"I get that this life of mine is bereft of your presence, but then my heart doesn't know any other way to live."

You were sitting at your desk looking through another case file. Your eyes were starting to burn at this point. Ugh… God, you hated divorce cases, especially the ones with kids in them.
Just terrible… Both of the parents were clearly neglectful in their own ways—the problem was, who was the kid going to go with? It could unnecessarily complicate everything.
If you were being honest, you didn’t want the kid to go with either of the parents, but everyone knows just how great foster care is, and it’s not like your personal feelings matter. You were just doing your job.
The sound of nails tapping against your desk broke you out of your thoughts. You glanced up to see your friend and coworker, Madison. There was a smile on her face, a slight pitiful look in her eyes as she looked down at your hunched figure.
“Hey, Giggles. It’s almost lunch... Do you want to go grab a bite, or are you going to sulk all day, staring at that file?” She asked, gesturing for you to hurry up with her finger as she stood, leaning on your desk, waiting for you. “Up, come on.”
“Just a second.” You said, opening the notes app on your phone. Your fingers type quick words because of habit.
It’s been a tiring day today, Caleb. I’m going to go get lunch with Madison.
You wrote in your notes app. You couldn’t let go of that habit you had built up. Writing down mundane everyday events as if Caleb could still see and reply back.
How long has it been again? Around 4 years now…?
You sighed, getting up from your chair and fixing your shirt. “Let’s go…” You said, walking beside her.
Giggles, that’s what she called you. You both had properly met in your last year of college. Even though you shared classes, neither of you got around to talking to each other before. The conversations between you never ended without your laughter filling the space around you, earning you that nickname.
You were both lucky enough to get into a good and the same law firm in the city. Honestly, things had been much better with her around. Her presence helped your heart glue the broken pieces you had picked up yourself.
Both of your steps fell into synched paces as you walked beside each other; the sound of chatter, heels clicking, and typing of keys filled your ears until her voice forced its way inside your head. “There’s going to be a mock trial in a few days. Are you playing a part in it?” She asked, earning a shrug from you.
“No, not really. I’d rather watch; it’s interesting to see. I can learn something from watching. Besides, I doubt I can play the part of a money-hungry CEO.”
“Fair enough… Did you hear about the Honor Oil scandal?”
“The money laundering…? Yeah, allegedly there is a lot of hush money passed around. The CEO might just lose the company if he is not careful.”
“Is that case assigned to someone in our firm?” You asked, turning your head to look up at Madison.
“Nope, it's Smiths and Devane. It’s a shame, really; I would’ve loved to know more about it behind the scenes.” She said as you both stepped inside the elevator, pressing the button of the ground floor.
Neither of you said anything, hearing the small ding of the elevator, watching the door open. You both walked out of the elevator and out of the firm.
You sat down in front of Madison, sitting in the small café near the law firm you worked at. Quickly giving your orders, you just stared at Madison. There was something going on.
Madison was never this quiet… And it seemed like you spoke too soon before her green eyes caught yours and a sly smile formed on her face. “So, how do you like it in the firm so far…?”
The tone of her voice made you raise your eyebrows. Yep, something was definitely going on. “It’s alright… Just get to the point, Maddy.” You said, turning your head to look at the waitress who walked up to your table to serve your food. You gave her a smile and muttered a small ‘thank you,’ shifting your gaze to look at Madison.
“You know Spencer?” She asked, taking a sip of her coffee and looking at you with raised eyebrows. “Uh, yeah—he is very good with contracts and stuff, helpful guy.” You replied you felt like you knew where this was going.
“Well, he thinks you are cute and wanted me to give you his number if you want. He’s pretty nice, just a shy lad.” Madison said, looking up at you hopefully.
You knew the reason for that look in her eyes. Madison is a sweet woman; she is gorgeous and full of life. In the years you have known her, she’s been in relationships. And at one point, she probably didn’t want you to feel lonely watching from the sidelines. It was sweet, but no way you’d accept.
“Uh… that’s… thoughtful? I don’t know. I...just—it’s not…uh. I am not—“ You said, stumbling over your words. What do you even say, that you have a boyfriend who has no signs of existing?
“There is… someone I like, and I think it’s mutual… so you know.” You said, giving her a tight-lipped smile.
She reached her hand out, holding yours gently and giving you a smile. She understood and wouldn’t ask until you were ready.
It’s alright, sunshine. I can wait if you don’t want to tell me. You can take it at your own pace.
It’s best to keep things vague when it comes to dating. Besides, you said you’d wait, and you weren’t going to go back on your promise. You’ll wait forever if it means you’ll meet him at the end of time.
The next few days passed as a blur; somehow the only thing you were looking forward to was the mock court trial. It was a tense atmosphere in the mock trial, so fascinating to see how the mood kept changing instantly. This was supposed to be a quick trial, but everything was really dragging out.
You were trying to soak everything in when one of the receptionists walked inside the room and called for you. Apparently, there was someone looking for you.
Maybe it was a client or a member of their family... You’ll try and make it quick and easy for yourself, that is. These new cases were really stressing you out.
You took the elevator to the ground floor, glancing around the entrance. There were a few people there. One guy you had seen around the office, talking on his phone, and a few people talking to the receptionists.
There was also this guy… standing around near the couches with his back turned towards you.
He was really tall, with black hair, just standing around with his hands in his pockets. Wearing a leather jacket, black jeans, platform boots…? Just the way he stood reminds you so much of…
Caleb
You stood there for a few more seconds, the light metal chain around your neck feeling uncomfortably warm all of a sudden. You let out a shaky sigh, taking in a few breaths, trying to compose yourself.
Stop imagining things.
“Excuse me?” You said, walking over to him. Putting on your best professional smile you could muster up. The guy turned his head to look at you when he heard your voice, his warm brown eyes meeting yours, and it was as if the world stopped.
Maybe the world didn’t stop, but your mind certainly did—your smile fell as quickly as it appeared. You felt your knees growing weak the longer you stared at him.
Caleb Caleb Caleb Caleb Caleb
There was no way, right? You were just dreaming—your sick mind was just playing tricks on you. You didn’t want to believe it… you did want to believe it. You knew it was him. You just… you wouldn’t be able to handle it if the sound of an alarm woke you up like countless times before, when you had the solace of meeting him in your dreams.
