Does anyone else have a bad habit of taking toxic characters/relationships, pulling a Hallmark, and shoving a found family trope down their throats?

Hey, I just wanted to share something I found on YouTube. It’s an animatic lyric video to a song called Sisters to Strangers by Lydia the Bard.
https://youtu.be/BzRRfu0075Y?si=ij3HdZDZ4Gk5yVHq
It made me think of your head cannon version of Lou and Ox’s relationship, especially after reading your recent head cannon post today. I just thought maybe you could play around with the idea of this song in your fan fictions. It’s just a recommendation, though. If you don’t want to, that’s totally fine. I just hope you give the song listen because it’s really beautiful! Anyway, keep up with the work!
I listened to it when you sent this ask and absolutely loved it-
And then proceeded to get distracted like always.
It did bring up some headcanons that I have though, not just regarding Lou. Because I realized, whilst watching the video, that I had some headcanons for how Lou had coped or handled Ox not being in the Institute any more, but not about how Ox had coped being away from Lou for the first time.
💚 Ox's first night in the place where Uglyville would one day be was absolutely horrible. It was his first time sleeping alone, and being under the stars just reminded him of the nights when he and Lou would have their long talks on the roof of his mansion.
💚 Luckybat was the next to show up, and that was how Lucky became the therapist of sorts for everyone at Uglyville. He had been Ox's therapist first.
💚 Ox, whilst making the designs for houses and the like in Uglyville, intentionally chose the most outlandish designs for the sake of not having something that would remind him of Perfection (and by extension, Lou).
💚 The reason why we see Ox constantly keeping himself busy in the movie is because it's what he's been doing all those years as a way to not dwell on the "what-ifs" regarding Lou.
ALSO ALSO-
Speaking of Luckybat being Ox's "therapist" since arriving, I have another headcannon that Lucky had actually known the whole story all along.
During the "Ugly Truth" song, he's the only one in the group that isn't completely infatuated with everything going on. He looks uncomfortable, like he KNOWS that they don't belong there and what happened to Ox.
He explains who Ox is to Lou, but I feel like it's a cover up for Ox's sake. Ox had sworn him to secrecy, which is another reason why Lucky had so adamantly tried to dissuade Moxy from going in the first place.
When Ox is revealed later on in the movie, the others are surprised, but here's the thing. Moxy and UglyDog gasp in shock and are staring at Ox when Lou says the whole "maybe you'll believe him" bit. Wage and Babo are in shock as well as they look at each other...
But Lucky isn't looking at Ox. He looks straight at Moxy to see how she will react to this revelation.
Another thing that I noticed is that when Ox reveals that he knew the Big World was real all along, we don't get to see LuckyBat's reaction. In fact, the rest of that scene plays out with us not seeing his expressions to the revelations or story.
Idk, just a random headcannon in my mind. But I really feel like Lucky knew all along and was working with Ox to keep the secret during the building and founding of Uglyville.

Omg please make a part 3 on factory defaulttt
This has been in my inbox for a while (obviously) but I feel bad discarding it just because I already posted part 3. Multiple of you had been asking for more parts to Factory Default and while I could have deleted them after updating, finally, I just feel bad doing that.
So, I'm going to attach the fifth part to this ask, whoever you are, my good friend.
----------
Ox had expected a smooth walk to the pipe, at least. Realistically, the whole endeavor, prior to entering the creator's office, should have been a cake walk. Unfortunately, he neglected to consider who he was traveling with.
For starters, despite actively complaining just about every step of the way, Wage was determined to tag along on this adventure. Whether it was for their sake or for her own sake of being able to complain his ears off, Ox didn't know. Nor did he have the brain power to try and figure it out because Tuesday and Mandy were building up a tension between each other.
Lou, obviously, knew absolutely nothing about basic interactions. Whether it be hugging, common phrases or slang, or a simple wave. So, upon finding this out, Tuesday decided she would be the one to teach him the ropes whilst they walked.
Her idea of teaching him, however, involved interactions that were entirely platonic in Lou's eyes and...not so much in hers. She was currently holding his hand, fingers laced together and showing him that dolls sometimes walked hand-in-hand.
No, they didn't.
Not even Moxy, the most extroverted doll in the present group, held hands with another doll unless she was dragging them off on an escapade. And, surprisingly enough, Ox felt like he was doing most of the dragging this time.
Moxy was more entertained - and perhaps slightly worried - about the death glares Mandy and Tuesday exchanged with each other. It was clear that Mandy didn't appreciate Tuesday's teaching techniques and knew for a fact there was more to it than just "being a good person."
