Clutter. It’s one of those things that slowly creeps up on us and expands around us as life gets busy. Before we know it our work space is surrounded by it, we’re surrounded by it in our cars, and in our living spaces. Did you know that clutter and having an over-abundance of “stuff” is also a source of STRESS in our lives? And did you know that #stress is a contributing factor in chronic health conditions? When you declutter your space, whether that be getting rid of clothes you no longer wear, those stacks of papers and magazines that mount up over time, excessive kitchen gadgets you don’t use, towels that have more than served their purpose, etc., you are actually detoxifying your life and freeing your mind to be more open to creative thought and…you are reducing the stress in your life! I love the minimalist lifestyle I’ve adopted having gone through literally every item in my home and evaluated what REALLY matters to me to keep in my space. It has been a transformative experience. One method I have adopted to keeping clutter at bay is not bringing excess stuff into the house. When I check my mail, I quickly sort it at the mailbox and determine what is necessary to bring into the house and attend to, and which items go immediately into the nearest recycling container. It takes less than 60 seconds to do this sorting and prevents unnecessary stacks of papers/fliers to sort through later. #declutter #clutter #minimalistlifestyle #minimalistliving #stressrelief #chronicillness #stressreduction #clutteristoxic #detoxifyyourspace https://www.instagram.com/thriving_primally/p/BumyKeNnwNB/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ekgk75ngm3yd

I made myself a new batch of deodorant this week. I do everything I can to limit my chemical exposure, so I am very conscious not only of what I choose to put into my body, but what I choose to put onto my body as well. For quite a while I was just using straight up baking soda as my deodorant, but found that it could be irritating, especially during hot weather, so I’ve been experimenting with different recipes. This is the first time I’ve used melaleuca in a recipe, and not sure I’m in love because I don’t love the smell of melaleuca, so I’ll probably use something different in a future batch. • Here’s the recipe I used for this batch: 2 tbsp coconut oil 2 tbsp Shea butter 1 tbsp baking soda 2 tbsp arrowroot powder 1.5 tbsp bentonite clay 2 drops melaleuca essential oil 2 drops grapefruit essential oil 2 drops geranium essential oil Directions: 1. In a small pan, melt the coconut oil and Shea butter. 2. Remove from heat, then add remaining ingredients and mix well. 3. Allow to cool and pour into an airtight container. Then next year will solidify in a few hours. #homemadedeodorant #toxinfree #cleanerbeauty #saferpersonalcare #healthylivingtips (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/thriving_primally/p/BucLEvon2_a/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=v2yyh19hk4yb

My calf is injured and it’s all my fault. • I tore it about a month ago less than 1/2 mile into a hike and had to hobble back to my car. It felt a tad tight that morning, but I ignored my body’s whispering warning to go easy. • I rested and thought it had healed, but again I ignored the little whispers my body gave me and did something I shouldn’t have. • And then again. • It seems that box jumps, jump roping and sprints are a bad idea when you have a pulled calf muscle. 🤦🏻‍♀️ • I should know better. I do know better. Sometimes I need to keep my ego in check so that I can continue to do all the things I love to do, and not be sidelined by nagging injuries. • Fortunately I found Dr J @thesportsphysician who is not only helping me get back to 100% by removing adhesions, but by finding and addressing the underlying cause of the issue to begin with...almost no ankle mobility! • This weekend, and until my body’s whispers tell me to go ahead, I’m taking it easy and doing lower impact movement, including strolling the farmer’s market with a friend and a trip to the beach with my best friend Maple. 🙏👊🏼 #listentoyourbody #radicalselfcare #selfcare #getoutside #yorkie #yorkiesofinstagram (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs1n0EOHDt3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wte5qcbtb3q2

