My opinion on the Final Fantasy Series, 1 - 15 (Excluding 11 and 14)
I love final fantasy, I have been a fan of the series for some time now and have played all the numbered titles except for the MMOs. While i intend to review them all in depth, lets give you a sneak peek of my thoughts on these games. Please note that this is my opinion, and I am just as entitled to mine as you are to yours. Respect my opinion and I will likewise respect yours. Without further ado lets begin.
Tumblr media
FF1 – The original is a classic I find myself revisiting time and time again. While the story and gameplay are much simpler compared to later sequels, it is still a solid game. I would recommend any fan of the series give the original a try, but if you do, go for the remakes. As they fix some issues the very original nes version had.
Tumblr media
FF2 – The second final fantasy game gets a lot of hate by the community. This game was heavily criticized for its controversial level up system. Except for the general gain exp to level up, it relied on more of a skill-based system. Simply put you did more damage with a blade if you used a blade often, but if you switch to an axe, you’ll be at a disadvantage. However, I think this game is fine, it was one of the first games with a serious plot and it was the origin of many final fantasy tropes including the chocobo. I think it is worth a shot, but you will need patience t conquer this title, its not for everyone but I won’t say it’s bad.
Tumblr media
FF3 – Final fantasy 3 is probably one of my least favorite final fantasy games. This is the first game to introduce the job system which would later be reintroduced in Final Fantasy 5. While I praise this game for its job system, I find this game to be boring, the plot fails to keep me interested and the villain is perhaps the least interesting villain in the main series. The main characters in the DS port are not much better either. This is also one of the more grind heavy games in the series. I won’t say this is a bad game, but I do not see myself revisiting it for anything other than review purposes.
Tumblr media
FF4 – Final Fantasy 4 is in my opinion overrated. While it is not a bad game by any means, I feel it is praised far too much that it overshadows other games. The story was decent but began to fell off for me towards the end. I don’t have much to say about this title, as I am indifferent towards it and I do not have a nostalgic attachment to it. Again, this is by no means a bad game, in fact technically speaking it’s the best one so far but that doesn’t mean I personally like it. I will be playing the DS remake soon, so my opinion may change.
Tumblr media
FF5 – While 4 is overrated, 5 is underrated. This title took a while to reach western shores, and when it did its availability was difficult due to it being on the PS1. However, now it is readily available and boy s it fun. This tale is a bit more colorful and comedic, almost as if a self-indulging parody of its own genre. I love the characters, the story, its all good. While it is one of the hardest games in the series and it has some serious moments as well. This game marks the first appearance of series favorite Gilgamesh. Overall, I like this one, it is one of my favorites of the 2D series.
Tumblr media
FF6 – A classic through and through. Great characters, great music and a great plot that will have you invested in at least on of the characters stories. This game is technically speaking the best 2D final fantasy game, and while I personally like 5 the most, this is a close runner up for me. I would seriously recommend this game, especially if you are new to the series.
Tumblr media
FF7 – Some say its great, some say its overrated, I say its kinda both. This particular title is the most popular final fantasy game, and for good reason. It is an amazing game with good music, a decent story and some pretty famous moments. On the other hand, this game has been so bled dry with a plethora of spin offs and so on that its hard to escape its fame. I will say this game deserves praise, but is not infallible.
Tumblr media
FF8 – Sadly the weakest game in the series for me. This game is just…boring. The characters are just kind of dull and the whole mechanics of the game is overly complicated and confusing. This game just isn’t fun. Even graphically speaking I find it kind of dull. This is the only numbered Final Fantasy game I have yet to beat, and believe me I have tried multiple times.
Tumblr media
FF9 – A decent game, an underrated gem I would say. Its not my favorite of the ps1 games but it is certainly worth a try. I was not the biggest fan of the art direction of this game, but it didn’t turn me off all together either. This game is just fine, but I do not have much to say on it either… Until I do a review for it!
Tumblr media
FF10 – One of my favorites. FF10 is a bit more linear than its predecessors but it also brought a lot of new things to the table as well. I felt like a power house when I got the ultimate weapons and nearly completed my sphere grid. This game isn’t all that easy but it isn’t overbearingly difficult either. It has a good story, decent characters, simple to understand mechanics and an infuriating underwater soccer game. This one is certainly worth the time and I would recommend the HD port.
Tumblr media
FF12 – This title is an odd one, with gameplay elements very different from previous titles. I spent many hours playing this game and it is one of my favorite games. The plot was somewhat interesting and most of the cast was alright. Music and visuals are alright and combat can be quite fun. I have yet to play the Ps4 port so I look forward to that. Overall its different but fun.
Tumblr media
FF13 – A very divisive and controversial title, final fantasy 13 is a game loved by some and hated by others. A very linear title that does not hold many of the elements that make a final fantasy game…well a final fantasy game. While the characters can be a bit irritating…except Sazh, he is cool, I actually really like this game. It is beautiful graphically speaking, has a somewhat interesting plot, the game play is a bit repetitive and the whole linear aspect can eb a turn off, but all in all, I like this title. I would recommend people give it a try, but ill go further into depth when I review this piece.
Tumblr media
FF15 – Oh boy, this title was a blast for me. I had so much fun with Final Fantasy 14. The open world aspect, the story, the characters, it was such a fun time for me! All I can say is that this game is worth the time, yes it may not be a traditional final fantasy but who cares at this point? I loved this title.

Modest Media Game Reviews Devil May Cry
Tumblr media
Game – Devil May Cry Year of Release - 2001 Developer - Capcom Publisher - Capcom Rated - Mature Genre – Hack and Slash action adventure Platform – PlayStation 2 HD Collection, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One For all sakes and purposes I am playing the HD port on PS3
The hack and slash genre was exceptionally popular back in the 2000s and is somewhat making a reemergence in recent years. Today we are looking at one of the most popular series in the hack and slash Genre, Devil May Cry. With the 5th installment coming out soon at the time of this review I figured it would be a good time to revisit the original and see if it still holds up today. Buckle up, because we are going for a ride.
Tumblr media
Gameplay – DMC is a high action hack and slash game with some basic puzzles thrown into the mix. Dante is armed with a sword and guns and can collect more weapons along the way. The game has a heavy focus on combat against dangerous enemies and large bosses. Dante will have to utilize both offensive skills and mobility in order to avoid damage from his foes. There is a bit of exploration-based gameplay as well to find goodies and items needed to progress in the game. Combat can be difficult and sometimes the camera can be a little iffy as well. One aspect of combat is a super powerful form called devil trigger, while it can only be used for a limited amount of time before recharging, it can make quick work of most bosses. Items can be used as well to keep yourself alive and healthy, but be warned, if you die you have to restart the level unless you have a certain item. Luckily, the levels in this game are not too long. For all that its worth, this is a solid title with more good to offer than bad. Score - 16/20
Graphics – For a 2001 game this game really holds up. While it does have a drab color scheme it still looks good. The levels while not diverse still convey the feel of a Gothic castle. Enemies and bosses do look good but are not as diverse as they are in future installments but that’s forgivable. Character models look good, if not a little stiff in some scenes. While the HD version doesn’t up the quality by much its still a decent looking game given the time Score - 8/10
Tumblr media
Story – Decent for what its worth, it has some twist. Dante is a wise cracking demon hunter who take on a job of sorts to defeat a big bad demon named Mundus. He goes to this large elaborate castle alongside a woman named Trish and they explore the castle separately. Most of Dante’s interactions come from the wise cracks he makes at his enemies’ expense. The story takes some twist towards the ladder half with some plot revelations involving Dante’s family, but its not all that drastic. Acting can be a little stale and stiff but its not too noticeable, except for one really cheesy line towards the end. The stakes are not as high in comparison to future games but its still a decent story. Score - 7/10
Replay Value – Decent. Once you beat the game you can enter a new game plus of sorts where you retain all your abilities from the previous playthrough. This makes the game easier to burn through and you can use abilities that you didn’t have at certain points of the game to more easily discover secrets and such. There are also secret missions and other bonuses to accomplish for a better completion rate, while it does not offer as much as future titles, it has decent staying value for what it is. Score – 3.5/5
Music – Music is alright. It is a mixture of Gothic eerie music and high action rock tracks. This compliments the style of the game as well. The rock music representing Dante’s “cool” nature as he hacks and slashes through demon hoards. The Gothic music does a good job capturing the mood of the eerie larger hellspawn infested castle. Later one some techno themes get slipped in as well. Overall a good ost but no track really jumped out at me. Score – 3.5/5
youtube
Overall – This game is good, it got a few flaws but its still a gem. It has aged relatively well, but if you played the sequels, this may be a bit lack luster in comparison. I will still say that it is still a good game that you can have a bit of fun with even today! I would recommend this game, don’t let the nearly 20-year-old date fool you, it’s worth your time. Final Score – 7.6/10 - Good

Modest Media Game Review Kirby’s Dreamland
Tumblr media
Game – Kirby’s Dream Land Year of Release – 1992 Developer – HAL laboratory Publisher – Nintendo Rated – Pre-Dates ESRB Genre – Adventure platformer Platform– Game Boy, Wii, Nintendo 3DS For all sakes and purposes I am playing the original uncolored version.