And whilst Ox couldn't exactly say he was fond of her methods either, it didn't quite bother him to the same extent. Lou was still...well, oblivious, and it would take much more patience than Tuesday had if she were to keep up this tactic of hers for the sake of a one-sided relationship.
Tuesday had always been all over the blond because he had been suave, charming, and seemingly a ladies man...
Which, in his current state, he lacked all of the qualities.
And the blue-haired doll was slowly beginning to realize that.
"Doesn't this feel nice?" Tuesday asked him with a bright smile, swinging their joined hands slightly as they walked. She ignored the under-her-breath groan from Mandy, who was walking a bit behind them.
Lou glanced down at their hands and then back up to Tuesday, his usual, innocent expression not wavering in the slightest. "Your hand feel normal." Ox didn't bother correcting the blond's grammar. He'd save it for another time.
Tuesday tried to keep that same smile on her face. "Yeah, but it feels nice, doesn't it? Like a good thing?" She tried to clarify what she meant to the best of her abilities.
Unfortunately, her abilities at understanding things was also limited. They were basically two idiots holding hands, at this point.
"Is holding hands a good thing?" Lou inquired with a tilt of his head.
Ox actually nearly choked on a laugh as Tuesday's smile tensed in agitation slightly. Having her own obliviousness thrown back at her was satisfying, at any rate, but she seemed more peeved over the fact that Lou wasn't getting it.
"Yeah, holding hands is a good thing," Tuesday spoke with a slightly impatient tone.
A flash of green light beneath Lou's felt gave her hope that he was finally getting it...
And then it crashed twice as fast when Lou looked over his shoulder to Mandy and offered his other hand to her. This would be his way of proving that he was a good doll! "Hold hands?" He asked with bright eyes.
Mandy was a bit taken aback at first, but her expression softened and she accepted the offer, her fingers entwining with his and sending a not-so-subtle grin over at Tuesday.
Lou was none the wiser and had a proud smile on his face for "being a good doll."
Ox rolled his eye, smiling a bit as he watched it play out. Even with his memory erased and the lack of his charm and charisma, Lou was still having women fight over him - whether said women realized it or not. Tuesday was, in any case, he wasn't so sure about Mandy.
They approached the opening of the pipe. Nothing but darkness ahead and absolute silence that accompanied it. Ox ushered Lou towards the front to stand beside him. Relinquishing both hands he held onto, Lou complied and was a bit caught off guard when Ox gestured for him to go ahead. "You'll be leadin' the way, bud. Show us where to go."
"Lead?" Lou inquired, his hands drawing up towards his chest a bit in nervous habit, fingers tapping together.
Ox squinted an eye, not quite knowing if Lou didn't know the definition or if he was didn't want to lead. "Yeah, lead. Y'know, like to...take charge or...uh-"
"To be the boss of, basically," Wage supplied with a somewhat bitter tone.
There was no green flash beneath Lou's felt, which told Ox that the former theory had been false. Lou shook his head and took a shy step back, putting Ox ahead of him. "I do not lead. I am teacher," he put a hand to his chest in gesture to himself.
Well...that was new.
Michael couldn't stop the sound that escaped him, something mixed between a laugh and a scoff. "You- Okay," he shook his head to remind himself that this Lou was all kinds of different from the one they were used to. "Look, teachers can lead, too. We don't know how to get to your creator, but you do. So, you have to show us the way."
"Guide?" Lou asked, his eyes widening a smidge as he recognized the similar definition of a word he was familiar with.
Michael snapped his fingers in approval at the word. "Yes! Guide. You're not leading, you're guiding. Okay?"
That was something he could do, yes. Part of his job was to guide dolls through the training and to the Big World. He could guide. "Yes. Okay." Lou nodded his head once and began walking into the pipe. The others gave various looks of relief and followed behind him.
They remained quiet, so Lou could focus on his counting as they walked. Ox was watching the blond the whole time, taking note of how Lou's eyes remained fixed ahead and every step was taken in confidence. It was a stark contrast to how he had acted when he was told to "lead" versus him "guiding" now.
Almost like that's what he was made to do.
The bunny felt a pang go through his chest as he realized that they had stripped him of that. Sure, at some point during Lou's life, he had in fact gone from simply guiding to leading - bossing, more like - but they had still taken away his one purpose.
His one purpose in a world he was stuck in.
Ox forced the thought to the back of his mind when they approached an opening at the end of the pipe they were currently walking through. There was a dim, orange-ish glow up ahead and the sound of machinery began to grow louder. He worried briefly that Lou had just accidentally led them to the recycle-
No, not led, guided.
Lou stopped at the edge of the pipe and that's when Ox realized that it wasn't the recycle, but the exact opposite. Below was the actual factory itself. The place where the dolls were manufactured in mass amounts and sent off to their respective institutions.