“What… Are you surprised? Sure, it’s been a while, but you already forgot about me?” The pretty stranger asked, his voice shaking slightly as if he was trying to contain himself.
It was him; it was really him.
The voice you let out was almost inexplicable. Stepping towards him with shaky legs as you slowly wrapped your arms around him. Feeling his embrace. Your face was pressed against his chest, opening and closing your mouth as no words came out. Your mind is just trying to process it.
You could feel his arms around him, his cheek pressed against your hair, and his hand placed on the small of your back. The smell of his perfume clinging to the leather jacket—it was subtle but smelled good.
For three and a half years, you had forced yourself to live without him. Mourning his presence like a ghost. So far away, never in your sight but always in the back of your mind.
Now he was here… alive.
He was here.
“Oh god…” You choked out, tears streaming down your face as you buried your face in his shirt, staining the shirt with your tears—trying not to sob in the lobby of your office. He was here… Oh God, he was here.
It wasn’t a hallucination.
You weren't dreaming.
“Shh… It’s okay—I’m here now. Don’t cry, sunshine…” Caleb said, rubbing your back in small circles. “Can you take the rest of the day off, baby?”
You nodded without thinking; you could get Madison to cover your work today. Only a few hours were left, but you’d be able to go home.
You took your phone out of your pocket with shaky hands, tears blurring your vision as you felt Caleb’s hand wiping away your tears. You sniffled, quickly texting Madison.
Caleb was already looking at you when you turned to look at him. His hand wrapping around yours and leading you out of the law firm. He picked you up the second you stepped out of the firm.
“Caleb, what are you doing!?” You squealed, looking at him, and he just smiled back. “You weigh nothing to me, and I don’t care about what people think,” he said, knowing exactly what you would ask.
“Do you want to go back to your place?” He asked, and you nodded along. Before you could get another word out, he started walking. “I know how to drive, and I have a driving license, sweetie. You don’t need to worry.”
He always knew what to say, didn’t he?
“Mhm…” You just hummed in return. Leaning to put your head on his shoulder, shifting to nuzzle your face in the crook of his neck. You could feel his heartbeat. You wished this wasn’t a dream, but if the gods were playing games on you again and this was a dream, at least you could wish it would last a lifetime.

ʜᴏᴡ ᴛᴏ ꜱᴛᴜᴅʏ ʟɪᴋᴇ ʀᴏʀʏ ɢɪʟᴍᴏʀᴇ
1. Create a Diverse Reading List
Follow Rory’s example by reading widely. Include classics, contemporary works, and non-fiction. Some essentials from her reading list: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, 1984 by George Orwell, and Beloved by Toni Morrison.
Commit to reading a set number of books each month.
2. Take Detailed Notes
Rory was always prepared for class discussions and essays. Practice active listening during lectures and organize notes with key points, summaries, and questions to follow up on later.
Use tools like colored pens, highlighters, or apps like Notion to keep notes neat.
3. Plan Like a Pro
Use a planner or a digital calendar to keep track of assignments, deadlines, and study schedules. By staying organized, Rory balanced school and extracurriculars.
Break tasks into manageable chunks and prioritize daily.
4. Embrace the Library Life
Rory loved studying in libraries. Find a quiet, inspiring place to focus. If possible, study at different locations to keep it fresh.
Use library resources, like books and archives, for deeper learning.
5. Stay Curious and Research Deeply
Rory often went beyond what was required. If a topic interests you, research it further. Watch documentaries, read related articles, or discuss it with a mentor.
Take a “journalist’s approach” by asking thoughtful questions and seeking multiple perspectives.
6. Prioritize Academics
Rory always made school her priority. Dedicate specific hours each day to studying, reviewing notes, or working on projects. Stick to this schedule consistently.
Avoid procrastination by starting early and pacing yourself.
7. Practice Self-Reflection
Rory frequently evaluated her progress and adjusted her goals (e.g., transferring to Yale). Reflect on your performance and identify areas for improvement.
Keep a journal to track your academic and personal growth.
8. Find a Study Buddy or Mentor
Rory had Paris as a competitor and study partner. Find someone who can challenge and inspire you, whether it's a friend, mentor, or classmate.
Collaborate on projects or prepare for exams together.
9. Engage in Extracurricular Activities
Rory worked on the school newspaper, which honed her writing and time management skills. Join clubs, teams, or activities that align with your passions and boost your skills.
Look for opportunities that complement your academic interests.
10. Balance with Self-Care
Rory balanced hard work with fun, like movie nights and coffee breaks at Luke’s. Schedule time for relaxation and hobbies to avoid burnout.
Develop healthy habits: sleep well, eat nutritiously, and stay hydrated.
Remember be kind to yourself <3

@mayoigotokurousagi also asked for Sho, so here are my favorite of Sho's voicelines! He's a lil more chill--most of the excitement for him is because Leo's causing him trouble, so maybe there won't be as many since it's just him? (Spoiler: i still put nearly all of them, or it feels that way. . . .)
Also sorry this one took way longer haha i had to do some irl stuff and i was pretty tired too lol. . .may not get to the next ones for a few days since i have to wake up early tomorrow and i work double shifts all weekend. But i'll try and find time for it.
May 27th 2025, added the year 2 birthday lines!
Hello: (the first time the game is opened after that character is set as home screen NPC. Only happens once per day, unless the character is switched out and back.)
"Hey, good timing. You got a second?"
You've Got Mail: (whenever there's something in the inbox, usually Arena rewards)
"You got a message. Gonna check it or what?"
Default: (requires no affinity, has no time constraints)
"Here you go, Bonnie. Barbecue sandwiches, your favorite."
"Huh? Was that your stomach? You hungry?" ……?
"Pit's on again? I'm done with that already. They're all normies—what's the point?"
the word he uses for 'normie' here means 'commoner' lmao
"Yeah I got it, you want to train. You go ahead, I'll catch up."