Kirby’s dream land. The first outing of the lovable man eating puff ball. This side scroller spans over several levels and features simple and fun gameplay. Today we are going to see if this little adventure is worth the time today. Onwards to Kirby’s Dreamland!
Tumblr media
Gameplay – This game is a sidescroller of sorts. You play as Kirby, a small ball like being that can float and swallow enemies whole. You have to run and float to the end of each level in order to win the game. Kirby does not have his famous copy abilities yet in this game, so besides a few power ups Kirby just has his basic swallow and spit attacks to defend himself. Most enemies in this game serve more as nuisances with very few actively trying to attack Kirby. The bosses in this game are simple, though some can be a challenge on the first time fighting them. While the game is short, diverse levels can keep the player interested and keep them playing. Towards the end of the game the player has to retread older locations and fight older bosses again. This game plays it safe and throws few surprises at you, there are some secrets to be discovered. Depending on your skill level this game can be beaten really quickly. Score – 15/20
Graphics – The graphical presentation is impressive. Since this is a game boy game, color was not readily available to all who played it. With this being said, even in its default settings levels are creative and alive. Backgrounds are detailed and the characters all have a charm to them that only a Kirby game can deliver. If I had to summarize it in one word it would be charming. This game is cute and innocent, anyone can enjoy it if they want to. The game is cartoony and in some ways simple but not in a bad way. Also this is one of the best looking classic Gameboy games. Score – 9/10
Tumblr media
Story – The story is not worth counting to the overall score of the game and will be exempt. The story presented is very simple, the villainous King DeDeDe steals all the food and sparkling stars from Dreamland. Kirby goes on an adventure to defeat the gluttonous king and get all the food back. To reach the king Kirby must overcome the king’s minions. Simple and sweet, fitting for a Kirby game. Score – N/A
Replay Value – Pretty good. The game is simple and easy and can be beaten in under an hour. Those who beat the game can access hard mode and config mode. Hard mode adds more enemies for those wanting an extra challenge and config allows for people to make Kirby take less hits for an even more difficult challenge. Hard mode does not affect any story elements or unlocks anything else, but it’s a good way to add a challenge and more staying power with the game. Score – 4/5
Music – While not incredibly diverse, the songs of this game are classics that see many remakes in future installments. Most music is cutesy and happy sounding to reflect this relaxing and fun adventure. Sound effects are good for the most part, with the main noises being Kirby’s inhale, exhale and a hit noise. Boss themes are ok, with DeDeDe’s theme being a great piece of video game music. The ost is worth the 6 minutes needed to hear it all. Score – 4/5
youtube
Overall – This game is fun for all ages. It provides challenge but at the same time a laid back and easy feel to make it a good game to pick up easily and play for about 10 minutes. The game is extremely short and that can fail to satisfy a more intense gaming session. I think this game is fine and I would recommend it to anyone who just wants a game they can beat in a day. Its cheap, its fun and its good for everyone. Final score – 8/10 – Superb.

Modest Media Game Reviews Ninja Gaiden
Tumblr media
Game – Ninja Gaiden Year of Release – 1988 (JP) 1989 (US) Developer – Tecmo Publisher - Tecmo Rated – Pre-Dates ESRB Genre – Action Side scrolling Platformer Platform - Nintendo Entertainment System, TurboGrafx-16, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Wii Virtual Console, Mobile phones, 3DS Virtual Console, Wii U Virtual Console
Ninja Gaiden is often referred to as one of the most insanely difficult games on the NES. A super challenging side-scroller platformer that has been simultaneously loved and criticized by fans and critics alike. Can a game be too hard for its own good? Lets find out.
Tumblr media
Gameplay – To answer the previous question, yes, yes you can. This game’s difficulty is unfair and unbalanced. I am not saying its bad, but ill cover why it is unfair. First of all, enemies, they are the bane of this game. Enemies tend to spawn out of nowhere and in later levels spawn in such a way its almost impossible to avoid getting hit. This is best seen with the room before the final boss, where enemies rain from the ceiling and just try to hover over you while knocking you back and forth. Due to this game’s wonky respawn system, enemies immediately respawn when offscreen, and enemies that fly from the corner of the screen can appear infinitely. Look no further than the infamous birds for this example. Some enemy layouts are so complicated or so unfairly placed that its almost pure luck if you can escape. A good example is this one point in the final level where dozens of flying ninjas at various speeds and elevations bombard you while you platform, and due to the way enemies respawn, the bombardment never ends. Now with the negative out of the way, lets look at the positive. Level layouts are alright, straightforward and standard. Some of the games more infamous moments are only found late in the game regarding level layout. The cliffside is without a doubt the worst level. However, there are some good levels in there as well, the first level does a great job weaning you into the games style. Though it’s a rocky road from there. Some of the platforming feels stiff and Ryu lacks some mobility regarding his wall jumping, its easy to get stuck on a top of a wall and get hit, or an enemy might just decided to stand at the edge and make it a pain to progress. Ryu fights with a sword, meaning all foes must be very close to damage, various other things, like shuriken or fire balls appear in limited qualities. The extra tools can make certain parts a bit easier. Bosses in this game are a mix bag but are not overly difficult with two exceptions. The last 2 bosses, being Malth and the final boss room, are painfully difficult. Most of their moves seem unavoidable and losing to them means replaying some of the hardest levels in the game! I cannot give this game a very high score in this department, its not bad, but it is to frustrating and hard to be enjoyable. Please note that I did beat the game, so I’m not just moaning over not being able to beat it. Score – 12/20
Graphics – Pretty good. Each level has a color scheme that, while not realistic, is a constant. Ryu and the enemies don’t clash with the background, so you will see enemies on the screen along with interactable torches that could be hit for points, health or weapons. There are many enemy types, and the game can handle a lot of character movement at once. The cutscenes between levels look great for their time and are inspired by anime from the 80s. While some levels can feel dull or look boring, the games overall graphical presentation is up to par. Score – 8/10
Tumblr media
Story – For a game from the 80s, where story was usually locked in the pages of a manual, Ninja Gaiden does tell a story. While this story, if told nowadays might better fit a cartoon than a game made to be taken seriously, it works really well. Ryu’s father is supposedly killed in combat, and Ryu, armed with the dragon sword seeks revenge. Ryu is hunted by the CIA, whom try to force him to help overthrow a cult trying to revive a demon. There is a romantic subplot…kind of. There is a plot point about Ryu’s father and of course there is the evil demon and the cult leader revealing his evil plans. Overall the plot is nothing special and again by today standards, it would be considered cliché. This was the 80s though, so this could be one of the most enticing game stories of the time. Couple this with the aforementioned cutscenes and you have a good solid plot. The game also leaves room for a sequel as well, but that’s a review for another day. Score – 7/10
Replay Ability – Low, there are no secrets in this game nor any elements in the game that are introduced in a subsequent playthrough. While some people speed run or try for high scores, the general audience might try it and put it down. Unless it is for nostalgia reasons of course. Given this games brutal nature, I think one playthrough will suffice all but the hardcore Ninja Gaiden fans. On the plus side, it is short enough to not eat up a day…if the player in question is good at it. Score – 2/5
Music – Pretty good! The majority of the ost is somewhat techno and upbeat. The music compounds the gameplay by being fast paced and organized yet hectic as well. Even though there is not much diversity in music, each level has its own theme. While it may sound repetitive in some cases, it is enjoyable nonetheless. Sound effects are alright, the main sound effects you will be hearing is the sound of the sword swinging and the sound of an item being picked up. I would recommend giving the ost a listen to. Score – 4/5
youtube
Overall – This game is hard, so hard that it negatively impacts the quality of presentation. While this game shines in other forms of presentation, it is the fundamental gameplay that undoes it all. There is a difference between fair and balanced hard and unfair hard. Unfortunately, a lot of old school hard games had this more unfair spike to it. Now, I think this game is flawed, yes, but its not that bad. It is frustrating but competent with level design for the most part. If you are looking for a hardcore challenge, then this is a game worth trying, but if you want a genuine tough but manageable old school Nintendo game, look elsewhere. Final score – 6.6/10 – so - so

Modest Media Game Reviews Sonic Series Extravaganza! Sonic CD
Tumblr media
Game – Sonic CD Year of Release - 1993 Developer – Sonic Team Publisher - Sega Rated - Everyone Genre - Platformer Platform – Sega Cd, P.C, Gamecube, Ps2, Ps3, Xbox 360, iOS, Android, Ouya For all sakes and purposes, I am playing the Whitehead remaster on the Ps3.
