The Better Sidekick
Tumblr media
Henry Hart x Fem!Reader
Enemies to Lovers
(Or if you want specifics- Friends to Enemies to Frenemies to Lovers)
Summary- Henry and you have worked together as Captain Man's sidekicks ever since the unfortunate circumstance of showing up to the job interview at the same time five years ago. Ever since it had been a constant battle to compete for who exactly is the better sidekick.
Warnings- Sexism (only at first), It might seem like Ray Manchester slander in some points, but I swear it's not, both reader and henry are petty, reader can seem like a b*tch at times, timeline issues, a few uses of y/n (but that's not really an issue to me personally), tension, non canon (obviously), detaching yourself as a coping mechanism, angst, dangerous situations, it got more serious than I intended it to for being a kids show, a few curse words (not censored in the actual writing),
A/n: this starts off VERY rocky at first because I never know how to start fics but I promise you it gets much better after a little while. <3 I also believe this is my longest fic so far which is hilarious to me. Feel free to give feedback! Thank you again for reading
Tumblr media
At first, you didn't exactly hate Henry Hart. You were both kids when you met five years ago. Two 13 year old kids who just wanted to get some money to buy meaningless things.
Both of you had stumbled out of the elevator at the same time, holding onto each other for support after the dizzying drop you had both just encountered.
While you were still gaining your composure, Henry spoke up from beside you, asking if you were alright. You released yourself from his hold and offered a small smile of gratitude.
You both ended up getting a job working for Captain Man. Everything went relatively smoothly at first, having you focus more on the sidelines while working on the Man Cave's Computer system.
You had volunteered many times to go out in the field with Ray so that Henry had time to recover from his various injuries. Henry was constantly pushed to his limits, and you were forced to witness it time after time as he came stumbling back from missions all battered and beaten.
Feeling bad for the boy, you decided to change spots and put on his costume to fight crime with Captain Man before he got a chance to show up for work one day. It left you with a broken rib from getting thrown through a countertop in a diner across town.
Henry was furious and glared at you when you got back to the Man Cave. Ray clapped you on the back with a smirk. You repressed a groan as you clutched an arm to your ribs, pretending you were perfectly fine. Clearly you needed more practice out there, but if it gave Henry a break, you would endure it again.
"Well done kid. You really threw yourself at that burly criminal! He never saw it coming!" Ray chuckled, proud of the outcome of the mission. He went over to the Autosnacker and began ordering, turning away from you. Ray was oblivious to the angry teenager that stood in the middle of the room with his arms crossed. It made the young boy's anger grow even more.
"You know, you're like a Kid Danger 2.0" He continued as he threw some pieces of popcorn into his mouth. "Oh, I got it!! How about Girl Danger! Yeah?" He raised an eyebrow, still riding the high from the fight, and pointed a finger towards the injured girl who still wore Henry's superhero suit. You had moved to stand beside the boy, trying to silently apologize for taking his costume. It was exciting to be out there fighting the bad guys, it was a rush, but a part of you still felt bad for making him so angry.
"Really? The only way she would be dangerous is when she's on her period." Henry finally spoke up, his anger finally boiling to the surface as he laughed bitterly. That made you snap your head towards him in shock.
"Ha! Thats a good one, Kid!" Their boss agreed, not really taking a moment to realize how upsetting it was to the girl who practically threw herself into danger to help keep him out of harm's way.
That is when the real distain started towards Henry Hart. Their shared laughter rang in your ears for weeks. Mocking you as if you were less than. It bugged you, eating away at you from the inside out. Even at just 13, the backhanded sexist comment wasn't lost on you.
Sure, it was out of jealousy and bitterness, but at the time it hurt you more than you would ever admit.
Tumblr media
There were many little moments that made your hatred for him grow even more. Since that whole incident, you both started a rivalry to see which one of you could be a better sidekick for Captain Man. Between the yelling, arguing and nitpicking at the little missteps in each other's routine during a fight, it was quickly becoming the only consistent thing in both of your lives.
At one point there was even a poll online for who Captain Man's best sidekick was according to the citizens of Swellview. No one knew who had won since a certain someone hacked into the Swellview Internet Database and deleted all of the information that ever existed about it. Not a single person stepped forward to confess but everyone in the Man Cave had a sneaking suspicion about who had done it. Schwoz, the little smirking man in the corner when the internet shut down while Henry and you were huddled around the computer screen with Ray for the results. What a shame.
The saving grace, however, was Charlotte. The two of you became quick friends, and you finally gained another girl on your side. You weren't alone anymore and that made working there a whole lot easier. It also gave you more time to one-up everything that Henry did. The two of you got quite close over the four years that she was a part of the team.
Charlotte hated your petty rivalry and often called it 'childish and unnecessary'. The one time she had to cover as a substitute Kid Danger was when you were sick. Normally you would've jumped on the opportunity, but Schwoz had decided to feed you some science cookies he had cooked up and now you were currently curled up on the couch in the man cave with ice on your head as Schwoz kept asking you obvious questions.
You looked up with an expectant smile as you saw the tube come down with Charlotte stepping out from under it soon after. A disgusted look on her face as she wiped off the sludge that had gathered on her arms from the mission. Her costume was singed at the edges and her hair was fuzzy, sticking up in all different directions. It was almost comical and reminded you of how cartoons picture characters after an explosion. "I don't know how you and Henry can do this for a living. You've done this for years and you're still not tired of it. I've done it for a day and I'm ready for retirement."
You laughed at her joke, which was soon followed by a cough. "Thank you for covering for me. Henry couldn't do it because of some stupid after school thing"
"Is everything he does stupid to you?" She asked as she plopped down beside you.
Your nose scrunched up as a waft of her stench drifted towards you, almost making you even more sick just by the smell. "Not everything. Just most things- Ugh what is that?"
"uhh.. burnt anchovies, I think? I was standing in the canned food aisle of Swellview Foods when some petty criminal decided to blow up the things he deemed 'Too Expensive'"
"You smell awful, Char but on the bright side I think you opened up my sinuses." A brief moment of laughter was shared between the two before Charlotte reached into the pocket of the Kid Danger suit and pulled out a shriveled anchovy. She dropped it onto your lap, and you squirmed away quickly, knocking off the icepack in the process.
"Looks like there was a survivor" She smirked before getting back up. "You should really talk to him, you know. Outside of work, I mean. You two would actually be friends if you weren't in constant competition."
After getting off of the couch, Schwoz swiftly jabbed you in the arm with the finished antidote. You yelped and swatted at his arm out of retaliation. Realizing you didn't respond to your friend, you turned back to her with a shrug. "I like making his life difficult, it keeps him on his toes"
"Or! Maybe you just like being on his mind constantly, any way that you can be. Because you like him~" She teased and got up from the couch as well, pointing an accusatory finger to your chest.
"I don't.. Like him" You mumbled, matching her tone.
Speak of the devil. The elevator beeped and out came Henry. He dropped his school bag by the door and walked over to the group. "I see the she-devil has arisen" He smiled and nodded to you. There lacked any ill intention behind his comment as he continued. “Feeling any better?"
"Just peachy" You replied quickly and crossed your arms, your mood instantly souring upon his arrival in the Man Cave. It was as if on instinct you fell back into your petty ways. Charlotte sighed in frustration and went off to the back to shower finally.
Your eyes watched the boy silently before finally speaking again, letting your arms drop to your sides. "How was the after-school program?"
