This is so accurate it hurts. Where is that old meme about reporting facebook images with the option "I am in that picture and don't like it?

Uhhh non-writers/non-artists don’t interact

I love magic and magic settings for stories and while magic in a modern setting can be interesting, I am trying to puzzle together a plot/setting in a more steampunk/industrial world. It gives me some room for basic technology a mediaval world wouldn't allow, more room for science without technology basically being able to replace everything magic can do.
I am currently not much further than planning out one location in which the whole thing plays. Maybe other locations will be mentioned, but for my current plot I don't see any need for my characters to travel, even with the existence of trains making travel much easier for common people.
Still pondering the extend of magic though.

AU ideas can be the curse of ones existence, because they always come at random and always seem to fit into whatever fandom you're into at that moment...
i started a wine knowledge course today. i'd say it's going fine EXCEPT NOW I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT A SOMMELIER AU. imagine it. imagine your favs as sommeliers. or sommelier and chef. or rival sommeliers. or sommelier and kind customer. or sommelier and mean customer. THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS.
fanfic follows me in every aspect of my life and i am often reminded of that

Or the very reasonable question of why not many murderers cremate their dead or various options of murder.
And staring into the distance is such a time sink, it is unfair
Non-writers don't understand how much of writing is just googling things like "when was the croissant invented" for worldbuilding reasons and staring off into the distance.

I started trying to write my own original story after finding an idea and noticing I can't squish it somewhere as a fanfic.
Within a few days of planning, I gained a lot of respect for people writing crime stories, because figuring out a killer, a motive, a timeline, where the victims come from, how the victims are chosen, in what state they are left in, where and why are many things I never even considered when just reading crime novels.
But even so, planning it all out is its own kind of fun and it is nice when I get that one idea that nicely slots it all together.