Sonic CD, a bizarre yet nostalgic title in the sonic franchise. Sonic CD is a spinoff sonic title that was made for the Sega CD expansion, and later PC. This game, unlike other spinoffs, plays very much like a classic sonic game. Sonic runs through various levels, collects rings and defeats bosses. There are a lot of new gimmicks and ideas introduced in this game. Lets take a look and see!
Tumblr media
Gameplay – Sonic CD is a side scrolling platformer much like its predecessors and successors. In the main game you play as Sonic. Sonic has access to some of his iconic moves such as the spin dash. His new move includes the super peel out, which is essentially another version of the spin dash but with no defensive qualities. Levels are larger than before, and exploration is more of a factor now. Each level has secrets and various paths, along with 4 different possible layouts depending on the time zone you are in. A large part of this game revolves around time travel, with various sign post being crossed to dictate if you are to go to the past or future. Most levels are linear despite the large layouts, but many stages have gimmicks that can make traversing them tougher than just running to the right. These gimmicks are things like conveyer belts, bouncy floors, speed tubes and so on. Enemies come in various forms like any sonic game, but don’t pose much of a threat. Most bosses are very easy as well. The biggest challenge in this game is the race against Metal Sonic. There are no chaos emeralds and thus no super form. The bonus stage involves getting time stones which can affect the games ending.  These bonus levels are a bit jarring. Sonic needs to run on a semi 3D plane and hit UFO’s out of the sky. The control is weird and judging the distance of jumps is tough. Sonic will not stop moving during these stages either, and touching water will make your timer count down very fast. Even with that gripe being addressed, the gameplay is fun and is worth a try. Score - 18/20
Graphics – Sonic CD was for a long time the most visually vibrant and colorful classic sonic game, only recently losing that honor to Sonic Mania. Every level is blushing with color and character. Palm tree Panic is a lush tropical level, its bad future is a heavily industrialized and polluted version of its old self. Every level has its own character and story of sorts. Sometimes levels can move very fast or be a bit to colorful like wacky workbench. Character designs look great and timeless. The Whitehead port makes it more high definition and makes it look even prettier than ever before. Also, the game begins and ends with an animated sequence made none other than toei animation. Toei is the lead animators of the Dragonball franchise, and we are talking classic 90s DBZ style animation. It looks great. Score - 9/10
Tumblr media
Story – The story does play a role in the opening and closing cinematics and plays a mild plot in the game itself, but it’s too small to warrant a score. A small planet has appeared and Robotnik has taken it over. Sonic goes to save the day. Turns out Robotnik has found out how to manipulate time and created a future where he rules unopposed. Series newcomer Amy Rose appears, she approaches Sonic early in his journey. She seems harmless but then suddenly a new villain, Metal Sonic, comes and takes her hostage. The game arrivers on until the end where Sonic must race his metallic doppelganger, free Amy from her captivity and defeat Robotnik at his main base. Like most early sonic games, the plot isn’t the most important factor. Score – N/A
Replay Value – Strong! This game primary item is the time stones. To get the true ending you need all the time stones. The time stones are obtained by entering the bonus stages at the end of the stage if you have enough rings. The other way to get the true ending is to ensure a ‘good’ future in all zones. This means you need to go to the past of each zone to destroy both holograms and machines in order to change the future for the better. Levels are large and can be explored in 4 different times, past, present, good future and bad future. With this in mind, it makes revisiting this short game worth it, as two playthroughs can be very different depending on the paths you take and the time zones you play in. On top of that, in the Whitehead version you can play as Tails after you beat the game and that’s awesome. Unfortunately, if you are playing the ps3 port, you cannot unlock trophies as Tails. Score – 4.5/5
Music – The most controversial thing of this game, besides its spooky hidden message in the sound test, is the soundtrack. This game has two official soundtracks. The America soundtrack and the Japanese/European soundtrack. I am not aware as to why this is the case. Luckily, the version I am playing allows for both OSTs to be used during gameplay. Both soundtracks carry their own atmosphere to the levels. Some good tracks from the American OST include the chilled out Palm Tree Panic theme, the eerie boss music and the theme song “Sonic Boom”. The other ost includes songs such as the techno themed Stardust speedway’s bad future, the catchy yet menacing Metallic Madness present theme and the much funkier boss music. Both soundtracks are good, and I will include one song from each version for you to listen too. Score - 5/5
youtube
Overall – This is probably one of the best Sonic games in my opinion. Yes, its gimmicky level design may cause some people to look elsewhere, but technically speaking it is a fun and challenging game. It is rather short and not very expensive.  I would 100% recommend this game. If you are a sonic fan who wants to relive the classics, or someone who has yet to play the original games, make sure to include this title on your list. Final Score – 9.1/10 - Amazing
Have a cute Sonic.

Modest Media Game Reviews JAK 3
Tumblr media
Game -  Jak 3 Year of Release - 2004 Developer – Naughty Dog Publisher - Sony Rated -  Teen Genre – Open World Action Adventure/ Third Person Shooter. Platform – Ps2, Ps3, PsVita, Ps4 For all sakes and purposes I am playing the HD collection on the PS3.
Jak 3 is the final game in the Jak and Daxter trilogy. It takes much from Jak II but also adds several new features as well. This was the first Ps2 game I owned, as it came packaged with my console. This game and I go way back, as I have played it time and time again over the last 12 years. How does it hold up? Does it do it well when compared to its predecessors? Let’s find out!