"Did you just see a creep in a black mask over there? ...Nah, never mind. I'm hallucinating." ……
SO THIS LINE CONFUSED ME AT FIRST because it's always referred to as a blindfold by everyone else? HE'S TALKING ABOUT HYDE HYDE IS JUST STALKING HIM LMAO
Affinity 1: (between 5am and 11am)
"Too early... What's Leo doing today? Guess I'll text him."
if it's too early for you it's too early for Leo. But also I'm sure he's got something exciting or interesting planned. I like that we're immediately shown he wants to spend time with Leo even when he's tired haha
Affinity 2: (between 11am and 4pm)
"Freakin' sasquatch... Would it kill him to approve an R&R permit every once in a while?"
Affinity 3: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"Class? What's the point? It's all written in the textbooks—all you gotta do is memorize it."
Doesn't go to class because he's smart enough to memorize the contents of the textbook I guess! Plus he doesn't care as much about Real Missions so knowing how to do the hard stuff doesn't matter to him haha. . .plus first years probably don't learn as much that's not in the textbook too.
Affinity 4: (between 8pm and 5am)
"All right, time to go for a spin. C'mon, Bonnie."
Affinity 5: (between 8pm and 5am)
"(yawn) What time is it? Seriously? Damn, overslept."
Neither he nor Leo sleep at night lmao
Affinity 6: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"Huh, haven't ridden a skateboard since middle school but I guess I still have the muscle memory. Watch this, I'm gonna do a trick."
Affinity 7: (between 11am and 4pm)
"Nice, got an order. More demand than I thought. Getting Leo to make this app was a good call."
Leo has a line that references this one!
Affinity 8: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"What's Mido texting me for? come tot hr epuit... Pfft. What the hell is this, some kinda secret code?"
Ksvdhdisn Alan is adorable. . .i love technologically incompetent characters. Poor bby can't even text. . . . .
Affinity 9: (between 8pm and 5am)
"Shit, my whole body's killing me... Sparring five sets of fifteen rounds, are you kidding me? Mido's insane..."
Affinity 10: (between 10pm and midnight)
"What am I gonna do tomorrow... Got nothing on, guess I could go to class... That asshole's on the schedule. Pass."
Lmao 'i guess i could go to class--wait my brother's teaching one of them tomorrow? Fuck that then.'
Affinity 11: (between 5am and 11am)
"All right, that's the morning prep done. Guess I'll shower and go back to bed."
Affinity 12: (between 11am and 4pm)
"This? It's a fishing rod. Sometimes I catch and filet the fish myself. It's pretty easy, and it saves cash."
Fishing with Sho. . .sounds nice and chill. Also did the pc not recognize a fuckin fishing rod. . . .
Affinity 13: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"{PC}, there you are. I'm headed to the diner, could you come with and help me carry some stuff?"
Affinity 14: (between 5am and 11am)
"You think I look grumpy? The stream for the finals started at 3 AM, what do you want me to do about that? (yawn)" ……
Staying up late to watch a basketball game, much like Leo he does not go to bed until the sun's up ordinarily lmao
Affinity 15: (between 5am and 11am)
"Hey... Pfft. What are you panicking for? You need to be somewhere? Hop on—I'll give you a ride."
Affinity 16: (between 11am and 4pm)
"You hungry, {PC}? I made lunch, but Leo bailed on me, so I was just gonna eat it myself."
Sho: hey our boyfriend ditched me wanna have lunch with me
Affinity 17: (between 10pm and midnight)
"Last year I would've been in a club around this time. Leo was always getting in fights though, so we got banned from almost every joint in Shibuya."
Menace boyfriend Leo lmao
Affinity 18: (between 8pm and 5am)
"{PC}, black or white? I'm trying to choose some packaging for the food truck, what'd you think I meant? ...I'll keep it in mind, anyway."
Affinity 19: (between 10pm and midnight)
"Geez, it's pretty late. Wait there—I'll give you a ride back."
Affinity 20: (between 5am and 11am)
"Seriously, it's way too early for this... What? I'm going to class. You're the one who wouldn't shut up about it."
Ordinarily doesn't go to class(a lot of them don't tbh, and Luca says the classes are elective so the ghouls probably don't have to) but will go if you want him to I guess! Leo's gonna call him whipped but Leo already knows he's whipped because he's the one who's been whipping him--
Affinity 21: (between 11am and 4pm)
"I've finally got the hang of running this food truck. I want to thank you for helping me out—think of something you want."
Affinity 22: (between 4pm and 8pm)
"Huh? No, I don't really need any help today... You don't have to make excuses to hang out with me, you know. Just ask."
"senpai, why don't you just tell me honestly if you wanna be with me?" Is the Japanese here I think and. idk i love that. He's catching on and teasing you a little.
Affinity 23: (between 8pm and 5am)
"What time you planning on heading home, {PC}? Anytime's fine for me. You can stay over if you want."
Affinity 24: (between 10pm and midnight)
"Can't sleep? Come over here—I'll warm you up. Pfft... I was kidding, don't get mad."
WERE YOU KIDDING THO. WERE YOU? KINDA HIGH AFFINITY TO JOKE LIKE THAT. AND YOU JUST SAID THEY COULD STAY OVER IF THEY WANTED. . .CHOOSE YOUR WORDS CAREFULLY SHOHEI
Affinity 25(max): (no time constraints)
"Here, this helmet's for you. I got some time today, so I'll take you somewhere. Anywhere you wanna go."
Spring: (March-May) (between 5am and 11am)
"Forget it, I can't keep my eyes open. Wake me when it's noon."
(between 11am and 4pm)
"Pretty warm out lately, huh? Bet it's already snorkeling season in Okinawa. I used to go pretty often."
He plays basketball, he skateboards, he fishes, he snorkels, this bitch loves sports lol
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"This? It's chirashizushi. Cuts are pretty chic, right? The idea came to me when I was over in Hotarubi."
Chirashizushi is sushi ingredients cut into small pieces and scattered over sushi rice! It comes in a lot of variation and isn't always made with raw fish like you might expect sushi to be.
(between 8pm and 5am)
"If I can get an R&R permit granted, I want to go for a solo ride. Haven't been for ages, and riding through the cherry blossoms this time of year feels awesome."
Summer: (June-August) (between 5am and 11am)
"Damn, I'm melting here... I need a haircut. Nah I don't need a barber, I just do it myself. 'Course I'm serious."
