Gurl alright
Open tags!
Type "my gender is" on your phone and let your phone finish the sentence, then tag your moots to keep the chain going, I'll go first.

Yeah, “Regulus” also means “little king”, a term used for the basilisk, as I said, but the hocrux part is rlly cool I agree
sometimes when i think about Regulus i also think about how his name was one of the few that had little to no connection to Slytherin's theme of snakes and evil and cunning shit, like Draco, for example, but a connection to Gryffindor instead. Regulus is the brightest star in the Leo constellation. Leo? Lion? Gryffindor?
Regulus is also the "heart" of the Leo constellation, meaning it's the "lionheart" - a term used for describing someone brave, A GRYFFINDOR TRAIT, essentially. Regulus also showcases this by defying Voldemort, defending Kreacher and trying to destroy the locket
I researched "Regulus" as a term and found that it was also a family name of a Roman General, who became known through his BRAVE SELF-SACRIFICE.
And yes, you can argue that "Regulus" is "little king" in Latin, a term also used for the basilisk, so a relation to Slytherin, essentially, but the other version stands out to me more, because Rowling literally confirmed the Leo constellation thing.
All of this in mind, we can also dream about Regulus's connection to Sirius, as despite being in Slytherin, his heart may have belonged to Gryffindor, as his name could have
Regulus's name could also be connected with "rules" in some languages. You guys, "regulation", literally. So funny, because Regulus always followed his parents' rules
If you want an another fun linguistic thing about Regulus that I've thought of, go to my previous post, where I explain Regulus's initials in Russian :3

One of my friends said "yeah no wonder Remus would marry Tonks. She could transform her features into Sirius's and they could just roleplay like that so he was just playing out the life he would have had with him. Even had a kid!" And HELP?!? WHAT 🆘🆘🆘🆘🆘

THANK YOU THIS IS WHAT I MEANT IN MY POST AS WELL BUT IN A ONE SENTENCE VERSION
explain your fav underrated marauders era character? and tag with #underratedmarauders
okay hiiii
this might take a while to answer but my favourite underrated marauders character has definitely got to be peter
i mean, i know why he is, given what he did in canon but i feel like there's a lot to him that could be really fun to explore.
a lot of this is already discussed and it's not like he's sUPER underrated but yeah, all of this is pretty much made canon by the fandom but anyway this is peter to me
firstly, i think he's got one of the most complex personalities out of the marauders.
and i say this because in canon nobody expected him to be the traitor and it was obvious that he really regretted it, despite carrying through with voldy's orders (forgive me if im wrong, it's been years since ive read the original work but ive been in this fandom for a little over a decade so im pretty sure i know what im talking about).
this is really interesting to me because i can't imagine being subject to such mental torment and being forced into compliancy AGAINST the people you once thought of as family.
i know id rather die but peter decided that he was going to devote his life to voldemort
it makes me question where his allegiance even was, yk? EVEN THOUGH HE EXPRESSED GUILT
i feel like he's one of those people that are extremely, internally self destructive, if you catch my drift?
in canon, peter (from what i remember), was described as someone who followed james + sirius around like a lost puppy
which was almost definitely a catalyst in a long list of catalysts as to wHY he decided that vooldewoold was the way to go.
he constantly asks himself if he's worth his friends' time, while simultaneously trying his absolute hardest to just Be There™ for everyone.
imposter syndrome galore. mans has got the worst self image and the fact that he was seen as the Lost Puppy really made things worse for his ego.
on the topic of ego i really do believe that peter had had problems with his ego as a kid, going into his teen years, mainly because he was outshone by everyone around him.
he was smart, unfortunately his practical use of his knowledge was not as admirable and i think this may have frustrated him a lot.
peter was the type of guy to get angry when he couldn't prove himself. being constantly told that he had potential and subsequently failing to carry through with his promises to improve would absolutely bruise somebody's ego but
for peter
i think it would be a lot more than a bruise and more like destroying it, considering who his circle was.
he saw them as the epitome of perfection and basically worshipped them (this i know is truly part of canon) so yeah. it sucked.
but the thing about peter was that he was so so SO GOOD at compartmentalisation and his poker face was unbeatable. you could never suspect when something was wrong with him and if you probed he'd really smoothly change the conversation by commenting on something or whatever.
so, it wasn't like anyone knew that their "perfection" was hurting peter because he never ever said anything
he was just too good at keeping things to himself because
i mean
he'd lived his entire life in the shadows of perfect things and perfect things don't need to ask for help.
so maybe his method of coping with the loss of a stable "family" during that period of unrest between the marauders, peter may have sought out something more fixed in it's uhm...what's the word???? ig perfection 😭
ive used that word a lot, bear with me 🙏
but anyway, yeah. that's what makes me question that whole thing about allegiance because, if i really loved my friends to the point where i considered them family, i would NOT be so quick to switch sides just because i want to prove something.
and for peter that something could mean anything
that he's smart? that he's loyal (counterintuitive, but that's still something worth looking into), that he is capable of being powerful (he was weak as shit), that he's not easily manipulated (bro wtf????)
oh yeah, manipulation i forgot to mention that but in a friend group like the marauders sometimes you see that there's a super super submissive one and in some interpretations of peter people seem to make him this really submissive character who bends to james's (and sometimes even sirius's) every word
so factoring that in, peter may have felt used by the marauders. or manipulated into being their friend.
this also plays into the ego thing i mentioned where he feels like his only job is to be the friend that was invited into the circle out of pity or to make the group look good for befriending a social wallflower.
he just confuses me because he's just all over the place while, at the same time, slipping under the radar.
anyway sorry for rambling :D

Look, honest to god - any of the Black sisters. They just aren't talked about enough imho.
Each has a lot of lore to unpack, all are immensely interesting characters, and if we talk so much about Regulus and Sirius (which I have no problem with), then why don't we talk about Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa as much?
Bellatrix: oldest sister, always the one responsible for carrying on the bloodline's values, since there is no male heir in their specific branch of the Black family. The one who bore all the expectations from a very young age, so that her sisters could live more freely, the one who was so determined to do right by what she was taught growing up, she was one of the most powerful wizards on Voldemort's side, dare I say. Smart, bashful, mounding herself into the exact shape she needed to be
Andromeda: ohhhh lord, where do I begin. The one who broke away, Andromeda, whose morals and lawfulness won over her love and loyalty towards the family, who chose love above all else, who was so heartbroken to turn away from her sisters, knowing that the day she leaves that house, she might not see them ever again. The one who fought for peace. The one, who lost her daughter and older sister in one day and who vowed to raise her grandson with so much love he never feels the absence of his parents
Narcissa: the youngest, always so timid, always had to be the picture perfect girl, because she needed to be married off according to her parents. Could only involve herself with the "right" people, engage in the "right" kind of ladylike hobbies, learning to be the perfect wife, criticized for one hair being out of place or one note being played wrong on the piano, being told no one would want to marry her from a very young age when she didn't even understand the concept of marriage. Couldn't be committing to anyone, unless it's for forever, but oh was she loyal. Devoted, emotional and loving, forced to keep a smile on during all times. Loved Draco more than one could imagine, how could she not? It's her son, a piece of her, the one who she fully devoted her time and heart to at the end of it all. I don't think people talk enough about Narcissa as a mother. Tried to avoid the fate of her oldest sister, but ended up in the same circle of people anyway, but even then complied with the rules and didn't let emotions show
Three sisters. Forced to grow up and apart too quick, from being called three peas in a pod, to never seeing each other again.
P.S.: Peter Pettigrew. Yeah I know he was a shit person, but he was THERE. Don't leave him out of fanfiction, there were 4 marauders. 4.