Both Mandy and Moxy shivered as they watched the lifeless dolls on the conveyer belts. It was...eye-opening, to say the least. Like a child watching another child being born and coming to terms with the fact that it had came into the world in the same manner. Except the dolls had been lifeless during the beginning process.
There were cutouts of each form. Each doll. Printed, molded, steamed together and tossed onto a conveyer belt.
And the ones that didn't make it past the quality control were sent onto an adjacent belt that would have normally led to the recycle/Uglyville.
At what point the future dolls gained consciousness was a mystery, and one they felt too unnerved to dig into.
Ox blinked and suddenly came back to the present when he noticed Lou clambering off the edge of the pipe. "Woah, hey-" his words were cut short, however, when Lou fluidly let go of the edge, landed on the balls of his feet, and rolled sideways before standing upright again.
The others gaped.
"Wha-" Michael watched as Lou regained his original posture, arms behind his back and innocent eyes looking up towards the group.
"Follow?" Lou asked, wondering why they were just staring at him.
Luckybat and Ox exchanged a look before slowly making their way to the edge of the pipe and proceeded to try and climb down to where Lou was. Michael simply stared with wide eyes still. "Are we not gonna talk about that? How does he know how to do that?"
"Instinct?" Moxy supplied awkwardly, not quite sure herself.
Michael squinted down at her. "That's...somehow worse. Why does he just instinctively know how to land from a fall that high?"
"If there's anything I learned about Lou since knowin' him," Ox grunted out as he landed roughly onto the platform below, "it's that the kid is full of surprises. I think that's a can o' worms best opened another day."
Michael pursed his lips, sending another confused and slightly worried look in Lou's direction before finally following suit with the others and climbing down from the pipe.

I'm mainly posting this because I have to test something, but here's how the reference sheet is going so far.
I'm using natural blond colours just cause I can and it makes the drawings more vintage-looking
IDK, I like it.

Don't know where this motivation has been but BOY AM I GLAD TO HAVE IT BACK
Anyway, I have a bad habit of starting a drawing and never finishing it, so consider this snippet of a sketch my way of trying to finish it. I'm practicing backgrounds, so when I say this is a snippet I mean like a legit snippet.

Hi!!! Can you continue the factory default. Its really good!! I kinda wonder what if Lou meet the spy girls(and maybe Nolan?).
I think it would be pretty funny.Like, the spy girls heard the gossips about Lou coming back and try find out if its true. And it was. When they met face to face, the spy girls were shock, scared( maybe) and mad at the same time. The spy girls was about to cast Lou out but Ox stop them.Ox then explain to the girls about Lou condition. Some of the girls didn't believe him and thought that Lou was acting innocent except Tuesday.Tuesday kind of take advantage of this.Like trick Lou into thinking that he did something soo bad to her and Lou try to have Tuesday fogiveness since he wanted to prove that he's a good doll.Lou then turn into a romantic gentelmen as he do everything Tuesday ask him to.Like, kiss her cheeck, gives hes flower and all sort of that as she said that everything he did was a good doll doing. Its like the table turn around where Lou looks like he obsessed with Tuesday.
Well, that was pretty long.I hope this is okay and sorry for my grammar.English is my second language.Have a good day/afternoon/night!!
I don't know if I'll get to this point in the story in this part or not, I really just am kind of using this ask as a means to "answer" is whilst posting another part to Factory Default.
But I like this idea! And yes I will incorporate it in some manner, just probably not to the same extent because Lou is, well, oblivious to what romantic actions are and how to do them, so ultimately I think Tuesday would use "teaching" him as an excuse to get really lovey-dovey with him without the other realizing it.
------------
Ox nearly missed the coffee cup the following morning. His body jerked slightly to quickly abort the action before he shook his head, reassessed his hand-eye coordination, and finished pouring himself a cup of hot coffee.
Sleep had not come easy to him.
Not because he'd been worried or stressed. No, being a mayor of two different types of dolls makes one accustomed to such feelings. It was because a certain blond had refused to go to sleep. Not even acknowledging the fact that Lou had refused to change into something as simple as pajamas - something about rules, Ox didn't know what he'd been blabbering about - but because Lou was adamant that he wasn't supposed to sleep.
It was something about those stupid rules he kept spewing out like scripture.
Ox didn't understand it, and he would have asked Lou about them, but something told him the blond didn't entirely understand his blind faith either. He upheld those rules he preached and had no basis behind any of them other than "my Creator told me to."
It came to Ox's attention that Lou had never just innately known wrong vs right and had simply based all of his morals on a set of rules his creator had given him. Which explained many, many things, in the context of the old Lou's actions.