Sho really knows a little about everything huh. He cuts his own hair, he memorizes textbooks, he plays every sport, he can cook. . .is there anything Sho can't do? In his character story he even says he played guitar for a little while but hasn't done it lately, so music is probably within his wheelhouse too.
(between 11am and 4pm)
"Sweating my ass off over here... It's been like a year since I last played basketball. Mido's core's gotta be made of steel... Oh, is that water for me? Thanks."

(between 8pm and 5am)
"Leo won't shut up about wanting to let off fireworks, but no way am I doing that shit with him again. I'm sure you can guess why."
wtf was Leo doing with the fireworks that Sho decided he's never settijng off fireworks with him again. . .was he just pointing them at him lmao. Leo also has a line referencing this!
Autumn: (September-November) (between 5am and 11am)
"Yesterday when I was fishing in the river I saw this guy who looked like one of the Frostheim ghouls out there. Can't have been though, right?"
which one. . .i mean if it was Luca he was probably training, but if it was Kaito. . .idk what Kaito would be doing out in the river by himself. . .I know it wasn't Jin but if it was Tohma maybe it was some official business. . .? Or, y'know, spy stuff. . . .
(between 11am and 4pm)
"Geez, don't pipe up outta the blue like that. ...What? You gotta a problem with me reading a book?"
sho has been saying like this entire time 'yeah i read and memorize the textbooks instead of going to class' how is the pc so shocked to see him ACTUALLY READING. Then again, i also wouldn't think he's a hobby reader. . .on the other hand he's got like every hobby he can get his hands on, so it makes sense.
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"Pfft... Hey, {PC}. Come over here. Geez, what're you doing walking around with a leaf in your hair?"
(between 8pm and 5am)
"Scariest Ghost Videos to Fuel Your Nightmares... I asked a buddy for some good videos to kill the time, and he sent me this..."
it's hard to tell based on his expression how he feels about this lol
i wonder if he's not really into horror stuff or it makes him feel uneasy after the PC got attacked by Takeru?
Winter: (December-February) (between 5am and 11am)
"I get more delivery orders on cold days... It's a pain in the ass, but I guess I'll just wear an extra layer..."
(between 11am and 4pm)
"Damn, I really wanna go snowboarding. I used to go every year before I ended up here... Think they got a good slope in Frostheim?"
I bet they do I mean rich people would wanna go skiing now and then right? It's just a matter of would they let a vagastromer use them. . .then again what're they gonna do, stop him?
(between 4pm and 8pm)
"Huh? I'm looking at a catalog. I could serve hot food if I had an electric pot. I'm thinking about it." ……
this makes it sound like his food isn't served hot lol to my understanding he does make everything in advance, not on the spot but i assume he means like. hot-hot. like soups for the winter kind of thing. he should do it! serve up some new england clam chowder.
(between 8pm and 5am)
"I'm freezing my ass off... I just saw Mido walk past in a T-shirt. Are his nerve endings dead?"
Apparently I'm Alan lmao i too experience less cold than other people
His birthday (Year 1): (August 19th)
"What, you're gonna celebrate my birthday? What do I want for a present? Hmm... I'll take you. Just kidding."
Y'KNOW I'M SURE THEY WOULDN'T MIND IF YOU WEREN'T KIDDING THO YOU ARE VERY POPULAR then again based on his valentine's day dialogue he knows that lol
His birthday (Year 2): (August 19th)
"You got me a present? Wow, thanks. Oh yeah, you free after this?"
Your birthday (Year 1):
"Know what this is, {PC}? Yep—an R&R permit. Today's your birthday, right? So, where are we going?"
I'm beginning to suspect that he heavily values freedom and being able to go where he wants and do what he wants. That includes taking you wherever you wanna go. Even at max affinity he has the same response--'we're going somewhere, anywhere you want.' At max affinity he doesn't mention an R&R permit--which suggests he doesn't care if you get in trouble going out, as long as you actually get to go out. One of the first things we see him talking about relating to Darkwick is asking Leo if he regrets going--I think Sho regrets it. He can't leave whenever he wants, even though he's one of the top students as far as grades, he's more restricted in what he's allowed to do and when. . .so I think these offers to drive you anywhere in total freedom are his ways of showing you what means the most to him. Just. . .being able to do whatever, whenever. I think that's also part of why he likes Leo so much. Leo doesn't let himself be restricted either. Leo gets into fights and into trouble and Sho complains about it but he understands the liberation. Sho wants to see that unrestricted you, I think. Even if it isn't anything extreme, even if it isn't anything exciting. He wants to see what you're like out of Darkwick's cage. So he'll take you on little joyrides into freedom. Show him where you go and what you do when no one's there to stop you.
Your birthday (Year 2):
"Here, this is for you. Pfft… What's with the face? You said you wanted one, didn't you? Happy birthday."
He's just such a thoughtful thug haha like. now that he knows you, now that he's spent time with you, he knows exactly what you like, remembers all the things you said you wanted. . . .
New Years: (January 1st)
"What'd I wish for at midnight? For this year to be peaceful... Not that any gods are listening out for us."
Well when you've been chosen by demons. . .yeah, you're probably not on the good side of many gods.
Valentine's Day: (February 14th)
"Yeah, these are all the chocolates I got. No idea how I'm gonna get through them all... So? You didn't get me anything?"
I'm surprised Leo's wasn't similar to this tbh. Like, Leo's an influencer, why didn't he mention getting a metric fuckton of valentine's day chocolate? I'm happy Sho's loved by the students tho haha.
White Day: (March 14th)
"Baking sweets and cooking are totally different. It's not really in my wheelhouse, but... here. My firsts. Thanks for the chocolates."
THE FIRST TIME HE EVER BAKED AND IT'S FOR YOU what a sweetheart. considering how good he is at just about everything i'm sure they came out just fine
April Fool's Day: (April 1st)
"Hey, it's snowing outside. Wait, guess that's not so unlikely in this place... I used to get duped by that one all the time when I was a kid."
we found the one thing he's not good at! pulling pranks!
Halloween: (October 31st)
"You really need an explanation? Leo made me wear it! Shit, why am I always the girl..."
Your boyfriend best friend makes you crossdress for him on Halloween on a yearly basis. . .and you do it!!!
Christmas: (December 25th)
"Sorry for making you help me prep all these roast chicken orders... Wanna do something Christmassy together once we're done?"
