona tells the group to start walking, which you all do, and you begin to unroll the paper and read its contents as you walk, careful not to trip over anything;

My Star,

Jae-ha told me that today was a day where men and women in his old village would come together and tell each other how much they love one another. Showing extra love, exchanging letters, and buying gifts for the one they love. I wanted to do the same, so here is my letter to start with. I’m not very good with my words, so hopefully I can convey my heart's passion for you in this writing instead.

If I am the moon, then you are my star. My sun, igniting me and giving me the light that I now have. Without you, I’m nothing but a dark mass, void of anything. Invisible to others until your light reaches me once more. My star, you shine brightly always, drawing everyone in and leaving your warmth behind. 

You were my hope back in our old village when I was hidden away. Never allowing me to be on my own and treating me like a human being the entire time when others saw me as nothing but a monster. You encouraged me to finally be free from the shackles I placed on myself and helped me experience true happiness in our new group. I don’t know how or why you decided to be my other half, but it is something I will always be grateful for. 

I know I’m not good at saying these things to you. I still can’t find my voice or courage to use it as much as I’d like. One day, I’d like to say all these beautiful things to your face as you hear me say them. I promise I will, just give me more time to find my courage.

You can’t control the silent tears that flow from your eyes, landing on the paper in your hands as you read over his words, two then three and four more times. No one had ever done something so romantic before. You didn’t even know he had these beautiful words about you in his heart, but you were beyond happy to read them. Perhaps the quiet ones really are secretly the most passionate. 

You tuck the note safety into your bag that was slung around you, wiping the stray tears from your eyes as you smile to yourself. You couldn’t wait to meet back up with your group so you could show your lover some of your own love for him.

You all safely make it through the village, stopping at some stalls for food or other resources that we needed to continue our journey. Yun was probably stopping in the other group to get medical supplies and other necessities he’d need as well. It didn’t take too long before you met up at your designated location, waiting for the other group to arrive.

And that’s when you see him. A sliver of blue hair beyond the trees with the rest of his group, walking towards you. You can’t help the explosion of emotions inside you, as you run the rest of the way towards him, straight into his arms, making him lose his balance for a moment before he holds you, steadying himself.

You grin from ear to ear, leaning in to press a kiss to his exposed lips,

“Your letter was beautiful, Shin-ah,” you whisper against his lips, you feel his arms tighten around you as you speak. “Thank you. I love you so much”

You see a hint of pink reach his cheeks as he lets you go and digs around in the pocket inside the cloak he was wearing to disguise himself, pulling out some flowers.

“I found them on our walk here,” he says softly, handing them to you. “I love you, too”

Your shy lover was not only sweet, but incredibly thoughtful and 1000000% yours.

Riol x WoL

Listen, I just have so many feelings about Riol and Alannah. He was a haven for her and a steady, calm presence removed from her daily life when she badly needed one. Ultimately they weren't meant to be, they drifted apart because she was struggling to deal with the heavy burdens of her role as WoL, the threat of Zenos, and being liaison to every gotdang nation known to man. They both have regrets about it, but acknowledge that they only had a brief moment and the moment has passed.

Leofard x Alannah

I don't have any substantial headcanons for this ship, except that I love the idea of them bonding over a love of the open sky, soaring on the air currents, and adventure. This is entirely predicated on my idea that white mages with a particular affinity for wind (i.e. Alannah) can actually fly by manipulating air flow. No I don't care if anyone agrees with me.

You're a patient with a rare disease being treated by Doctor Fandaniel. In that time, he becomes a little too attached to you and your case. He believes your medical issues are fully curable given the proper resources and time, but isn't getting approved for that sort of experimental treatment. Realizing that the hospital, your family, and the medical field in general are just going to let you die, Hermes takes things (namely, you) into his own hands. Essentially, Hermes kidnaps you so he can personally treat you with the stated goal of saving your life and obviously no other ulterior motives.

Zenos viator Galvus x f!WoL reader - Post Endwalker AU

This one strays far enough from canon that I'm not sure I could do it justice, but I like the idea nonetheless. Zenos's third life begins in a prison. You, physically and mentally drained by everything that has happened, are his savior and his warden. In your attempt to understand him, your dark mirror, you open yourself up to a whole lot of uncomfortable baggage a hero shouldn't carry, and to being understood, convincing Zenos to consider a new perspective. Unfortunately, understanding a monster doesn't make him any less monstrous, no matter what misguided ideals your adventures have taught you so far... All of this to say that when he escapes, he's no longer preoccupied with fighting you.

On a quiet mana holy-day, Yujo visits some friends for the first time since she returned from the edge of the universe.

"Hey Guys."

Yujo stood in front of a grid of graves- each one etched with a name of a victim of the waking sands masacare- and prayed in her traditional yevonite prayer as the sounds of camp drybone buzzed in the distance.

"So. You might have wondered where I vanished to, but could you belive I was in space of all places?"

This was a ritual that Yujo had started around the time Ala Mhigo and Doma won their indipendnce back from Garlemald. Being surrounded by such carnage and having been half a yalm from away from dying several times by that point, had an effect on the lalafell.

What she would do on the last mana holy-day of the moon was go to the Church of Saint Adama Landama and tend to the lichyard. Lliud had insisted she be paid for her services but she naturally refused. Part of it was that she didn't feel right taking money for doing something she was doing out of the good of her heart- this something in particular, rather- and the other was the fact that it offered her a chance to talk to the friends that were intered or, for a lack of actual remains, had a headstone placed in their memory.