The mess I made making my butter mushroom coffee with my new immersion blender was smaller this morning on day three than it was on days one and two. I call that a win. Isn’t that how everything is in life? When you try something new, there is a learning curve involved. We tend to give up on things when we don’t see immediate success…if we’re not good at something new right away, and if it seems just plain hard. Failures are great teachers, but we can’t learn from those teachers if we give up before we even start with proclamations of “I’m not good at that”. This applies to literally everything, including making changes in lifestyle habits, work habits such as scheduling your day (something I’ve been giving a lot of attention to), meditation practice (it’s called a PRACTICE) for a reason, playing an instrument, cooking, etc. If you want to make a change to your lifestyle or learn something new, but you’ve been avoiding it because you think it’ll be too hard or you won’t be good at it, you’re making an excuse my friend. Success doesn’t come to those who quit. When I was a classroom teacher I used to say to my classes at the start of every year, “We are going to do very hard work in this classroom this year, because I’m not going to insult you by giving you easy work. Smart is not what you already are, it’s what you get by working hard.” When a student would whine about something being hard, I would exclaim, “That’s great! I told you we would do hard work in here this year, and I’m keeping that promise. You’re getting smarter!” There was no expectation of perfection, just effort. When we start to view failure as an opportunity for growth, that’s when the real magic begins to happen. Someday soon, I will have the perfect butter mushroom coffee without needing to clean up a mess on the counter. Until then, I’ll just enjoy what’s remaining in the cup. #mindset #healthyhabits #mindsetboss #healthisajourney #takeactionnow #empowerment #foursigmatic #mushroomcoffee #buttercoffee #meditation #failure #practice #selfcare (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsx6UNkHxBD/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1nk2b5o83390d

For lasting results, find your WHY!
If you’re like many people I know, you may have come into the new year with gusto, saying “2019 is my year to get healthy!” … or “lose weight!” … or “get fit!” But, if you’re like 80% of people, by February, your initial excitement will have waned and the resolution long forgotten.
Life got busy.
Temptations arose.
Friends and family were assholes and did not share in your enthusiasm about your new healthy lifestyle. In fact, they were downright resistant and unsupportive. The husband brought home doughnuts and cookies. Colleagues brought cookies and pizza to the office. Friends invited you out for drinks and pub fare. Jerks.
Cravings for your favorite comfort food got the best of you. And dammit, you EARNED it because you went to the gym four days this week and had salads with dinner every single night last week! Can I give you a little hint? You don’t EARN junk food. You simply make a choice to put it into your mouth, and the choice is always yours. Sorry to be a killjoy.
Old habits, like parasites, worked their way back in.
You blame it on willpower. “I just don’t have enough.”
Ninety-five percent. The research shows that 95% of people who establish a health or weight loss goal fall flat of reaching that goal at all, or fail in the long-run by gaining all that weight (or more) back. Not good odds, and how can you be part of the measly 5% who see long-term success?
The answer lies in the word “why”.
If stopping and starting and stopping and starting has been a recurring pattern for you in your journey towards better health, then I suggest you DIG DEEP and establish your big WHY. And let me tell you something right now, my friend--a shallow or superficial reason such as fitting into size 4 jeans, or losing 15 pounds for your wedding, or getting a swimsuit body for an upcoming vacation, or running a marathon in October is not a big enough WHY.
Why not? Because your WHY needs to be much, much bigger. Because when you get to that size 4 or lose those 15 pounds, the vacation or the athletic achievement is over, then what? Did you achieve that ultimate state of happiness that you thought you’d have when you reached that superficial goal? The research indicates that this is not the case.
I tell my clients and participants in my group programs that in order to achieve long-term success, you need to have a deep emotional connection to your why. When you think about your why, you should have a visceral reaction in your gut, get goosebumps, a catch in your throat, and big fat tears welling up in your eyes. Your why should be big enough that it takes you well beyond superficial short-term goals and keeps you fired up to prioritize your health for the long-term (i.e. for LIFE!). To make “being healthy” just part of who you are. When other people think of you, they think of you as healthy (among your other awesome qualities that will shine through even more when you’re healthy from the inside out).
To find your big WHY, I suggest you sit your butt down with a pencil and paper and make a list of ten reasons you’re unsatisfied with your health the way it is in this very moment. In other words, what it is it about your current state of health that creates limitation in your life? What can’t you do that you want to be able to do? What do you see yourself not being able to do five, ten, or twenty years from now because of your current state of health?
