I am one of those people who likes to pass various maps in Minecraft. I am looking for something with a story and in the year 2020-2021 I found the map Departed from the studio Narration. The map has 2 parts and I like them very much. Unfortunately it is only in Russian, but if you know it, I advise you to play :]

In a nutshell, Departed is a series of maps about vampires. The plot of both parts takes place in the same world, but the main characters are different. I am more attracted to the second part, so I drew the characters from it. I drew Adrian Valerio (second drawing) and Kaleb Devenport (first drawing). In the drawing with Kaleb I wanted to show all his life before turning into a vampire, and to do it was not so difficult to take into account that this fragment of gameplay for maximum 20 minutes.

Я один из тех людей, которые любят проходить различные карты в Майнкрафте. Я обычно ищу что-то с сюжетом, и в 2020-2021 году я нашла карту Departed от студии Narration. Карта состоит из 2 частей, и они мне очень ��равятся. К сожалению, она только на русском языке, но если вы его знаете, то советую поиграть :]

В двух словах, Departed - это серия карт про вампиров. Сюжет обеих частей происходит в одном и том же мире, но главные герои разные.

Меня больше привлекает вторая часть, поэтому я нарисовала персонажей из нее. А именно Адриана Валерио (первый рисунок) и Калеба Дэвенпорта (второй рисунок). В рисунке с Калебом мне хотелось показать всю его жизнь до превращения в вампира, и сделать это было не так сложно, учитывая, что этот фрагмент геймплея длится максимум минут 20.

We were playing Minecraft, and I was making a map for our house. I said I had a map. This was her response.

The minecraft movie is very fun and sillie but I really do wish there was a more "takes game seriously" movie , or maybe an official graphic novel???

There is so much cool lore pieces within the game and it would be really cool if they explored them in some way!!!

At least from my interpretation, the way the game is and the structures within it implies that the player or players are the last of an extinct race who once built huge structures across the map. The zombies and skeletons may even be corrupted undead versions of them and the player is some how immune.

I also love player and villager interactions, are villagers an evolved version of the player's species? Changed by whatever apocalypse befell the land? Do they know what the player is? The player cannot talk it only visits and chooses kindness or violence. Players are basically cryptids of an old world.

Anyways all that would be cool if explored i think 👀

so you wanna know who the fuck these banana bread guys are?

i think the mcyt toxic yaoi/yuri poll has put a lot of attention on us bnbers (because of how hard we campaigned last round) and i wanted to make this post in case anyone was interested in checking them out!

Banana & Bread are two mcyt who share one channel together, started in 2022. they do mostly speedruns with a twist (eg sharing controls, without using a keyboard, random potion effects every minute etc.). the main appeal of them to me is that it's just two guys fucking around and having a good time! none of their speedruns are that good, all of their "speedruns" take at least an hour* (so it's not too intense if you aren't into speedrunning)

*i put an asterisk here because most of their speedruns aren't good. it is definetly worth noting that banana is an actual speedrunner, and has has 6 world records in low% and all advancements. they also have a co-op all advancements speedrun, but that one isn't very good (18+ hours), it's just a world record bc there's no other speedrun in the category. they have videos on all their speedruns if you're intrested in those!

they've got a couple of inside jokes/bits (carrot and cake, "who's that!", cursed furnace etc) but you'll get most of them through just watching their stuff. everything they have is just on youtube, and the only other place they interact with fans is through posting fanart on their instagram, so you haven't missed anything anywhere!

If you're looking for a place to start, I recommend "the kinkiest speedrun ever..." (my first video of theirs)

or if you want more toxic yaoi, "Minecraft But We Can't Jump" (trust me on this one)

ok, but who are they?

both are faceless and nameless! so they just go by Banana and Bread respectively, which are actually nicknames they have had long before the channel started. which is a fun coincidence that together they make banana bread!. they have done some irl stuff ("The WORST Valentine's Dates..." might be a good one to start with), but they don't show their faces for them.