"What is that?" Said blond asked curiously, standing beside Ox with his arms folded neatly behind him and full eyes fixed on the strange liquid that the bunny nearly spilled again.
Ox jolted slightly, having not heard Lou even approach. The kid's footsteps were almost silent if one wasn't paying attention. Or half awake, in Ox's case. "It's called coffee," Ox answered after recomposing himself, his voice a bit rough from sleep - or lack thereof.
"Caw-fee," Lou tested the word on his tongue, but there was no green light from his microchip. Apparently Lou didn't learn by example or pictures, he learned by definition. Which also explained a lot.
Ox decided to supply him with a definition. "It's a type of drink that gives ya energy."
Coffee: a type of drink that gives energy.
The green flash finally appeared where Lou's chip was embedded and his eyes lit up at having learned such crucial information about the world he lived in.
"Like a Model 12 drink?" Lou inquired again, trying to piece together just what exactly this "coffee" thing was.
Ox furrowed his face for a moment at the question, not quite understanding where Lou got it from. It took a moment for him to realize that Lou was basing that inquiry of the word "type" that he had used. Lou probably only associated the word from "doll type Model 12."
"Ah, no, well," Ox teetered his head, pouring Lou a cup of coffee as well and setting the pot back into the coffee machine. "Model 12 dolls can drink coffee, but anyone can drink coffee.
Coffee: Can be drunken by anyone.
Another green flash of light.
"May I have cup?" Lou asked, head tilting this time as he copied the way Ox had teetered his head.
Ox, of course, already had one prepared, but the polite phrasing of the question was cute anyway. He gave Lou a tired smile. "Do you like sweet or bitter?"
Lou didn't know what either of those words meant.
The bunny trilled his lips. This was going to be a long day. "Y'know what, nevermind," he rolled his eye and went to the fridge to grab the creamer. If he remembered correctly, Lou loved sweet things. Which was ironic, considering his personality.
His current personality, though, was definitely sweet.
Lou copied the way Ox had picked up his mug and drank it in the same manner the bunny did. He instinctively recoiled, though, and stuck out his tongue. "Hurt," he shook his head, gingerly setting the cup back onto the counter.
"Oh, sorry, I guess it's still hot," Ox quickly filled a small glass of water and handed it to Lou. At least the blond knew what water was and didn't ask questions.
"Hot?" Lou asked after sipping the cooler liquid.
"Like...," boy Ox was going to need a dictionary at this rate. He rolled one hand through the air, the other holding his own cup, as he searched for the proper definition. "What you just felt. That's hot," he gestured lamely to Lou's cup of coffee, having found no better way to explain that didn't use synonyms for 'hot'.
Hot: something that hurts.
A flash of green appeared again beneath Lou's felt and Ox had to wonder if it did that whenever Lou learned the correct thing, or if it did that if he learned anything at all. Which meant Ox was going to have to be careful with what he taught. If Lou had no sense of right and wrong, then he also had no way of distinguishing truth and lies.
Which also explained a lot.
Lou sat down on the edge of the couch with his coffee in both hands, eyeing the steam curiously and wondering if there was any connection between the two states of matter.
Another thing that came to Ox's attention was that Lou didn't seem to come to his own conclusions. It appeared that he solely believed and learned only that which was strictly taught to him, but he learned nothing of his own.
Which meant that the solid rock beliefs he had had a vice grip on prior to his factory reset was taught to him and not something he had chosen to believe. Lou didn't even entirely understand what the word "ugly" meant.
It seemed that every new discovery just led to more questions.
"Maybe his creator was teaching him that stuff?" Moxy had suggested once everyone finally communed back at Ox's house, later that morning. Her and Ox stood by the wayside, where the kitchen and living room joined together, separated only by the line where the kitchen tile and carpet met.
Ox didn't respond for a moment, physically or verbally, but it was apparent that Moxy's theory was the only one they could really lean on for the moment. Whoever Lou's creator was, he seemed to have a strong influence - and was quite possibly the only influence - on the blond doll.
Lou was currently being entertained by Mandy and the Spy Girls - the latter of which had heard the rumors around Imperfection that Lou was back, and they had to see for themselves. The blond had Mandy's glasses on his face. While the old Lou would have neither wanted to try them on nor would he have gotten permission to wear them, Mandy couldn't resist the innocent curiosity he was exuding and had slid them onto his face.
Ox made a mental note to get Lou a pair of glasses after all this was over. The blond was both adorable in them and seemed to actually have impaired vision, if his sudden surprise to his old-yet-new surroundings were anything to go by.
"You have frozen time on your wall!" Lou had exclaimed with a glance in Ox's direction, one hand pointing both innocently and excitedly towards a picture frame hung on the far wall in the living room.