Tumblr media
Gameplay – Jak 3 brings back many elements of Jak 2. These aspects I will cover briefly so I can save your time. For a more in depth look at these mechanics look at my Jak 2 review. Jak controls similarly to his controls in the previous games. Guns come back, and modifications for these guns can be collected through both story elements and collecting precursor orbs. The two main collectables return and the method of obtaining them are the same. Jak still has access to his dark abilities as well. The hoverboard makes a reappearance too. The game has a large open world that is divided into two main parts. The war-torn Haven City and the wasteland around the new city of Spargus. More on that location in a minute. Some new things are the light Jak abilities, this new form serves as a counterpart to the Dark Jak form. It can be used when enough light eco is collected. Light Jak is more adept at traversing difficult obstacles and can fly, heal himself and create a shield. Dark Jak is once again more combat oriented. The game is still difficult, but it is more balanced and leveled out when compared to Jak II’s infamous spikes of difficulty. On top of that Jak receives armor as the story progresses, making him more resilient to damage. A new mechanic of this game is vehicles. A large part of the open world is a massive desert that you can drive around in. Driving may not be everyone’s up of tea, so it is debatable if this is a welcomed change or not. Many missions are now vehicle based, so this means there are a lot of timed missions, races and even the final boss’ first form is a vehicle battle. Metal Heads return as a primary enemy, but new foes such as the robotic Deathbots and the dark aliens that appear later in the game have emerged. The game is more lenient with checkpoints, but at the same time the vehicle portions can be a turn off for some people. Needless to say, if you can beat Jak II, you should not have that hard of a time beating Jak 3. Score - 17/20
Graphics – The graphics are very similar to the previous title. Most character models seem to have been reused but tweaked a little bit. Jak looks older for example. As for the environment, there are 3 major areas, Paragus City, the desert and Haven City. Paragus city is a desert town full of outcast, its layout is a bit hectic and primitive and it can be a bit easy to lose your way while on missions. However, it still serves its purpose well. The desert has some major landmarks such as an abandoned town, a bandit stronghold and a temple, but is mostly desolate and empty. Haven City has received a major overhaul. First off, a large chunk of the City is no longer accessible. The Stadium, the old palace and the gardens have all been cut off. Some new locations include the new area of the city which is where the slums used to be, now a bustling high-quality zone. The gardens are now home to the Metal Head hive. Which is mostly green and dangerous looking, and a good chunk of the industrial district is in ruin. Widespread battles litter the streets, with the port being one of the only safe zones. The game rarely experiences lag even with a dozen people fighting. This city is livelier than the last, but at the same time one third of the game is a big empty desert with not much to really do. So, it is down to the player if the feel this game is visually superior. I think it stands shoulder to shoulder with Jak II. Score - 9/10
Tumblr media
Story – The story of this game is not as compelling as the last, at least not until much later in the game. Jak, despite being a hero is outcasted from Haven city into the desert. The one who outcasted him is a new villain named Veger. He is arguably one of if not the least compelling villain in the series. He serves little purpose other than to annoy the player during the first half of the game, and to become a gag at the end of the game. Jak and Daxter, along with a talking bird are rescued by some outcast and Jak is essentially forced into servitude by their king. For the first third of the game, Jak is an errand boy. This last until he is called back to Haven city, at first, he rejects but eventually goes to find the city engulfed in a massive 3-way war. After fending off both Metal Heads and killer robots he takes the fight to them. The leader of the robots is a returning antagonist named Errol. Errol served as Jak’s rival in the races of the previous game and was presumed killed. He is back, somehow, and is now a killer cyborg himself. Errol takes over as the main antagonist from here on out. During the third act of the game, the word is invaded by dark aliens, an omen that was predicted very early on. Jak fends them off and protects the city. Some personal revelations are made and then Errol takes over a massive alien craft with the intent of wiping everyone out. Jak defeats Errol, gains a balance in his heart and emerges victorious. The story takes a while longer to kick off and the ending is a bit of a disappointment, however I say it did a fair job. Score - 7/10
Replay Value – Pretty good. Precursor orbs are the main collectable once again, this time there are nearly twice as much as compared to Jak II. The main flaw of Jak II is that these orbs can be missed entirely. As far as I am aware this is not the case for Jak 3. However, many of the orbs are locked behind challenges, and said challenges are mostly unlocked with either story progression or Metal Head skulls. These challenges are the normal ‘get to this place in time’ or ‘jump through all the hoops’ but some are entirely vehicle based. Now, if you want that platinum trophy, but really do not want to do all these missions, the exploit that could be used in Jak II to farm orbs can be reused here. However, unlike Jak II, this exploit is mainly used to save time as opposed to making up for something you have no chance of going to get. Score – 4.5/5
Music – With the game having more of a diverse overworld, more music is played. A majority of the songs fit the arid dry theme of the desert. The music in the city is often bombastic and tense to reflect the battles going on. While very few tracks majority jumped out at me, once again it does little to offend the ears. Voice acting is good and sound design for weapons is nice as well. The city sounds like it is at war, with plenty of explosions and laser fire to fill the ambiance and compliment the intense music. This game probably has the tensest soundtrack of the three games. Score - 4/5
youtube
Overall – Jak 3 is a great sequel and a good game to tie up the main series. I am aware there are several Jak spinoffs but I’m primarily referring to the classic trilogy. While it does fix some of the issues I had with Jak II, its enjoyment factor really will boil down to whether you like or dislike the vehicles sections of the game. For me, it is a great game, I cannot honestly say it is better than the second game, but its tied to the second in my book. Final Score – 8.3/10 - superb

Modest Media Game Reviews Halo Spartan Assault
Tumblr media
Game – Halo Spartan Assault Year of Release – 2013 Developer -  343 industries, Vanguard Games Publisher – Microsoft Rated – Teen Genre – Twin stick Shooter Platforms – PC, Tablet, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Ios For all sakes and purposes I am playing the Steam version.
Halo Spartan Assault is one of the two twin stick shooter spinoff games that serve as a in between titles between halo 3 and halo 4. This game has received generally good reviews for its style and how it fits into the halo niche. Being a major Halo fan myself…at least for the bungie titles, I was hesitant diving into this game. I was not expecting much, but what was I meet with? Well let me explain in this review.
Tumblr media
Gameplay – This game is a overhead twin stick shooter.  The game plays over the course of 30 missions divided around 6 chapters. The main character alternates between two different Spartans, however these two play essentially the same. When a level is completed, you are rewarded a score, rank and experience. Experience can be used to change loadouts for levels, such as opting for a rocket launcher instead of a pistol, or getting a damage booster. Levels vary from ground missions, occasional wave defense and a few vehicle missions. These levels can be repetitive at times and it can kill motivation to play. In terms of difficulty, this game isn’t very hard, it has some tough moments though. To up the challenge, the player can use skulls, which add game altering inflictions such as disabling the hud or cutting ammo in half. The skulls add both difficulty and an experience boost. Combat can be fun and hectic, enemies can spawn in waves and some can take a bit of punishment before falling in battle. Vehicle combat is good and easy to control, even though the scorpion tank is a bit wonky. While this game does not have any game breaking flaws or game changing innovations, it is a totally fine game. Score – 16/20
Graphics – Great. The graphics are able to capture the essence of Halo and deliver it on a smaller scale. The game rarely experiences slowdown, cutscenes are in an odd yet beautiful motion comic style and levels can be diverse, just like in the main halo games. A lot can happen on the screen at once and it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but give it some time and you will get used to it. Enemies and vehicles show damage during combat, npcs show emotions, such as an elite roaring in anger, and so on. This game does a good job looking like a main stream halo game and I praise it. Score – 9/10
Tumblr media
Story – The story is told via a training simulation. This implies that all events in the game have already occurred. To make this plot simple I will give a basic rundown. After the events of Halo 3, the human covenant war ends. This game has a covenant splinter group of extremist lead by elites. This group is the main antagonist of the game. They attacked a human colony and the majority of the game is about repelling them. There comes along a major plot line about a giant weapon that the covenant want to use for their beliefs and the Spartans have to stop them. While the story is told well and presented in an interesting manner, it is nothing a Halo fan hasn’t seen before. While not stale, it is not a unique story, but still a good one nonetheless. Score – 7/10
Replay Value – Decent if one has a thing for high scores and challenges. Each level has a scoring system, depending on how many points you get, you will earn either a bronze, silver or fold star. Having all gold stars doesn’t really add anything other than a sense of accomplishment and maybe an achievement. Each level has various challenges that can be completed as well, again they do not give any legit bonuses but can serve as a reason to revisit levels. The levels are short enough to pick up and put down in the span of 5 – 10 minutes so I suppose it serves as a little diversion. If you don’t care for challenges or high scores, you might see little appeal in replaying levels unless you just like the game. Score – 3/5
Music – Good! It’s a halo game, so a halo worthy soundtrack is to be expected and this game delivers. The majority of tracks are orchestrated choirs that accompany the more story heavy moments. Some intense songs are what plays during battles against the covenant. I would not say that this ost is as memorable as Reach or Halo 3, but its good nonetheless. Voice acting is up to par as well. Of course with this being a Halo game, be ready to hear lots of gunfire and explosions through the levels. The game also has some good quiet moments as well to build tension and atmosphere. Score – 4/5
youtube
Overall – While this game is a good, fun shooter, it offers nothing new to the Halo verse. Nothing is inherently wrong with this game, but it can get repetitive and given how short the game is naturally this can be a issue. I personally enjoyed this game and I think any halo fan would be pleased by it. It is simple to play and its fun. I would recommend it. Final Score – 7.8/10 – Good

Modest Media Game Reviews  Pokemon Fire Red & Leaf Green Version
Tumblr media
Game – Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Leaf Green Version Year of Release -  2004 Developer – Game Freak Publisher - Nintendo Rated - Everyone Genre - RPG Platform – Game Boy Advance For all sakes and purposes, I am playing Leaf Green. I have played Fire Red in the past, and both games are virtually similar.
Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green are update remakes of the original pokemon games. This was my first pokemon game and man, the number of hours I have sunk into this game. With so many new pokemon games, do these two still hold up after nearly 15 years? Let’s find out!
