Just got fired from my job because I told my manager nicely to stop talking to me in a tone that made me feel bad about myself. It's nonsense that everyone keeps saying it was my fault for not taking her being like this??
weird as fuck living in a culture where it's considered more impolite to speak up and defend yourself against someone treating you unfairly than it is for someone to be rude to you in the first place

Anti Psychiatry includes protecting people with spiritual psychosis. If this person goes off their meds because "God told them to do it" or its "ruining their spiritual gift" it's actually not fucking up to you to force it down their throat. - Vincent

Saying that a certain group of people is too privileged to complain about the way that things are is its own sort of defense of the status quo

A lack of empathy is not a moral failing.
Some neurodivergent people feel low or no empathy towards other people. This is not an indication of moral bankruptcy or a sign someone is a bad person. You need to stop saying things like "Conservatives are evil because they just lack empathy.", or "The left is the party of empathy."
The word you are looking for is compassion.
Empathy is a feeling in which the suffering of others causes you to suffer to some extent.
Compassion is a conviction to do good for your fellow human beings because you feel their suffering should be alleviated.
The correct statement would be "Right-wing politics lack compassion." And the inverse "Leftist ideals are built on compassion."
We as leftists should not assume those incapable of feeling a certain emotion are incapable of acting with compassion, as that is deeply ableist.
The feeling of empathy can motivate compassion, but it is not required for a person to be compassionate. Those with low or no empathy can and do act with compassion. To care for others even in the absence of an instinctual pack-bonding drive to do so is truly revolutionary, and it should be recognized as such.

i genuinely hope this doesn't come off as confrontational or patronizing. i realize you're probably going to ignore this message, too, and i realize there's no point in arguing. i hope i can get you to think your behaviour through a little further is all. i don't think any one should fake a disorder either. i certainly don't think they should be doing it for internet Special Snowflake points or whatever the narrative is around "endos". but who the hell gets to decide if theyre pretending? are you basing this on the psych model? are you excluding everyone without memory partitions? did you change your mind on that when osdd was added to the dsm, or are you old guard? are you under the impression that psychiatry has a full, clear picture of identity disorders? if you're not using the psych model, what model are you using? gut reactions? if someone seems too comfortable with being plural, talks about it too loudly or in a way you find annoying, is that where you draw the line? or do they have to submit a writeup of their trauma to your diagnostic board? wht's your stance on integration? i know there's lots of people out there who are of the position that the only goal of treating this disorder should be full integration, and that it's impossible to live a full, happy, healthy life with alters. these are real, genuine questions. what of the overlap of autism and schizo? who the hell gets to decide if an experience of plurality is real or definable enough to deserve alienation? i swear to god, i mean this from the bottom of my heart, if you're not a psych bootlicker, if you understand the importance of giving people the grace to define themselves, if you understand all the reasons why you wouldn't want to put your age or identifiers or traumatic backstory on the internet, why in the world is this your sticking point? that there's one, clearly obviously identifiable threshold which makes a person traumatized enough to feel the way they feel? that there's one completely objective way to know if someone is "faking", for fun or clout or anything else?
the whole discussion has lost the plot. it just reeks of enshrining trauma and suffering as the sole focal point of identity. anti-endos and pro-endos both can't wait to jump at each other throats with no regard for the wealth of experiences that could connect them. Internal family systems, dbt, emdr, all of these philosophies and techniques are powerful tools for healing, but you know? people engaging in syscourse (or whatever) don't really seem to be all that worried about healing, or understanding themselves, or giving themselves and others patience and compassion. they just want to be part of the club that makes them special, special enough to finally deserve validation, attention, connection. the fun secret here is that they already do and always have.
i finally started healing when i gave up on determining whether or not i was damaged and suffering enough to deserve help. when i gave up on trying to find (and then submit to) tenuous outside validation and started seriously listening to the hurt parts of myself and taking care of them instead of letting their neuroses control me.
i get it hurts to see other people seemingly make light, romanticize, or flaunt something that seriously hurts you, or that exists because you've been seriously hurt. to use it for attention or sympathy or a reason to argue. but trying to construct a framework placing you as an arbitor of who gets to feel what or access what resources or describe their experiences in certain ways is just not it. it's tempting to chase that validation from so-called emperic sources, but the way forward is establishing security within yourself, and you're gonna have a hard time doing that if you're always ready to call somebody else a faker.
Anyway. again, not trying to proselytize. hopefully sharing a sentiment i could have benefitted from seven or so years ago. hope you have a nice day
Hey so I've kept this in my inbox since our conversation and you sent this in, and I thought I should finally answer it after staring at it a bunch.
So guess what? By pure coincidence, and the natural growing of life, I'm an endo supporter now. I have alters with different origins, and a good chunk are willowgenic. So, thought you deserved an update! Hope you're well and this reaches you at a good time dude

Putting out an important reminder, as an autistic person myself. For the longest time I've also hated autism speaks, and have dunked on them just as most educated people do. But my autistic partner, who lives in Canada, shed some light on something I missed. What other major companies do autistic people have? What support do we realistically get, without something as visible as autism speaks? My brother is a high support needs autistic person, without the accommodations he gets in school thanks to Autism Speaks, and the wonderful deaf support groups in our area, he'd be struggling.
Now think. How many high support needs autistic people live in Canada? What will they do without the most recognized and influential autistic resource out there?
They'll struggle.
They'll struggle and they'll not have support.
We'll need to either find something to bring Canada Autism Speaks back up or get another, better company quick. For the sake of high and medium support needs autistics who will be bullied and fail in school and everyday life without the help this, albeit not so good corporation, 's help

Autism Speaks Canada is "concluding its operations" on January 31st 2025!

Working Guys: A Transmasculine Sex Worker Anthology is officially out today! We're published!
Tumblr media
Those who've been watching this book through its creation may be tired of hearing me hype up all the contributors for this, but it's worth repeating. All of the 20 transmasculine sex workers in addition to myself who wrote about their experiences for this are amazing and have incredibly worthwhile stories to read.
"I genuinely think anyone who wants to talk or form an opinion about sex work needs to read this book, since it not only offers thoughts about transmasc people but also reflects about what sex work means in a society like ours and what reasons does someone have for engaging in it."
The book includes many kinds of sex workers, from those who sell sex in-person to professional dominants to Onlyfans creators. You can read the experiences of Felix Mufti, Dakota Nevaeh (18+), Eddy (18+), Sunan, Trip Richards (18+), Liam, Arc D, Julian Yang, Mister Saul (18+), Ron Beastly (18+), and many others!
"This is a diverse collection of work - from cutting analysis of the camming industry, statistics on violence against transmasculine sex workers, to personal stuff that reads like prose poetry. Care was taken to include minorities within the minority, especially people of color."
Tumblr media
Such a huge proportion of transmasculine people have done some kind of sex work, yet awareness of this is low! As a sex worker myself who often struggles to be understood and has become frustrated with the lack of resources out there or things to read describing feelings and difficulties like my own, I'm so happy to have been able to put together this anthology. When I transitioned whilst selling sex and making porn, I'd have strongly appreciated a book like this.
"The "multiple texts" format is really easy to apprehend for people who's primary language is not english (like me, so sorry for the typos and such), compared to a huge essay in one block."
You can order a copy from most online book stores, or get an e-book here.