"It's a picture, bud," Ox corrected with an endeared smile.
A flash of green beneath Lou's felt.
Picture: a frozen moment of time hung on a wall.
Lou hummed and continued observing his not-new surroundings. Ox had to admit that this version of Lou had an odd way of titling things. It was as if Lou knew what something was, like he'd seen it before, but had never put a name to it.
Then it clicked.
Either Lou still had bits and pieces of his original memory, or the objects he was already familiar with were things he'd seen during his second awakening with his creator.
Both options were beneficial to getting Lou's memory back, but it would have to be tested somehow.
"Lou," Ox spoke up suddenly, drawing the blond from his observations.
"Louis," Lou corrected innocently, for the umpteenth time.
Ox merely gave a short sigh and a smile before continuing. "Do you remember where you were when you first woke up?"
"With my creator," he answered simply.
"Yeah, but where," Ox stressed, not quite knowing how to clarify his question further should Lou still not understand.
Lou blinked, his eyes darting around as if the answer to Ox's question was somewhere in the room. His eyes, still aided by the glasses on his face, pinpointed the picture again and he pointed whilst returning his attention to Ox. "There."
Everyone gave him various looks of confusion. Wage merely gave a look that clearly suggested she thought he was stupid. Ox understood, however, as he nodded and smiled as a means of showing Lou he had done a good job. "Alright. What else? Can you find where again?"
'Where', in Lou's mind, meant pinpointing things that had been in the place he recalled. Each object was a clue to exact setting he had reawakened in.
Lou pursed his lips, driven by the directive and supportive smile of the bunny. His eyes darted around again and he pointed this time to the window. "There."
Window. Picture.
"Light," Lou spoke a word this time for the 'where', already knowing what light was, thank God, because Ox dreaded to think how he would have had to explain something as elementary as light.
The blond pointed to the TV and opened his mouth to say something, but Mandy connected the dots at the same time Ox did.
"A computer," she looked at Ox with wide eyes, mostly to compensate for her lack of vision at the moment.
"He must've been in an office," Michael continued their train of thought, arms crossed as he watched Lou tilt his head at them.
The blond looked at the TV, keeping his head tilted during the motion. A flash of green lit faintly beneath the felt of his neck. Computer: a large object with a lit picture on it.
Ah, dang it, they'd have to remediate that later. For now, Ox supposed it wasn't doing Lou any harm to think that a TV and a computer were the same thing.
"Which means the hard drive is probably kept at his creator's desk," Michael spoke again. "If Lou was close enough to the computer to see it, then the information we need is near wherever the desk is."
"Again," Wage spoke up, her voice a bit brisk, "we're talkin' like we're gonna go there and just grab it. How big is a hard drive, exactly?"
"Pretty big," Michael shrugged, "but if Babo and someone else helped, it shouldn't be a problem."
"When did you suddenly switch sides?" Moxy questioned, her gaze towards Michael slightly accusing. "I thought you preferred this Lou?"
"Yeah, well, this Lou is almost more trouble than he was before," Michael grumbled, looking the blond up and down in slight contempt. "It's harder to insult him when he doesn't understand half of what I'm saying." Both Moxy and Ox gave him a flat look.
"Whatever sways you, I guess," Moxy rolled her eyes. "So, are we heading in that direction or what? Is this a today thing?"
"We need to make sure that Lou knows exactly where to go, first," Ox shook his head, nodding towards the blond. "I don't wanna just assume he remembered the way back here and end up gettin' lost halfway through a pipe. Especially now that the recycle was unblocked."
"You mean we're trusting him with directions?" Wage jerked an incredulous thumb over at Lou, her eyes on Ox as if the notion was incredibly ridiculous.
Which...it probably was.
"The kid has some kind of photographic memory," Ox reasoned, folding his arms. "Even if he don't learn that way, he remembers things vividly. Like just now," he nodded vaguely towards the TV/Computer. "I wouldn't be surprised if he at least remembered specific landmarks between here and there."
Wage rolled her eyes, teetering her head as she spoke sarcastically. "Yeah, turn left at the pipe, then another left at the other pipe. Oh! And don't forget the pipe that connects to the other pipe right before you enter the fifth pipe."
That...was true. Part of the way there was through the pipes and none of the inner features in it were distinguishable enough to be of use, even if Lou knew which directions he had gone in.
"Thirty-two taps, left," Lou spoke up then, arms folded behind his back and full eyes on Ox. "Forty-seven taps forward, right."
Ox blinked. "What?"
"Thirty-two taps," Lou repeated, moving over to the kitchen before pausing and walking forward in an exemplary manner. The slight heel of his shoes made a tapping noise against the vinyl. He then made a turn towards his left. "Left. Forty-two forward." He took more steps before pausing, not going the whole forty-two, but just enough to make his point.