She would often spend the time tending to the masacare victim's graves speaking of her adventures and tales of daring do. This time, the first since she had been discharged from her recovery from her final fight with Zenos, she had taken to speaking of the adventure she and the surviving scions had in the deeps of space.

The time flew by as she told of the sprits of dragons, creatures that had become importal but grasped desperately for a chance to die, robo-men who were lead to entropy by a leader who found their mission unconciable and, at the summit of all things, a scared little girl who had to face the darkness of the universe alone.

Satisfied that she had said her piece, she clapped her hands, said her goodbyes to her long gone friends, and laid flowers at the grave markers before she made her way to another gravestone.

"I… nearly died. Again."

Yujo said looking at the ground like a child that had admitted to breaking something of great import of their parents in front of the headstone in front of her.

On it was etched "Minfilia Warde", the once leader of the Scions of The Seventh Dawn.

Much like with the victims of the masacare. Yujo talked about her tales to Minfilia. But, whilst her recounting of her adventures to them was akin to spinning tales in a bar, talking to Minfilia was akin to talking to a mother figgure.

She was only 27 when she was taken into the lifestream. To be charitable to her- to say nothing about how the time dilation between Eytheris' shards worked- that would have made her 30 when she "died" by becoming one with Ryne, the Minfilia of the first.

Only by the stoping of one's clock had Yujo- who had first met her at the age of 20 and was now 26, her nameday having been only a few weeks prior- catched up to her in that regard.

And there were many moments, far far too many moments, that Yujo came far too close to never having that chance.

For a little while the only thing to be heard was Chocomate scratching his feet on the ground.

"I am not proud to admit it, but Zenos got his way in the end. Probably didn't mean to, ether. He… He just didn't get it."

She shook her head. "He could probably eventualy come to understand, but all I could see was the infinite void of the henious deeds there were to come- lands and people, split and spoiled by his hand- when he spoke his nonsense." she looked up to the sky.

"And I blinked. I gave him his fight. I genuinly wonder. If we were on opposite ends and you stood there at the edge of all creation. Would you have been able to abide by him?"

She shook her head. "No. No, that's stupid. He had done so many awful things by that point. To the lands he ruled. To the people he subjigated. T-To Fordola and Yotsuyu…"

Memories of her first time in Garlemald intruded on her like a waking nightmare She wrapped her arms around her body, and held on tightly.

"… to me …"

That time where Zenos had put his soul into her body still haunted her. It festered like a deep scar in her psyche. She knew it had part to do with why she gave Zenos his final fight but she was far too ashamed to admit that personal vengence had anything to do with it.

"I…" she felt her throat tense up. "… I can't go back to where I went to with him. I was lucky. Far too lucky. If I ever go back to that place within me ever again, I don't think I would be able to come back from it."

She closed her eyes. "So, I need to change. So I don't allow myself to follow that… man… into his abyss."

She closed her eyes, tears began to stream down her face.

"I knew we did you proud. Minfilia. I… I just wish you, Papamylo and everyone else who isn't here to see what we made of the star that you left us could see it."

Chocomate looked on, silently watching over Yujo as she wept.

Eventually she wiped her face with the side of her arm and smiled even as the tears made a mess of her face. "I… I'm sorry. I'll get through one of these without crying like the sadsack of popotos I am one day…" she said as she put the flowers on the grave and said that she would see her again.

"Come on, 'mate" she said as she saddled up and patted his side. "Let go."

With a flap the chocobo took flight heavensward, and to the last grave Yujo had to tend to.

"Hi, Haurchefant." she said as she aproached the marker that bore her friend's name and laid the flower down at it's feet, carefuly placing it under the sheld so the fridiged winds of Coerthas wouldn't blow it away.

She tried to think about what to even say infront of him.

Then she could only laugh.

"Nearly died again." she said, smiling. "You're probably just at the point where you find it funny whenever it happens. 'Oh there she goes again, jumping right into the maw of godsknow whatever horror beyond the kin of men' " she laughed, imating his posturing.

"I know your shield is here, but sometimes it realy does feel like you're just behind me, ready to protect me when I most need it. And I really apreciate that, Haurchefant. I truely do."

She let out a silly little laugh. "It's funny. I know my heart doesn't work like other peoples- I love so many people of this land as if they're family- but there was never that need to be with one person. I have to confess. If my heart did work like that. I think that I would have wanted to be with you."

She smiled. "I will never forget how you saved me- and Alph and Tataru- when we were at our most desperate. How, inspite of every risk inherent to it, your father welcomed us with open arms. I need to visit him on the way back home and see how he's doing."

"But, before that, I have a favor to ask." she said before she put her hands behind her head to undo the knot of her bandana. She then tied it through the hole of Haurchefant's shield.

"I want to become someone new in this star of eternal calm that we have made and I want to do it not with the weight of my past on my head but with the love of the friends I made in my heart. So, please, hold onto this."

She closed her eyes and then nodded.

"And, If I could be as selfish as to ask, could you wait for me in the farplane, Haurchefant? When I am old, and I have no more adventures left in me. I want to go on one last adventure with you, for old times' sake."

Her hair now flapping from being let lose from the bandana. Yujo smiled and turned around to visit Count Fortemps on her way home to the snow filled land she had come to call home.
