Seriously the fandom have really went so far away that they are involving real life politics and social discrimination in fictional series.
I am seeing fans are making prejudicial factions which are bulling and accusing each other. Some calling stereotypes racist, sexist and so forth. Others really promoting those types. Why can't all keep quiet and enjoy in creative conversation on character development and worldbuilding.

Worst writers ever been
Hi,what do you think of the triology, ruins of the empire? I did not like that asami forgave / accepted kuvira, she was the cause of the death of her father and opal does not have to accept her either, kuvira wanted to kill her entire family.
Terrible. Ridiculous.
Ruins of the Empire was solely written by Mike, so now we’ve seen what ideas Bryke has on their own and how they go about it. This is it. Yet people still think Bryke wrote ATLA like ??
Asami didn’t actually forgive Kuvira, but more like she was glad that she was on their side instead of against. I think that one’s still fine at least....
BUT
Kuvira was a redeemable character because of her ideology and she at least was doing it for peace, BUT she was redeemed too easily and too quickly. She was practically demanding her victims to forgive her, and then Bryke decided to give her a little petty woobifying childhood story that was literally her just being spoiled, as if that was an explanation of her being ruthless and killing anyone in her way. They even made a young Opal so OOC by calling Kuvira a ‘stray dog’ just for readers to pity Kuvira like srsly wtf? Bruh what kind of parent is Suyin?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again— Bryke aren’t writers, so people should stop thinking that the whole avatar world revolves around them and any material that comes out of them should be considered canon. Ruins of the Empire is literal proof of what their writing actually is. It’s not good.

So Heartwarming 😍😍😍
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Short comic based on this wonderful prompt by @marauders4evr : “Someone needs to make a beautiful comic where Aang’s struggling because Tenzin just became an airbending master but Aang has absolutely no idea how to actually tattoo the arrows because he was only twelve when his entire culture was wiped out, he had only just gotten his tattoos months before he ran away, he would have been far too young to learn the tradition from the side of the tattoo-giver and then said tradition was wiped out forever, so he’s crying as he tries his best, and then Yangchen appears and the Air Nomad Avatar before Yangchen appears and so on and so on, all the way back to the Avatar that came right after Wan, hundreds of Airbenders just sitting with Aang, patiently going over the techniques, cheering when Tenzin stands, bowing to the newest airbender, making sure the culture isn’t lost…”

I go with her line Xd
Bryke isn’t involved in the live action netflix ATLA anymore. Hmm. I wonder how that will go. Considering how the comics went, I didn’t have much expectations for the live action. But now, they’ve left because of creative differences basically. Since it’s a live action Netflix, I’d expect the live action to be far more realistic than the original (ie no more woobifying Zuko pls or worshipping Iroh or the whole crap about bloodlines deciding ur decision or that everyone deserves a chance of redemption etc) lmao oh well. I’m still gonna watch it either way just to see how it goes 😂

2020 The Year Of Disappointments: Avatar Live Action Edition
Welp guess the Live Action is off of my to watch list. Apparently Bryke left over creative differences: which is author and artist code for the studio is trying to meddle with the plot and story line.
The studio should leave the writing to the writers. Bryke created a franchise that lasted 10+ and is still relevant. They should be trusted to do a good job again. Literally any time a studio tampers with the writing process of a show or movie, the result is disastrous, bland, and messy. Look what happened to Voltron.
I was already skeptical about the LA because of that movie. I don’t plan on watching the adaption now because it’s gonna be a whole mess. Netflix and the studio made a big mistake in pushing Bryke out. Avatar is their show and their concept. They should be writing the live action.

One of the only Japanese anime I appreciated the most. It has purpose, life lessons to learn. Not just flashy moves and overbearing levels of unrealistic powers and gross fights and violence without any ethical reasons.

Azula deserves a good and peaceful life. She was an abuse child victim not a crazy villain. She needs healing and care, I hope the creators, writers and the whole team of ATLA understands this somehow, as fans we have right to demand the presentations to be our liking.
Azula still deserves her redemption arc.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I think azula in real life would be Queen Seondeok of Silla (one of the ancient kingdoms of Korea)
Tumblr media
if azula existed in real life she would be a karen
Oh no no no no no don’t do Azula like that bruhhhh she ain’t discriminating yoooo nor does she even complain or is dramatic lmao although I could imagine her using the ‘speak to the manager’ card if she gets pissed.
But if we’re being real here, season 1 Zuko was literally Karen 😂

Honestly people really waste their time in this petty non-sense of political correctness. I mean are you fighting an election or advocating activism in Water Tribes or Fire Nation?? Why are you bringing American Political and Humanitarian issues in a Fiction set up on East Asian Traditions and Culture? Where this Native-White discrimination narrative came from? Seriously guys are you so sick that all you look everywhere is racism, sexism and all isms and phobias according to liberal thought.
Hama is not a native of Fire Nation she's a Water Tribe don't 'Americanize' avatarverse, second what she did wasn't bad but pure evil. Her victims were of every age and maybe even children. She has not right to torture innocent people to please her sadism of excuse the she's been through so much. Those who advocate her redemption or cry that of her she wasn't wrong. Let me throw some light on her actions which the Fandom has ignored.
First at the time of her imprisonment. When she learned the art of bloodbending. She wasn't the only one in that prison. Her compatriots, her fellow Tribesmen and waterbenders was also incarcerated in that prison complex with her. When she escaped, what we saw in the Show?? She escaped alone... She didn't even bothered to rescue her fellow tribesmen and women out of that den with her. She left them to rot and die...
Second not only she was selfish (not rescuing her people). She didn't even had any kind of compassion for her own people's suffering in that prison!! For Gods sake. She even was a narcissist, only cared about her tribulations and of others didn't even care.
Third if she had a power to escape from that heavily guarded prison complex especially built for waterbenders. She could have escaped from the Nation by herself and either made way to her homeland but she choose to stay there and torture civilians out of her pleasure. There were many ways she could have got her revenge in righteous ways like joining the expedition lead by Hakoda the Chief of Southern Tribe. She would have been an asset for her nation but hell no, what she did?? She stayed on the land of people which she cursed and experimented her new power technique to satisfy her dark desires.
For those well wishers of Hama and crying for her redemption or writers didn't do a justice her character. Ponder on this points and think about what she really is.