"He's memorized the distance," Moxy muttered in awe, looking between Lou's feet as he gave his example and the blond himself.
"How do you know that?" Ox quickly asked Lou, a sense of urgency in his tone.
Lou straightened - as if he wasn't constantly upright in his posture - and gestured with a single finger towards his eyes and then ear. "No see. Hear. It was dark."
"And you said he was stupid," UglyDog gave Moxy a sarcastic look over his shoulder.
"Okay, well, can you blame me?" Moxy threw her hands up in exasperation, gesturing towards Lou. "How does he remember any of this, anyway? Who just instinctively counts the steps wherever they go?"
"Rule number forty-eight," Lou responded, arms still behind his back and his words sounding more educated as he repeated what was very likely his version of scripture, "Prototype must be attentive at all times."
Ox's mouth quirked into a grimace at how robotic and brain-washed it sounded whenever Lou recited a rule. He didn't even know where the kid was getting this stuff from, outside of what his creator must have taught him.
"Well, that explains the photographic memory," Wage muttered under her breath.
"We'll use it to our advantage then," Michael was already heading towards the door, wanting to get this escapade over as soon as possible. He paused with a hand on the knob, looking over at the Spy Girls. "You three coming with us?"
Kitty crossed her arms, giving him a smile that suggested that the notion of staying behind was absolutely laughable. "We wouldn't miss a chance to break in somewhere."
"And with Ox's permission, too," Lydia added with a grin over at the mayor.
"We could use the extra pairs of eyes," Ox waved a hand flippantly as he followed Michael out the door, the others following suit. "Just don't get cocky and don't narrate everything you're doin'."
At that last command, both Lydia and Kitty gave Tuesday a look, who in turn just smiled sheepishly.
-------
Okay, so I didn't get to the little tidbit in the ask where there's that moment with Tuesday and Lou. I had planned on sneaking it in, but the story kept moving and it felt too awkward to just shove in that interaction. The next part will have it, though.
I think I just needed a break from the fandom, cause now I'm in a writing mood and have a lot of momentum going for me, so I apologize in advance for the post-spamming. But after so many months of not posting anything, I think I'm past due, anyhow.

hey Factory default is one of my favs, is there anyway you could maybe make a third part?
Alright! Time to actually get back into writing for this fandom again! I had to reread over the first two parts, so let's see how jumping back into works out. -------
They didn't really know how to undo something as permanent as a factory default. Michael, since he was an engineer, had been called over to Ox's house to help figure things out. Needless to say, even though Lou wasn't really a bother nor a threat without his memory, the others weren't too keen on having him over in their homes.
Ox pointedly ignored that fact for the sake of focusing on his former best friend's state. Was it technically current best friend, considering the fact that Lou's memory was erased? Or maybe still former since Lou didn't remember him?
Bah, details.
Michael didn't have the slightest clue about what to do. It had come to their attention that Lou had a microchip embedded into his neck on the right side. Which was a surprise, considering the blond had never mentioned it before.
He had attempted to remove it, but the second he pulled out his pocket knife to do so, Lou had (reasonably) flipped out.
The blond suddenly leaned to the side, knees drawing up to his chest, hands gripping the edge of the dining chair they had sat him on. "What are you doing?" His voice wavered in a way none of them had heard before.
Fear. He had never exuded fear before, aside from maybe when he had been in the dog's mouth.
Michael paused, pocket knife unsheathed and uselessly held in the air where he'd been inches away from Lou's neck. His blue eyes wide as he took in the foreign sight of Lou being afraid. "I'm gonna get to that chip of yours. We have to look at it and see if there's a way to break you again-"
"Michael," Ox chided from his spot beside the blond, arms folded as he watched the scene play out. The others stood by on watch as well, whether for their own entertainment or because they cared, Ox didn't know.
Michael at least had the decency to purse his lips and glance over at the mayor with a somewhat apologetic look. He was mainly just sorry he got chastised. He looked back at Lou, who was eyeing the pocket knife warily. "It's not gonna hurt that bad. Just a quick-"
"You cannot take it!" Lou's voice was higher-pitched now and his eyes stayed fixed on the pocket knife, as if the act alone would keep it from touching him. "I will not live!"
That made everyone pause in various degrees of surprise and confusion. "What?" Michael was the first to recover. "Not...live? I'm not completely eviscerating you, Lou."
Lou didn't know what in the world 'eviscerating' meant, but that didn't sound like something he wanted to experience, either. "Chip gives life," Lou stated, much more firm this time, albeit nervous. "No chip, no life. I will not live."
