A line in the Ithaca Saga which hit me particularly hard was in I can't Help but Wonder, when Odysseus says "If that world it exists, it's far away from here. It's one I'll have to miss, for it's far beyond my years."

This man, who has refused to die for 20 years of non-stop challenges. Who has sacrificed friends, morals and his own humanity to get home. This man has found peace. He's accepting his own mortality, because he has reached his goal. He has no reason to fight anymore. He and Athena doesn't share the same goal anymore, he doesn't want to be a warrior anymore. He's just going to enjoy however many years he has left with his family. And when his time comes, he won't have to sacrifice 43 friends to stay alive, because he'll be able to accept dying, as long it's in Penelope's arms.
