It's very common for people to push those with demonised personality disorders to the end of their tether via manipulation, bullying, abuse, etc. and then get upset with them when they inevitably snap.

It happens a lot within the neurodivergent community, too! People spread lies about us, do things that purposely upset/trigger us and then when we start to get upset/stand up for ourselves/etc. it's "sEE??? we were right about them all along!!!!"

this might be controversial idk lol but i really do hate that 90% of personality disorder rep is cluster b (minus hpd because people leave that one out a lot). and a lot of cluster b representation does suck in terms of accuracy and sensitivity, which sucks and is harmful, i recognize that fully.

but even in online discussions about personality disorders the main focus always seems to be cluster b PD's, specifically BPD. while cluster a and c are either very ignored or mentioned once and then moved on from.

whenever i go to the cluster c tag or join spaces for cluster c personality disorders, or even my specific diagnoses (when i can even find them), its very overrun by cluster b posts which does get frustrating after awhile because i want to see other people in my cluster in the tag.

obviously people with cluster b PD's deserve to talk about their experiences, im absolutely not discrediting that or trying to take that away, i just wish cluster a and c had a bit more spaces to talk about our experiences without it being turned into another cluster b conversation. i do relate to a lot of cluster b posts and im always happy to see them succeed and have good conversations and resources, but it gets lonely when you're left in the dark, to be honest.

i genuinely feel like we need someone to act like an idiot to piss people off (such as sigmund freud) just so that we can have a new wave of psychologists passionate enough to update current knowledge

its kind of frustrating how for szpd, most referenced and idolized books/research papers are all from the 1900s and theres rarely anything new. sure, there are some, but nothing widespread or notable.

not to mention that i am sure other people with different disorders (such as NPD, ASPD, etc) also feel this pull of needing something New in order to wash out the demonization and create a new generation of understanding.

recently ive been reading about people who are seeking diagnosis or understanding of the disorder that they might have, but are limited by diagnostic rules (example: cant get diagnosed with ASPD if you weren't diagnosed with conduct disorder first) that completely disregard the idea that idk... kids can lie and adults can fall for it. what legal records can there be if the kid got away with it?

so there is that gap,, plus some other gaps my brain is too dissociated to explain right now. i might discuss this further later.

Hey chat today's socialization tip is that making fun of someone's disorder is fucking ableist. If you don't have the disorder then don't make jokes about it. Having a disorder that's "similar" doesn't give you clearance to make jokes about it.

As someone with ASPD. I wouldn't make an insulting joke about someone who has NPD, OCPD, or ScPD in regard to their disorder. That would be fucking rude. Just because I have a personality disorder it doesn't give me clearance to make fun of someone else for their personality disorders. Same thing with any other disorder.

To those with demonised disorders who like to headcanon their favourites characters as having those disorders: you are valid. It does not make you or that character a bad person. You deserve to be able to project onto media/fiction that you relate to just like everyone else without people losing their shit over it.
