Not everyone is meant to share your journey, or even understand it. Some people show up in our lives and stay for the long haul, while others are only meant to cross our path, teach us something, and move right along. You’ve likely heard the phrase about people coming into our lives for a “reason, a season or a lifetime.” Sounds simple enough, right?! For the most part it is, but I think a lot of people get caught up and hurt when they’re unable to recognize who’s who, or try to turn reasons and seasons into lifetimes. It seems to happen most often in relationships that aren’t really balanced...like when one person has stronger feelings or more of an attachment than the other. Unfortunately, it’s this imbalance that can make it harder for some people to know when the relationship has run its course, and when it’s time to go. When you realize it’s time to move on, for whatever reason, trust that it’s OK to do so. Sometimes it’s an easy decision, and you’re able to make a clean break. Sometimes it’s really hard, and things can get ugly. In either case, the best thing you can do is trust your intuition and listen to your heart. Your gut instincts don’t lie! Understand that saying goodbye might be necessary for your continued growth and happiness...and theirs. Yes, it might be uncomfortable or painful, but not any more uncomfortable or painful than staying in a situation that’s already draining your energy or making you miserable. Yes I AM...and so are YOU! 💯 All of those things we think are wrong with us, those shameful or embarrassing things about ourselves that make us feel like we are somehow “less than” or undeserving of happiness, are actually all of the things that make us freakin amazing people! They are the things that make us uniquely beautiful. It’s our imperfections that make everything about us...well, perfect! Maybe that sounds like an oxymoron to you, or like some kind of weird dichotomy, but we live in a world full of duality. Unfortunately, it’s this type of black-and-white idealism that makes us think we need to be this way or that way, or that we have to be all in or not at all, or that if a little is good, a ton must be better. Ridiculous, right?! It seems pretty unrealistic to think anyone could possibly live that way. That’s because when you look closer, the reality is that there are so many shades of gray in between that create the world around us at any given moment. Personally, I love living in the gray area! Living a life of extremes is way too restricting, and almost impossible to maintain. The idea that something or someone will ever be “perfect“ is a load of shit! And that applies to so many things when you really think about it. People aren’t perfect, the timing is never perfect, the situation will never be perfect… The sooner that we can give up on the idea of perfection, and start embracing the awesomeness of imperfection, the sooner we can let go of all the crap we can’t control and the unrealistic expectations we have. We can start being happy with how things are already. We can be grateful for all of the great things going on around us. We can stop expecting the worst, and start living our best lives. We can be HAPPY!!! 🙌😃
