If they made a RWBY game, but RWBY/JNPR are not the main character(s)
Cinder Fall: She's an uWu villain, which can also be said Wild Card. She starts off at the Fall of Beacon, and then Battle of Haven in the intro. Afterwards, she gets to start making moral decisions. The choices are Order - meaning Ironwood, Chaos - meaning Salem, and Freedom, which she doesn't realize means Ozpin until she starts working for him. Mass Effect would probably be the best paradigm, or maybe Rogue Trader, (less sexy, but more statistics).
Ilia Amitola: Ideally this would be a romance where Jaune gives her the first affection she has ever had an she learns the error of her ways. In all honesty, it would probably be an assassin game. We can have the best of both worlds, where she defects from the White Fang, but still has plenty of evil people controlling the world. Jaune shows up occationally, trying to stop her and talk her out of it. Dating catwoman.
James Ironwood: Strategy game, maybe RTS or turn-based. You have to build the Atlasian military, develop the technology, establish bases and logistics. The final level has the Siege of (ever) Night (castle). You don't have to beat Salem, as the teen heroes, do, but you have to build bases to protect them while they enter the castle itself.
Ozpin: Basically like Idolmaster + Uma Musume, but with Huntsmen. He runs the Valean Hunstman Academy. You can bring previous students as instructors. This would allow and justify them to add every fairytale character they could ever want. At the end of the day, you can make a play for Evernight Castle. If they fail, yeah, you know what probably happens. Time to start with the next generation.
Qrow Branwen: The Wizard of Oz, but from the perspective of the Scareqrow. The secret reveal is that he has brains, and his problem is over thinking the end of the world. He supports Ruby and Zwei saving the day.
Reginald "Robin" Hereford: Created for Firen Lhain to represent the main Paladin troop. Preferably, it would a turn-based mech tactical game, (Front Mission 3/4 Era), with Death Stranding 2's game engine.
Roman Torchwick: Mafia story. Given the colourful nature of the world, I'm going to say like Saint's Row III.
Sun Wukong: A RWBY version of Journey to the West.
Whitley Schnee: His father gets sent to prison. Jacques puts in it a trust, with Whitley as his Trustee. This would allow you to make moral decisions, but the board will be on your ass if they think you won't make money, and if you go a couple of quarters with a loss, they will start trying to unseat you.
Winter Schnee: Basically a magical super soldier story.

Addendum:
Yoshi is the hero version of Koopa-Troopa.
Any unnamed one also includes it's female versions.

Simple rules:
No one wants to be Shinji Ikari.
No one should want to be Scott Pilgrim.
Must be badass, at least by the standards of the setting.
Extra points if starting as a humble everydude, at least in some way.

I'd like to thank everyone who tried to break the deadlock.
Crusaders
Pony: Earth
Class Type: Heavy
Weight Class: Dreadnought
Armour: Heavy
Weapons: Greatshields
Those knighted by Twilight, Princess of Magic. They use their great strength, heavy armour, and greatshields to act as living bulwarks for Equestria. One of the newest and the most down to earth of the Equites.
Engineer
Pony: Earth
Class Type: Light; Mage (Earth)
Weight Class: Heavy
Armour: Medium
Weapons: Spades
Thee earth movers of Equestria's armies.
Militiapony
Pony: Earth
Class Type: Heavy
Weight Class: Medium
Armour: Medium
Weapons: (none)
Earth Ponies are the least beligerent of the main Pony races, and as such rely primarily upon a Militia that is summoned in dire need. As such they don't have the equipment or combat experience of Knights. Instead they rely on minimal equipment, and the fantastic strength that can only be achieved from Earth Ponies doing the day-to-day heavy work that Earth Ponies are best at.
Woodspony
Pony: Earth
Class Type: Light; Trainer (birds and beasts)
Weight Class: Medium
Armour: Medium
Weapons: Whips; Axes
Woodsponies are Ponies who spend the better part of their lives away from Pony civilizations. They have an affinity for animals, and all things of the forest, and an earned reputation for a dislike of herd life.
Paladin
Pony: Crystal
Class Type: Heavy; Mage (holy)
Weight Class: Heavy / Super Heavy
Armour: Heavy
Weapons: Lances
Those Knighted by Princess Cadance, the Knights of the Crystal Palace, (Knights-Palatine of the North)
The Crystal Ponies have long used love and glad tiddings to repel the darkness, and the Knights of the Crystal Palace, (Knights-Palantine of the North), have learned to do this as well.
MLP:FiM MMORPG
My idea for an MLP RPG had each race gain 1 stat for their race, i.e. every level they gain the same stat. They also gain 1 stat up to the choice of the player.
Stats:
STRength: Vitality and Wound Points, Physical Damage and Resistance, Earth Affinity, and Ruck, (strength bonus for collective action).
AGiLity: Attack and Defence (accuracy), Critical Strike, Mobility, Storm Affinity.
INTelligence: Mana Points, Arcane Affinity, Telekinesis, (damage stat for weapons using wielded through telekinesis).
SPiriT: Constitution (physical ailment resistance), Healing, Herd, (Morale bonus added when moving collective; much stronger in ponies), Ice Affinity, VP, WP, and MP regen.
WILlpower: Mental Resistance, Firearm Damage, Fire Affinity, and Sternness, (damage resistance bypass).
There are rare races, but they are harder to unlock, and limited in number.

BSSM: The ICONIC magical girl show, though not the first by any stretch of the imagination. Short skirts, technocolour transformations, mid-battle speeches about truth and love. And manages to have a main love interest that is more powerful than the heroine or villainess. Because girls have to look up to you.
CCS: Heartwarming series with very real dangers. Doesn't use her own power to attack, but uses her power to use the power of the eponymous cards.
Cutey Honey: We have an open slot or a shounen. Uh, we have a shoujo ready to go? Could we use that? Alright, just throw in some nudity.
Spec-Ops Asuka: War is hell, and you don't get a free ride just because you are a magical girl.
Rayearth: Magical girl combined with fantasy combined with mechas.
NGE: Let's face it, if you replaced the leading twink with a girl, it would basically be a magical girl show. A horrifying one, yes. All of the villains from high school bullies to his own father are men.
Pretty Cure: Never watched it, but it's going stronger than Gundam. Magical girls, the importance of friendship, fairies that need you help.
Madoka: Probably the most horrifying series, not just because it's inherently horrifying for the girls, but because the objective is to stave off the heat death of the universe a googol, (10^100) years in the future. (see suffix)
MLP:FiM: Rainbow Coloured girls use the power of friendship to power a rainbow-coloured wave motion gun to defeat the incarnation of evil. The world is beautiful and horrifying. Unicorns could use M1911, which would rather change the dynamic.
Tanya the Evil: You could look at it in two ways, what effect a magical girl could have on a regular battlefield, or look at it as the story of an amoral magnificent bastard sent off to fight a war.
Strike Witches: The first series is the most accurate depictions of WWII fighter planes, in any medium. Of course, all of the planes are replaced by magical girls, and the entire world evolved to not have women wear pants, (or skirts, or dresses, or robes, or anything below the waist other than panties and socks).
Magical girls powered by the magic of hard science, namely relativity and quantum uncertainty.

The magical girl is down, the villainess is going to win.
