Happy pride from Adam and Steve, my t4t gay vampire and werewolf!!!
Tumblr media
They're from my webcomic. It's good. I'm not biased. It's funny and gentle and they time travel to a new location every full moon, where there's a new little mystery to solve!

love how when i told my sister i was genderfluid she was like “yeah yeah i know idc” but would NOT stop thinking about whether or not that made me gay or straight. there’s something inherently hilarious about her going “YOU’RE STRAIGHT!! No…YOU’RE GAY!!” spontaneously as we’re walking to get food LMAO

My Sexuality Headcanons
Dean Winchester is Transmasc and Bisexual
Castiel is Gay (as confirmed by Misha) and non binary (preferences are He/Him or They/Them)
Sam Winchester is Pansexual and uses He/They pronouns
Jack Kline is Pansexual and uses all pronouns (he’s just a happy little nephilim :D)
Gabriel is Pansexual and Gender Fluid
Lucifer is bisexual and doesn’t care what pronouns people use
Michael is Gay and uses He/They
Adam is Gay and a cis male
Crowley is Bisexual (apparently confirmed???) and Transmasc (it’s canon that he kisses men when they make deals)
Bobby is a straight cis male but he’s probably one of the biggest allys
Chuck is bisexual (as confirmed? in the show with him saying he’s had both boyfriends and girlfriends) and uses any and/or all pronouns

"non-woman loving non-woman" "non-men loving non-men"
hi. you're actually oppressing multigendered people!! don't go telling around girlboys/boygirls or non-binary girls/boys that they're "not ACTUALLY men/women, they're non-binary"
this is exorsexism.
this, yeah. i had to block someone who suggested these definitions of lesbian and gay under my recent post about nonbinary people and orientation labels.
not only are they shitty for multigender people, they're shitty for all of us because they reduce us to what we're not, and the way they're using it, they're very much using "non-man" to mean "woman-lite" because they're adamant that "non-man" is not multiple genders. like, i didn't come out as nonbinary nearly 8 years ago, having to fight to be recognised at every corner just for another queer person to erase my gender and call me a "non-man".
and i know that a lot of transgender women take issue with being called non-men too.

It's Pride Month, which means it's time for my annual post of the 5 best books with queer rep I read since the last time I made this post!
These books weren't necessarily published in the last year; they're just what I happened to pick up and enjoy. I hope you like them too!
They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera (bi, gay rep)
I avoided reading this one for ages because, I mean, look at the title. I thought it would break my heart. It did. This is a world much like ours, except the DeathCast service means everyone knows if they are going to die today. The intersecting narrative structure is done very well.
The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer (bi rep)
Two young spacefarers from feuding nations back on Earth are tasked with a rescue mission. I recommend this one for fans of Project Hail Mary. Do yourself a favor and go in unspoiled. It'll be fun.
What Moves the Dead by @tkingfisher (nonbinary rep)
Content warnings for animal death and some gore. A retelling of Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher. It's creepy and atmospheric and an altogether enjoyable read.
Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell (bi, gay rep)
The Iskat Empire is on the brink of disaster and hastily marries one of its minor princes to a count from a vassal planet - a count whose last husband suffered an extremely untimely death far too recently. This one's sci-fi with interesting world-building and two very likable leads.
Shorefall by Robert Jackson Bennett (lesbian rep)
Oh, I'm sorry, did you think you were getting away without a fantasy entry on this year's list? Shorefall is book 2 in the Foundryside trilogy (start with Foundryside). Our main characters - a thief, a very upstanding captain of the guard, and some scientists - are fighting a capitalist meat-grinder fueled by a magic system that works a little like programming. It's high stakes with a lot of tension and great world-building.
--
And that's the list! Happy Pride and happy reading!
Looking for more? Here's our LGBTQ Reads tag. Enjoy!