After raising a questioning brow, curious of your motives, he went to get comfortable on the couch. "Principal says I can make up for all the classwork I missed from wor-" As soon as he sat down the condensation from the ice pack instantly made its way onto his pants. He grimaced. "Why is my butt wet?" After another moment he gasped. "And why does it smell so fishy?"
Schwoz giggled. "Henry has wet butt!" You looked to the man and shook your head, trying desperately to hide your amusement but inevitably failed, joining in with the laughter.
Taking a few strides towards where the boy sat you reached down to the seat beside him and tossed the shriveled anchovy in his direction. He shrieked and fell backwards, landing unceremoniously on his back. Sprawled out on the floor, he groaned dramatically.
You smirked before reaching over to the 'Sick bin' that Schwoz had set out for you earlier. Reaching inside, you grabbed a towel and placed it on the table for him while he wasn't looking before walking off to the back.
Tumblr media
It was another night patrol in Swellview. It should've been relatively simple. A call came in complaining of loud banging in the alleyway near their apartment building.
Crime was pretty slow that night, otherwise you all probably would've ignored the call and just given it to the police to deal with. Henry was busy with a family reunion, which he insisted wasn't very important, but you beat him to the mission first. Much to his disappointment.
Captain Man walked beside you in the dark alley, passing by some dingey dumpsters that rattled softly. "You should check that out"
"Why do I need to check it out?" You asked, looking up at him with a raised eyebrow. Your mask scrunched around your nose slightly with the movement.
"Because you're..shorter" He explained simply, as if it made all the sense in the world.
You picked up a stray pipe that was lying on the concrete before giving in. With a sigh, not willing to argue pointlessly, you approached the dumpster with caution.
Opening the lid with a creak, you looked over the edge to see a bunch of trash bags stacked together inside. You made a curious hum before a startled screech rang out. A fluffy raccoon jumped out of the dumpster, clinging to your face as you fell backwards on the ground. The pipe clattered beside you as you frantically tried to pry the animal off of you. "Captain Man!"
Ray laughed, holding his stomach as he bent over from excursion. "Oh! You got raccooned!"
A noise from the dumpster drew his attention, stopping the laughter as he approached it without a care in the world.
Just as you released the claws of the raccoon from your skin, it skittered away quickly and you rose to your feet, panting. Sending an angry glare towards your boss. You were about to comment before you saw a second raccoon spring up and latch onto Captain Man.
It clawed angrily at his face, sinking its nails into each piece of flesh it could. This one seemed much scrawnier and rabid than the one that had attacked you previously.
You could have helped, you really could've, but instead you decided to take a step back, pipe in hand and a content smirk on your lips as you waited for the onslaught to end so you could return back to the Man Cave. "Karma"
-Back in the Man Cave-
"If he wasn't invincible, I swear he would have had rabies by now" Your amused laugh rang out. Currently you sat by Henry on the couch, still clad in your suit as you watched your boss pacing back and forth angrily. "Do you see him foaming at the mouth too?" You leaned over to the boy to whisper.
That had Henry looking at your boss as well. Sharing a laugh together seemed to draw the man's attention. Ray furiously wiped at the corner of his mouth. White foam suspiciously frothed up and leaked from his lips. "It's not rabies!" He insisted, clearly irritated by the joke.
"Schwoz will fix the rabies! Come here." Came a voice from behind the couch, the scientist popping up into your line of sight. His smile crazed with barely contained excitement.
"Stay away from me Schwoz!" Ray warned, grabbing the nearest weapon to him in order to defend himself.
A chase ensued around the entire Man Cave. Surprisingly Schwoz could move very quickly when he wanted to. Like right now, as he was now equipped with a long test tube and multiple cotton swabs. "Let me schwab you!"
"There will be no schwabbing! I'm perfectly healthy!"
By this time the scratches and bite marks had disappeared completely on the superhero's skin, but that didn't sway the scientist away from his persuit.
"Oh, come on! Just let the man schwab your mouth, Ray!" Henry spoke up beside you, a playful tone taking over as you both continued to watch with amusement.
"If he was going to schwab my mouth, I wouldn't be running from him! He's a maniac! Now, help me fend him off!"
"I uh... we can't! I have to help y/n clean those cuts. real serious stuff. Not all of us can be invincible, you know"
You turned to Henry, confused by his excuse but before you could protest, he was already dragging you towards the bathroom with a firm grip on your hand. Remaining silent, still caught off guard by the sudden movement, you allowed it to happen.
He ushered you inside and you quickly took a seat atop the counter near the sink, scooching back enough that your back hit the mirror.
After rummaging around in the cabinet, he turned back to you and uncapped a bottle of peroxide.
"You do know I can probably just get something to heal me quickly from Schwoz, right? You don't have to do all of this"
Henry only poured out some peroxide on a cotton ball and leaned in closer, his hand lingering close to your cheek before answering you. "I know, but did you really want to stay for The Schwabbing?" He asked dramatically before smirking.
That got you to laugh, unable to stop the sound from escaping your mouth. A blush crept up onto your cheeks as you realized he actually made you laugh for the first time in years. You blamed it on your potential rabies.
He stared a moment too long, admiring the way the corners of your mouth tilted upwards, the small spark in your eyes. The genuine happiness that he had only caught glimpses of when you hung out with anyone besides him.
The kind smile he thought he had erased permanently years ago. The twinkle in your eyes that he feared he had snuffed out. It was there, caused by him.
You cleared your throat to get his attention, and he blinked out of his trance. "Just let me clean these up and we can go our separate ways, alright?"
With a nod, you let him gently slide the cotton ball against your jawline. His movements only stopped when you would flinch harshly away from him. Henry, however, didn't stray away from you as he worked. Which was odd for you, but you didn't dare question it, the thundering of your heart too loud to override your anxious questions.
Once you realized that the air was getting too heavy between you, you abruptly dodged his hand and hopped off of the counter.
"Anyway, uh... Night, Hen" You muttered quickly before departing the room and leaving his standing there, hand held limply in the air where you once were.
You both never spoke of the moment again after that, but he knew that that was the moment that permanently altered his mind and the way he thought about you. He liked you, he just didn't want to admit it to himself yet.

Their shared experiences left them as far better people than how they began. They weren't kids anymore. The things you once hated him for, he had grown out of. Sadly, it was difficult to kick a habit you had created and stuck by for years. It was like muscle memory at this point.
You had to admit that he had grown a lot since you first met. Mentally and physically for that matter. It was lucky that you got to grow together and experience things firsthand alongside him all of these years.
Tumblr media
“How could she have gone without me?!" Henry groaned, pacing back and forth Infront of Charlotte who lounged on the couch. She didn't particularly have an issue with the situation and replied boredly, scrolling on her pear phone without looking up at her distressed friend.
"Her and Ray have been going without you for years, Hen. You're really surprised by this?"
"Well..no! But it's still annoying, ok? The least Ray could've done is tell me about it before they left. It's like he doesn't care either!"
"Maybe he finally wanted to respect your boundaries and give you a well-deserved break?" Her lip twitched up into a smirk before they both doubled over with laughter. She sighed with a smile as the laughter died down. Shrugging and waving her hand dismissively she continued. "Y/n can handle it. Plus, he probably just forgot, that's all"
The moment of distraction calmed his nerves briefly. "I should still go after them. You said they left how long ago?"
The girl glanced over to the clock on the wall. The glass was cracked from the last 'target practice' that was held in the Man Cave. It took her a moment to interpret it before she looked back over to the boy. "About 2 hours ago. But hey, that's not saying much! Remember when you guys were stuck in the Swellview Sewers overnight?"
