All experiments needed a control group, any good scientist would know that well. A control group to not be directly distributed by any outlying variables, and right now that control group was Councilor Jayce Talis.

Her backstory

Katherine was born a regular human to her father (Florian) and her mother (Nicolette). After her mother and father divorced, Florian remarried her stepfather (Eugene). Her stepfather ignited her love of physics, causing her to beg him to take her to a take your kid to work day at his job, and according to an amazing coincidence, Eugene worked in the same lab that was from the Atom Eve special, (he worked on an entirely different project) while Eugene was working Kat went off to find something fun to do. While she was sneaking around, she saw Eve. Well, it was when she had gotten rid of her mental block, and during the chaos, Kat was exposed to Eve's powers. Resulting in her own and the destruction of the lab, leaving people injured. Admist the chaos Eugene was left deaf after the accident at the lab. Her powers take her specific manifestation due to her being one of those really competitive kids in gym class and doing track in middle school. (She had to drop it bcz of her powers)

In the present day, she takes on the persona of Kinetica. She became close with Eve and Rex while being on the teen team! She goes to school with Mark, Eve, Amber, and William. She's a physics major and a full time student. She actually meets William first on campus by complimenting his shirt. She doesn't really feel the need to hide her identity, she wears her own merch most of the time. After the Invincible and Omni-Man fight she's left homeless with her parents. In season two she struggles with her grades due to being at the shelter. She becomes friends with Amber when she volunteers at the shelter. Kat sadly develops a crush on Amber, she obviously doesn't act on it out of respect. In the middle of season 2, Cecil gifts her and her family a new house so she lowkey feels indebted to him to stay a hero.

In season three, she works at a part-time job with her dad, Florian, at the cafe he owns as a barista. During the invincible variant war, she saves Amber and a few other civilians from a Mark variant who treated Amber like his entire world. Her identity gets revealed in front of Amber, and the poor girl starts avoiding Amber. They do get closer in the show's eventual season four.

I was just wondering if the yellowjackets fandom is smart enough to understand the racial history on why so many people are weirded out by how Mari's death was executed. The treament with Mari's body was disgusting, and so was Javi's. They both were treated like livestock, and before the Shuana stans get their panties in a twist and start yelling and screaming at the air hear me out.

TW: mentions of lynch!ng, f3tishization of women of color, racial prejudice, and stereotypes in shows and media

Throughout history, POC bodies were ostracized and over-sexualized since who knows how long by their white counter parts, especially women of color. For example, the f3tishization of Latina and black women (i.e., "need me a black girl with butterfly locs" or "need me a spicy latina/torta")

The idea of Mari's body being stripped in the snow and hung upside-down should've never been discussed in the first place due to the hundreds of similar hate crimes that have been committed and justified against POC, i.e. lynch!ng and cutting hair. Hair is ridiculously important to many heritages, not just POC, so having a white character wear their victims hair as a trophy is disgusting, especially since Shauna is the main person who wanted to hunt Mari.

This show was never good at writing their POC characters. Most, if not all, of them fall into harmful sterotypes;

TAISSA: the angry black woman

Taissa is shown to be aggressive from the pilot (breaking a girl's leg) she also has an even more aggressive alter ego.

LOTTIE: the "pocahontas"

This isn't really a trope I just needed a name for this. Lottie's actresses are both Maori. Lottie's main characterization is that she talks to the wilderness...(let's use common sense here)

MARI: the sassy latina

This one is pretty straightforward. All them writers really did was have Mari say some comebacks and be latina. There was almost little to no substance when we first meet her.

SIMONE: the disposable black girlfriend

Taissa's wife, Ooh girl. We meet Simone in the adult timeline is her and Tai is being cute and domestic even after we learn that Tai has cheated. Simone is willing to forgive. Simone is essentially disposed of when the show drops the bomb that Van is alive. Simone is replaced by Van in the romance department.