I wanna talk about the pride artwork for HB, because like a lot of other people I have some thoughts.
Tumblr media
Firstly, positives:
It overall looks pretty good imo. The colours are bright and the picture has nice energy. I don't mind the HB/HH artstyle in general, it's mostly the designs that are the problem (the designs in HB are better than in HH). It is very cluttered, but I sorta learned to deal with that and I don't mind as much here.
Millie being there for Moxxie is cute and she looks amazing.
The outfits for some of the characters look good.
Sallie May being a Lesbian is nice (idk why, it just is).
Verosika looks great and very pretty (as always).
I like the idea of Loona taking Octavia to her first Pride parade. I like the idea of them hanging out in general and I want to see more of that.
Beelzebub looks cute.
I like the face Barbie makes (idk either).
Now onto the things I don't like:
Some of these sexualities seem kinda like they were just made up on the spot. Loona being Bisexual is nice, but she literally only ever showed interest in guys and there was never anything that could lead us to assume that she's Bi. The same thing goes for Mammon or Andrealphus. For Andrealphus it seems like they just made him gay to excuse the weird comments he makes about his Sister and especially since a lot of people started using their weird relationship to imply that Stella has some problems as well and isn't just a heartless bitch. Now they can basically just say: "Andrealphus isn't weird towards Stella, he is literally gay, why would he harrass her". I don't mind as much with characters like Bee or Barbie, because they only showed up once and it would've been pretty difficult to confirm their sexualities.
A lot of people mentioned Mammon being Ace just seems like an excuse to not put him in sexual merchandise or something. He is the only fat character in HB (who is actually relevant) and he is one of the two ace characters. It feels sorta disingenuous when the only two ace characters are a teen and the single fat character you have. Especially since, if I remember correctly there were a lot of people (including me) who found Mammon attractive and were looking forward to more sex-positivity for plus sized folks, especially when in Vivzepops shows theres only him and Mimzy (Adam as well maybe).
Why do a lot of the pansexual demons in this show feel stereotypical. Bee and Asmodeus are fine, the background demons as well I guess. Blitzø is super horny all the time and could fill a whole party just with people he slept with. Verosika and her followers are succubi who we saw sexually assault Moxxie. Barbie Wire manipulated a teenage/barely legal human to do what she wants by using her body. And Chaz is a literal and very open sexual harrasser/abuser. The only joke he has are making unwanted sexual remarks toward Moxxie and being horny. He has a sign that says: "I will fuck anything", which isn't what pansexuality is and the wording makes it really weird ("anything" not "anybody"). And he looks at Andrealphus weirdly. Him and Blitzø are also naked for no reason.
I would've loved to see some nonbinary/genderfluid/genderqueer characters. We don't have one confirmed genderqueer character. How about nonbinary Octavia or Vasago. Or genderfluid Moxxie. Or bigender Barbie or something. I just wished we had anything like that. Also a personal headcannon of mine, but Asmodeus should probably be Polyamorous. He is the incarnation of Lust and with how they wrote him in the show it's kinda hard to believe/doesn't make sense that he is in a monogamous relationship.
Where are Mayberry and Martha? They were confirmed to be sapphic and so far they're the only sapphic characters in an actually sapphic relationship we see in HB. Why does Wally get to be there but they aren't? Why is Vasago there instead of them, when he hasn't even showed up in an episode yet? Why is Vasago there in general? It's not like i'm gonna be happy with him being confirmed to be gay because there is nothing we know about him yet.
Why is Tex not there? Did they just forget him? He might be straight but he could still be there to support his girlfriend and isn't he literally Verosikas bodyguard. He was at the weird Blitzø hate party with her, but not here?
Isn't Chaz dead?
Why would Asmodeus and Fizz go to the same parade as Mammon, when the only episode with Mammon so far has dealt with how much he hurts Fizz.
You might say: "This isn't supposed to make sense, it's just a more interesting way to confirm characters' sexuality for pride month, so it doesn't have to make canon/logical sense". Which I would agree with, if they didn't excuse Stella and Striker (two pretty important characters) not being there by saying something along the lines of: "Do you really think they would attend a pride parade?". Maybe not, but I also don't think Chaz would attend a parade, being dead and all. I also don't think that Barbie would go out of her way to go to hell, just to attend a pride parade, especially since her brother is there too. I also don't think Andrealphus would go out of his way to go to a parade filled with imps and people he doesn't like. I also don't think Mammon would be there because it's nothing that brings him money or something. Stella might be straight and that's the reason she isn't here. But her brother (who she seemingly likes and confines in) is there and she could go to support him and her being straight isn't even confirmed, so she could very well be queer. And isn't Striker queer as well? Im sorta confused with that, because they try to make him a bigot (probably also homophobic), but the scene he has with Blitzø in "Harvest moon festival" seems very queer. His offense at sexual remarks could also imply that he is a very sex-repulsed asexual or Demisexual or something. Unless of course they want to use the fact that he doesn't like sexual remark from men as a way to make him seem homophobic (even though him reacting bad to unwanted sexual remarks doesn't mean he's bigoted, like that's well within his rights to be uncomfortable). It's not as if Viv shows restraint with making villians/antagonists queer in general. Mammon, Chaz, Andrealphus are all antagonists in HB and are also there. In HH they literally went out of their way to confirm Vox being in a relationship with Valentino, a rapist. It seems like being Straight/Bigoted/too much of an asshole to show up only applies to the characters who actively dislike Stolas and to the only main female antagonist.