Henry grimaced. "Ugh, don't remind me. That smell haunts my dreams to this day"
He remembered that day vividly, not just because of the smell but because you happened to be the one to rescue him.
-Flashback-
Captain Man had been beeping your watch for over an hour. It was now 5am on a Tuesday morning and you had a major history exam in the morning that would have made the difference between passing or failing the class entirely. Reluctantly you answered the call and groggily spoke. "I swear if you're calling me for something dumb like a late ice cream delivery-"
"Ice Cream? Hey Kid, there's ice cream. what kind do you-" The phone was abruptly pulled from their boss's hand as Henry spoke, his shoulders barely above the muck they were both covered in.
"We need your help. Swellview Sewers. Stuck on a pipe." He said quickly and tried to move around yet again but to no avail. His utility belt only made a light clanging noise underneath the ‘water’.
"Jeez, can I at least get a please?" You smirked and tilted your head, waiting expectantly. After getting up to grab your tube of gum from your bag you crossed your arms and listened for his reply.
After what felt like an hour but was merely a few seconds, he spoke up. "Please.." He spoke quietly, barely audible but your smirk only grew upon hearing it.
"On the way" You said, proud of your small victory, and popped a gumball in your mouth.
Getting down to the Sewers was the easy part. Navigating a safe path to where the boys were was tricky. Your boot kept slipping on the wet gravel path along the side of the sewer drain. It quietly threatened your demise with every step you took.
“Hey! Down here!” Ray managed to wave an arm out of the water, hitting Henry in the face with the backsplash. Raising his arm to wipe it off would only cause more of a disgusting mess so he resisted impulse. With a grimace and cough, he turned his head away as best as he could.
Your head shot up at the sound and you nodded in recognition, continuing your journey to them. “What happened down here?”
“Criminal tried to escape down here and-“
“He DID escape, Captain Man! You made me go after him and look at how that worked out!” Henry spit out his boss’s alias as if the very thought was laughable. Lately he had been taking most of the blow on his adventures with the Superhero. However he didn’t seem to mind it until now, it gave him an opportunity to show off showcase his abilities and prove that he was in fact better at being a sidekick than you.
After many long tireless hours of contemplating this however, he did realize that the competition that you two had been meticulously competing for was long past its expiration date. It was pointless, you were adults now. And you did a damn good job at being Captain Man’s sidekick. Not that he would ever admit that to you directly.
Ray looked to his sidekick with an incredulous look, not expecting such an outburst out of the blue. After shaking it off, he turned back to you, continuing his statement. “Anyway, the criminal escaped, grumpy pants over here slipped and fell in. Got stuck on a pipe in the water and I climbed in-“
“After 5 minutes of complaining” Henry chimed in, but Ray ignored his tone and continued.
“I climbed in to help him get out and ended up getting stuck myself. We tried to get out ourselves but just managed to make things worse.”
You laughed, amused by their one sided bickering. “I think I get the gist of it” After a brief moment of hesitation, you began climbing into the water. Your boss smiled, happy to be rescued. “You’re paying for dry cleaning” His smile dropped as you mumbled out your terms.
It only took a few moments to untangle him from the pipes. Captain Man didn’t wait another second before climbing out. Henry shuffled back on instinct as you got closer to him. The movement had the pipe clanging under the water.
“If you keep moving, you’ll just get more stuck, genius” Your voice came, reprimanding. He obeyed and stiffened as you advanced towards him even closer. The pipe he had been stuck to was bent in an odd way underneath the water and you grunted as you tugged his utility belt against it.
The pipe protested and held strong against your strength, causing you to move closer to his body. Your hip bumped against his thigh and he couldn’t help his mind from focusing on the warmth you provided through your suit. Everything you were doing caused his mind to go into hyperdrive. Hyper aware of your every move. Your fingers brushed over his stomach as they searched for the cause of the imprisonment. Nimble fingers drifting across the compartments on his belt.
Short breaths of concentration were puffed out against his ear and he blushed, turning his face away from you to hide it. After finally releasing him from the pipes, you grabbed onto his upper arms to steady him. “You alright?”
“Just peachy” he mumbled, pulling away from your grasp. Returning back to his grumpy attitude from before, then gently moving past you to get out.
-End of Flashback-
He blamed his odd behavior towards you as sleep deprivation at first. An excuse that he now came to realize was just that, an excuse. From that day on, he started picking up on the little things you did. The quirks he hadn’t noticed before. Everything from tapping your thigh with your fingertips when you got nervous, to sudden shifts in the way you stared at people. He was beginning to read you as if you were the most interesting book he had ever picked up.
It was frightening to fall for someone who hated you so fiercely. His attitude towards you lessened significantly. He had started to include you rather than blatantly ignoring you. The sudden shift had startled you, but you never seemed to waver from giving him your sarcastic replies and snarky remarks, if anything, they had just increased in the past few weeks.
“Have you heard anything back from them?”
Before Charlotte could reply, the doors at the back of the Man Cave opened, earning both of their attention. Schwoz and Ray emerged, laughing about a weapon test that had apparently worked well. The shorter man held an oversized plastic container filled with Cheez-Balls.
Their boss didn’t seem to pay them any mind as he plopped down on the couch beside Charlotte. After feeling their eyes bore holes into the side of his face, he finally looked up at them confused. “What’s the haps?”
“Wha- why are you here? You’re supposed to be with Y/n on the mission” Charlotte spoke from her spot, just as confused as Henry seemed to be. The boy hadn’t spoken a word since their arrival.
“Hm? Oh! She wanted to go alone.” Ray replied with a smile, making a grabby hand gesture towards the Scientist who leaned against the Autosnacker.
“You let her go on a mission solo? You didn’t even try to stop her?”
“Relax kid, she will be fine. Pass the Cheez-Balls” Ray said in passing, not having any interest in arguing with Henry. He motioned for the cheese balls that was currently being guarded by Schwoz after being ignored the first time.
“You get no cheese bawls” The man pouted and hugged the cheesy snacks to his chest. With a smile, and blatant disregard for his boss, he offered a few cheese balls to Henry that were previously resting in the man’s palm. “Henry, do you want cheese bawls? They’re gewd!”
“No! I don’t want your cheese bawls!” Henry responded with a a wave of his hand. “I want y/n back!”
The room went quiet as everyone let the sidekick realize what he had just said. His eyes widened as he heard himself, stuttering to backtrack. “She’s never gone alone on a mission, I mean. You really want to lose a sidekick?”
“She has been going out there alone for weeks.” Schwoz commented, not realizing the boys distress.
“Even caught the Raging Clown last week. Did you not know?” Ray looked to Henry, shrugging. It hadn’t been a big deal since you consistantly came back, seemingly just fine. Although worse for wear, but hidden well enough.
“Ugh!” Henry groaned and walked over to his bag to pull out his tube of gum.
His boss looked over to him confused. “Where are you headed, Kid?”
“To go help her! Someone should!” He said angrily before blowing a bubble. His clothes changed instantly into his Kid Danger suit before he went over to the tube. “Up the Tube!”
-Across town in an old metal workshop-
Your body was dangled from the chains attached to a crane. It was a terrible situation you got yourself into. Ever since your recent encounters with your fellow Side Kick, you had been trying desperately to busy yourself with work. Your mind betraying you with misconceived thoughts about him. Thoughts you initially believed had been changed and you didn’t know how to cope with it.
