A Lustful Lie

Undyne and Alphys meet each other for the first time.

Fandom: Undertale Characters/Pairing: Alphys/Undyne Rating: G Mirror Links: AO3 Notes: Written for @true-reset-server​‘s Waterfall event! Each new scene is a random prompt I was given by a wordwar bot and usually written in about an hour or so over a week.

“Y-you like anime too?”

The word fell out of her fangs in a heated breath. “Yes,” she lied, wondering what ‘anime’ was. Normally, Undyne wasn’t one to lie, but… the way this girl squirmed, the way her glasses steamed up. Something about it made Undyne’s heart race.

The nerdy lizard girl looked up at Undyne, her eyes twinkling with energy. “Really? What’s your favorite anime?!” Strangely enough, this girl lost her stutter.

Undyne scratched the back of her head, a confused grin across her face. The dump was damp and generally a little stinky. Rotting boxes and rusty bikes littered across the ground in little pools of water, glimmering like piles of gross treasure. She had no idea what anime was or what to say, but she was stuck in this lie, and damn it, she was going to see this thing through!

Something pink and girly caught her attention in the corner of her eye. She had no better ideas! Go with it, full force!!

“My favorite anime, huh….” Undyne mumbled. “Mew Mew Kissy Cutie, of course!” She screamed at the top of her lungs, having just read the title. The louder you screamed it, the truer it was!!

Water You Waiting For?

Water You Waiting For? is an event running through May 31 for Undertale fans and fan creators.  To participate, simply create a fanwork that meets any one of the following criteria:

1. Heavily features a character we meet in the Waterfall area.  (This includes major characters, like Undyne,  but also enemies like Aaron, Temmie, and Shyren, shopkeepers like Temmie and Gerson, and minor NPCs like the Bird That Carries You Over A Disproportionately Small Gap, Temmie, Elder Puzzler, Temmie, Echo Flower Explainer, Temmie, Onionsan, Temmie, Bob, and Temmie.)  For the purposes of this event, Monster Kid and Napstablook also fall into this category even though they are technically introduced earlier.

2. Is mostly set somewhere in Waterfall.  (Temmie Village, the Garbage Dump, Undyne’s rock, etc.)

3. Is set in a watery environment (lake, river, ocean, etc.), or is a work wherein water plays an important part thematically or plotwise.

4. Has a spring-y theme.  (E.g., the monsters’ first spring on the Surface, something heavily involving flowers, your OTP gets caught in a spring rainstorm, April Fools’ Day, etc.)

Acceptable fanworks include art and fanfiction, but can also include crafts, poetry, music, or any other creative thing you might make.  Lists of recommendations of fanworks that suit the theme are also acceptable, although we ask that recs lists have at least 5 items on them.

NSFW creations are welcome!  They will not be reblogged directly if anything NSFW is in the post itself, but will be linked to in a links roundup with a textual description/summary.  (We will be treating gore in the same manner.)

Cruelty

Everything is temporary. Nothing lasts. And that’s okay.

Fandom: Undertale Characters: Scarf Mouse, Nacarat Jester Rating: G Mirror Links: AO3 Notes: Made for @true-reset-server‘s Snowed In event. Way past the deadline yep.

They first found each other by the hillside, where the impenetrable door stood within the stone.

The mouse was a watcher, passive in his activity, barely moving himself from the snowbanks. He watched as the younger monsters, in their own clueless ways, tortured the gyftrot. They would tangle streamers around its horns, hang bright spheres where there was space, and throw glitter at its snout. Though Snowdin was large and full of so many people, it was also quite boring. What other way was there to pass the time except in playing cruel jokes against the other? The mouse felt that this was what the Underground was made of; cruel jokes and infinite time to do them, only because there was nothing else to be done.

The gyftrot was then left alone, burdened with festive baubles and the like. A walking eyesore. The mouse made no move to help it. He knew this did not help but, again, what else was there to do?

“Cheer up. It’s only temporary.”

The mouse heard footsteps before, light against the snow. Their voice was clear despite the mask. Yes, it was a mask, forever upturned in a smile, and eyes that were pinned like the most basic understandings of a star.

Hello! I have a question about your Water You Waiting For Contest. Can the fanwork be a continuation of something you already have an existing fic for?

If it’s a sequel/prequel/coda/additional scene of a fic or series of fics that you’ve already written in, or if it’s art/music/whatever based on existing fic, yes, go ahead!

If it’s just a new chapter of a chaptered fic, no, sorry.

(Also, just to be clear, there’s no contest or prizes or anything, it’s just a little event encouraging people to do Waterfall-y stuff.)

HOME OF PAPYRUS!

A fuzzy claw scribbled hastily over the large and intrusive font. The bear let out a heavy sigh, shaking his head sadly. “That is not politics.” There was a crunching of snow nearby, leading to another bear dressed like a bright holiday present.

“Why not?” the cheery bear asked, a bundle of wrapping paper crinkling in his pockets.

The other bear shook his head again, this time with extra judgement. “You wouldn’t understand! There should have been a petition to see if the town would approve first!”

The gift bear looked over the little town with a slow blinking stare. A cute bunny happily chattered away while walking through town, her little brother Cinnamon hopping gleefully into the thick soft poffs of snow that littered the roads. The small white bunny practically vanished in the snow, but luckily his sister kept a leash on him at all times. Smart thinking! Another taller rabbit man stood nearby, watching in what appeared to be horror for some reason?

“I don’t think anyone would really mind,” the gift bear said after a short while.

Politically-minded bear shook his head for a third time, letting out a deeply exasperated sigh. “It’s the principle of the thing!” He tried scrubbing the ink off with a wet blanket that was covered in little bunny patterns. “Imagine if we just let those teenagers run loose around town and do whatever they wanted!”

Gift bear blinked, a light layer of snow growing over his back and melting into his fur. He didn’t notice. “Don’t they already? Besides, isn’t it thanks to those teenagers that we have such a nice holiday?”

“That’s…” He seemed to be at a loss for words for once. He couldn’t find the strength to shake his head a fourth time. “That’s not the point! We have a system!”

A snow poff formed on the gift bear’s head, appearing as a rather stylish hat. “Isn’t the system to talk to that tall skeleton, who talks to a fish?”

“Exactly!” He nodded, with just a hint of smugness. “And I don’t believe the fish or the king was informed in this decision! It’s not politics!”

Anyway, Eventually They All Just Settled on Snowdin

The people over at @true-reset-server are having a winter-themed Undertale event, and I decided to participate! Anyway, here is my drabble about Asgore, some monsters, and the place that-is-not-yet-called Snowdin.

Rating: G Length: 100 words

The monsters were exploring their new home, their leader Asgore leading the way.

“Look!” one of them exclaimed. “There’s snow around here for miles!”

Asgore squinted off into the distance. “Very curious indeed. It seems a wintry climate is a condition of this place.”

A young monster clapped her hands in delight.  “Oh, it’s wonderful! I can make snowmen with my friends!”

“And what shall we call this new land of snow?” asked another monster.

“Hmmm.” Asgore rubbed his chin in thought.

The other monsters waited patiently, for about fifteen minutes. Then they got bored. “Well?”

“I’m still thinking, okay?!”

Can I use an AU? Like say Axetale...?

Absolutely!  AUs are fine.  (Even AUs where Snowdin doesn’t exist, or isn’t snowy, as long as the fanwork meets one of the guidelines.)

Since you mention Axetale, though, do bear in mind that if your fan creation has significant gore it will probably be considered NSFW and we’ll link to it with a summary rather than reblogging it directly.