Then, turn that list around and make a list of how your quality of life would be improved if your life wasn’t limited by those things. What could you do or have that you can’t do or have right now because of your health?
What is it that you really want? Why?
Who do you want to be? Why?
How do you want to feel? Why?
How do you want to show up for your family, friends, colleagues, the world? Why?
In other words, figure out what the most important, highly valued things are to you in life (you’re going to find some themes) and use those things as a focal point for your reason to get and remain healthy. Really, if you’re serious about getting healthy, you’ll take the time to sit down and do this exercise. Or stand at the counter and write it. I don’t give a shit whether you sit or stand to write your list, just do it!
Keep going with your list. THINK FUTURE. Thirty days from now...ninety days...six months...five years...twenty years, and so on. High performance coach Brendon Burchard says that successful, high performance people think about the future...constantly. So thinking in the moment about satisfying your current whims ain't gonna get you to better health. I’m sorry.
I’ve seen it time and again...folks get themselves all fired up about getting healthy, signing themselves up for a health challenge (even those that I’ve run), and going into it ALL IN. Well, sortof all in. I mean, for the 30 days or so of the challenge, that is. Maybe even for the following week or month. They see all sorts of improvements in the way they feel, their energy, their sleep, their skin.
But then, something happens. Life gets busy. Social gatherings happen. Their family doesn’t share their enthusiasm about their new healthy ways. Old habits slowly sneak their way back in. Before they know it, they’re staying up well past their bedtime and their cart at the grocery store is filled with Doritos and Oreos (“Hey, it’s kid food. Gotta stock my house with snacks for the kiddos.” I’m just going to resist the urge to diverge down THAT rabbit hole right now.) instead of meat and vegetables. Their cars steer themselves right into the drive-thrus at Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds. But they’re still hitting the gym 3-5 days per week, so hey, it’s all good, right? Wrong.
WHY does this keep happening? Because those folks have not identified a big enough why. They’re too focused on short-term superficial goals like the number on the scale, or the measuring tape, or PRs they’ve hit at the gym this week. F*ck the scale. F*ck the measuring tape. F*ck the PRs. These things tell you nothing about real health and what’s going on inside your body.
My personal WHY came to me after a 20-month health crisis that ravaged my body and spirit had me questioning what was really important to me in this world; wondering if I would be around to witness all the major milestones in my two boys’ lives...first girlfriends, athletic achievements, graduations, careers, weddings, grandkids. This was after over two decades of suffering from chronic health issues that I just couldn’t seem to resolve no matter how many doctor visits I made or how many medications I took. And I was no slouch either. I had several marathons under my belt, including multiple Boston marathons, which I’d qualified for. The scale told me that I was a “healthy” weight. My size 2 pants fit just right (well, maybe a little loose). I was a high achiever in my career. My blood work always came back normal. I looked pretty good on the outside, aside from the humiliating acne, which I got really good at covering with makeup.
But my body told me something was wrong. Really wrong. And it seemed nobody could help me, so I decided to help myself because I decided I wanted to be there for all the major milestones in my kids’ lives. I wasn’t ready to throw in the towel, and I also wasn’t willing to live a sub-par life struggling with chronic symptoms that sucked the joy out of every minute.
Through digging deep and educating myself I learned that many of the foods I was eating were making me sick. I learned that I was over-exercising, adding stress to my already struggling body. I learned that my sleep habits were really harming my health, and gave up the sleep deprivation badge of honor. I learned that the thoughts I was allowing to take up space in my brain were causing additional stress that was also keeping me sick. I made becoming healthy a priority, and made it a priority to change my habits...permanently...in order to achieve that goal. It didn’t happen overnight in the same way that my poor health hadn’t happened overnight...it was the result of many years of not honoring my body.
After recovering from my 20-month health crisis, I realized that I had been suffering from chronic symptoms for SO LONG (decades) that I hadn’t even realized what it felt like to be healthy! That state of waking up each morning fully rested and ready to tackle whatever the day has to offer, free of symptoms, and feeling as alert and energetic in the afternoon as I did first thing in the morning. It was, and continues to be, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I find that this is the case with all of my clients as well, because when you’ve been suffering from chronic symptoms for years you come to forget what it feels like to feel good...you just begin to see the symptoms as part of “getting older, which is the dogma we’ve been told to believe.