Tumblr media
Gameplay – Pokemon is a creature taming RPG that houses simple yet fun combat. The main goal of the game Is to capture and raise various creatures, known as Pokémon. Each Pokémon has its own traits, strengths and weaknesses. So building a varied team is the key to success. Knowing which types to use and which types to avoid using is beneficial for a smooth experience. Pokémon gain experience and level up through fighting, upon reaching certain conditions, such as using an item or reaching a certain level, a Pokémon will evolve. Evolved Pokémon are stronger than their previous forms and are one of the main reasons for leveling them up. Not all Pokémon evolve though. These creatures can be caught with items called Pokeballs, however the chances of successfully capturing one vary depending on their health, status ailments and rarity. Some Pokémon are super rare or one of a kind, these are referred to as legendary Pokémon.  Legendary Pokémon are very powerful, but are usually inaccessible until the end of the game. The main opposition is other trainers, who will challenge you to a battle. The main goal of the game is to overcome seven specialized trainers called gym leaders and then challenging the five strongest trainers in the region. A simple yet fun concept. The game can get a bit repetitive after a while, but if you play it in burst, it should be a nice experience. Score - 18/20
Graphics – This game is colorful and overall just looks nice. Character sprites are simple but endearing. Each Pokémon sprite is well made and its clear a lot of effort was put into them. Some areas are a bit more dull or repetitive, such as caves, but its not in any way bad. This game overall is just cute and endearing, there is no harm that comes from it. Score - 9/10
Tumblr media
Story – The story is as simple as it gets with Pokemon games. You are simply a kid who wants to make a name for themselves in the Kanto region. You overcome the gym leaders and best your rival at every turn. The only real antagonizing force is Team Rocket. Team Rocket causes trouble throughout the game but unlike future teams, they have no menacing end game, just a lust for power. Several side parts of the game involve defeating the villain team, such as rescuing Mr. Fuji from the Pokemon tower or repelling the Slyph corp takeover. While simple, these tropes would inspire each game to come so its nostalgic and as said before, endearing and harmless. Score - 7/10
Replay Value – Moderate. The game holds several post final boss challenges. There is the obvious challenge of trying to catch, raise and evolve as many Pokémon as you can in order to complete the pokedex. This includes trading, which I honestly always found annoying, but that’s just me. However, this is not all that is available. There is a new post game story involving the downfall of team rocket which adds a few more hours to gameplay. The elite four can be rematched, this time with tougher Pokémon. Finally, a secret cave is opened up very late in the game, house to the legendary Mewtwo. So this game can still offer some nice content after becoming the champion. Score - 4/5
Music – The songs in this game are classics. Many fans of this series are familiar with the tune to pallet town, lavender town and the like. Each song has character to it, trainer battle themes can be fun or intense. Each Pokémon has its own unique little sound clip of a roar. Some moves have cool little sound effects as well. I would totally recommend this ost. Score - 5/5
youtube
Overall – A great game. Fun and enjoyable for people of all ages. While it is outdated by several generations, it might still be worth a trek through even nowadays. Granted I have a few general nitpicks, but nothing is inherently bad about this game. I am glad this was my first Pokémon game, it made me appreciate the original series, while not my favorite Pokémon game by any means, its still a lot of fun. I would defiantly recommend this if you can afford it. Final Score – 8.6/10 - superb

Modest Media Game Reviews Dragonball Z: The Legacy of Goku
Tumblr media
Game – The Legacy of Goku Year of Release - 2002 Developer – Webfoot Technology Publisher - Infogrames Rated - E Genre – Action RPG Platform – Gameboy Advance
I am a huge fan of Dragonball, I grew up watching it on toonami back in the very early 2000s. Dragonball was a major inspiration for me to learn how to draw and has been a huge cornerstone of me and my friends lives. This game should be great for a DB fan like me right? A action rpg that covers the first third of the story? I was excited to try it! Lets see why my excitement turned to sad disappointment as we review the Legacy of Goku.
Tumblr media
Gameplay – Not good. This game is a Zelda like styled action game, you play as Goku and travel through various levels, defeat enemies and overcome bosses. Despite being the strongest man on earth, even a single wolf can kill Goku. Enemies do obscene damage, and healing supplies, while not uncommon, are not very useful. In short you will need to grind, the game even low-key tells you to grind at one point. This game would be 50-60% shorter if you did not have to grind, and if that were the case, this game would be less than an hour and a half long. While there are several different enemies, they all function the same, all bosses are the same as well. Everything just stands right on top of you and wails on you. Dying is very easy in this game due to blatantly overpowered enemies.  Goku can fly, but only for a brief amount of time, and then he needs a pick up to recharge his flight. Goku gains access to three different ki blast, but even this diversity doesn’t spare this game from the mediocrity that it is. The game is littered with pointless sidequest that are forced upon you to beat the game, and most of these quest are just generic ‘fetch the item for me’ quest. Bottom line is this game is unbalanced and underwhelming, bloated to the point of bursting and just boring. Score - 8/20
Graphics – You know, I want to compliment the graphics, but there are issues I will address in a little bit. Character design is alright, its obvious some care went into the sprites. Every character is recognizable and there character portraits are…kind of good. Some character portraits just look weird. Environments look alright, and enemies are all animated and look good. However, this game has one major issue regarding graphics, the collision detection. For some reason, many of the environments have odd invisible walls that have no reason being there. It seems somewhat poorly mapped regarding where Goku can and cannot go, and this is relevant throughout the whole game. So I cant say the graphics are great because they actually negatively effect gameplay. However, I cant hate on it because someone poured time and effort into crafting these sprites. Score – 6.5/10
Tumblr media
Story –  Oh boy, the story will be considered a train wreck by any DBZ fan. Not only is it full of inconsistencies and continuity errors, it feels rushed and poorly constructed. Major plot points In the show are just breezed past in the game, such as Vegeta going great ape or Freeza’s climatic battle. While the game does try to retell the first third of DBZ, it has more filler than the Bleach series crammed into it. Remember how, when Goku lost his son to his evil brother, he set out to go save a lost cat, find a lost toy and pick flowers? Or how Goku learned his signature technique, the Kamehameha, from ten seconds of training with king Kai? No? That’s because it DIDN’T HAPPEN. The actual plot of this game is only like 10 percent of the gameplay, and its mostly through the boss fights! Everything else is just pointless filler. Score - 3/10
Replay Value – None, there is no reason to replay this game. It offers no end game content, and if you saved before the final boss, you cant turn back. You cannot revisit older areas, and there are no secret collectables or rewards for completion. Once you beat this game you have experienced virtually everything it has to offer. Score - 1/5
Music – The music is alright. Its nothing special but it fails to offend. It captures the sensation of some scenes pretty well, so no complaints. The music is probably the best part of this game.  The theme of Namek is particularly nice and somber. The sound clips of this game are also alright if not a bit generic.  While it does not stand out, it can stand on its own feet. I will give it a pass. Score – 3.5/5
youtube
Overall – I wanted to like this game, I really did. Like Killzone, this was a game I have wanted to play for years only to walk away disappointed from it. Sub-Par gameplay and a badly paced and extremely inaccurate story really ruin the game for me. I have heard that the sequel is much better and perhaps I will review it in the near future, however, this game is just not worth the time. There are much better ways to experience the story of dragonball Z from a video game than this. Give this one a skip, unless you really want to see for yourself why its not good. Final Score – 4.4/10 – bad
One positive thing – Not really positive, but I felt legitimately sorry for the surviving Namekians, those poor dudes were so traumatized!

100 FOLLOWERS MEGA SPECIAL AWESOME 10 PART EVENT TOP 100 ENEMIES         THE GRAND FINALE
THE GRAND FINALE!
Here we are, part 10, the final part. 10 more enemies to go. These 10 foes are the cream of the crop in my opinion, so let me share em with ya!
10 - Shy Guys - Mario Series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Mysterious Masked Entity.
Shy guys are among the oddest foes in the Mario universe. Originally seen in a dream world and then all over Yoshi’s island. They are never seen without their iconic mask and they come in many forms. What is about them that I like? I am not sure, but I find their design simple yet timeless. They may be simple enemies, but I have always found them to be among the best the mushroom kingdom has to offer. These little guys win a spot on the list and secure the rank of number 10! Way to go shy-guy!
-------------------------------
9 - Ring Knight - Dark Souls 3
Tumblr media
Enemy status – Protectors of the Ringed City.
The ringed city’s guardians are menacing foes. Large powerful knights with the dark soul insignia burned onto their armor and wielding large blades of fire. These are some of the deadliest foes the souls series has to offer and they are, in my opinion, some of the best designed. They appear throughout the entire city and are a thrill to fight, especially the one guarding the cathedral or the one randomly found in the far ruined future. These guys are also interesting from a lore perspective, and thus they win the 9th place on this list.
-------------------------------
8 – Bouncer - Bioshock
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Large Father.
The world of rapture is not a pleasant place. It is full of dangers and lethal traps that can end your life very quickly. This is seen in spades with the Bouncer. The Bouncer is one of the big daddies who protect the little sisters. They are usually neutral but can be hostile if antagonized. Thing is though, if you want to progress in the game YOU have to engage them. Be ready for a difficult fight. The bouncer charges without mercy with their drill arm and will attack relentlessly. They offer little breathing room and can be very dangerous at the beginning of the game. The bouncer is the “face” of Bioshock, and thus readily deserves a spot in the top ten! 8th place is good.
