Another amazing addition to our Don't Yelp Me Bro! series, drawn by a patron who perhaps went a little Beer Crazy.
Next time you're here, you can leave some artwork or feedback of your own. Just flip to the back of the menu and we can provide the pen.

They painted a mural on the wall surrounding the abandoned lot at Washington & St. John's, adding some art to the neighborhood and beauty to the community. We look forward to the space being revitalized and turned into a thriving business, but until then, thank you to the artists who created this. #brooklyn #art #mural #streetart #prospectheights #washingtonave #community #neighbors #nyc

We have the most talented patrons a bar could ever want. This sketch by Jesse Xavier Ruiz of the Tooker Alley Ragtime Jam Band is exquisite.
You can see more of Jesse's artwork here.

Outside it may be a Monday, but inside the bar it's a Friday night. The band is rollicking, the whisky is flowing, and the patrons are feeling fine. Not a table is empty or barstool vacant. Our favorites, 5000 Jazz Assassins, are performing two sets of their old-fashioned ragtime jazz. But don't worry if you couldn't stop in tonight, because we're making this a recurring event...As if you needed a good excuse to get out of the house on Monday... #brooklyn #livemusic #mondaynights #jazz #ragtime #fun #whisky #merriment #fullhouse (at Tooker Alley)

A Carnival of Beer and Whiskey Pairings
TONIGHT at Tooker Alley, we kick off our (long awaited) shot and beer menu...we will feature 4 pairings of American Whiskeys with 4 domestic craft beers, finally giving the great American drinking rite of the shot-and-a-beer its due...all pairings will be specially discounted for the duration of the event, 7-10 PM (RSVP on the Facebook event page, or just stop in)...
But there's more!...the one and only Joanna Carpenter will be here filming everything for her Web Series Braving the Brew...if you don't already know, Joanna is in her second season of obsessive beer love, something of which we heartily approve...she brings both deep knowledge and pure joy to her series and we are just plain honored that she's gonna be here...
But wait!...there's even more!...Our good buddies John and Doug from down the street at Bitter and Esters will be on hand too...they are brewing some bespoke home brew just for the event and will be here to interface with you about the fine art of home brewing...these guys are the last word in home brewing so if for no other reason you need to be here just to meet them...they are truly excellent dudes and we are stoked that they're joining us for this...
What more could you ask for?...well, you didn't ask, but we are giving you even more...our good buddy and "art attacker" Alex Harvey is bringing his band of merry music makers to provide a live soundtrack to the scene...
This will be a real Tooker Alley sideshow, folks, and you'd be cavalier to miss it!...Cancel all other plans, quit your job, lie to your significant other - whatever it takes...just be here next Monday as we elevate your mind to a lower level of drinking!

Slate.com's Vault blog found an amazing collection of cards that during the Prohibition Era would get a New Yorker past the bouncer of  a speakeasy.

Looking for Tooker Alley
Our dear friend and committed Tooker Alley regular Lynne Jackson was recently in Chicago and went on a mission to locate present-day Tooker Alley -- and she found it! She was kind enough to send us this beautiful picture:
Tumblr media
Although the old Dil Pickle Club building is long gone, Lynne surmises from some of the remaining building numbers that it was most likely the last building on the right-hand side of the the alley. One can almost imagine the denizens of early 20th century Chicago climbing over the garbage cans "down Tooker Alley to the Green Lite over the Orange Door" to get to the famed "counter-institution" from which our bar takes its inspiration. Thank you again to Lynne for making the effort to find Tooker Alley and providing us with such an awesome and evocative picture...we will cherish it always...

Drink Profile: The Hobo Julep
"Hallelujah, I'm a bum!"
Strong, minty and déclassé, the Hobo Julep is the preferred tipple of the Southern Central boxcar proletariat.
New York Magazine's GrubStreet blog included the Hobo Julep on its list of the city's Booziest Cocktails and said this:
Hobos are few and far between in Prospect Heights but everyone gets a chance to jump on the train at Tooker Alley, the new spot from Del Pedro, formerly of Pegu Club. His Hobo Julep trades in the Kentucky Derby hat for a straw one, combining Wild Turkey 101 bourbon with little more than some cane syrup, mint bitters, ice, and a splash of club soda. It is, in his words, "an ass-kicker."

Today's Don't Yelp Me Bro comes courtesy Alex H, and is some sort of flying bat/spider hybrid. With maybe a cat head?