It had worked well for the most part, besides today.
Upon arrival, you were bombarded by several goons who had ambushed you. Your vision was snuffed out as one of them covered your head with an old burlap sack.
Next thing you knew, you were waking up attached to the chains, dangling precariously over a boiling pot of something unrecognizable. Your head hurt, which you realized was probably due to being knocked out with a heavy object prior.
This gave you more time to think, which is exactly what you wanted to avoid doing to begin with. Your mind was filled with thoughts of Henry. Stupid delusions that couldn’t have possibly been reciprocated. It crushed your heart against your ribs and made it hard to breathe. That may have just been because of the restraints holding you up in the moment, but it didn’t compare to the torment you were constantly put through by your own mind.
A sound rattled from above you. Once looking up, you spotted a smirking man with crooked teeth looking down at you. “Oh good, the little bird lives. Think Captain Man will come save you?” His cackling laughter rang out through the empty warehouse, echoed by a chorus of laughs from all around.
He seemed to be a newer villain in town, no noticeable information about him was gained from your research online. Due to this, you were severely underprepared for this mission. Normally you wouldn’t have thrown yourself into danger with at least a little bit of information prior. However, you hadn’t quite been your usual self recently. Even your friendship with Charlotte began to fracture at the edges because of your dismissive nature and avoidance.
It’s funny how your life hanging in the balance makes you rethink past decisions. You regretted it, and vowed to make it up to her if you made it out of this alive.
Your hope was slowly vanishing as you were lowered down towards the boiling liquid. You squirmed, trying to free your hands from where they were firmly tucked against your sides. Your torso had been completely bound by rope, trapping your arms to your body.
No one was coming for you, you had argued with Captain Man to let you go alone for the past week. He had put his faith in you, so why would he be on his way to save you when you’ve given him no reason to worry?
A hit to the metal doors caught your attention. Consistent pounding and minimal shaking was seen. After a moment of silence, the heavy doors were kicked inwards, slamming open against the worn walls. It created indents in the ancient wood where it had hit.
In came Kid Danger, a cocky smirk grazing his lips. The men on the ground floor looked towards him in shock, not expecting the sudden intrusion. You would be lying if you said your heart didn’t beat quicker at the sight of him.
It felt like a blur as your eyes tracked his movements. He swiftly kicked one man back into an old wooden shipping box, having it crumble around his form as he groaned.
Two others rushed towards him, awoken by the newfound danger of the situation. One took advantage and hooked his arm around Henry’s neck, rearing him back towards his chest as the other man kicked him in the stomach.
“Kid Danger!” You shouted after finding your words again. His attention was pulled to you, finding renewed strength as he elbowed his captor in the ribs to be freed. After escaping successfully, he swirled around to punch him in the jaw, then swung his elbow back to hit his other attacker.
Kid Danger had since grown to become a force of reckoning, surprising everyone, including you and Captain Man. He made the climb to the second level where he met with the head villain. The man eyed him for a moment before laughing. “You’re no Captain Man, kid. Come on, give me a real challenge”
Henry wasted no time in yanking the man towards him and twisting his body towards the edge of the platform. The villain cling on desperately to Henry’s leg. Almost getting pulled down with him, the Sidekick grabbed onto a swinging pot next to him and swung it hard in-front of him, effectively knocking the stubborn man down to the first floor.
You tried resisting the urge to smile, the corners of your mouth curling up slightly. He caught it, of course he did with how much he noticed you.
“Thank you” you muttered quietly, avoiding his eyes as they stared you down.
The quiet moment was interrupted as his voice reached your ears, more frustrated than ever before. It was foreign coming from him. There was a lack of anger, just pure distress and worry. Of course there was an angry undertone to it, but it wasn’t primarily the one you stuck to. “You’re so determined to beat me at my own game that you’re willing to risk your own life?”
Instinctively your brows creased and you scoffed in disbelief. “I could’ve handled it”
His hands worked quickly to swing you in towards him on the floorboards, no longer dangling. Diligent fingers untied the rope around your wrists and waist. After it was off he sighed, tossing it aside as he looked to you, one hand still lingering just above your side to make sure you were balanced.
“Oh yea, it sure looked like it when you were dangling over the pot of melted metal waiting to be turned into a nice piece of jewelry. Tell me, oh wise one. How would you have handled it, huh? What were you going to do?”
“Well, before you rudely swung in to steal the show.. I was going to-“
“Really? You’re going to argue over this NOW?! Will one of you just come over and help me round up the criminals?”
It was then that you both realized Captain Man had entered the warehouse, having followed Henry out of guilt necessity. The criminals were mostly tied up against one of the walls. A lot had happened since you started arguing. You both blushed and went down to help silently.
-Back in the Man Cave-
Charlotte sat at the computer with Schwoz looking over her shoulder eating Cheez-Balls. The crumbs cascaded down her shoulder and she whined, turning the chair away from him. “Schwoz!”
Ray, Henry and you entered the Man Cave after coming down the tubes in your suits. It was quiet between the three of you and the tension was suffocating.
It was quiet as you made your way to the couch. “Show off” you mumbled, grumpy and angry, mostly with yourself for needing to be saved in the first place. The comment was bitter and unnecessary but felt like a natural response towards him at this point.
“Halfwit” he shot back, pretending to focus on picking his nailbeds.
“You don’t even know what that means, idiot”
“So? Do you ever stop being a bitch? I saved your life today!”
“And I said thank you!”
The group in the Man Cave stayed completely silent as you both argued, not willing to cause more damage. Something had clearly happened during the mission and neither Charlotte, nor Schwoz were going to speak up. Even Captain Man was quiet, not willing to get screamed at by either of you.
“Thank you doesn’t mean anything if you’re just going to continue going back out there and putting yourself in unnecessary danger! Why do you keep doing that?”
“To keep you out of it!”
Henry shut his mouth for a moment, considering your words before he continued, less angry than before. His tone softening. “It’s my job”
“I’ve seen you come back from missions on death’s doorstep. You put your heart and soul into this job and it’s slowly killing you. Do you know how worried I get when you can’t even stand after being beaten down by a guy twice your size?” Your words kept spilling out, the floodgates having opened up. “I can’t just sit by and watch you get hurt over and over again! That’s why I did this in the first place. Do you really think I wanted to take your job? I wanted to give you a damn break!”
Maybe it was the stress that had been building from the past few weeks, maybe it was the heavy onslaught of missions, or maybe it was just because you would rather take a thousand hits than let any harm befall him.
After a few heavy pants, you stared at him. Waiting for his reaction. When one didn’t seem to be coming, you frowned. Exhausted.
“Forget I said-“
His lips met yours, softly at first, afraid you would push him away. It took you a moment to realize what had happened. An arm held you firmly around your waist, pinning you to his chest as he kissed you. It was hesitant, distant in a sense. The tips of his fingers barely grazing your cheek, not quite pressing down, afraid to be rejected.
Sure, he had wanted to kiss you for a while, but he was still uncertain if you wanted him in return. Henry began to pull away before you pulled him back towards you, bunching the fabric of his suit in your fist. You kissed him back with a sigh, softer than he thought was possible from you.
As soon as you pulled apart, only far enough to look into each other's eyes. It was quietly pleasant before you saw the cocky smirk begin to form on his lips.