-------------------------------
7 - Hell Knight - Doom 3
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – High Ranking Demon.
The beast of hell are no simple cretins, some of them are exceptionally dangerous. This is made very clear with the Hell Knight, high ranking and powerful monsters that often appear in groups of two. They lumber around and throw large fireballs. They also give a rather means punch as well. These guys are among some of the most menacing foes in the DOOM series and while they are not as powerful in the 2016 reboot, they are still a worthy opponent. The Hell Knight wins lucky number 7 on this list.
-------------------------------
6 - Helghast - Killzone series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Soldiers from Helghan.
Of all the pure human enemies, evil armies and what have you, we decide to go the sci-fi route. Say hello to the Helghast. These foes are armed to the teeth and proudly represent their glorious empire. What makes them different from the generic terrorist, thugs and nazis we have all fought in war games? Nothing much, but what makes them iconic is their design. The iconic gas mask and black and white armor set them apart from all others and that is why they make it up here. Because I love their design quite a bit. Do not need much more of a reason that that, welcome to 6th place.
-------------------------------
5 - Lynels - Zelda Breath of the Wild
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Lion-man Centaur
Hyrule is home to many dangerous beasts, but none match the pure ferocity of the Lynel. The mighty Lynel is a fierce monster that has the lower body of a horse, the upper body of a man and the head of a lion. These beasts wield mighty weapons such as swords, clubs or bows and are capable of breathing fire. Nothing is scarier than one of these charging you at full speed! It takes skill and might to take one down and revel in the spoils of battle. Just be careful, because they can take a long time to best in combat. These monsters win the 5th place award.
-------------------------------
4 - Deathclaws - Fallout Series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Mutated Jackson Chameleon.
The deathclaw is the apex predator of the wasteland and is among one of the most feared enemies of the wasteland. Many inexperienced adventurers met their end at the clawed hands of one of these walking death machines. They come in many different colors and sizes, but one thing is consistent, they are big, and they are aggressive. If you cross one early on your journey, be ready for a wicked fight. These iconic post-apocalyptic foes win 4th place!
-------------------------------
3 - Darknuts - Zelda Series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Heavily Armored Dark Knight.
And the Zelda series finds a its place on this spot once again. The Lynel is the apex monster, but the darknut is the pinnacle of the humanoid enemy. These are among the original dark knight enemies in the history of video games. Regardless, the Darknut is an imposing figure that is a skilled fighter and a sturdy tank. They can dish out punishment and take a lot of damage. The closer they get to defeat, the more desperate and fast they get in retaliation. It is always a blast to fight one, and it can be a challenge to take multiples at once. Congrats on your 3rd place! Can you tell that I like knights?
-------------------------------
2 - Tonberry - Final Fantasy series
Tumblr media
Enemy status – The embodiment of vengeance.
The tonberry is a dangerous foe. They are small unassuming enemies, they creep towards you slowly and raise a small knife. They stab and it does massive damage. These guys are among the most dangerous foes in the final fantasy and its great. Why is it great? Because they look so cute and unassuming, it can slay behemoths and other great monsters with ease despite its tiny stature. They get stronger with the more enemies you have slain.  So, they win a spot for their cute looks and lethal abilities in combat. Welcome to 2nd place, Tonberry!
-------------------------------
1 - Elites - Halo series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – The covenants finest (until the Brutes showed up.)
The covenant is among the most feared empires in sci-fi history. Encompassing several races attempting to carry out a religion fueled genocide across the entire galaxy. The pinnacle of their militant forces are the elites. These aliens are mighty foes that rarely ever retreat or back down, they will fight tooth and nail to the bitter end. Even the lowest ranking elite is a dangerous opponent. They lead the lesser races into combat and should be taken out quickly to demoralize the other lesser enemies. Once Halo 3 rolled around they sided with the humans and have become allies. So, the elites are my favorite enemies in video games. They have amazing designs, are fun to fight and are intimidating foes to take down. They are a shining example of what makes a good enemy. Congrats, you wont the 1st place!
-------------------------------
And finnaly, after all this time it is completed, thank you all. We are actually already near 200 followers! Holy Cheese puffs! That’s a lot of people! I will be primarily doing video game reviews for a while, as I am running out of obscure characters to write about! But you can expect more list later down the line as well! Once we hit 200 followers Ill have a Q&A set aside for people who wanna ask me stuff! Ill answer the first 20 ask, then ill try to work on any others if I have the time. Take care!

100 FOLLOWERS MEGA SPECIAL AWESOME 10 PART EVENT TOP 100 ENEMIES PART 9
The penultimate part of this long special. I am very sorry for the long wait. My life has been bust lately. Anyway, lets get going and look at the final 10 of the random order list, remember, part 1-9 is in no particular order, but the final 10 of the next part are, lets begin!
Turret - Portal Series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Stationary motion sensor turret.
The turrets are stationary enemies encountered in the Portal Series. They detect motion and open fire. The way to defeat them is to either knock them over or throw them off a ledge, this will cause them to shut down. They are virtually the same as the turrets from the half life 2 game, but they are cuter. The turret gives little chatters and so on. Their cute voice makes them iconic and witty, so they win a spot on the list.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Clickers - The Last of Us
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Grotesque deformed infected.
One of the creepiest enemies on this list, the clicker is the iconic foe from the hit game “The Last of Us”. Clickers are blind, horrifying creatures that get their name from the clicking noise they emit. They use these clicks in order to “see”. If a Clicker spots prey it lets out a shriek and charges, resulting usually in the preys quick, painful demise. Clickers are best dealt with stealthily, better have a shiv on hand, or a well-placed headshot or two. These iconic foes win a spot on this list for sure.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Octolings – Splatoon
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Elite enemy of the inklings
The Octolings are special enemy units in the original splatoon game. These elite octarians are more advance then the simple enemies that have been fought up to that point. They function similar to the inklings and thus combat against them should be treated like a standard turf war game. They have their own Ink which is beneficial to them but detrimental to the player. Because they act like actual enemy players, they can be a breath of fresh air enemy wise. So these foes win a spot on the list.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Starman – Earthbound
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Alien soldier
This iconic RPG enemy without a doubt deserves a spot of recognition. The star men are alien soldiers from Giygas army. These creatures are among the first user pf PSI and are very capable fighters. They have various ranks and will often stand as roadblocks in between the heroes and Giygas. Simply due to their iconic nature and the fact that they are from a game that many hold dear to their hearts, the starman wins a spot.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Kremling - Donkey Kong Country
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Footsoldier of King K. Rool
That’s right, the standard Kremling makes the list! Many side scrollers have the standard first enemy, the motobug for sonic, the goomba for Mario, DK gets a big buff crocodile to compete with. The Kremling isn’t all that special enemy wise, they just tend to walk in a straight line or patrol small platforms. Some of them can even jump, making them a little trickier to dispatch! These foes win a spot on this list not only to represent the DK series, but also to represent the ‘first enemy’ group.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Big Bruty - Earthworm Jim
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Hostile alien dinosaur.
Big Bruty is a large brutish alien that only appears in the earthworm jim special edition. This monster will chase Jim through the level. It is invincible while it violently pursues the worm, but if it crashes into a wall it will be rendered vulnerable. I have memories as a child trying so hard to avoid this monster, it was almost scary! Most people don’t even recognize this monster but I do, and because of that nostalgic impact it had on me, it wins a spot on this list.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Mantis Warrior - Hollow Knight
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Adult Mantis warrior.
The Mantis tribe is a group of bugs that opposed the Hollownest and the pale king, and while the great civilization fell, these primitive warriors persist and survived. They use their blade like arms to attack anyone who enters their domain. They are fast and dangerous enemies at that point in the game. However, once their leaders are defeated, they become friendly to the knight. This shows that they value strength and are more than just savages. Because of their cool design and their nature, they win a spot on the list and represent Hollow Knight.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Dark Skeletons - Demon Souls
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Powerful Undead
Keep in mind that Demon Souls does not count as a Dark Souls game. With that being said it was a tough choice to make, there are a lot of enemies in this game, but some of the cooler looking ones can be very annoying. Here we have one of the most challenging enemies in the game, the black skeleton. These dual wielding foes can really lay the smack down if you let them. They can be challenging to defeat but rewarding as well. They also have a small chance of dropping one of the rarest items in the game so if you’re a completionist odds are you and these creeps are going to become well acquainted. Welcome to the list you creep.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Yoki – Nioh
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Demon.