Realization washed over Ox and he stepped into Lou's panic-stricken view, ears flopping back as a mix of emotions followed the realization. "Not live? You mean die?"
"Die?" Lou echoed, not knowing the word.
Die: to not live.
"Yes. Die," Lou stated this time, his microchip flashing a faint green beneath the felt of his neck as the definition was stored away into his database.
It was something everyone had eventually caught onto the more Lou learned from them. A green flash of his normally blue-glowing microchip meant that he had learned something and the data was stored.
"Why would the microchip be keeping him alive?" Mandy pondered aloud to herself. The others were wondering the same thing. Michael lowered the pocket knife, sliding the blade back into handle and hiding it away in his back pocket again. It wasn't until then that Lou relaxed again.
His feet slowly touched the floor again and Ox made a point to rest his hand on the blond's knee to let him know it was okay. He stood between him and Michael as added comfort. The blue-haired doll had not made a good second-first impression on Lou, after all. Ox addressed the others. "If that chip is keepin' him alive and learnin' info, then maybe that's the key t' gettin' his memory back."
"One would have to access said chip, though," Michael countered with a slightly irritated tone. He really just didn't want to be around Lou, memory or no memory.
The feeling was mutual for Lou.
"No touch," Lou repeated, his voice quieter as his gaze hardened slightly at Michael. The engineer simply jerked his nose upward slightly in a silent scoff before looking back to Ox when he spoke.
"We ain't gonna hurt ya, bud," Ox patted Lou's knee to reassure him before looking up at Michael. "Is there any kinda techno-do-hickey stuff that can access it? Ya'll use computers for this kinda thing, don't ya?"
Michael raised a brow at that, his expression unimpressed with the wording and even more so the suggestion. "I wouldn't be able to access Lou's microchip data. I assume that only whoever created him would have access to that kind of thing. The parent device would be the only thing that can access his information and change it in any way."
Most of that went in one ear and out the other, but Ox basically got the gist of the answer: no.
Moxy piped up with her own suggestion. "Maybe if we showed Lou some things that might trigger his memory?"
Michael shook his head before Ox could naively agree to the idea. "That's not how computers work. If Lou had amnesia, yeah, sure, but factory default means all of his previous data was erased. You can't get anything back unless you saved the data on a hard drive."
Lou sat there quietly, his eyes darting to each person who spoke as they conversed amongst themselves. He could at least gather that they were talking about him, but everything else went over his head. It wasn't until Ox grabbed his attention again that he actually focused on what was being said.
"Do you remember anything about wakin' up? Or what your first memory is?" the bunny asked.
"My Creator was there," Lou answered simply. "He instructed me and sended me here-"
"Sent," Michael corrected dully.
Lou, while not entirely familiar with how facial expressions and emotions worked, sent the engineer an instinctive glare, the closest he's looked to the old Lou since returning.
Sent: the past tense of send.
Lou's microchip flashed green with this knowledge, even if the blond was unaware that the annoying male that had threatened him with a shiny object was the one who had taught him. Michael at least got the satisfaction of it.
"My Creator sent me here," Lou rephrased with a slight bite to his tone that he didn't understand the emotion behind, his gaze going back to Ox. "No further instruction but teach."
"And the rules," Luckybat added, recalling Lou's wonderful memorization earlier at the diner for whatever nonsense he had spewed out.
"I already know rules," Lou stated simply, yet not in a cocky manner - he hadn't acquired that trait yet. "I remember rules-"
"So your creator didn't teach ya that when you woke up?" Ox asked, his confusion growing the longer this conversation went on.
"No," Lou shook his head, equally confused as to why Ox and everyone else seemed confused. "Why teach? I already know."
Michael pursed his lips, not taking his gaze off the blond as he pieced together what was going on. "His creator has a hard drive," he stated simply, bringing everyone's attention back to him. "If Lou already-"
"Louis," the blond corrected, not entirely without spite.
"Lou," Michael repeated with a glare down at the blond, with complete spite, "already knew those rules he was talking about, then his creator must have saved all of his data onto a hard drive. He reset him to factory default, transferred only the information he saw fit to, and then sent him back here."
"So we need that hard drive," Wage muttered, arms crossed as she leaned against the kitchen counter.
"Easier said than done," Michael rolled his eyes. "We don't even know how Lou and the robots go between the Institute and the human's world without the portal."
"We know they took him through the pipes," Ox spoke up, his eye distant as he stared at nothing in particular. "I watched the robots when they left with 'im. Towards where the recyclin' is."
"But that pipe just leads to the recycle and the North of Uglyville," Moxy shook her head.
Michael piped up again. "But if dolls used to be sent straight to the recycle after being made in the factory, then there has to be another branch in the piping somewhere. One that leads to the factory itself."