“why is the possibility of transness something dan needs to be defended from, anyways? it's a compliment and we know dan takes it that way.” god thank you i am so glad you’re back. it pisses me off so bad how much people fundamentally misunderstand dan and BIG. as if he hasn’t mentioned gender at least 10 times this year. as if he hasn’t reiterated multiple times how it was thanks to his audience that he accepted himself as queer and was able to come out. as if he doesn’t love trans people and would never take offense at other trans people seeing themselves in him even if he is cis. i genuinely don’t get people who think it’s less harmful to be adamant that he’s a cis gay man experimenting with self expression like i promise you the line between that and transness is not that thick
mwah ily anon i'm always glad to wade back into the trenches 💛
you're literally so right w all of this but i'm especially seconding that the line between cis gay man experimenting w gender identity and transness being thinner than people think. it's so fucking real and i wish people held more room for that in their hearts.
sometimes a person's experience with gender is such that they need to figure out their sexuality and what it means to them and for them before being able to look at gender and people don't like. get that. sometimes a lesbian figures out they're a lesbian and only after that also figures out they're nonbinary and transmasc. the same can be true for gay men.
and some people only accept & understand it for transmasc lesbians rather than understanding that that doesn't only exist for lesbians. and that's fully due to unexamined transmisogyny.
there are so many lesbians and gay men alienated from binary womanhood or manhood to the point that they keep their sexuality but identify away from their assigned gender completely! there's so many of us with gender identities that seem mutually exclusive with our sexualities but aren't because we just. exist. contradictory and complex gender identities exist.
like. the underlying assumptions people approach dan gender conversations with are so hostile towards people with nonbinary identities like mine that i'm not willing to talk about myself here.
and it makes me crazy. because people constantly say "you're deciding for dan what his label is" or like "you're claiming specifics" while simultaneously firmly labeling dan as cis. and every single dan gender poster i know is saying "isn't it beautiful that dan could be anything, even cis and gnc?"
we're just commenting on probabilities. none of us are claiming sure knowledge.
and i really think trying to deny that dan is exploring gender expression at the very least is laughably impossible at this point.