The Yoki is a powerful Demon that appears in Nioh. These foes appear very early on in the game and are much stronger than the standard enemies you have fought up to that point. A single Yoki can be an incredibly demanding foe for a new player and can serve as a good way to teach the players how to deal with them. I have not played much of Nioh, so I am not sure if these guys get easier as the game goes on, but their presence in the first few missions can be very intimidating. Luckily they do not respond after slayed for the first time. These creatures win a spot on the list as a menacing early game enemy.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Specimen 8 - Spooky's jumpscares mansion
Tumblr media
Enemy status – Deer god.
When that eerie classical jingle begins to play you better watch out, specimen 8 is on the hunt. While specimen 8 is not much different in concept to the other specimens, perhaps being one of the simplest ones, it is one of the eeriest. It is the only specimen in the main game that can speak, and it can cause eerie hallucinations as well. Save your ax swings for something else, and just run away from this monster. This spooky foe wins a spot on the list. Because of its eerie impact and its design, it was a tough call though, this game has some really memorable foes.
----------------------------------------------------------------
And thus we conclude part 9. Thank you to all my followers old and new. Part 10 will be soon! Then we will be back to game reviews!

100 FOLLOWER MEGA SPECIAL AWESOME 10 PART EVENT TOP 100 ENEMIES                                     Part 8
Well, now we are at part 8! We are almost done…about time im running out of enemies to write about! Let us continue on!
Orbide – starbound
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Unnerving alien foe.
Very few creatures in the universe of starbound are more eerie than the Orbide. These monsters shuffle slowly, limping along. They are tall and faceless monsters. They shuffle aimlessly until spotting their prey, to which they raise their blade like fin and attack! They can be creepy when encountered at night or in the dark, so take extreme caution while exploring! This odd spook win a spot on this list.
--------------------------------
Ashworm – Darksiders
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Giant Worm.
The Ashworm is a gargantuan species of demonic worms that inhabit the desert. They are capable of feeling vibration and can very easily eat War Whole. Because of this, War cannot cross the desert, as he would be incapable of felling one before it eats him. This makes them horrifying obstacles. However, once War retrieves his horse, they can be slayed. Its fun leading them on and shooting at them, the adrenaline is high when these massive worms finally fall. The Ashworm wins a spot on this list, representing the Darksiders universe.
--------------------------------
Titans - Resistance Series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Large Alien brute.
The titan is a massive enemy unit in the resistance series. Often high-ranking units that lead lesser Chimera into battle. Being so strong, they can use weapons better suited for tanks, making them very deadly. Pair that with being armored at times and these foes are deadly beast. Luckily, they are slow and lumbering, a few headshots will take them down. These brutes get to represent the resistance series and get a spot on the list because of their intimidation factor.
--------------------------------
Rathalos - Monster Hunter
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – High ranked Dragon monster.
One of the most famous monster hunter monsters. These territorial dragon-like monsters are among the most famous creatures in the monster hunter bestiary. Known for their aggressive nature and their deadly breath, these creatures are not something a novice hunter should dare to cross. It takes skill, experience and good equipment to fell a Rathalos. They have appeared in ever monster hunter game and even in other games, making them one of the most well-known enemies in gaming. These iconic beasts win a spot on the list.
--------------------------------
Grunts - Halo series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Low ranking covenant race.
The grunts are the most common foot soldier in the Covenant army. These little guys are known for their squeaky voices, bad aim and cowardly demeanor. They are often armed with weak plasma pistols, but some can carry deadly fuel rod cannons. They appear in every halo game, some more intimidating than others. These guys are at their peak when they can speak English, because it turns out they are quite funny. Despite this, these enemies are little more than canon fodder and usually do not pose any threat. Still, they win a spot on the list.
--------------------------------
Phantom - Persona 3
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Magical Shadow.
The shadows are dark manifestations in the world of Persona. They come in many bizarre shapes and forms. However, my favorite shadow so far is the creepy phantom. These guys are actually kinda tough to lower level players. They spin in place and cast powerful spells at their enemies. This is gonna sound funny, but I like them because they are similar to a character of my own. So, for this enemy, its on the list for personal reasons and that’s ok. These guys win a spot on the list.
--------------------------------
Pursuit Cop - Mirror's Edge
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – High Ranking Specialized law enforcement.
In the parkour world of Mirror’s Edge, it is easy to avoid law enforcement. Being able to jump from building to building, climb walls and slide down slopes. Usually you just have to avoid being shot by the police and security barely able to keep up with you. This changes when the pursuit cops come into play. These armored foes are just as capable as parkour as you are, and will, as the name implies, pursue you through the game. They attack in groups and are rather fast and intimidating. They are skilled at hand to hand combat as well, making them even more dangerous. These foes win a spot on the list.
--------------------------------
Fallen - Devil May Cry 3
Tumblr media
Enemy status – Fallen angel.
As a demon slayer, you must be ready for anything, as evil takes many forms. Sometimes even the purest fall to darkness, this is shown with the fallen. Her wings protect her from attacks and her javelin is powerful. They are among some of the more annoying enemies yes, but their design is memorable enough to win them a spot on this list. She prefers ranged attacks and will try to keep out of your reach, so close that gap!
--------------------------------
Mummies – Eldritch
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Wandering sandy monster.
The mummies are enemies that inhabit one of the several dungeons in the game Eldritch. These creepy creatures give small sighs and stuttered breaths upon seeing the player. They shuffle closely and will collapse upon themselves when slain. However, they come back. These monsters are neigh invincible. Every attack simply stuns them. They are eerie and disturbing and rather memorable. For these reasons, the mummy wins a spot on this list.
--------------------------------
Armor Mite - Salt and Sanctuary
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Macabre humanoid monster.
A large cave dwelling monster is an amalgamation of a beast and one of its unfortunate victims. These creatures are rare enemies in Salt and Sanctuary, they are large sword wielding monsters that attack on sight, very territorial and rather powerful. Luckily, they are slow and easy to dodge once you get the timing down. They can be bad when paired with other monsters as well. Does it remind you of a Lovecraftian pyramid head? Because that’s what it reminds me of.

Part 7! We are almost there! Thank you all so much for reading and enjoying my work! I appreciate it so much. And thank you to the many new followers that have joined since I started this special of mine, you are all awesome! Let’s get on with part 7!
Metrocops - Half Life 2
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Militant Police Officer.
The Metro Cop is the most basic foot soldier of the combine forces. They are often in charge of civil services and guard the cities of the post-combine-controlled world. They are often lightly armed, usually with a stun stick and a handgun. They are quick to execute police brutality on citizens for virtually any reason. These faceless soldiers have forsaken their humanity to the combine forces. There are much more dangerous units, but these are perhaps the most iconic. This gas mask wearing officer wins a spot on the list.
-------------------------------------------------
Redeads - Zelda Ocarina of Time
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Magically created monster.
One of the creepiest creatures of hyrule. The ReDead appears to be a zombie wearing a wooden mask. They often lay still, moaning or remaining eerily quiet. They awaken when prey is near and let out a horrifying scream to stun link. It approaches and tries to strangle the life out of Link. They can take quite a few hits before going down and most are immune to sub weapons, meaning you need to get close to these monsters to finish them off. In the land of Termina they are known to be dancers, which makes them a bit less creepy. These foes win a spot on the list and in the nightmares of many children.
-------------------------------------------------
Kantus - Gears of War
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Locust Support Unit.
The Kantus is a priest unit of the Locust Horde. They are known for their screams that strike fear into their enemies and reinvigorate their allies. They are usually found wielding two guns at once and are often at the back of the line, supporting other units. In combat they are quite powerful, capable of dodging and fighting tooth and nail against their foes. There exists a dangerous armored variant as well that can be a pain to put down. Bottom line is the Kantus is a high priority target, and they are not to be trifled with easily. They win a spot on the list.
-------------------------------------------------
Geckos - MGS4/ReVengence
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Unmanned Anti-Infantry unit.
A threat to make any soldier afraid, the GECKO is a powerful anti-infantry bipedal weapon. They can take a lot of damage and can attack in groups. They have an intimidating roar and plenty of weapons to crush their foes. When the GECKOS show up, the best course of action is to find a way to avoid them. However, they are no match for a skilled cyborg ninja. Sadly, the first time we encounter them, we are in the shoes of an old man, no ninja sword. These intimidating foes win a spot on the list for sure.