Christmas is often considered a holiday spent with a lover in Japan to my understanding. . .what are you suggesting Sho. . . .
Idle: (about 20 seconds without interacting with the game) (below 13 affinity)
"What're you looking at?"
little peek at the delinquent thug vibe lol
(13 affinity and above)
"C'mon. Hurry up, or I'm gonna leave you behind."
Always on the go, always doing something, he doesn't wanna leave you behind but he won't wait too long so. . .come back already?
Absent: (logging in for the first time in 2 or more days?)
"What took you so long? Your food's cold. Go wash up."
Alright, mom.
I STILL FEEL LIKE I CHOSE A BUNCH THIS ONE IS ALSO ALL OF THEM NOW . . .Sho is pretty lowkey. But after rereading them all and giving it some thought, you can definitely get a feel for his character. He seems like he keeps busy a lot--he's always doing something. Cooking, playing sports, reading, memorizing his textbooks. . .he's confident and comfortable and sometimes he's a bit rough around the edges. And sometimes he's a little flirty too, if he likes you. But that's all part of how confident and self-assured he is--and he has plenty of reason to be when he's so smart and skilled at damn near everything he touches. He acts more like the senpai character here. He's a lot like Haku, except where Haku is a bit lazier and less motivated(although he still works hard) Sho is always on the go. Always up to something, always trying something. He likes to keep busy and doesn't like to sit still--to the point that he even considers going to class when he's got nothing to do during the day. He wakes up and has nothing to do? Let's call Leo, he's usually got something going on. He complains about Alan making him work out so much or go to the pit or play basketball real hard? He still goes and does it anyway. But it seems like he just. . .always wants to be busy. I can't really think of many points he just kinda had downtime. Yeah, he goes fishing and reads and watches basketball(?) but like. . .he's still occupied even then. Then again maybe that's because he's stuck in Darkwick. He'd rather be driving around somewhere or doing some sport but he can't do so much unless he can leave. . .he feels a little restless to me. But maybe that's just me haha.
#tokyo debunker#shohei haizono#sho haizono#danie yells at tokyo debunker#tokyo debunker spoilers#datamining cw#sho is also just a guy. but he perorms the character of 'just a guy' well

Finally feeling productive today!
I missed my targets for two days because I honestly felt so dull and I was just not able to concentrate. But the guilt of losing these two days made my next few days also not much productive, however, doesn’t mean I did nothing.
I tried to follow a strict routine of waking up at 3 and then sleep by 11 and study atleast 10+ hours a day which was successful, however, my sleep cycle was badly messed up, my efficiency decreased like something that I could easily finish in 20 minutes, took me more than half an hour😩
And even though I ended up studying for more than 10 hours each day, I did not feel the satisfaction of being productive.
So, I will try to modify my plan a bit. For today, I slept till I wanted to, woke up happy, completed chapters much faster, learned easily and studied for 8 hours with 2 hours excluded for eating and things, so basically I got much more done in 6 hours and I’m feeling so happy now 😄
Also, I had my phone switched off during these days and at night I would be too exhausted to check and reply to my texts, made me realise I missed many important texts from class groups and so, I decided to keep my phone on, except just deleted a few reading apps ‘cause seeing them made me want to read and then I would not study 😭
I swear once my exams are done, the first thing I’ll do is sleep plenty and install those apps back 😤
Anyhow, so that was my rant.
I should get back to studying!

i’ve been thinking a lot recently about who i am, how people see me, the kind of person i want to come across as
all the little details that combine to create me as a person
warning: looooong post, just a bit of self-reflection. you have been warned
i’m kind
i’m smart
i have a hunger for knowledge, i want to learn everything and i often get sad when i think about how little time there is to learn things and how long it takes and how much effort you have to put into learning things
i’m learning piano
i don’t like watching movies because they make me anxious
i like to get to know my teachers and talk to them
i watch and am obsessed with minecraft youtube, they are so comforting to me
i love to sing, i’m a soprano and sing in a choir. my range last i checked is around A3 to G5 if i remember correctly. i sing very loudly but in a kind of operatic way, which doesn’t work very well for most styles of music (for example, pop songs and musical theater)
i’m also in musical theater and played a lead role this year
i come across as very confident and sure of myself, but there are layers to that (i seem like criticism just doesn’t affect me, but i’m actually very sensitive, i’m just very supportive of myself and try really hard not to let things get to me)
i have a need for things to be right, and i will correct a teacher if they say something that’s wrong. i don’t want my classmates learning false information and spreading it (i’m sure this is quite annoying to some people. i’m sorry)
i read fanfiction
i’m aroace
i used to love reading and would read all the time, now i struggle more but i try my best
i love language and languages. etymology, grammar, phonology.
i’m a native english speaker, born and raised in america. i’d say i’m quite good at mimicking accents, and i’ve also subconsciously picked up some britishisms through watching british youtubers. i’ve had people irl comment on that
i’ve been learning spanish in school since preschool and i just received my biliteracy award yesterday
i’ve been learning french with the help of apps such as duolingo, youtube videos, and other methods of self-study for nearly 3 years now
i have learned bits and pieces of asl, latin, italian, and norwegian
i’m registered for a college class on elementary asl this summer
i have adhd and am very likely autistic, but i question myself 24/7
i get hyperfixated on things, however the hyperfixations usually only last about 2 weeks, which leads me to be very unsure about hobbies and such, thinking i’ll give up on them in a few weeks time
i get scared that in a few weeks i won’t care about my favorite things anymore
i love baking, and have my recipe for chocolate chip cookies memorized. i oftentimes will bring them to school for class parties and the like, everytime they are completely gone by the end of the day
i love math and am very good at it, often helping my classmates with it. this year and last year my teachers have asked me to doubke check their work to make sure it’s right
i’ve never had issues with self-esteem about how i look
i have had self-esteem issues with my personality/me in general i guess. i have rsd, which makes me second guess myself a lot and i struggled a lot a few years ago because i didn’t have any close friends and due to the rsd would feel terrible about myself when people wouldn’t choose me for group projects, would leave me as a last resort, weren’t super enthusiastic around me, etc.