"You're so into me"
Rolling your eyes with an amused smile you responded softly. "Shut up and kiss me, you dork"

A/n: This fic may also not see the light of day since the entire fandom of Henry Danger could all fit inside a single shoe box, but that’s ok. I was going to write more with little scenarios, but it was getting way too long for my liking. If you liked this however, please let me know! It may just be a one off of this fandom, but I wanted to try it out and deliver some content. I also won’t be tagging my regular tag list since this is so different from what I usually write.
I do realize I have to get better with writing fight scenes; I will work on it in the future.
Also, two fics AND a master list all within two days? Something must be wrong with me. (Or it's just my apology from being gone so long)

An Accidental Haunting Part 3 (Final)
Tumblr media
Astrid Deetz x GN!Reader
Summary- After you died, you sort of forgot what it was like to be alive. Now you're forced to do that, learn how to be alive again. Thankfully you have your girlfriend Astrid by your side.
(Aka: Reader is adjusting to being a living, breathing human being again and is now ready to finally reunite with their parents.)
Warnings- Both reader and their parents have trauma, grief, guilt, Reader is mentioned to have had depression in the past, mentions of death (Reader was a ghost/m*rdered), Reader has bad thoughts, terribly low self-esteem, underlying angst to a happy ending, use of y/n, cursing, kissing, mention of why reader died and readers personality, Reader was friends with Jeremy (and I might have painted him as a good person accidentally), blood, bullying mention.
A/N: This is longer than I've ever written so strap in!
Part 1, Part 2
Tumblr media
It was another quiet evening in Astrid's house. Ever since you came back to life, you had been hiding out in the attic of the home. There wasn't really an issue, after all, you had been practically 'hiding' for almost 22 years. You would even go as far as to say that you were an expert at it. However, it was getting more and more difficult to hide from her mother whenever you would hang out in her bedroom, which was more often than not.
Astrid laid on her bed watching a movie you had recommended to her. After weeks of begging to watch it, she finally gave in to your request. The movie in question was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a movie from 1992. The former ghost insisted that older movies were much better than the newer ones that were being featured at the theater in the middle of town only a few minutes away from the house.
So far it seemed that your girlfriend was anything but impressed as she kept flickering her gaze away from the film, focusing entirely on watching your excited facial expressions instead of the screen.
"Are you addressing I?" You muttered, mimicking the scene in the movie. It was said mostly under your breath, not meant for her to hear it.
Astrid groaned, earning herself a glance from where you laid. The back of her thighs were resting on your shoulders as your head used her stomach as a pillow. Your fingertips had been tracing little patterns against the exposed flesh of her legs while you focused on the movie. "Do you ever stop quoting shitty movies?"
"Hey! This is not a shitty movie! Buffy was before her time!" you argued, brow creased together in offense.
"You're just saying that because she's hot" She smirked, teasing, clearly enjoying that your attention was now on her instead of the protagonist on screen.
"whaaat? I would never be that shallow!" Your smile gave way to laughter, not being able to contain the bubbling feeling that arose in your chest.
"Why don't you ever quote historic quotes? Or, you know, creepy shit? I know you like that stuff just as much as I do"
You thought for a moment before turning your head to look at her better. She ran her fingertips over your facial features carefully; afraid you might actually just vanish out of her grasp again. Her touch ghosted along the edge of your jaw, down to the slope of your neck, then across your collarbone to play with the seam of your T-shirt. Your skin felt warm under her touch, calming heartbeat thrumming just beneath the surface, and it was a pleasant change to both of you.
Ever since she brought you back to life, she had a terrible (terribly wonderful) habit of trying to touch you whenever she got the chance to. She had never considered physical touch to be her love language; it was always info dumping or buying things for people that she thought they might like. When it came to showing affection to you, however, it was like second nature.
You were good with words, always saying something to make her laugh or cheer her up. Endless compliments seemed to fall from your lips when you were with her. She never could figure out just what you were going to say next.
"You want me to quote Bram Stoker's Dracula instead?" You spoke quietly, waiting patiently for her reaction as you leaned closer into her touch.
“I am all in a sea of wonders. I doubt; I fear; I think strange things, which I dare not confess to my own soul.” You looked into her eyes as you quoted one of her favorite horror novels, knowing very well that it caught her by surprise.
Her eyes widened, her movements halted abruptly, and you raised an eyebrow. Without another moment to overthink your decisions, she tangled her hands into the front of your shirt, tugging to make you fully turn around to face her properly. Bending your knees to sit fully in front of her. You grew more concerned by her actions.
"If you start talking like that, I'm afraid I'll marry you" Astrid finally spoke, a mischievous smile pulling at the corners of her lips.
Letting out a startled laugh, you smiled brightly, turning to look away from her. She placed both of her hands onto your cheeks, turning you back to her to firmly press her lips to yours. You moved to hover over her, holding one hand at the curve of her waist, the other propped up against the mattress to maintain an ounce of decency between you, preventing your full weight from squishing her.
In response to this, she gave your shirt another harsh tug, causing you to collapse onto her. A huff of air was pulled from your lungs, forcing you to break apart from her and respond. "Kiss me like that again and I’ll consider your proposal" You mumbled, drifting closer once more as your lips brushed gently against hers.
She smiled blissfully up at you. "Maybe I will"
Only a moment passed in comfortable silence between you two before the creaking of her bedroom door startled you. You banged your arm against her bedside table as you jumped away from her, landing unceremoniously on her carpeted floor with a bang.
Lydia entered her daughter's room and stood awkwardly in the doorway just in time for you to hit the ground. "What did you want for dinner tonight-“
“Ow" Your groan was heard from the floor. Holding your head and sitting up, you immediately locked eyes with your girlfriend's mother for the first time.
Astrid cleared her throat to get rid of the tension building in the room, directing Lydia's attention back to her. "That's my partner" she explained shortly while gesturing to you. Getting straight to the point since it would make things easier. There was no point skirting around the truth with what she had already seen.
Your hand shot up to offer her a sheepish smile and wave.
The embarrassment you couldn't feel formerly, suddenly came back full force, your cheeks heating up and painting your cheeks a fiery red. Reaching up to touch your face, the warmth reflected back against your palm. You mumbled out something about "Woah I forgot about that". Easily distracted by the new revelation as you momentarily forgot about the situation unfolding before you. This, of course, earned you a confused stare from both of the women in the room with you.
After clearing your throat and avoiding your girlfriend's pointed stare, you got up from the ground. You walked over to stick your hand out to Lydia with a charming smile. "It's very nice to meet you, Ma'am"
"Well at least they have manners" She smiled, the awkward tension slowly melting away.
Tumblr media
The first meeting with her mother went much better than you expected it to. You both decided it would be best to leave out the part about you being dead prior to this. Now that she knew about your existence, you couldn't exactly stay in the house anymore. It wasn't fair to them, and you knew that. Of course, Astrid protested at first, claiming that you couldn't just be homeless.
That is how she got the brilliant idea of going to see your parents again. Countless excuses began to plague your mind, but you ultimately knew that she was right. It had been far too long since you last saw your parents.
You had been alive for months and avoided visiting them the entire time, even swaying your conversations with Astrid away from anything to do with your family, afraid that she would push you towards resolving the things from your past.
You’ve learned that once she set her mind to something, especially pertaining to you, there was nothing in the world that would stop her from finishing what she needed to do.
Truth be told, your parents never did cope with your death properly. You could see it in their eyes, the empty glossed over stare that once held so much happiness and hope. Humanity had crushed any ounce of joy from their lives when it took you away from them. Not once did you stay long, lingering only for a few fleeting moments when you were a ghost, outside of the large living room window where they resided most of the time.