Here’s a partial list of what keeps me motivated to stay the course, even when temptations arise…my big WHYs:
1. I know what it feels like to be healthy. I also know what it feels like to feel like SH!T every single day. I don’t ever want to go back to that dark place.
2. I want to experience and enjoy all my young-adult boys’ major milestones.
3. If and when I have grandchildren, I want to have the energy and physical mobility to play with them and take them on fun adventures, to get up and down from the floor without assistance.
4. If I live to be over 100, barring no tragic accidents between now and then, I want to fully enjoy each and every day of it without pain or disability. Quality of life matters. Who cares if you live to be 110, if you are riddled with miserable symptoms all the time? That would suck.
5. No matter what age I live to, I want to be able to travel and not be limited in the types of activities I can participate in, whether that be a difficult hike or a high-speed jet boat adventure.
6. No matter what age I live to, I want to be able to take care of my own business in the bathroom. I would think pride matters at any age.
7. I want to have full brain function until the day I die so that I can have intelligent conversations with my great grandkids.
Notice how my list does not include anything about a number on the scale or pants size or hitting PRs in the gym? Does that mean I don’t have any short-term goals? No, it just means that I’m focused on the bigger picture. Your big WHY needs to be big enough that it keeps you inspired to make being healthy a LIFESTYLE, and that voice in your ear that reminds you why you should leave that package of Oreos on the shelf at the store instead of adding them to your cart.
The common denominator is happiness. We all want happiness, right? Feeling like crap tends to suck the joy right out of your life.
“But I’m busy! I work full-time and I have kids.” Yeah, yeah. I’ve heard it all before. We’re all busy. Folks, lots of people have done amazing things in this world while being busy (and short on funds). When I dragged myself up from the depths of despair, I was busy. I worked full-time, I had two kids with sports schedules to keep up with, homework to help with in the evenings, meals to cook, a house to maintain. Oh, and I was taking classes for a Master’s Degree program. I had a budget, and I paid a lot of money on my quest to reclaim my life. I get it. But I made my health and happiness a PRIORITY and I found my WHY!
If you want to become deeply healthy, you must make health a high level PRIORITY, which means you find a way to fit it into your time and budget no matter what. Health is a lifelong journey, not a 30 day sprint. Temptations will arise. Friends and family will be unsupportive. You’ll get home late and have nothing prepared for dinner. To overcome these obstacles, you must have a plan and a deep and emotional value-driven WHY.
What is it that you need to get there? A mentor/coach? An accountability partner? Do you have the tools and knowledge necessary to get there, or do you need some help? If you have some chronic long-term health issues or autoimmunity, I can help you get to the bottom of your health issues and get you feeling like (or better than) yourself again. In my practice, I use functional lab testing to investigate HIDDEN internal causes of stress on the body in addition to providing education, resources, accountability, and mentoring.
If you need help figuring out what foods are right for your body, the lifestyle tools and habits you need to employ, and HIDDEN causes of your niggling symptoms so that you have the energy and vitality to enjoy life again, schedule a complimentary Empowered Health Discovery Session here. You CAN be the BOSS of your health for life, and I can help you get there!
I also provide group coaching opportunities for businesses and gyms, which can be done virtually or in-person, so contact me if you want more information about that.
Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is good health. Find your WHY and make it a PRIORITY to do what it takes to get there! Honor your future self by taking care of your body today.

I’ve been making a point to get outside as early in the day as possible to expose my body and eyes to natural daylight. I’ve also been avoiding wearing sunglasses whenever possible so that my eyes are getting unblocked exposure to the light. This helps to stimulate the natural production of the #neurotransmitter #serotonin which helps to regulate mood, feelings of #happiness and helps to prepare me for a good night’s #sleep. Who knew that a good night’s sleep started shortly after waking up? Sometimes I do a walking #meditation but often I use it as an opportunity for learning and personal growth, listening to my favorite podcasts and audiobooks so that I can be the best version of me and the best #healthcoach to my clients. This morning’s podcast was an episode about pushing through #fear on #thebrendonshow and I think you should give it a listen! 👂 (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bst8WemnYWd/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1gj0vqgexbwk2

“Healthy”
I wanted to get 2019 started with this question about what "healthy" really means to get you thinking about how improving your health (REALLY improving your health) can change your life in unimaginable ways.