i now have 2 amazing best friends and an amazing 6 person friend group, i love them all so so much <3
my current best friend and i have only been friends for a little under a year :0 we are basically codependent atp, she’s crashing my family vaca this summer /hj (hj as in she is coming on vacation this summer, but she’s not exactly “crasshing” it, she was very invited)
i love harry potter, i first read it in 2nd grade and i’ve read it about 10 times now. i’m currently reading it in spanish to improve my vocab and grammar. however, i hate the author
i also am part of the marauders fandom, i love my gay babies <3
i intend to take college classes next year :0
my love language is learning about other people’s interests. for example, if you love a specific music artist, i will listen to their music and learn about that artist so that i can talk to you about them. this is my way of trying to connect with you and showing that i care enoug about you to take an interest in what you like
to build off of my last point, this conflicts a lot with my bsf, who is very much a gatekeeper (i love her) she does NOT like when other people like her interests, because they are very special to her. i don’t know how to explain it exactly as i am not her, but i do understand her pov. i am proud to say she has let me in on her interests, which makes me feel very special
i’m a cat person
i love tea, and coffee, and drinks in general. i’ve always been a drinks person. i used to joke that it’s to balance out how picky i am with food, although i’ve gotten better with that recently
i looooooovee music
i would love to learn more instruments. i used to play violin, as i’ve mentioned before, i’m currently learning piano. it’d be cool to learn drums or guitar or bass (guitar) as well. maybe flute
i would love to come across as someone warm and kind and friendly and loyal. unfortunately i probably come across, at least in school, as too much of a know-it-all or rule-follower, despite the fact that i try not to.
i love my parents so much. my mom is outgoing and fun and supportive and is where i get my adhd from lmao. we’ll go on dates on the weekends to coffee shops or ice cream places. she encouraged me to pick up an instrument. my bsf loves her and calls her her second mom. she is so so amazing and i’m just struggling to think of more things to say
my dad is just as supportive, and he’s also super fun to talk to, loves to learn just as much as i do, and is where i get my brains. my mom often says we’re basically the same person. we both love statistics and data or whatever you call it, in that we love tracking stuff, like how much sleep we get each night, our ancestry, grip strength (that one’s random, i know), etc. we also both love tp research things in depth, like when we travel somewhere, get an obsession, etc. we also go on dates sometimes, usually to a coffee shop or somewhere new. last time, he told me about how the extended family is doing and then we discussed lord of the rings for like half an hour. he used to read it to me before bed. i could keep going
i loooooove chocolate, and i can’t stand fruity candies. i don’t really like white chocolate, but mmmmm milk and dark chocolate are delicious
i can’t really eat most sweet things because they make my stomach hurt. even just a few bites of cake :/
i love card games!! texas holdem’, go fish, bullshit, this one version of solitaire that i can’t remember the name of but it’s really hard and most of the time i just have to start over
i love ice cream, mmmmm yummy. chocolate is my favorite flavor. just plain chocolate, no added chunks of anything
RAIN!! i love rain!!!! unfortunately it never rains here bc it’s hot and dry where i live :/ although i am grateful it’s not humid here, i think i would die
the owl house!!!! i fucking love that show it’s so asfdhfhvufhgifhgigjf
okay i’m gonna wrap this up because i think i’ve been sitting here writing this for like an hour
but yeah like i said earlier i’ve just been feeling really reflective lately and just happy at where i am right now
i doubt anyone read this whole thing bc i’m sure it would be boring to someone else but uhh. if you did, reply “chobblesome” ok bye!!

As sticking to studying is the hardest part of learning a language, the following can help you keep going and succeed:
Pick a short term goal that is doable within a month to a year, and that upon reaching will motivate you personally. (Example: your ultimate goal is to read novels - so you set a short term goal to read 1 graded reader. Or your ultimate goal is to travel and have casual conversations - so you make your short term goal to get on a language exchange app or speak with a tutor about how you are/where you live/what you do for work/what like to do, and ask them the same. Or your ultimate goal is to watch shows, so your short term goal is to watch a 5-10 minute chunk of a show and understand the main idea happening even if you have to look up words as you watch).
Pick study activities that allow you to do the things you want to do (aka things related to your goals) as soon as possible. So if you want to read, finding a way to do reading as you study will keep you going (Example: using graded readers, reading while looking words up, reading while listening to learner materials, picking textbooks that include reading excerpts). If you want to watch shows, finding a way to watch shows as part of your study routine (Examples: CI Lessons, watching cartoons, watching things you've seen before in another language, watching shows while looking words up). If you like listening to stuff, finding a way to fit listening to the language into your schedule (listening to Learner Podcasts during your day, listening to podcasts or audio dramas while looking up words, listening to songs and looking up the words, crosstalk). If you want to talk with people, getting on a language exchange site/app or getting a tutor or taking a conversational class, so you can regularly talk with people as part of study (also doing things to talk more on your own - shadowing, looking up how to say things and recording yourself speaking about topics you want to be prepared to chat about, doing Crosstalk sessions with a tutor or language exchange partner so you can listen to the tutor talk in the language even when you don't know how to say things yet).
Commit to study 50 hours. Yes I mean it. The beginning is when you're most likely to quit. Push through it. If you can manage to study 50 hours, you want to reach your goals enough to commit.
If you've been floundering the first 50 hours, look up different people's study plans they've shared online. Stuff like Refold, Dreaming Spanish, Glossika, Listening Reading Method, Glossika, Assimil, "learned to speak X," "learned to read X," "passed B2/HSK 6/JLPT N1" look up your personal goals "learned to understand anime," "learned to read webnovels," "learned enough to play video games," "learned to have conversations." Browse what people say they've done as their study plans, to achieve the same goals you have. Pick a person who had the same goal as you and achieved their goal, copy what they did. Ideally copy someone who likes to study in similar ways to you. So if you hate anki don't copy someone who used a ton of anki, if you hate reading don't copy someone who mostly studied by reading. So if you like speaking, and find someone who achieved the goal of speaking to people comfortably and did it with a lot of speaking, copy that person.
If you're struggling to make a study plan: find a person similar to you, with similar likes and goals who has succeeded, and copy their study plan. Copying someone who was successful means there's a decent chance their study plan works. So it may work for you. You may need to adjust the study plan, if it turns out not being ideal for you. But it's a good starting place if you have no idea what to do.
