It's important to recognize that proshippers can be predators. An adult sending art of an age gap ship to a minor in order to groom them into a relationship is not unheard of. It is a very real grooming tactic online. Of course, enjoying darkships doesn't instantly mean someone is a predator- but implying that darkship art can't ever be used as a grooming tactic isn't helpful. Predators are in every online space, and it's important to recognize and watch out for the signs. Proshippers are not predators, but some predators are proship.

Half of the issues surrounding how people treat abuse victims in shipcourse would be solved if everyone respected everyone's way of coping. And I mean EVERYONE.

You use fetish art to cope? That's cool, you can keep it in your own private area (safest option if you're drawing it for yourself), post it on a private blog, or even just post it on a normal site (making sure you add tags for filtering purposes).

Fetish art is triggering to you? That's also cool. Utilise filtering systems whenever available to you. Block people who make content you know you'll find triggering. You are always free to criticise those triggering you on purpose.

No "if you cope like this you're weird" or "if you don't cope like this you're a fanpol".

Both antis and proshippers lack nuance and are very extreme with their arguments, both have very flawed logic. Both sides just refuse to acknowledge it

"Fiction has ZERO affect on reality or on you, or others or your reflection as a person!" Which is not entirely true, it can affect all of those things

"If you like any media that has dark topics in it that mean those are your morals irl and ALWAYS a reflection on who you are!!" Which again not entirely true

Both sides refuse to acknowledge the nuances in types of media/fiction, both could lead to a horrible and unhealthy relationship with media consumption