We say we’re going to go to the gym, start exercising, or lose weight to “get healthy”. But what does it REALLY mean to be “healthy” anyway? In today’s world, “healthy” has become a very loosely defined term. Symptoms and chronic states of dis-ease have become so commonplace that we’ve come to label ourselves as “healthy” so long as we’re not down and out with strep throat, a cold or the flu, have not received a warning from our doctor that our cholesterol levels or blood pressure are not normal, or we don’t have some type of medical diagnosis such as cancer or an autoimmune disease. Unfortunately, things have become so bad that even folks who have a diagnosed autoimmune disease of some sort are considered “healthy” as long as they’re just chugging along and not down and out with the bug of the season.
We intuitively know that we’re not actually “healthy” when we’re experiencing symptoms, because we go to our doctors for help. Because, let’s face it, the symptoms suck and they’re impacting your daily life and happiness. If you’re like most people I know, you’ve been to your doctor to seek help for some nagging symptoms that you know aren’t normal. The doctor listened to your complaints during your rushed appointment, and probably interrupted you a few times to hurry your story along. You likely walked out of the office with a prescription in your hand for a new medication or two, likely a long-term medication that you’ll need to take indefinitely because there’s no cure for the ailment that your doctor diagnosed you with during that ten minute rushed appointment. Oh, and these new long-term medications are in addition to the other long-term medications that you were prescribed before during previous visits for different symptoms.
Or perhaps your doctor ran some blood work and maybe even scheduled you for some scans. You’re actually secretly hoping that SOMETHING will show up on those tests to give you SOME explanation as to why you’re experiencing all these symptoms and to confirm that you are not actually crazy. But, the results come back and everything looks normal. You’re “healthy”.
“You’re having respiratory problems and get short of breath during exercise? You must have asthma because all the bloodwork and scans look normal. Here’s a prescription for an emergency inhaler and another for a daily maintenance inhaler.”
“You’re experiencing chronic headaches? All the tests look normal. Here’s a prescription for a medication to reduce the occurrence/severity of your headaches, and another for managing the pain when you get one.”
“Can’t sleep at night? Here’s a prescription for a sleep medication.”
“You’ve been experiencing depression and/or anxiety? Here’s a depression/anxiety medication. It must be taken daily and don’t you dare stop taking it without consulting your doctor first because it’s dangerous to stop taking it all at once. You must be weaned off!”
“You’re exhausted all the time no matter how much sleep you get? You must be depressed. Here’s a prescription for depression medication. See above.”
“Terrible allergies and sinus issues? All the tests look normal. Here’s a prescription for a daily medication intended to suppress your symptoms and another one for a nasal steroid to squirt up your nose a couple times per day. Oh, and you should probably get rid of your dog. And avoid going outdoors during allergy season. Wrapping yourself in a bubble might be a good option as well. There’s no cure for allergies, you’re just one of the unlucky ones.”
“Acne? Here’s a prescription for that. Who knows how long you’ll need to take it. And you should probably buy some of those medicated acne face wash lotions and potions. Oh, and jeez, stop touching your face already!”
“Terrible PMS symptoms, heavy menstrual bleeding? You should definitely be taking hormonal birth control pills to f*** with your body’s natural hormone producing pharmacy. You might even consider an ablation surgery to screw with your hormones even more. Oh, and here’s a prescription to manage the cramps and another to control your anxiety.”
“Heartburn? Here’s a prescription antacid.”
“Digestion issues? Here are some medications for that.”
And on and on and on.
What gives?
