I just feel like Katara and Zuko would have the PETTIEST beef regarding Aang. They are friends, and they don’t harbor any actual problems with each other, but the rivalry and butting heads persists. They both think the other is trying to take Aang away from them. Like:

Katara: Zuko what are you doing here?

Zuko: I just came by to see my BEST FRIEND Aang. We’re having boys night tonight.

Katara: Oh, my BOYFRIEND and I are actually going out on a date tonight!

Zuko: That’s strange. I don’t remember him MENTIONING you!

Katara: Hahaha! That’s probably because—

Aang: Hey, I’m glad you guys could make it! Are you both ready to go?

Katara and Zuko: What.

(zukka thoughts) I really wish we could see Hakoda’s thought process throughout boiling rock and before. Imagine you see your son for the first time in two years and you have to listen to him talk about this fuck ass jerk-bending prince the entire time. At first, Hakoda understands, this “Jerk-bender” has been tormenting him, Katara and the rest of his friends for months now. Hakoda is angry, making comments that of course he’d be just like his father and that’s when Sokka stops, scrunched up his face and says, “What? No he’s not.”

Hakoda is, well, he’s confused. And Sokka just keeps going on. “He’s an asshole, but he’s not evil. I’d say he’s more like an angry polar-dog puppy. More bark, less bite.”

“You said he burnt down Kyoshi village.”

“Well, yeah, but he didn’t kill anyone.”

“So, you don’t hate him?”

“What? Of course I do.”

Hakoda is so confused.

He should mention the fact that Sokka, on multiple occasions, complained about how good his sword fighting is.

“I mean it’s ridiculous. He’s a bender and a sword fighter? A good one at that! Him and his stupid pretty face.”

“What?”

“What?”

They didn’t talk for a little bit after that.

And then, Boiling Rock happens. The day of the black sun came and went and Hakoda found himself separated from his children once more and thrown into the Fire Nation’s top security prison.

Only to then be broken out by his teenage son and the prince of the fire nation. The prince of the fire nation who was standing suspiciously close to said teenage son.

Hakoda felt that prison was better than having to deal with his Sokka being in love with the moody, traumatized soon to be Fire Lord.