AITA for refusing to ask my partner for permission before talking about my bottom surgery plans/bottom dysphoria?
I am genuinely at a loss on if my reaction was wrong or not. I can see why I may be TA, but I tend to be very adamant about my moral beliefs, and my partner tends to suppress his needs and people-please, so I need some second opinions.
I (23 FTX/FTM) identify as a genderfluid nonbinary man. I am pre-surgery of any kind. i enjoy penetration and don't mind having a vagina, but feel dysphoria because of the lack of a phallic appendage. I plan on eventually getting a metoidioplasty with a urethoplasty, but without a vaginectomy/scrotoplasty. i consider my ideal genital configuration to be what some call "salmacian."
as of VERY recently, i was unaware of anything aside from a complete phalloplasty being possible- due mostly to the way transmasculine bottom surgery is widely regarded as disgusting and mutilation, and rarely discussed openly without shame. learning about the existence of these procedures has given me an incredible amount of hope and joy, knowing i can achieve a GNC body i love.
my partner (24M) is, for the most part, extremely supportive of my transition goals and identity. we have been dating for about 2 years- when we first met, i told him i did not plan on getting any bottom surgery because i would be satisfied with bottom growth, and do not want a full phalloplasty. since learning about meta, my plans have changed.
when discussing the possibility of getting bottom surgery, he told me that he thinks phallo looks gross, and would not be okay having sex with me if i decided to get a phalloplasty. i found that upsetting, but told him that i still do not want a cis-confirming body, and explained the difference between phallo and meta. he said he would be fine with that, but im still upset at his reaction to even mentioning bottom surgery at all.
since that discussion, i have been talking often and excitedly about my newfound bottom surgery plans. like i said, it has given me so much joy to learn that there is an alternative to phallo, and i want to express that joy around my partner. however, he has asked me to ask him if it's okay to talk about anything regarding genitals before bringing it up.
i asked him why he needs me to ask for permission, and he told me that he finds all genitalia disgusting when not in the context of sex, and that it makes him uncomfortable when i bring it up unprompted. i find this upsetting as well. i strongly believe in the destigmatization of ALL body parts, especially transgender bodies. i believe that genitalia is just as neutral of a body part as an arm or a leg, and that any discomfort with body parts is the responsibility of the person uncomfortable to cope with and work through, and not something that should be censored. i find having to ask permission to talk about my transgender body to be censorship and transphobic. i refused to ask for permission first, and told him that he should work through his discomfort with the human body instead.
I may be TA because- i am refusing to respect a boundary.
He may be TA because- not all "boundaries" are equal. just like asking two gay people to not kiss in public without asking permission because it makes you uncomfortable would be a homophobic boundary, i find that asking your transgender partner to not talk about his bottom dysphoria/surgery plans without permission is a transphobic boundary.

hiya! you mentioned tadaai in your last stsg post, and as a fellow enjoyer of that ship (that gets a strange amount of hate, mayhaps tied into people not interpreting Adam in good faith) I was curious if you could talk about their power dynamic/your interpretation of their characters/ etc
I'm just curious what your takes are on them!!
adam sk8 the infinity is a batshit insane comedy villain and i need anyone hating on him to grow up and engage with a single piece of media without having to go on some abstract side quest of proving you are a Good Person because you like the Unproblematic Perfect Media.
like, you watched that show because it was WWE wrestling personalities on skateboards in a high school slice of life sports anime about the power of (gay) friendship overcoming single minded competitive ambition.
and you wanna hate the guy that made it all happen?
be so fucking for real right now.
okay bitches bros and nonbinary hoes, let's talk:
characters do not need to be good people. (full sentence).
(dlc): characters do not need to be good people in order for you to like them, but also you don't need to like characters anyway. they don't need to be likeable or even sane for them to be valuable to the story.
tadaai is a messy and toxic relationship and i fucking love that shit. (don't talk about ulquiorra/grimmjow don't talk about ulquiorra/grimmjow don't-
tadashi's self-image issues? chef's kiss. ainosuke's self-isolating ambition? oh i'm rock hard. canon petplay? immaculate.
at base, their power dynamic is turbofucked because of their wealth gap and the fact that they met in an established service relationship. they could have easily gotten through that. they do get through it. ainosuke shows his humanity and vulnerability by bonding with tadashi over skating. and then his family steps in and heavily traumatizes him, slamming that door shut. and that is what makes the dynamic so juicy. ainosuke's self-isolation being a trauma response in and of itself is just... 10/10, love it.
on tadashi's end, he's starting with a whole lot of self worth issues because of his socioeconomic status combined with his position in a service industry (if he was poor but not adam's servant he wouldn't necessarily develop this way). ainosuke's trauma also secondhand traumatizes tadashi, making him dig his heels into his mindset as he holds himself responsible for that pain. (and the canon petplay can be seen as toxic atonement if you want to go that route - or maybe he's just separately into that shit).
in fanfic, you can either extend this relationship and make them worse, or, especially post-canon, you could take on all of the heavy lifting of unpacking this and getting the boys to a healthier dynamic. but it's fanfic so like, both are equally valid; it just depends what you're in the mood to read and write.
SK8 didn't have to give the trauma context to ainosuke's character. he would have been a good character/addition to the story/plot driver for reki and langa even if you couldn't easily understand where he was coming from. even if he was just a flat villain (total bad faith interpretation - born crazy) you could write some hot gay tadaai fanfic and it would be compelling.
but because SK8 is kind of an adam character study as much as it is a reki/langa character study, the writers fit a lot of depth in that bad boy. so imo people that hate on tadaai or adam are kind of severely missing the point.
