Mullings and musings of a strange mind

Strange in the sense of sometimes stir crazy. I'm a sarcastic and pessimistic geeky nerd with no real hope for good things in life. You can always hit me up with something by putting it in my ask or DM. I'm not as anti-social on the internet as I may seem in real life.

Criminal Intent season 10 episode 4: The Last Street in Manhattan
Or as I like to call it: A Goren/Eames shippers dream. (Sorry, it's going to be a little longer... there's parallels in this episode! Love me a good parallel in storytelling.)
Favorite moments include:
Them riffing on Proust Eames: I tried Proust in college. I gave up after the first million pages. Goren: It picks up after the second million pages.
Tumblr media
Bobby being confused by the dating service woman making a pass and Alex staking a claim Eames: Sorry. He can't afford your meat market.
Tumblr media
And Alex fondly telling Bobby about her childhood memories of Inwood. Eames: And Danny Quinlan dumped me right there in front of Moran's. Goren: Not for being ordinary. Eames: For kissing Nick Farrell at recess. Goren: Ooh, lucky Nicky.
Tumblr media
But my absolute favorite moment is the whole scene with Johnny Eames. Not just because of the end. (Why are you looking at your wife partner that way, Bobby? Why so nervous?)
Tumblr media
Also I love this because of the parallel in this episode.
Earlier, the dad of Vanessa said: What's the chances of a girl telling her dad anything about a guy she's seeing until he slips a ring on her finger?
And then Dr. Gyson talking about Bobby putting rules on intimate relationships and how everyone lies and how he can't trust anyone. (And from the follow up in the next episode, we learn he trusts Eames.)
So, to directly follow up the therapy scene with Eames bringing "a guy" home to her dad. What are we supposed to think? This whole thing could've been a phone call. But her dad likes him at least.

Favorite moments from 10x03...
Tumblr media
Here we see Detective Alex Eames fragging noobs. Or maybe she's just doing her job. Who can say. I don't know why, but I have the nagging suspicion she's a gamer. Though I'm not sure if she'd be more into the cozy games or the multiplayer shooters like CoD/Battlefield/Counter Strike. But for sure she has a killer rig at home. And knows all the good Linux distros.
Tumblr media
Goren: Love this place.
He says, while they're standing in a lingerie store. Yes, he meant because they got information. But I see someone having naughty thoughts. Not naming names. *cough* Eames *cough*
Tumblr media
And now for some typical Bobby shenanigans.
I just love when he starts messing with peoples stuff because he found something interesting. And Eames just stepping closer cause she knows what he's doing and has found something and she might need to whip out the cuffs pretty soon.

Just two of my favorite moments of season 10 episode 2. (Have watched season 10 because season 6 is a little heavy for me currently. Will be going through the S10 episodes and posting my fave moments.)
First gif, Goren does his noticing weird stuff and Eames immediately clocks what he's thinking. (Eames: You're not thinking suicide.) She loves to give him the opening for a "convince me" argument, challenging him.
Second gif, is their little argument over the suicide note.
Goren: No note, no motive for suicide. Eames: Only one in six leave a note. You know that.
At the same time she's so done with his shit and loves it. She seems to love just baiting him into debates. And he's ready to go defend his position. Well, the ME is also done with their shit and ready to get them out of there. I'm sad we don't get to see them debate it out.

Watching Criminal Intent and skipped to episode 1 of season 10.
This scene alone... I mean, they try to tell us these two are completely platonic about each other and don't love each other like that and all that jazz...
I'm sorry, but this isn't a "haha my partner's doing something funny"-look. This is an "I love this man to bits and want to fuck him six ways to sunday"-look.

Maybe not exactly what you were asking for, but anyway... my take on a conversation between Ludo and Selena...
###
"What are you doing here?" Ludo asked Selena as they unloaded groceries from the car.
"The LAPD is paying for childcare, so…"
"You're right, the LAPD is paying for childcare. If you're trying to tell me you're checking up on it…" Ludo laughed. "You got to do a lot better than that. So, why are you here? Really?"
Their attention was drawn by a loud noise at the front door of Morgan's house. Elliot had dropped a tin and it had burst open. Now he was fretting over it as Morgan tried to calm the situation.
Ludo looked at Selena and saw a definite answer to his question. "Morgan's great, isn't she?"
Selena smiled brighter. "The best."
Just then, Morgan looked up and over to them. Her face softened and she smiled brightly.
Ludo snorted. "If I were you, I wouldn't worry. She obviously feels the same way." He turned around, grabbed a bag and handed it to Ava, who carried it inside.
"I don't know what you mean." Selena crossed her arms.
"I can only repeat myself, you got to do a lot better than that to convince me. I've seen those looks before. She likes you, too. You should just go for it."
Selena studied him for long moments with narrowed eyes. "You think so?"
"Absolutely. If it's any consolation, she has never looked at me the way she looks at you."
"And how is that?"
"Like she's absolutely besotted." He grabbed the last bag, closed the trunk and started walking toward the house. "You coming?" He grinned.
I would pay good money for a fic that was an extended conversation between Selena Soto and Ludo as they watch Morgan helping the kids with some task.