Alternatively, if you're struggling to make a study plan: sign up for a formal class so you can get a potential study plan from a teacher, or get a structured textbook, and just stick to the plan they recommend. Include some study activities directly related to your goals, to ensure you are motivated.
(So an example: if totally lost on where to start with say learning Japanese, and you want to play video games as your goal, you might buy Genki I, Genki 2, and Tobira textbooks, and just work through them while also playing japanese video games and looking up unknown words and grammar as you play. You'd get a structured study plan from the textbooks - so you'd work on listening, reading, speaking, writing. And you'd also regularly get to do your goal activity as practice and reinforcement of what you're learning, motivating you).
Commit to study 200 hours. Congrats, you've done more than most people. Depending on the language, and your study plan, you might even have reached an intermediate enough level to start reading stuff, watching stuff, and conversing with people assuming you're willing to look up words/grammar as needed. So if your goal is to do one of those things, it's going to only get easier from here on - you can finally study mainly by just DOING your goal activities. If you can reach this point, it will be easier to keep going, or even to study on and off (since you'll have some skills to do something in the language even if you leave and come back to it).
Keep going until you reach the point you can do some (or most) study by just doing your goal activities (or an easier variant of your goals) - with tools to help if necessary. Once you reach the point you can actually do the thing you want to do, even if badly or needing to rely on a lot of tools to do it, it becomes easier to keep studying. You find it's easier to turn study time into just regular hobby time. You find it's easier to stay motivated, because you're frequently doing what you wanted to do when you started learning.

TW- this ask contains mentions of csa and SA, self harm and suicidal ideation - take care of your mental health, read at your own discretion sorry it’s also v long
so i’ve been sitting on this ask for awhile ( in my notes app) bc im still working through my own issues but i figured this would help me on my journey.
As a young child, I experienced a myriad of traumatic events. From csa ( this information was withheld from me until i was an adult ) to losing my biological mother at the age of 6 to ovarian and breast cancer ( yes i do get a mammogram and pap smear yearly)
As a Teen , i was the DUFF of my friend group, designated ugly fat friend. It was never “what’s your name”, it was always “who is your friend?” I was hospitalized by my freshman year of high school for self harm and suicidal ideation. I still remember the sound of heartbreak from my dad over the phone crying why I didn’t come to him. I was in treatment for 5 weeks, came home and promised him i wouldn’t do it again. While I was in treatment I read a lot and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson became my ,for lack of a better term, Bible. I carried it everywhere I went.
Anyways, i went back to school, got better, built my confidence and felt unstoppable. That’s until my Dad passed over winter break of my freshman year of college. Then i lost my job and the people around me that i called friends seemed to vanish without a trace over night. I was all alone.
I spent my college savings without a care in the world and sunk deeper and deeper into a depression that i couldn’t pull myself out of. Even my comfort book couldn’t save me.
I eventually got a new job so that meant I had to put on a mask every day and smile in people’s faces even though the only thing I wanted to do was like face down in my bed and rot. It became to much, i confided in a trusted co worker that i had a plan and she stopped every thing she was doing and took me straight to the crisis center closest to our job and stayed with me until they took me back. ( she’s the Bayley to my Solana)
This time I was in treatment for 2 months. damn near 10 hours of therapy a day. Group therapy, one on one therapy, family therapy, DBT, music and art therapy any and everything you can think of they had it.
My Roommate was and still is one of the most selfless people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. We would attend most of the same therapy classes and both attended a women’s only session for women like us. Women who were violated. Women who survived. Women who wanted to heal. I learned a lot from those sessions. I hold each one of those women’s stories with me constantly a reminder to keep going.
I finished the program before my roommate did and she had gotten there before me. But before I left, i gave her a gift. I gave her my copy of Speak. The Bible I had used for years no longer served me in the way I was using it, so I gave it to her, hoping it would help. with all of my highlighted passages and my notes in the margins. I wrote a very long letter with my phone number on it and suck it right behind the cover. my favorite gift i’ve ever given.
After i left treatment, i met a boy. well not a boy, but an actual Man. A man that was genuinely interested in me. He didn’t care about my big butt or boobs. He didn’t care about my fupa or my love handles. He cared about my brain. He cared about my goals in life. He cared about my mental health! He cared about me. He’s my Roman.
All of this to say Life imitates art, and vice versa. Ari, you have gifted me with a new “Speak”. A story where I see myself in Solana. through all of her trials and tribulations are still a light at the end of her tunnel. She reminds me of the women that I met in treatment and those stories that I carry so close to me. She reminds me that healing is not linear, it has its ups and downs. she reminds me that there’s always always more for me.
So Ari, thank you for everything. thank you for creating a world where bad things do happen to good people, but those people still remain good people. thank you for your realistic, portrayal of mental health and healing and struggle. Thank you for your free time, thank you for putting the effort that you do into these stories. This may be a little dramatic to say but thank you for helping me on my journey 💕
i need you to know that i cried reading this, just as i'm crying typing this response. i honestly, truly never know just the right words to say to messages/asks like this, because there's so much i want to say, could say, should say, but none of it feels like enough.
so, i just want to start with thank you. not necessarily for this ask, but for still being here. still being with us. this earth is so messed up in so many ways, and life can be so freaking hard, but i truly do believe there is always some aspect of light at the end of the tunnel. it cannot and will not rain forever. 🥺
i am so infinitely and intensely grateful for you, for your bravery and strength and perseverance and everything else that's carried you through life. that's allowed you to make it here to this point where you can resonate with solana and her victories. not just her trauma, but that happiness that awaited her. that you have your own roman, something all women deserve. 🥺
i can't begin to express to yo what it does to me when people send messages like this. share how the experiences i wrote about speak to them in various ways. how they can connect with the characters. it always means so much to me, because i really wrote that story with so much love and consideration. because i think we all can see at least some aspect of ourselves in solana, so to write her journey, showing her going from this traumatized young woman to this powerful young woman who overcame and conquered so much is just 🥺🥺
sorry, im babbling, thank you so much again for sharing this with me. just thank you. 🥺❤️

Theme: Lost in Translation; Two characters from different cultures/languages trying to communicate and understand each other (and sparks fly?) (with dialogue)
1. "I can barely pronounce anything right, and you find that funny?"