If any of this sounds familiar to you, you’re not alone. And you’re not crazy. I suffered from a laundry list of joy-diminishing chronic symptoms for over two decades, the grand finale of which was a two-year autoimmune flare-up that the doctors couldn’t seem to identify which left me agonizing daily about my mortality and wondering what my young boys’ lives would be like after I was gone. There were countless doctor visits, blood draws and scans, all of which said things looked “normal”. Over those 20+ years, I estimate that I was prescribed antibiotics over 60 times in addition to a wide range of other pharmaceuticals. I wish I was exaggerating. By the time I was 30 I was taking five long-term prescription medications in addition to over-the-counter medications such as Advil, which I took to reduce pain and inflammation from my frequent running injuries.
For many years I figured that I was just unlucky and because no doctor seemed to be able to give me any long-term solutions, I came to accept that managing these symptoms was just going to be my way of life. Maybe it was just bad genetics or because my dad smoked in the house when I was a kid (that was likely a contributing factor). And, like most people today, I figured I was “healthy” as long as I wasn’t down and out with the bug of the season, like strep throat, which I got at least once, but usually twice per year for over 20 years. I motored through each day in survival mode doing all the things that moms do. Until things got SO bad that I was facing my own mortality and I decided to take my health into my own hands.
I learned that my “healthy” eating habits were not as healthy as I thought, and adopted an ancestral, or Paleo, approach to eating, which...CHANGED MY LIFE! I learned that the way I was exercising (marathon training) was actually harming my health, so I changed the way I exercised, even though I LOVED running, and at the time believed there was no other exercise that I could love as much. I learned that my thinking patterns, sleep habits, and stress perception/management were all contributing factors to my health (or lack thereof). And I learned that there were HIDDEN causes of dysfunction in my body that all my doctors’ tests had not uncovered. I discovered these hidden causes of stress on my body through functional lab testing, which I now use as an investigative tool to help my own clients figure out the H.I.D.D.E.N. causes of dysfunction in their bodies. Dysfunction with the Hormones, Immune, Digestion, Detoxification, Energy, and Nervous systems.
Healing my body was a journey that required work and a diligent commitment to changing the lifestyle habits (including my thinking habits) that were not contributing to my overall wellbeing.  But it was work that ended up being well worth the effort. Today, at almost 46 years old, my quality of life far surpasses the quality of life from what I experienced in my teens until my late thirties. I wake up each morning full of energy and anticipation of the day ahead. I no longer suffer from any of the symptoms that were at one point a part of my identity. I no longer need to know where the closest box of tissues is. I have not taken a prescription medication of any kind in almost eight years. I am often mistaken by strangers as my young adult sons’ girlfriend or sister; a pretty freaking awesome side effect of being healthy from the inside out!
My friends, taking charge of my health has been the biggest source of empowerment that I have ever experienced and has improved my life in more ways than I can even begin to explain.
So, getting back to my original question, “What is health?”. Today, my definition of health is much different than it was for over two decades when I suffered from all those symptoms. It is far different than what most of us, including doctors, in our modern world have come to define as “health”. My definition of health is having an absence of symptoms and waking up each and every day filled with the energy necessary to tackle whatever challenges life has to throw at us.
So I’m here to to tell you that if you are suffering from chronic symptoms, you’re not healthy, even if the blood work and the scans say you are. Because as I said above, true health means an absence of symptoms. The good news is that you have the power within you to fix that! The suffering is unnecessary, and you are not "unlucky".
The human body has an amazing capacity to heal if only we give it the right conditions. We really are intended to thrive, not just survive. Pushing through each day with pain and suffering is what I call surviving, and we all deserve so much more so that we can ENJOY LIFE each and every day and be there fully for all the things that matter. Like our families.
If you are ready to take charge of your health and stop the cycle of trial and error, I can help you do that. My experience with suffering from chronic health issues for years and healing my body when the professionals couldn’t help lit a fire in me to help others who are suffering. I know what it’s like to feel like you can’t be there fully for your family, struggling through each and every day, and wondering if you’ll be able to care for your children. Because I’ve been there. I suffered, and I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to. There is life on the other side of chronic illness. A f***ing good one. So, if you’re ready...really ready to get to the other side...contact me here to schedule your FREE 45-minute consultation session to learn about my health coaching programs and to find out how my work is different than anything you’ve experienced until now.
And one more thing, if you have a friend or a loved one who is struggling with chronic health issues, please share this link with them!

