okay hear me out...hopes father passes a few months after her and lyalls wedding, but before that he was sick for years. hope rarely left his side and even planned her wedding to be sooner then she originally thought it would be just so he could be there. then, when remus was born she gave him the middle name ‘john’ after her father.

now imagine hope finding out shes sick, same thing as her father, during remus’ later years at hogwarts. she doesnt tell him at first, she can already see hes stressing over school and didnt want to make her son worry more. it stays secret until remus graduates because hopes gotten too bad for it to not be a secret anymore. she pushes herself to keep living, just a little longer. she lives just long enough to help sirius with his proposal to remus. she wants to make it even longer when she hears james and lily, these kids shes known since they were little, are having their own child.

but hope doesnt make it. she fights it out until summer of 1981.