-------------------------------------------------
Imp - DOOM 2016
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Low Ranking Demon
Possibly one of the best character redesigns I have seen. The Imp is a classic foe in the Doom series, being one of the first enemies the Doom Guy ever encountered. In the Reboot these enemies are plentiful, appearing in hordes and bombarding the DOOM Slayer with scratches and fireballs. Nothing a skilled shot or punch to the face can’t fix. These guys win a spot on the list thanks to their redesign, they are just so cool looking!
-------------------------------------------------
Dark Knights - Dark Souls
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Powerful Knight
The Dark Knight is a powerful and loyal Knight of Gwyn. They are few in numbers but are among some of the most dangerous enemies in Dark Souls. These Knights were once dragon slayers, then demon slayers, they have conquered many foes and they come with a variety of weapons. Be ready for a tough fight if you attack one, especially at the early stages of the game. Also, if you’re lucky they may drop their weapons, and they have some good weapons. These foes deserve a spot on the list, they are classic Dark Souls enemies.
-------------------------------------------------
Nymph – Terraria
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Malevolent female monster.
The Nymph is an extremely rare enemy found in the caverns of Terraria. They go under the disguise of a lost girl. They appear lost and alone in the dangerous and dark underground world, so what is an adventurer to do? Well, most approach, wanting to help, only for the Lost Girl to transform into a nymph and viciously attack! The Nymph is as relentless ad it is rare, and many people can go entire runs without finding one! So, why do I like them? Simple, the thrill of actually finding one can cause one to explore deeper into the caves. These rare enemies win a spot on this list and represent Terraria.
-------------------------------------------------
Hunter - Left 4 Dead
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Special infected.
These guys are one of the many strains of special infected that roam the world of Left 4 Dead. They stalk the living, hiding in the shadows until they can pounce on their prey and rip into them. They are vicious and opportunistic enemies. These liber foes can leap great lengths and can be lethal with a horde of other zombies. They are essentially zombie ninjas and that’s scary. These guys win a spot on the list and just narrowly beat out the Witch and the Tank as the representative of the Left 4 Dead series.
-------------------------------------------------
Closer - Silent Hill 3
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Embodiment of the fear of touch.
Sometimes touch is scary, this is prevalent in the monster known as the Closer. Heather, a strong capable teenage girl, but still a single teenage girl. The primal fear one has of being mishandles is embodied in this monster. With its long outstretched malformed limbs and lumbering stature, it towers over Heather and shuffles closer to her. Its frame so large that it blocks hallways, making escape difficult. This monster is one of the scariest monsters to come out of the silent Hill series, and they are very memorable. They win a spot on this list and in your restless dreams.
-------------------------------------------------
Hector - Earth Defense Force
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Large Attack Robot.
Their status says it all, these are giant evil robots. They sometimes appear in large numbers or accompanied by other monsters, aliens or giant bugs. They are relentless, powerful titans that can take a lot of punishment before going down. These mighty units can turn the tide of battle with ease, and only skilled soldiers can take one down. When one is taken down, it is glorious, for nothing is more satisfying in these battles then to see the 40 foot tall evil robot finally succumb to your barrage and fall.

100 FOLLOWER MEGA SPECIAL AWESOME 10 PART EVENT TOP 100 ENEMIES                                       PART 6
Part 6! Woo! We are in the ladder half now! Lets keep going!
Super Mutants - Fallout series
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – “Evolved” human.
The Super Mutant is the most recurring enemy in the Fallout series. These mutants were once humans exposed to the forced evolution virus and have since gone mad. They are violent and brutal and hunt humans and others in a pack of sorts. They come in various shapes and sizes and wield various weapons ranging from simple wooden boards to Gatling laser guns. These beasts lost most of their humanity, and with some exceptions are almost always hostile. They are fun to fight, and it can be exhilarating to take a pack of them down. They make the list because of their memorable presence.
------------------------------------------------
Replica Assassin - F.E.A.R
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Super Soldier capable of invisibility.
The Replica assassins are among the scariest non-paranormal entities in the FEAR universe. These limber, ninja like foes can dash about and cling to walls. Capable of ambushing the player at any given moment. They are invisible until they are just in front of you. Nothing a shotgun blast can’t fix though. These guys are among the most memorable of the replica units, and they are a force to be reckoned with. They sneak their way into the list and represent the FEAR games.
------------------------------------------------
Satyrs - God of War
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Greek Monster
The satyrs are among some of the coolest and most dangerous foes in the original God of War. They are graceful monsters, powerful and rather irritating to fight.  They are among some of the most dangerous foes Kratos can face, being able to fight on par with him and can be deadly. They have a arrangement of weapons and are quite acrobatic as well. For being such a cool representation of a classical monster, and for being a challenging foe, the Satyr wins a spot on this list.
------------------------------------------------
Shadow of Yahrnam – Bloodborne
Tumblr media
Enemy status – Powerful guardians of the queen.
The ringwraiths…I mean the shadows are powerful humanoid foes encountered in Bloodborne. They first appear as a difficult trio boss fight and then later on as normal enemies. They wield maces, katanas and lanterns and seem to have an affinity for snakes. These guys just have a cool design and can be challenging to go toe to toe against. Especially the boss fight where you must balance all three of them, but this isn’t a list about bosses. They tend to travel in groups, so picking them off one at a time is the wisest decision. They are susceptible to being parried as well. They represent Bloodborne on this list.
------------------------------------------------
Metroids – Metroid
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Alien parasite.
The Metroids are among some of the most famous video game enemies around. These parasites float around and suck the life out of their prey. They are dangerous and often weaponized by the space pirates. They have been somewhat of a bane to Samus’ life for a long time now. They are tricky foes, needing to be frozen before destroyed in some games. They can also be quite numerous and grow to large sizes as well. They can also mutate. These classic enemies deserve a spot on this list!
------------------------------------------------
Behemoth - Final Fantasy Series
Tumblr media
Enemy status – Colossal and aggressive beast.
Another classic foe, and a dangerous one at that. The Behemoth is a large monster that is a difficult threat to overcome, appearing in most final fantasy games, the behemoth serves as a powerful late game foe. Behmoths are fierce physical attackers and can also have access to dangerous magic as well. They come in many shapes and sizes, from the average Behemoth to the mighty Behemoth King. They are powerful, brutal and deadly, and they win a spot on this list for sure.
------------------------------------------------
Shades - Dragon Age
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Ghostly monster.
Shades are powerful dark monsters in the world of Dragon age. These creatures are mighty and durable, capable of casting powerful magic and illusions. They can disguise themselves as normal things and assault those who draw close. They are a challenge to best and can be a devastating foe to a low leveled party. These creatures have cool designs and fighting them can be quite memorable especially if its your first time encountering one. They win a spot on the list and represent the Dragon Age series.
------------------------------------------------
The Geth - Mass Effect
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Automatic robotic soldiers.
The Geth are the primary antagonistic force of the mass effect series, serving as foot soldiers for the reapers. They come in many shapes, sizes and colors and can wield a variety of weapons and other devices. The Geth are mechanical and can survive in environments too hostile for other forms of life. They are also quite macabre at times as well. They win a spot on this list due to their design, I love it. The glowing ‘eye’ and the odd shape of their bodies make them seem otherworldly and its great. The Geth win a spot on this list.
------------------------------------------------
Bride - Brutal Legend
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Tragic undead.
Speaking of cool designs, hailing from the lands of Brutal Legend comes the bride. The bride is a unit for the Drowning Doom faction. She has the ability to slow down enemy units and turn the tide in a battle. What’s worse is that their speed debuff stacks with more brides in the vicinity. They have an aptitude for lightning-based attacks as well. While they are not the most devastating attackers, they can be good units and their design is awesome, I love the colors. So, the Bride finds herself on the list. Good to see Brutal Legend get some representation yeah?
------------------------------------------------
Dongo - Lost Planet
Tumblr media
Enemy Status – Beetle like alien.
There exist many akraids in the Lost Planet series. Some the size of a dog, some the size of a building. They are dangerous, hostile aliens that attack humans on sight and are often very territorial. The Dongo, not to be confused with Zelda’s Dodongos, is one such threat. Being the size of a tank, these large beetles will try to crush their foes with their body and claws. Their weak spots are on their backside, and their front is mostly defended. Fighting these things involves a lot of maneuvering to get around them, and that can be pretty fun. These large beetles find a spot on this list!
--------------------------------------------
Hope you guys are having a good new year so far! See you next time for part 7!