Don’t get too excited 😆(or panicked 😱)! It’s not what you think. 🤣 During the last 14 months, my cycles have been irregular and unpredictable for the first time in my life after experiencing two major traumatic life events during a four month period, followed by mold poisoning. While I feel like I handled the mental/emotional aspect of these #traumas quite well thanks to my daily #meditation and #mindfulness practice, and the immense love and support I have received from my family, friends, and community, my body is telling me that the #stress of these events have had an impact on my #hormones! ~ I am using this #ovulation test kit to determine the best day to complete my #DUTCH hormone test so that I can investigate what is happening with my hormones and come up with a plan of action to bring them back into balance as I do with my own clients. ~ I am too young to be going into #menopause, and would like to keep my sex hormones strong and balanced AT LEAST into my mid-fifties. Early menopause is associated with many negative health risks and unpleasant symptoms, including: 👉🏼 increased risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes & stroke (☠️) 👉🏼 Mood issues (😠😭😤) 👉🏼 Impaired cognitive function/brain fog (🤯) 👉🏼 Increased risk of #osteoporosis (☠️) 👉🏼 Decreased #libido (🙅🏻‍♀️🤬) 👉🏼 Hot flashes (😰) 👉🏼 Night sweats (😰) 👉🏼 Vaginal dryness (🙅🏻‍♀️🤬) ~ I love having access to functional lab testing that helps to uncover the underlying causes of dysfunction in the body! ~ #functionallabtesting #dutchtest #earlymenopause #brainfog #hotflashes #nightsweats #adrenalhealth #healyourbody #mindsetboss #FDN #fatigue #chronicfatigue #momboss #mindsetboss #glutenfree #guthealth #paleo #aip #primal #grainfree #happyhormones #hormonebalance #menstrualcycle #healyourbody #functionalmedicine #functionalmedicinecoach (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsbwv8onmLV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1smlmn1z5cph9

Don’t get too excited 😆(or panicked 😱)! It’s not what you think. 🤣 • During the last 14 months, my cycles have been irregular and unpredictable for the first time in my life after experiencing two major traumatic life events during a four month period, followed by mold poisoning. While I feel like I handled the mental/emotional aspect of these #traumas quite well thanks to my daily #meditation and #mindfulness practice, and the immense love and support I have received from my family, friends, and community, my body is telling me that the #stress of these events have had an impact on my #hormones! • I am using this #ovulation test kit to determine the best day to complete my #DUTCH hormone test so that I can investigate what is happening with my hormones and come up with a plan of action to bring them back into balance as I do with my own clients. • I am too young to be going into #menopause, and would like to keep my sex hormones strong and balanced AT LEAST into my mid-fifties. In just a couple short hours, these ingredients will have been magically transformed by my Instant Pot into nourishing, gut supporting bone broth containing collagen, gelatin, amino acids and trace minerals. • I don’t always make my own. Sometimes I’m just plain lazy or don’t take the time and buy it. There are plenty of good options available on the market right now. But, I prefer to make it myself because. A) it’s less expensive. B) When I make my own foods at home I just feel like I’m winning at life. And who doesn’t want to feel like they’re winning at life? • #bonebroth #collagen #instantpot #eatlikeourancestors #healthylife #healthcoach #guthealth #fdn (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsWRJj3navd/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=19gl87ebzlhn

I’ve been missing my Silly Dilly Carrots from @micro_mamas since those products aren’t available in San Diego, so I was excited to find these #lactofermented carrots from @fireflykitchensseattle at Whole Foods yesterday. This one has ginger instead of dill, but delicious just the same. Have you had your #gut supporting #probiotic #fermentedfoods today? https://www.instagram.com/p/BsTnqfPnOjG/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=hde0bjdj6mb0

I just love what’s going on in my freezer when my monthly @butcher_box arrives! It makes planning for healthy meals with pasture raised meat so much easier and frees up my time and brain energy to focus on other things! • #pastureraised #grassfed #healthyliving #cleanfood #moneywellspent #paleo #primal (at San Diego, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsO0EdUnZ6L/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=tz5gs13ge4rj
