This 55-year-old woman had a T10- L5 fusion done. When she developed adjacent segment degeneration at L5-S1, her previous surgeon told her that she couldn’t be having pain. When I came into the exam room, she was in tears partly because of the back and leg pain and also because no one believed her. Prior abdominal surgery made the fusion difficult, but we fixed her.