banana has been playing minecraft for ~12 years now, and is pretty good at most aspects of the game! he's built and coded 2 minecraft maps (they have videos on these too), as mentioned before had 7 total speedrun world records, and codes pretty much any twist in any speedrun they do (where relevant). bread! only got minecraft 2 years before they started the channel and so is none of those things! he's improved a lot since they started making videos but. he's just there to look pretty /j

when watching banana bread videos, i think it is VERY important to remember that they're sitting next to each other irl on the ground playing on laptops. this is especially obvious in earlier videos.

why should i care about them?

idk! they're just two silly guys having a fun time! they feel very genuine! they have such good chemistry and you can really tell that they'd be having the same banter regardless of if they were making a video. also, i don't think they care about getting demonitised or anything they do not give a fuck if they're not family friendly. they swear and make nsfw jokes all the time which is very refreshing in mcyt. idk they're genuine feel and scuffed vibe was really refreshing the first time i watched their stuff and really helped me love mcyt again.

also they're super gay

in both their scripted manhut bts and their QnA video they bring up how a lot of people ask if they're dating or not, and then actively avoid answering the question. they're just queerbaiting us on purpose now :( i love it though it's fantastic. yes its toxic <3

I think if I could give the QSMP team one piece of advice, it would be to hire someone who's a really good and experienced TTRPG gamemaster as a consultant

That's a very specific and difficult skill to acquire (I definitely couldn't do it) but it could do so much for the storytelling and the events. Even just small things that an experienced GM could tweak subtly because they know how to direct or redirect players smoothly in the directions they want them to go, without having to force it

And they would probably be able to predict certain player reactions and prepare for them better

I mean obviously it's not all transferable to this format, livestreamed Minecraft roleplay is very different from a tabletop roleplaying game, but I think a lot of it would be, understanding player psychology, etc.

And I get the feeling that the current admin team is maybe more experienced in like video game design? or maybe Minecraft adventure map design? rather than a fully interactive medium (I mean it would make a lot of sense to hire adventure map designers for a project like this, and it definitely seems like they have people who are very talented at those kinds of skills, so I'm assuming that was a priority in their recruitment efforts)

My point is, having a different perspective would help, I think, and good GMs are still such an underrated talent

alfred: i don’t believe he can physically interact with computers

barbara: there’s always one person in the group who can do redstone and here it’s her. builds all the farms everyone loves having at the beginning of the game like the ender ender and a villager trading hall. as usual everyone would fucking die without her. servers she doesn’t join never really get off the ground for the most part because everyone is so used to having her farms on hand and gets lazy to play without them. would probably really enjoy elaborate progression mods like feed the beast

bruce: doesn’t get it. “what are you supposed to do?” “just whatever i want? that sounds silly.” if he gave it a chance i think it could be great for his mental health. i mean mining is basically meditation let’s be real. but let’s also be real he would try it for 5 minutes 30 if his kids really did the puppy eyes and then he would wander away and get killed by a zombie

cass: hard to say, honestly. depends on from what angle the game would be presented to her. she would probably enjoy the hanging out and the cozy atmosphere but she doesn’t strike me as the type to enjoy very grindy games beyond mindless resource gathering. she’d like hopping on the batfam server while everyone else is online and dicking around but alone i think she would just wander the landscapes aimlessly without progressing the game much.

damian: he’s collecting all the animals. 2.000 dogs and no sign of stopping. at least just as many cats. has wrangled half the passive mobs into his house, which is a wooden cube with a roof. it should be ugly but mostly it’s just really charming. i think he would enjoy the foxes

dick: also doesn’t get it. i think he’d prefer story based games or just straight up board games. he would enjoy the communal aspect and if someone introduced him to hypixel or something he would like that but i can’t see him enjoying casual minecraft unless it was a story based adventure map of some kind. he might like blightfall

duke: stacked. plays the game and plays it well. he has netherite armour while everyone else is just getting iron. he just strikes me as a minecraft kid. only other person who’s halfway decent at redstone, but only uses it to make cursed contraptions that give everyone else a headache.

jason: not the most impressive builds or the best with pvp but he likes to explore and creates really elaborate beautiful storylines into all his builds and the environments he cultivates that end up dragging half of the others into the plot. the kid who built fences around villages to protect the citizens from monsters. would enjoy mods that expand the minecraft world like better end.