It wasn't fair to show them you were still around, and now, alive again. You couldn't possibly know what to say to them, how to explain what had happened.
What if they asked how you died? It's not like it was reported properly in the news. A tragic accident, they had said. A pitiful excuse to cover up a horrible event, driven solely by a slip of the tongue insult and misunderstanding. All covered up due to the family having money. It made you sick.
What if they asked how you were alive again? You weren't going to explain the Afterlife to them.
Astrid's words pulled you from your spiraling thoughts, forcing you back into reality. You sat in the beanbag chair in the corner of her room, chewing on the end of your thumbnail, an anxious habit you picked up when you were alive.
"Are you alright?"
"Hm? Yeah, sorry. what were you saying?" You smiled, hopingly convincing as you brought your attention back to her. It seemed to work as she didn’t push for more information from you.
"I said, you must've been a real lady killer when you were alive."
"Not exactly, but your ex-boyfriend certainly was." You shrugged with that smug little grin you always had, your past anxiety beginning to fade with the change of subject. In response to this you get a pillow thrown at your head which you catch easily with a laugh. "I'm alive again and there's only one lady in my life, baby"
"You're always so cheesy" She blushed and turned her face away from you to hide it.
"You brought me back, now you get to deal with this in its full glory"
"And I'm happy to deal with it but you know we still have to go see your parents eventually"
You frowned and slid back in your seat; your body quickly being enveloped more by the beanbag chair. "I know, I just don't want to do it today"
“When do you want to?”
“Next century should be fine, I’ll squeeze it into my schedule”
Tumblr media
A week passed, with your continuous complaining every time the subject was brought up. Somehow, some way (with many kisses used as brides), you arrived in town with Astrid.
Your feet were dragging against the blacktop as you paced back and forth across the small street lined with country houses. You didn't live that far away from Astrid, only a few streets over, of course you did mention to her that you lived in the same town.
There wasn't much going on at the moment. A few kids playing ball in their yard, an older man getting his mail, a young woman walking her dog down the sidewalk next to them. Many of the people you knew from when you were alive had seemingly moved or forgotten about you all together since no one dared point out anything weird about you being there.
It wasn't until a car came careening down the street and almost hit you that you were knocked back to the present.
Astrid tackled you down to the grass. Clear concern making her eyes widen with fear.
“Damn, babe. You could be a linebacker” after your joke was ignored, only getting an exasperated sigh from her, you continued. "I forgot I was a fleshy now, can't just be hanging out in the middle of the street anymore" You tried again, letting out a weak laugh. Your hands found their place on her hips to steady her instinctively.
Sitting up, you readjusted her to straddle your hips, so you were both more comfortable sitting on the grass. You got some odd looks from the surrounding strangers, not because of your current position, but because of your surprising lack of concern about almost getting hit by oncoming traffic.
She noticed your change of attitude right away and frowned. "We don't have to go today if you don't want to"
"I want to see them, I just don't know what to say. People can actually see me now. How can I explain to anyone what we went through or how I'm back"
"Just say you faked your death. Simple, easy"
"Faked my death and stayed the same age?" You quipped easily.
"Alright fine, just improvise. You're usually good at that"
You sighed before gently removing her from your lap and standing up completely. She took your hand and began walking down the street with you properly. “Do you want to go alone? I could stay behind if it’s too much for you”
Giving her hand a squeeze, you shook your head. “No, I need you there” Your blatant honest response shocked her into silence, not knowing how to respond to that and instead just remaining by your side quietly. Content.
Tumblr media
Standing outside of your childhood home brought back a lot of memories, stopping you in your tracks as you looked it over cautiously.
Chipped teal paint lined the outside walls, yellowed lining that was previously eggshell white (as your mother corrected you many, many times) rested around the windows and front door. The deck creaked as the wind passed by in a particularly harsh gust.
The proper upkeep had clearly been neglected, and it saddened you to think what disrepair your parents must be going through to disregard something that meant so much to them.
This was their dream house, a place to raise their child together in happiness. That all changed the day you died, unbeknownst to you. Their world came crashing down without warning.
Before your mind wandered too far, you forced yourself to look towards your girlfriend, who stood at your side. She gave you that extra confidence to push forward and take on anything from world domination to simply saying hello to your parents again for the first time in forever. As always, her attention was on you but quickly diverted once she spotted your neighbor's house.
Not commenting on it, you walked up the rickety wooden steps to the front door and rang the doorbell. Anxiety plagued your bones as the seconds ticked by. A shuffle of feet was heard beyond the door along with muffled conversation.
The door swung open to reveal your mother, feet clad in puffy pink slippers, torso wrapped snugly in that fleece robe that used to make your skin itch every time you hugged her as a child.
Her head tilted up to regard you with a kind smile. Ever so slowly, that smile melted away, brow creased with confusion as recognition registered in her mind.
“Y/n?” The fragility of the word broke your heart, disbelief lacing her tone.
From behind her came a rougher voice, more gravelly as he walked up to the doorway to see what his wife was so stunned about. “Why would you say their na-oh”
You managed a shaky smile, vision blurring as watery tears threatened to spill over. “Hey” you spoke softly, afraid to break the fizzing tension in the air. The world grew quiet behind you, completely focused on what was happening inside.
Your home smelled of cinnamon, and you knew for a fact that your mother’s famous pie was baking in the oven. The coo-coo clock that contained a broken bluejay, left wing bent to the side, stood proudly against the far wall, the same rustic blue it had always been. The infernal noise that used to keep you up in the middle of the night was ringing out, signaling the start of a new hour. A noise you now realized you missed dearly.
Your father stood with his arms crossed over his chest, worn overalls over a plaid button up. His glasses rested against the middle of his nose, stubbornly lying against the indented skin from years of use.
His expression was as mysterious as always, hardly readable. It was difficult for him to look anything but stoic. You picked up on the slight twitch at the corner of his mouth, the only indication of emotion that he gave. “How..” the word was said under his breath, almost going unnoticed.
The woman in-front of you enveloped you in an immediate hug without uttering another word, interrupting her husband’s confusion. Her arms wrapped around your waist, her cheek smushed against your chest from the force of the impact. You stumbled back a bit from shock before returning the embrace. Your head rested atop hers as the tears finally fell.
Your chest burned with so many emotions; you had trouble counting them all. It had been far too long since you’ve felt them so fiercely. Fear-Sadness-but most of all Guilt.
Guilty that after all of these years, you wished you fought harder to stay alive back then, not realizing how crushed your parents were after losing you.
Those days staying awake at night thinking that everyone would be fine without you were dismissed immediately. You were their world, their pride and joy. How could you think like that when that was never the case?
She pulled away after a moment, once her breathing returned to normal. Her mascara pooled around her waterline and her hand flew up quickly to wipe it away. “Oh! Please, come in”
It seemed that she only now realized Astrid behind you. “You too, dear.”
Both of you walked through the door, your father taking a step backwards in order to make room, still hesitant to believe this wasn’t a sick and twisted joke. He didn’t say a word as he headed towards the kitchen, disappearing around the corner.
Both you and Astrid joined your mother in the living room. For the first time in a long time, you saw something shining in your mother's eyes. Hope.
"How did this happen?" She spoke up, hands resting neatly together on her lap as she looked between you.
"Uh...It's complicated" You uttered, trying to think of something quickly. "My girlfriend, Astrid, She's a... witch"
The woman across from you raised a curious eyebrow, about to comment when the oven alarm went off and she quickly excused herself to get it.