"It's not just funny, it's endearing. Let's keep practicing, maybe over coffee?"
(Later) "Every mispronounced word and shared laugh has unexpectedly brought us closer."
"And every lesson feels less like class and more like... us discovering each other."
2. "How do you say 'dinner' in Japanese again?"
"Here, let me draw it for you—it’s easier!"
(Later) "Using drawings and gestures turned out to be our own little language."
"And every shared word feels like a step closer to understanding more than just our languages."
3. "My translation app isn't working. Can you understand this diagram?"
"Let's try acting it out instead; maybe that will be clearer!"
(Later) "Struggling through every sentence somehow made us understand each other better."
"Yes, and those laughs over mixed-up translations? They’ve translated into something quite special."
4. "How do you say 'beautiful view' in Italian?"
"Bella vista—just like this moment, isn’t it?"
(Later) "Navigating the language barrier was frustrating, but finding you made every confusing moment worth it."
"And each misstep in our speech became a step closer together in these beautiful places."
5. "Can you teach me how to order this dish properly?"
"Sure, repeat after me, and maybe teach me how to say it in your language too!"
(Later) "Learning the names of dishes turned into tasting a new kind of sweetness."
"Every lesson you gave me added another layer to our deliciously growing connection."
6. "I hope I said that right—did that even make sense?"
"It was perfect, and your accent is cute! Let’s try another sentence."
(Later) "Our screens couldn't hide the chemistry that was building with every corrected pronunciation."
"As we bridged our languages, we also bridged our hearts."
7. "I might not speak your language well, but this color should say a lot."
"Yes, let the paint talk when words fail us."
(Later) "Our mural became our shared language, full of colors and feelings we couldn't verbalize."
"And each stroke painted a piece of a romance that words could never have expressed."
8. "I can’t seem to pronounce this correctly; can you help?"
"Let’s break it down together, and share some stories along the way."
(Later) "Every translated word and shared experience brought our worlds closer."
"Our stories wove a narrative richer than any single language could tell."
9. "Do you think they’ll understand this metaphor in translation?"
"Let's tweak it together—I’ll make sure your voice shines through."
(Later) "Flirting through footnotes wasn’t something I anticipated, yet here we are."
"The nuances we shared crafted not just a translated work, but a manuscript of affection."
10. "I’m completely lost; can you point me to the museum?"
"Why point when I can take you there? Let’s make a day of it."
(Later) "Our broken phrases and laughter filled a day I thought would be lost in this city."
"Your company turned a quest for directions into an unexpectedly beautiful journey."

hello duchess of fitzrovia,, I see on your Mate interview translation video that you learned german for 3 years before being able to translate the video. may I ask how you learned? do you have any tips? thanks and stay well!!
Hii, thanks for asking! :D
This got long, so TL;DR:
1) Immerse yourself by putting yourself into situations where you truly have to speak/try to understand German to get through it. (Can be "I desperately want to understand this information I found online, but I won't unless I decipher and translate it".)
2) For listening and reading: Seek out a topic area you're genuinely interested in and learn about that in German. (I've never found Duolingo or other apps like that super helpful or interesting/motivating...)
3) For speaking practice especially, consider "real" language courses! For pronunciation, consider making musical cover songs your hobby xD (This is genuinely how I've gotten most of my pronunciation practice.)
I've been passively learning German for about 8 years now (started listening to German-language musicals in 2016), but I did only start learning actively and with intent in 2021. My "official" studies have been:
An A1 basic course in 2021 (6 weeks, 2ish hours a week)
A B1.2 Goethe course in 2023 (10 weeks, 2 hours a week)
A failed attempt at a B2.2 course in 2024 (stopped going because I got too busy with uni), and another B2.2 attempt that I'm currently completing :D
However, I would say that I've learned most of the language on my own, from watching musicals and interviews, reading books, articles and blog posts, and finally immersion - moving to Germany into a city where a lot of basic life things won't get done if you can't speak the language. For example: my apartment building caretaker (who gave me the keys and who I needed to call to fix my shower drain a month in) didn't speak any English, and neither did people at the tax bureau, town hall, supermarket, regional theatres... On trains, some important announcements will only be given in German, and some museums don't give all of their guided tours in English. This has been a huge help for me - sometimes it's a headache, but it does teach you a lot!!!
The major advantage in taking courses, though, is that there's 1) someone to motivate/"force" you to do vocab and grammar exercises, 2) someone to give feedback and corrections, 3) a group to practice speaking with. The last point has been the most helpful for me, I think, because learning super eclectically means that my skills are kind of unbalanced... I read academic texts really well if I can look up individual words & I understand speech in most situations, but I struggle a lot with grammar and independent writing, and I used to be nervous speaking before starting to practice more formally in a classroom setting where there's help.
I think the most important tip I can give is to just dive in - force yourself into situations where the only way you get what you want is by speaking German or figuring out what words mean :D I picked up basic vocabulary and phrases from listening to musicals and reading transcriptions (important!) and translations of the songs I was listening to, and from there, it was easy to expand. For reading, I really recommend finding something that you're organically interested in otherwise (for me it's been 19th century history research and primary sources from that era, as well as musical theatre stuff); for listening, I recommend looking up documentaries/music/movies that you would also watch if they were in English. In many language classes they will purposefully teach you about German/DACH culture and show students "classics" from those countries, and while that's also important, I think for independent learning it's more effective to find something that you're really, genuinely personally passionate about.
I still Deepl difficult words and make a huge amount of grammar mistakes when speaking (my current course includes one-on-one discussion hours with the teacher which has been so helpful, but she needs to interrupt me about once a minute with "syntax... SYNTAX!!" xD) but I get complimented a lot on my German skills, largely due to the fact that I speak confidently despite the mistakes & have a decent accent >:)
#I hope this helped somewhat!#i cant give tips on writing because i deepl so much of it its embarrassing jsjdjd. however i'm a quick deepl'r and i can tell when somethin#sounds clunky. thanks to countless emails i have had to send to uni administration insurance offices etc. official parties xD#also in my defense one of the uni admin workers deepls her emails into english HSFHSHSGH. i have the right#languages
