Metapost - My Final Post
Tech-Respect was created in response to a school assignment. To be able to use and understand social media. I used core concepts displayed in unit lectures such as using external social media connections with facebook and twitter as well as customising my Tumblr blog with HTML & CSS.
Customising the Tumblr blog was definitely the most difficult thing to do. Not because of the coding, but I believe the customise feature in Tumblr needs more compatibility and bug fixing. I had many errors like things not loading properly, reverting to default settings and layout issues. Fortunately I got around these and managed to create the blog as intended.
Adding extra widgets was definitely going to be done as 'sharing' in social media is the most important. So I managed to find a great site called AddThis which provides widgets to share to all types of other social media. I also added some HTML to the side bar which displays the 5 most recent posts I have liked, keeping in mind that the stuff I liked was related to my blog. Furthermore, I added a few images from external sites which display statistics related to technology. If these were just plain images then they wouldn't be there. But the sites update these images frequently hence keeping my content updated.
Statistics:
These statistics were the most significant and combined with Google Analytics, I managed to find out how many views, visitors etc... my blog got. So it got very specific and it helped me in finding out what people like most about what I posted.

Tumblr Google Analytics - Posts: 200 - Visits: 600 - Followers: 65 - Unique Visitors: 500 - My Likes: 1200 - Page Views: 2500 - Following: 25 - Reblogs: 46
My blog was viewed from 45 countries around the world in 9 different browsers and operating systems, including Opera, RockMelt and Playstation 3. Visit percentage is around 67% referral, 25% direct and 8% organic with 8 visits from mobile phones.
Now to display my top 3 most popular posts.
1- An image of a video game replica. 2- An image of a video game replica made from lego. 3- A gif image of Jellyfish lamps
And these posts prove that Tumblr is all about images and unique and creative content. I also noticed that to get the most views to your posts, you find the days of the week people use social media the most. So.......Friday and the weekend. Because on Tumblr, most people don't have time to scroll tags for hours until they find what you posted 2 days ago. You want to update when it matters, keeping in mind that what you post needs to be unique.
Overall, I'm happy with the result and surprised to see how quickly my blog spread around the world in such a small amount of time.
It just proves how fast and far, shared Internet content goes. Especially in social media.

Internet World Stats Q1 results.
Internet World Stats has released it’s data for the first three months of 2012, showing China with a huge lead in the number of individual users.
The United Kingdom has the highest percentage of population of internet users, at 84.1%. That’s followed closely by Korea and Germany (both 82.7%), Japan (80%), with the US next at 78.3%.
The top 20 countries make up 75% of the world’s internet users.
Interesting to see Nigeria at 11th place overall, maybe because of all their internet scammers?!

Quote
When they look back at this era, Internet historians will mark Facebook’s Instagram acquisition as the symbolic moment when the Great Shift was confirmed. Significantly, it also came soon after Steve Jobs’ death. The device that Jobs created had, within the space of five years, allowed a 551-day-old company with 14 employees to become worth $1 billion. On April 9, 2012, Web 2.0 lost its mantle as the most important Internet paradigm. We are now starting the Age of Mobile.

I've seen a few replicas of #Fallout 3 but this has to top them all.
"It consists of an HTC Desire HD as the screen and processor, and an Arduino Uno with a USB host shield running microbridge to act as an ADB host for the phone. The Arduino then sends button presses to the phone via TCP over USB."
