best stiles/derek fics (personally)

i've read a ton of stiles/derek fics on ao3, even if i've never watched the show. yet among the thousands of fanfics there, only a few jumped up to me in some way, and they are:

Home by TheTypewriterGirl

this one is the best. it changes quite a lot about canon, making it way less complicated. i re-read it in 4 days, and i cried in every single one, because it's so fucking emotional. probably one of the best stories i've ever read in my life, i wish i had it as a book on my shelf.

there are also its companion pieces, "A Little After Midnight, January First" and "Raising Home", and while they are sweet to read, they aren't essencial to enjoying Home. Raising Home is a LONG one, and it has some moments that made me tear up.

Stilinski's Home for Wayward Wolves by owlpostagain

i love how it imagines everything happening if stiles were never there to get involved in all the supernatural shit. the character's dynamics are very nice and seem very natural to me, the plot is interesting and it doesn't rush things. very well paced.

integral to survival by placeholdr (only available to registered users)

short but interesting. it's all about stiles and derek's interactions, kind of hurt/comfort in a way, and overall just a pretty nice read!

what's nice about all of these is that none of them have sexual content, which usually makes me quite uncomfortable when we're talking about sterek.

it’s so sad to go reread a fanfiction you read years ago, one that you remember really enjoying, only to have to come to terms with the fact that it actually isn’t so good :(

i have to say that i finished reading The Song of Achilles yesterday.

and i could not take it.

i cried my eyes out, i sobbed, i whined and i couldn’t breathe.

it broke me, especially because the beginning of it all was so… happy. they were the happier they would ever be, and i wanted it to stay that way, even though i already knew about Achille’s fate, i still hoped.

i might be a little too soft honestly, but even if you didn’t cry you have to agree that it was kind of heartbreaking.

i definitely would recommend it to others. at least if you’re into a little bit of greek mythology.

man, i hated everything from the moment THAT happened up until this very scene.

then i remembered when Patroclus ran away to follow Achilles when he left to meet Chiron.

Achilles waited for Patroclus then. and he did the same after, in the after-life.

here i was watching some people make stuff (like wood tables and cabins) and... now i really want to read Turn, by SarasGirl, again.

i’m trying not to, because it is so extensive, although its length isn’t really the problem, but i think i’m loosing the fight.

and finally — The Trials of Apollo. this is how much i liked each book, from my favourite to least favourite.

i love apollo. and i really like his arrogant, god personality, but the first two books almost made me stop reading the series, they weren’t very good.

i only decided to read The Burning Maze because of Grover, and to see how spoiler happened. you know what i’m talking about. thankfully, the third book made me fall in love with the series, and from then on i started to truly enjoyed ToA. and i cried in the last book, because it deserved my tears.

my personal ranking for Heroes of Olympus, from my favourite to my least favourite book:

5. The Lost Hero

I love TSoN so much and it is so sad that it seems to be one of the reader’s least favourite. i enjoyed it almost as much as i enjoyed The House of Hades.

The Blood of Olympus disappointed me. now, i absolutely adored Reyna’s and Nico’s pov, but i felt like the chapters for the Argo II quest were lacking. i expected much, much more.

The Lost Hero is…not great. switching povs every two chapters made the story feel very choppy. we didn’t have time to get to know Leo, Piper and Jason properly before it all changed and we were in a completely different situation. too hectic.

but i have to say some things: the fourth and fifth books are my favourites and i can’t really decide which one is the best. their position can switch anytime.

So. I’ve already mentioned here I was looking for some new otps and that I was trying for Jercy (Percy Jackson/Jason Grace). Unfortunatey, most of the works on this pairing are not really good (as in: they are mainly porn or just not very well written), and i was almost giving up on trying to find good ones when i came across this one. This one is something very... unique? I mean, there are other fics about Pirates and that stuff, but this one was definitely more enjoyable than any other I’ve ever read. It does a good job of working with the Greek Mythology and PJO and HoO’s characters, even though we don’t really see the others beside Jason and Percy much. It is very neat. 9/10. I wish it was longer, though.

So, i read this fic yesterday and i absolutely loved it. i was trying out new couples to ship and came across Percy/Jason, and so i thought: “why not? i really need a new otp.” and this appeared to me. it’s disguntingly cute and fun to read, and i caught myself grinning like a loon so many times i’d be embarassed if someone saw it. can’t say i really ship jercy but this work is 9,5/10.

(it’s an AU with none of the magical stuff. thought i wouldn’t like it, and yet...)

So clearly this is just a rough sketch, but my photoshop froze and I didn’t save the high res version with the layers because I am DUMB and painting over the sketch wasn’t working so…sadness. But I still like the idea of it, so I’m posting it as is.