We welcome you in our fanbase and assure you not to be bullied again..
I used to get bullied a lot in this fandom so when avatar came to Netflix I was worried the fandom resurgence would mean I get bullied again I had flashbacks about my bullying I tried venting to other blogs and they told me to get over my bullying because there’s worse things to worry about. Because my worries were dismissed I relapsed and ended up hospitalized. Nobody cared that I was bullied and I was afraid it would happen again. You guys the zucest shippers get it your blog is my safe space
Damn, that’s pretty heavy, I’m sorry you had to go through that.
Honestly, there isn’t much good I can see about the ‘netflix resurgence’, all the ‘new fans’ I met had garbage take like the show being racist and Zuko’s redemption being imperialism apologism or whatever dumb shit buzzword they could string together
Though some old fake fans also went along with this stuff.
I’m really happy to hear you like my blog ^^
Thanks for the ask ^^

Huh😑 I am seeing how the developers are so biased and judgmental on a fictional character. This shows they have a shallow understanding in the life of human beings. Fantasies are artificial creations from human mind but the still the basic, the core beliefs, facts and happenings are taken from the real life. Some of the nature, morals and ethics of the real world always have a presence in fantasy fictions. One of the main figures of in the fictions are about humans and their behaviours, their progressing life. Love, hate, violence, restrain, tranquillity all of these emotions are present even in fictions. What I am trying to elaborate is lives of the characters have a reflection on the real world and vice verse. No human is perfect either in fiction or in real world. Everyone deserves second chances if they truly repent of their transgressions, the writers and developers forget that they have created a lives in pages when they write fictions or draw manga and screen it like animation and like Gods are merciful, compassionate, promoters of virtue as they have created us in the real world. They must also be act like same; give characters a chance to become good and virtuous. By telling ' No redemption for Azula or any other antagonist (who is remorsing)' you are showing your narrow-mindness, bias and how much dogmatic you can be.
I request to all to treat your fictional characters as your children and as you are Gods to them because their fates rests on your creativity. Some children can turn bad as your wishes and some not but one thing doesn't changes in your world and real world that is justice.. Like Gods and mother nature never does injustice to their creations, don't do it to yours. It's wrong and painful...
Hey so I've read all these comments (at this point I have no idea which anon is which lol), I'm sorry that you had to deal with the anions remark. Look... Azula's VA has made it official that Azula is abusive. She's not a stereotypical abuser but she is abusive. The question though is that does that mean that we need to ask ourselves is if this means that Azula cant be redeemed or if there are situations where abusive people can change. I dont think there is much more to say about this.
If we take every member of the production team’s word to be canon, then the answer to your question is no, Azula probably cannot be redeemed and does not deserve redemption because the people who do have a say in this say no.
Bryke is completely silent about Azula and rarely ever talks about her, but the fact that they gave Kuvira a redemption arc earlier than Azula (despite ATLA ending more than 10 years ago while LoK ended in 2014, and it only took 4 years for Kuvira to get her redemption), gave Suki, Mai and Ty Lee their own mini comics and had nothing for Azula, should give you an idea of what their place is on Azula’s fate.
Gene Yang was the writer of the first few comics, but the main points of the plot were still done by Bryke so everything that has happened so far has all been accepted by the creators. And Gene Yang has implied that Azula does not deserve to have a happy closure, and has described azula fans who want Azula to have a redemption arc to be a cult. Her portrayal in the comics and how she’s treated by everyone doesn’t really help either.
Faith Hick’s (new writer of the comics) stand on Azula as far as I know is that a certain Azula fanmail demanding to write the character in a certain way scared her from writing her in the future so despite Azula being one of her favorite characters so I think it’s safe to assume that there’s no plans to give Azula a redemption arc despite the years having been so long.
Giancarlo Volpe (directed 19 eps) has said that Azula might have been redeemable if she wasn’t so manipulative so he’s definitely a no lmao
However, Aaron Ehasz (basically Azula’s creator) has said that he’s always intended Azula to have a redemption arc. Basically only Aaron and Grey DeLisle have expressed their wantingness for Azula to have a redemption arc or at least closure, but Grey is so far the only one who has referred to Azula as abusive.
If everyone in the team does agree that Azula is abusive and they don’t give her a redemption arc because of that, that’s perfectly understandable. I’d rather they actually do that. No one can help Azula in the series right now, not with her mental instability and certainly not with helping with her supposed abusive behavior. If they especially decide to get the Gaang’s help to erase her supposed abusive nature or Zuko or even Mai and Ty Lee, then lmao no thnks. I’m out. I won’t entertain that nonsense.