Astrid turned to stare at you, utterly horrified by your answer. "I just accepted the existence of ghosts, but I draw the line at witches!"
"Oh, come on, you have to believe in witches, like the Salem Witch trials, you know?"
"Those women and men were falsely accused simply because of jealousy and paranoia! It was a time of idiocy and unfair patriarchy. I do not believe in witchcraft, Y/N!"
Your smirk confused her for a moment before you leaned in closer to whisper. "You're hot when you talk about your history stuff, you know that?"
Tumblr media
After explaining to your mother how things really happened, and two whole hours of going back and forth about the paranormal, you were able to excuse yourselves to your room while dinner was being made. Your parents always knew about your ability to talk to the deceased, but never asked anything beyond that. They always believed that if it didn’t hurt anyone, it wasn’t their concern.
Your room was exactly the same as you had left it. Bedsheets slightly messy from when you'd tripped over them, rushing to get to school that morning. The alarm on your bedside table hadn't woken you up on time.
Clothes were strewn across the floor from searching for something to wear. Looking down at your clothes now, a new t-shirt courtesy of Astrid, you couldn't help but smile at how far you came since then.
The only difference in your old bedroom was a surprising lack of dust. Not an ounce of it covered any surface around you, which you assumed was thanks to your mother. Always meticulous and tidy but couldn't bear to move anything you had touched on your last day alive.
Band posters plastered half-hazardly on the wall above your bed, the edges pealing from time. The same three books you used to read religiously laid atop of your mahogany desk. Stephen King and Edgar Allan Poe, the famous names scrawled on the hard covers, just barely visible underneath a dark jean jacket that was thrown there last minute in your rush.
You walked into your room slowly with Astrid close behind you, not saying a word. Afraid that if by breathing too hard, you would blow away the delusion of perfect stillness.
"Wow..." it came out whispered. You ran your fingertips along your wall, feeling every little ridge underneath the old paint. It didn't seem real, but at the same time it felt like you never left.
"I can't believe they kept everything"
"Why not?"
"I just... thought they would've packed everything up by now, thrown it into boxes and shove it up in the attic. I died a long time ago. Thought they'd let the past be in the past and move on with their lives"
"You believed they would forget about you?" Astrid now stood Infront of you, hands gently holding onto your biceps to gain your attention. "They love you, why would that just go away after you died?"
Swallowing a lump in your throat, you decided to lie through your teeth, voice weak. "I dont know"
She broke away with a scoff. "How about you tell me how you really feel for once?"
"I don't know what you're talking about, babe. I just... assumed, that's all"
"You assumed wrong, and I don't want to hear you talk like that about yourself."
Distracting yourself so you didn't have to reply to what was certainly going to be a sappy conversation with your girlfriend, you moved over to open your closet where an old box of records laid abandoned.
Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, all the way to Linkin Park. A real treasure trove of records that you used to listen to daily, much to your father's annoyance. Every time you were feeling down, the music made you feel like you could exist outside of your everyday life. Away from the disappointments and judgement.
All of your material possessions destined to sit alone without you thanks to your one fatal flaw. You had a big mouth. Sure, you were relatively quiet when you were at school, or around people you didn’t care to talk to, but that didn't stop you from defending those who needed it most. You tended to talk too much, especially when nervous or in that particular instance, angry. Bullying was something you would never just stand by and let happen.
A small slip of the tongue, an insult thrown in the wrong direction, to someone far stronger than you were. Then it was over too soon for you to count, just as soon as you were away, alone from prying eyes.
Death never worried you, never scared you like it had with so many others. It fascinated you, and, in a way, you invited it. Anticipated it. But it was shocking nonetheless when you joined the world of the deceased.
Looking up from the records, your gaze drifted over to your girlfriend. The one person who hadn't given up on you, the one who brought you back to life even if you felt like you weren't worthy of it. She showed you love, picked you up and saved you from those bad thoughts.
If it weren't for the misunderstanding at the cemetery, you never would have imagined being happy again. Being in love.
Astrid stood eerily still, looking through your window. Silently observing your neighbor's yard.
"Everything alright over there?" You asked and got up from the ground where you unknowingly sat down to thumb through your old memories. After dusting off your pants you joined her and saw what she was looking at.
"I didn't know you lived so close to...him" She spit out angrily, not turning to look at you.
"Oh, yea. We used to be good friends before he went all slasher horror psychopath, you know? We used to exchange albums and listen to them in that old treehouse"
She didn't respond, so you continued explaining. "You know, he even gave me a box of cockroaches for my 7th birthday."
"Ew, why?"
You laughed. "He liked collecting bugs at one point, and he knew I thought they were gross. He did it as a prank, but it was disgusting"
Astrid scrunched her nose with a shake of her head. "Probably did some weird Dr. Frankenstein experiments on them."
Offering a shrug in response, you smirked. "Luckily for you, you got an upgrade when you decided to date me instead"
---
Flashback
Jeremy defended you when you were both very young, saving you from a group of rowdy kids after one of them had thrown a basketball directly at your face. He chased them down the street to get them away.
Your nose was broken, blood streaming down past your lips as your eyes welled with tears.
"Are you alright?" He asked and took off his flannel that was previously tied around his waist. You were both just five years old at the time. The ends of his sleeves were soaked from dangling in puddles. You used the fabric to wipe away at your nose anyway, wincing at the sharp sting.
"Come with me" He took your hand and led you both to the treehouse, climbing up the ladder to sit in the corner, with you mirroring him in the one across from him. With knees pulled up to your chest, you didn't say much to him, only offering a small smile.
He put on a David Bowie record that he stole from his father, both of you sitting in silence.
You ended up going back there every evening after that, finally opening up to him and telling him your name. Surprisingly to him, you could talk a lot when you wanted to.
He was your very first friend after moving to that dreaded town.
---
One day he changed, sometime while you were early teenagers. You didn't ask, too afraid to pry. He was more paranoid, easily irritated, and the last thing you wanted was for that to be directed at you.
He just didn't act like he used to, and you ended up growing apart, going different ways.
"He got really creepy towards the end. Wanted to know everything about ghosts and how they worked. Looking back on it, I get it now"
"I can't believe you were friends with him"
"I can't believe you dated him!" Your sudden laugh caught her off guard, an embarrassed blush rushing to cover her cheeks. "That dude was weirder than I was."
Tumblr media
The cemetery was louder than usual. Men chatting as they dug up a grave, a now empty coffin, out of the ground from six feet under. Your tombstone stared back at you, and you smiled.
It wasn't sad like your normal walks, it was enlightening. Astrid sat beside you on the stone bench, watching the scene unfold.
"So, what's it like to be alive again?"
"Being alive always kind of...sucked. Now it might be better this time around"
You turned your attention to her and smiled softly, genuinely. “Why’d you bring me back?”
The sudden question caught her off guard, expecting a more playful one like usual. Instead you looked at her with something else, hope, sincerity. Clarity.
“Because no one deserves to die young.” She paused and blushed. “I might be pretty biased, but I especially believe that you didn’t deserve that.”
“It is pretty biased. It’s from my good looks, isn’t it?” You clicked your tongue, shaking your head in mock disappointment.
"You're also pretty funny…sometimes" It was her turn to tease you and you loved the playful attitude you brought out of her.
"I am funny, aren't I?" You laughed, but it wasn't like the other times. There was no joke behind your words, no self-deprecation. It was filled with truth, no sarcasm. It made Astrid proud.