Absence Makes...
Mycroft entered his home and headed straight for the home office to get some work done. Foreign relations had simply refused to relate, and the past couple of weeks had been, in a word, draining. He wanted to punch out several dignitaries who were unworthy of the title and knock some sense into them.
Luckily, for them, it did not come to fisticuffs.
He had his phone in his hand as he entered the office to sit at the desk and do some work.
So why was the undialed phone in his hand, while he stared out the window?
Has nearly half an hour passed? God, I cannot remember the last time I felt so drained, I lost time like this.
He groaned as his phone buzzed with a new text message.
Oh, what NOW?
Then he smiled, realizing it was his personal phone, and that he recognized the buzz pattern.
Gregory.
He mentally blinked at just how much the thought of the man elevated his mood. Gregory had a way of doing that, even if the man himself was unaware he did so.
Mycroft does not know when he fell in love with the man. Only that, for all the considerable power he wielded, he did not have enough to tell the man how he felt. They had come a long way in their friendship from their very acrimonious beginnings, and he would not risk that for anything.
Better friends than nothing. He tells himself, again.
Then he looked down at the message, and the smile fell from his face.
10 May | 2000: I hope you’re taking care of yourself. Or at least Anthea is forcing you to do so.
That sounded like he does not expect to see me again. It cannot have been that long, can it?
He scrolled through the past messages received from him.
10 April | 1500: Oh, that sucks, but I understand. Next week?
17 April | 1742: Again? No, I get it. I do.
20 April | 1922: Is this a conspiracy?
22 April | 1603: I’m beginning to take offence.
28 April | 0805: Okay, I am absolutely taking offence.
08 May | 1158: Do you know how long it’s been?
Mycroft mentally hung his head. It’s been a month?!  A solid month. Absence Makes...
Now he understood why he felt out of sorts. Much to his delight, he and Gregory have met for regular dinners and sometimes just to chat. It has been a boon to his life, he had not fathomed until now, realizing that he has not seen and has barely spoken to the man in a month.
And Gregory, clearly having resigned himself to being someone beneath Mycroft’s attention when that was furthest from the truth, still reached out to ensure he was taking care of himself.
That is why I love that man, even if he does not know it, and this separation will not do.
He sped dialed Gregory’s number.
“Holmes?” Gregory’s surprised voice answered, “What’s wrong? Is it Sherlock? What do you need?”
And Mycroft felt even more ashamed of himself.
He has regressed to using my surname again? He thinks I’m only calling because I want something. Fix this now!
“Mycroft?” Gregory prompted after a long silence.
Mycroft gathered his courage and answered softly, “You. I need you, Gregory.”
“Pardon?”
Mycroft could hear Gregory’s surprise.
And is that HOPE that he has heard correctly in his voice? Does he WANT me, as I him?
“Please do not pardon me for the unforgivable act of letting a month pass without seeing you. You are not allowed to let me do that to us again, Gregory.” Mycroft chided.
He heard Gregory’s breath catch at the “us,” followed by a long silence of his making this time.
“Gregory?”
“Oh, you bastard!” Gregory’s voice was tremulous, but absolutely happy. “Now that I know for sure there is an US, you best believe, I’m holding you to task.”
Mycroft blinked. He already thought there was an us?!?!
“I know what that look means.” Gregory continued, amusement coloring his voice.
“We’re on the phone!” Mycroft glanced at his phone to confirm it was not a video call. “What look?”
“That flick of your right brow when I’ve surprised you with something I said that you find pleasing, before you return to your default stoic face.” Gregory replied, “Do you have any idea how long that took?”
“How long did what take?”
“For me to figure out that we’ve been unofficially dating for a few months. Well, until this past month anyway, but both of us were too chicken shite to say the words. I… thought you might have changed your mind…” Gregory admitted sheepishly.
“… Gregory, never! I…”
“…I am glad to know I was wrong about that and would like to take this from unofficial to official, Mycroft,” Gregory spoke over him. “And there’s that look again, no?”
And like Gregory knew his face, Mycroft could all but see that the man grinned on his side of the line.
In for a pence, in for a pound… “How official would you like to make it, Gregory?”
“Tell my night details to meet me in thirty minutes. I don’t want to drive, official.” The man did not miss a beat.
Oh!
“Why thirty minutes?” It was only after he heard Gregory’s chuckle in response that it occurred to Mycroft that, technically, Gregory was not supposed to know about the detail that guarded him at his flat after hours.
Of course, he knows. He’s not a stupid man – I couldn’t love him if he were.
“Because after so much time? I promise you a mere overnight with me will not be enough, Mycroft Holmes. I’m packing for a couple of days. If you’re working, you’ve got until I arrive to finish it.”
The sheer confidence in Gregory’s voice – did things…
And this is only the beginning!
Suddenly, dignitaries -worthy or otherwise- were the least of Mycroft’s concerns.

It's not just me hopefully... But those "comments" sound awfully like written with AI. It just sets my AI radar off like crazy.
PSA
Just a heads up, there are bots going around on AO3 accusing people of using AI. Considering the timing, this is likely AI bros' retaliation for AO3 users calling them out for scraping their work. Examples of what you might be sent:
