Почему я говорю об этом? Недавно в одном из писательских пабликов наткнулся на пост с вопросом, вроде: "подскажите, как лучше описывать, и как придумывать метафоры для своего текста" (за точность цитаты не ручаюсь).

Так вот, очень многие стали советовать молодому писателю прочитать Набокова.

Вот вам произвольная цитата из "Лолиты": "Бедной этой даме было лет тридцать пять, у неё был гладкий лоб, выщипанные брови и совсем простые, хотя и довольно привлекательные черты лица того типа, который можно определить как слабый раствор Марлены Дитрих. Похлопывая ладонью по бронзоватому шиньону на затылке, она повела меня в гостиную, где мы поговорили с минуту о сгоревшем доме Мак-Ку и преимуществах жизни в Рамздэле. Её широко расставленные аквамариновые глаза имели привычку окидывать всего собеседника, прилежно избегая только его собственных глаз. Её улыбка сводилась к вопросительному вскидыванию одной брови; и пока она говорила, она как бы развёртывала кольца своего тела, совершая с дивана судорожные маленькие вылазки в направлен��и трёх пепельниц и камина (в котором лежала коричневая сердцевина яблока); после чего она снова откидывалась, подложив под себя одну ногу. Уверяю вас, что если вы сегодня напишете что-нибудь в таком духе, то не видать вам читателей.

Классика нужна для понимания литературы в целом, для знания истоков, понимания глубины мысли писателей того времени, но она, увы, не подходит для того, чтобы брать конкретный пример в описаниях персонажей, обстановки и построении художественных приемов (в основном).

Ваши описания должны быть хлёсткими и мимолётным, как блик летнего солнца в зеркале заднего вида, грязный воротничок неряхи школьника, как ямочки на щеках смеющейся девушки.

В общем, пишите ёмко и мимолётно, чтобы читатель не погряз в ваших описаниях. Он должен их чувствовать, а не утопать в них.

Okay so some of you may be familiar with the fact that alchemy heavily relates to The Magnus Protocol, especially with the latest episode.

It's already admitted that Sam Khalid's name is at least inspired by Prince Khalid Ibn Yazid, a famous alchemist from the 7th century. Well I'd like to go a bit deeper, and point out more connections :

Alice Dyer -> Edward Dyer

Teddy Vaughn -> Thomas Vaughan

Colin Becher -> Johann Joachim Becher

Lena Kelley -> Edward Kelley

Celia Ripley -> George Ripley

Chester -> Robert de Chester

I've yet to find anything about Norris or Augustus but this is what I've got. But there's more ! There are connections !

Edward Dyer and Thomas Vaughan were both Rosicruscians (and friends, too), a subcategory of alchemists

Robert De Chester was the one who translated Khalid Ibn Yazid's works from Arabic to Latin

Johann Joachim Becher was German, then travelled to England and resided in Scotland

Edward Kelley worked with Robert Boyle (mentionned in MAGP 19)

I'm not sure exactly what to do with it, but that's what I've got. I'm going insane over that so expect some more over the next few days.

Ya ever thought about how Goofy wears green in a goofy movie instead of orange (his usual colour)

It’s because orange and red (Max’s colour) are next to eachother on the wheel, cuz in goof troop max and goofy are close.

In a goofy movie they are failing to understand eachother so they’re wearing opposite colours (they couldn’t change Max’s colour because he was already redesigned and it’d make it harder to recognise him)

THEN in extremely goofy movie, what’s goofy wearing… (when he’s not dressed up)

Red! He’s still not wearing his own colour, instead he’s straight up wearing Max’s colour. Because he’s now TOO attached to max and relying on his relationship with his son.

Movies are cool man…

No, because people keep acting like Grace Chastity being consumed with a lust for the power that Lords in Black provided her doesn't count as a world ending Cataclysm - but it very much does. Not only has she shown little to no empathy for others throughout the entire show and only ever felt bad for lying to authority figures and being horny - but the final song of the Musical is essentially a reprise of Max's Murder Song/Manifesto which places her as a parallel to Max. Max sings about how he's going to kill ALL the Nerdy Prudes and not once but twice tells the audience that it doesn't matter if someone is actually a Nerdy Prude because he makes the rules and gets to decide who is or isn't a nerd etc etc. Grace's take is that she is going to kill all the Dirty Dudes but she's literally singing it to a guy who has, throughout the entire musical, done nothing to indicate he's a pervy/dirty dude and only kissed her after she asked him too. Like Max, Grace Chastity doesn't actually care if someone genuinely fits the framework of her stated victimology, because she has the power so she gets to make the rules.

Honestly it's like some people didn't think about the implications.

do you all remember the gala in monaco 2024 where charles and max were blurry photographed leaving together in suits and we got anecdotes that they were hanging out together the entire night and joking around…yeah what WAS that and why do we only have like one paparazzi picture to remember it by…

if there's a will coming out scene (maybe the one we see in the trailer) where he comes out to Joyce, what do you guys think he's going to say to her/how is he going to tell her? is he going to say he likes boys? or just straight up confess his crush on mike? I'm so invested

I think I’ve seen a post about it before, but I’ve connected more dots and I feel like it should be talked about more because..

that guy from La Dee Dah Dah Day is totally Max right?

a couple things make me believe this!

- character is a jock played by Jeff, and Jeff was heavily considered for the role of Max before he got involved in other projects

- we see Peter (hot cocoa boy) is also infected during this number which could be a coincidence and they just needed an extra, buuuut….in the “Nerdy Prudes Must Livestream” livestream, Nick mentions how NPMD was the first completed work in the Hatchetfield trilogy

-we do see the same letterman jacket being used later during the working boys segment

however we know this is (very likely) a different character because of how Jeff’s hair is up and how the letterman is now buttoned

-bonus points for the “J” on the letterman possibly standing for “Jägerman”

-the demeanor of the character (even though his is infected) gives a very Max like energy and yes this could be Jeff just being an asshole jock, but NPMD was the first finished Hatchetfield show which means they would have known what Max’s checker was going to be like

I think this is fun to talk about because like….how the hell did max get infected??

I know this is a question that can pertain to many of the first few infected characters we see, but I feel like most of them can be covered by “oh yeah they went to the starlight that night”, but there’s no way max would have. we know he got infected before the rest of hatchetfield high because of the later scene of Alice being trapped in the high school, so that didn’t infect him. that means he was killed and then infected or some how infected unknowingly like the patrons in beanies. the ladder is more likely obviously, but imagine if it was the former and instead of Max coming back as a ghost after he died in the Waylon place, he came back as a part of the Hive.

you ever think about how during the song nerdy prudes must die (videoed below lol) when Max sings “this is the consequence for what you’ve done” he’s in his own little world and it seems like he’s singing to himself and not Richie in that moment. almost like becoming a vengeful spirit who’s hunting down the people who just did one of the nicest things for him is his consequence for bullying them for all these years. how it’s his consequence for being scared of ghost/being a little cuck as Max’s dad so eloquently put it.

I’m fully aware Max was very angry towards the nerds while he was dying, but part of me really likes to believe that the Waylon Place corrupted his spirit a little bit and made him more vengeful (more full of wrath if you will) than he would have been otherwise.