stephanie: would play with incredibly silly mods that are all only working together with glue and hope. finding incredibly niche categories of speedrunning to complete just for fun; she actually gets briefly famous for setting a decent world record in something and would probably have many twitch followers if she didn’t already have med school and vigilante work to manage. maybe in another life

tim: doesn’t understand the term sandbox game and refuses to learn. he logs on and starts playing achievement hunter. not necessarily in a speedrunning way, but he does play the game like it has a tasklist. perpetual dirt hut tenant. either that or his unsupervised internet access as a child has lead to minecraft youtuber trauma

Vi - I think she’d be a really good debater, if she were to do it. Something a few people have noticed is that she wins all the arguments she has with Caitlyn, and most of the ones she has. Not meaning every season 2 interaction she has with Jinx, she pretty much gets cooked there. Aside from her sister though, she’s a pretty good arguer. This one’s less based on evidence but I think she’d be pretty good at spotting flaws within buildings, maybe because she was a thief?

Caitlyn - I think she’d have grandparent hobbies and be really good at crosswords, chess, word puzzles, etc etc. I don’t think she’d have a lot of trade skills, but anything your grandma does before bed? Fucking immaculate at. Caitlyn kills it at Tetris 0 doubt. She’d also definitely have the patience and shooting skill for hunting.

Jinx - a lot of random skills seem in character for her, but the thing about Jinx is that she’s not naturally gifted at things (her inventions for example). For her to get good at something, it needs to be something she cares about. From then on she’s set. That being said: Escape rooms, very specific video games, fixing any piece of tech, hacking computers, and stealing the personal information of the elderly via Facebook.

Ekko - Parkour and puzzle solving / skill intensive games. I think he’d also be good with maps, like really good. I think he’d could look at a city map for a few seconds and instantly figure out where you are, the fastest route to where you’re going, and all of the things you might be interested in on the way. Kind of going hand-in-hand with parkour, but climbing too. I think he and Vi would have a blast trying to climb the highest building the fastest.

Jayce - I know the common fandom version of Jayce is Dumb Himbo, but if you watch the show closely you see that he’s actually a prodigy at most things he tries. Science, politics, police raids, fighting children etc. I think most things he could just pick up somewhat easily, so it’s hard to tell where his real skills are at until he starts getting excited about them. I think he’d be great at cooking, making drinks, most trade skills, and American football specifically though.

Viktor - Making plans and organizing trips. He’d have a very specific itinerary that was perfectly tailored to the time, traffic, and amount of people in a place. Of course the robotics and coding and skills like that, that hardly needs to be said. Like Caitlyn I also think he’d kick ass at Tetris and chess. More on that point, he’d be great at card games and board games. Never challenge him to Catan, you’ll lose.

Mel - Great in social games that depend on your ability to convince and negotiate with other players. Why should you give her your 12 diamonds in Minecraft? Well she seems to have a perfectly reasonable explanation, and you trust she has your best interests at heart. I know the game’s old news by now, but she’d be great in Among Us. I think also she’d be a great designer, for some reason. For houses, clothes, whatever you can think of. Also if you’re her friend, she could definitely stalk your crush on insta for five minutes and get you everything you need to know about them.

music! my favourite bands when i'm big are twenty one pilots, waterparks, fall out boy, and my chemical romance. when i’m tiny, i like to listen to disney songs, cavetown, and lullabies. 

tv shows/movies! when i'm big i really enjoy horror movies (my favourite movie of all time is saw) and my favourite tv show is supernatural, but when i'm tiny i love to watch bluey, winnie the pooh (any of them), studio ghibli films, and other low stimulating shows and movies!

bugs! i do not like bugs (especially spiders). i don’t mind things like plushies or cartoon ones, but real ones cause me anxiety. please refrain from showing me any bugs! 

loud noises/yelling! i’m autistic and have sensory processing disorder. loud noises and yelling make me very overstimulated very quickly, especially while i’m regressed! 

swearing! i don’t typically mind swearing, but when i’m regressed, i do not want to hear those kinds of words. i don’t mind if you swear on your account, as that’s your own choice, but please don’t bring it onto mine or into my dms (without permission).