A/N: PLEASE let me know your feedback from the cuddling scene, I know it's not the best but I'm trying to add more romance to my writing and make it seem more natural. Intimacy is something I struggle with in my everyday life, so I would appreciate the criticism. Thank You <3
Finally!! It is finished. So, so sorry for the long wait. I’m not good with happy endings haha. Also, yes, I did change it from 12 years to 22 years so it would fit into the story better, you are not crazy. Thank you for reading!

"I didn't comment on a fic I liked because I don't think the author would care or remember my comment anyway". fanfic writer here, I still remember comments I got on my fics from seven years ago. I still think about them and they still make me smile. your kind comments are what motivates us and what helps us keep writing.
I personally know writers who take screenshot and print out comments they got from their readers.
TL;DR comments matter to us writers more than you think. if you like a fanfic, never be shy to let the author know ♡

I have a question for fellow fanfic writers. How do you portrait reader’s personality?
Do you base it off of your own, switch it up every time or just go with whatever would fit the love interest best? I always have a hard time giving the reader a set personality if I don’t base it off of myself but at the same time I know every person is different so I try to be inclusive and different sometimes.
PLEASE give me your input, I want to improve my writing 🙏🏻

Good news! The Henry Danger fic will hopefully be finished soon, I am almost done with it. I had to rewrite a few parts of it but I’m back on track.
In addition to this, I have also started writing the final part of An Accidental Haunting and the Dwayne x Half!Vampire!Reader that was requested.
Thank you to all of you for being patient 🙏🏻
If anyone would like to drop some facts from the 1940s or early Harry Potter lore in the comments, I would greatly appreciate it! I’ve been trying to do more research before doing the next part of the Tom Riddle x Reader fic!

I have some good news! Since it’s 2am and that’s when I do my best writing, I am happy to report that I’ve written about half of a fic already and it should be ready for you guys shortly.
Now you may be asking yourself “is it one of the fics we have been waiting for??” And the answer to that is,, no. But is it one of the fics I said I’d write if I got an idea just to give you guys content? It is.
It’s a Henry danger x reader fic that probably no one wants but you shall receive it anyway. Hopefully by finishing this, it will give me motivation to continue the other things I was working on.
Just a heads up since it will appear out of the blue and it’s not even on my writing list.
Ok thank you for understanding, now I shall try to go to sleep. Good night everyone.

First off, I’ve been gone for a little bit. So Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to everyone.
I haven’t really been on a writing kick for a bit but I’ve finally realized that I need to put myself and mental health first. I’ve neglected to cherish the body I was given and it’s weighed on me a lot over the years.
Finally I decided to start doing better by myself, and making myself happier and healthier so that is what I’m doing, but I apologize for my absence.
Second, I do plan to continue writing. I have everything in my drafts BUT I also decided to just start writing those random one off fan fictions that make themselves known in my brain. So every time I think “what if I wrote this”, I’m going to try and write it down for you all. It’s going to random, just a heads up.
If you expected a different fic, like the ones I promised, they are still on the way.
And lastly, I may have a fully fledged out fanfiction for Jason Todd x Reader that I’ve been putting together for a hot minute but it does rely on a LOT of background info that I just,, need you guys to rock with me on. It’s not an oc situation but I got a fully fledged out story for the reader including multiverses and shit. So I NEED you to seriously hear me out on it, ok? I promise it will be good. The vision is there.
This playlist also helped motivate me to write for my boy Jason so I recommend it. Credit to the rightful owner. (If they’re on here and see this let me know and I’ll credit you properly)
Jason Todd playlist
Okok Love you all, Thank you

If there was a way to extract the full fanfiction prompts from my mind at the ripe hour of 2am and write them down for me, you would all be given so much more content than you are getting now.
But that’s no excuse because I know I have to write it all out myself sadly. 😅 I’m working on it, but then all of a sudden I’ll get new characters in my mind that no one asked for and I’ll be like,, what if?

PLEASE HELP
That sounds so much more urgent than it really is, I'm sorry. But if anyone can find that one gif on the titans walking into the titan's tower (from the HBO series), PLEASE send it to me. For some reason it has vanished from the face of this earth. I'm trying to add the titans to my request list currently, but every gif of the titans together never includes Jason and it's pissing me off.

This blog has officially reached 100 (+) Followers!!
You have no idea how much this means to me. I cherish each and every one of you. When I started writing a few short months ago I never expected to receive any attention at all really.
As a result of 20+ people following me just based on Dc Titans, I am happy to announce that they have officially been added to my list for requests!
Tumblr media
For the near future I will be coming out with the following fics (in no particular order):
-Dwayne x Half-Vampire!Reader (The Lost Boys)- A casual night with Dwayne after being turned.
Fluff, Comfort, very high chance of the other boys being annoying but that's a given REQUESTED
-Dick Grayson X Vigilante/Titans!Reader (DC Titans)- Reader doesn't believe Dick when he reveals his feelings for them due to his past relationship history. He goes out of his way to try and prove that he's a better person than he was.
Frenemies to Lovers type vibes, Reader acts like an asshole throughout but its lowkey warranted. Fluff with probably just a splash of Angst.
-Astrid Deetz x Gn!Reader (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice)- The final part of An Accidental Haunting, which features little shenanigans that the couple now goes through, now that the reader is alive again.
Just pure teeth rotting Fluff. Reader being a dumbass, as per usual. Flirty reader and also Reader who forgets they're alive now and almost gets themselves k*lled. REQUESTED
-Poly!The Lost Boys x Ghost!Reader (The Lost Boys)- This fic is still stumping me but I'm trying my damn hardest to make this decent enough to post. Poly relationships have always made me a little uncomfortable for personal reasons. (No hate to anyone who is in a Poly relationship, reads about them, prefers them etc.) I don't want to let down the people who are looking forward to it though, so I appreciate the patience.
-Dennis Rafkin X Ghost!Reader (13 Ghosts 2001)- Part 2 of my self-indulgent fic that I am extremely excited to write.
Angst, Hurt and Comfort, Enemies to Lovers (Kind of)
-Tom Riddle X Fem!Reader (Harry Potter)- Chapter 2 where I will be getting more into the story aspect and less of the background information. I'm very sorry that it's taken a while for me to write it, but I promise it is on my to-do list. I am currently doing some research to make the story somewhat more accurate.
-Ryan Kuhn ("The Jackal" from 13 Ghosts 2001)- 13 Ghosts backstory fic loosely based off of the snippet of information that was provided by the 2001 movie. I desperately feel like there was a missed opportunity for a spin off based on the ghost's past lives and their capture by Cyrus. I'm going to do it myself through fanfiction, because I can.
This one will also have many warnings beforehand and I will sat it now, as well as when I write the story. I DO NOT support the character's behavior, nor do I condone any of his actions. Again, this is a character and not a real person, but the point remains.
Tumblr media
I will not blame my inactivity when it comes to writing based solely on my depression, but it is a big factor at the end of the day. This milestone does give me a huge boost of confidence to continue writing and that is exactly what I plan on doing. Thank you all very, VERY much.

i’m getting that itch again — the itch to psychoanalyse that character™️ by writing yet another fic about him, the irresistible urge to unravel his layers, pull him apart piece by piece, lay him bare under a microscope, inspect him from every angle and piece him back together in the form of a fic — it’s equal parts compulsion and catharsis at this point