"Woah, wait, alright," Wage held up her hands, pushing off the counter and standing more towards the centre of the present company. "We're talkin' about this like we're gonna go there and just casually get this hard drive. We don't know anything about who Lou's creator is or if we can even get it."
"We can ask," Moxy shrugged as if it were that simple.
"Ask?" even Mandy echoed this in slight incredulity. "Moxy, I'm all for optimism, but if Lou's creator reset him in the first place, why would he let us access the hard drive to bring his memories back?"
"Mandy's right," Ox spoke up before Moxy could offer some other glass-half-full response.
"Thank you," Mandy sighed, and Wage rolled her eyes in relief that they were being sensible again.
"We'll have to sneak in."
"What!?" Everyone - excluding Lou, of course - exclaimed at Ox's ridiculous suggestion. "You can't be serious," Wage went back to being irritated.
"Sorry if this sounds blunt or rude or whatever," Michael spoke again, one arm crossed whilst the other rolled flippantly in the air to signify that he wasn't actually sorry for what he was about to say, "but is Lou's memory really worth a potential suicide mission?"
"Sewey-side?" Lou echoed. Of course, out of all the foreign words they'd thrown out there thus far, that was the one Lou honed in on.
Ox merely rolled his eye, ignoring Lou's inquiry for the sake of not having to explain that word. He looked up at Michael. "Yes, I'm serious and yes it is worth it. I'd rather have the arrogant jerk back than-" he gestured lamely to the innocent, wide-eyed blond that was watching them in curiosity and confusion.
"And what's so wrong with this?" Wage asked in a biting tone, gesturing to said 'this'. "At least we can actually have a conversation with him without wantin' to pull our stuffing out."
"The kid literally asked us what a kitchen was earlier," Ox gave Wage a flat look.
"Kitchen!" Lou straightened in the chair, a smile on his face as he recalled the newly learned word. "A place where to cook." He looked proud of himself as he looked up at Wage.
Ox merely gave her a wry smile and arched a brow as his point was silently made. Wage sighed and conceded. "Alright, so there's the ups and downs of any situation, but considerin' it's Lou we're talkin' about, I think we have to choose the lesser of two evils here."
"Regardless," Mandy spoke up, taking a step forward to put a pin in the conversation whilst she still had the chance to, "it's getting late and it's not like we're on a time limit to do any of this. If his creator has the data saved, obviously he has a reason for keeping it, so we don't have to figure this all out in one day."
It was silent for a moment before both Ox and Wage silently agreed that they didn't have to come to a conclusion on this debate just yet. Mandy was right, they presumably had time. And, even if they didn't, realistically they couldn't do anything at the moment.
For now, they were stuck with this Lou.

Also, I didn't realize until halfway through writing this and checking the word count that, yes, my voice is different in this part compared to the first two. I checked the date I published the first two parts and it was a few months shy of 2 years ago-
My writing voice has changed a lot since then, understandably, so I'm really sorry that, if you're reading from the first part and then get to this sudden 180 of a narrative, it's a little bit of a slap in the face.
No, I...can't really do anything about it.

Hello!
I have been absent!
Again. So, it's not like this is anything new, but I feel like I have to pop in every now and then and let ya'll know I'm still alive.
I've written down on my handy-dandy whiteboard, in my office, a list of the asks (or, rather, the usernames of those who sent the asks) for me to work on and post over the course of April.
Where I have been?
Uh...So, there's a little show called Hazbin Hotel.
No, I haven't watched it. The only information I have on it is various media, Tik Tok, and just straight up Google. There's a lot about the show that I personally don't have a taste for. My interest in it is legitimately being carried by the religious aspect of it (as in the characters, not the plot or to say that there's anything scripturally biblical in it) and Alastor.
Mainly Alastor.
So, I actually have been dabbling in a story that I almost feel too self-conscious to post because it's my first time writing something in the first person. If I DID publish it, it would be edited to be in the second-person.
But I jut did a word count and I've hit the 150,000 mark...
And, no, I haven't finished it...it's just- I don't know, I had a random storyline in my head, wasn't really that serious about it in the beginning and then it just...yeah.
ANYWHO, whether I publish it or not idk. I don't know how many Hazbin Hotel fans would be interested in a more religiously-focused, found family, very slow-burn AppleRadio, main-protagonist-kinda-gets-adopted-by-Alastor, slice of life kinda story.
My main drive for writing it was mostly because I had skimmed over fanfictions, and with the exception of very few, most of them were just straight up...things I would not read. Which, I wasn't really going in with wholesome expectations, either. So, what I'm writing is basically on the same wholesome level as my UglyDolls writing (or legitimately all my other writing for other fandoms)
BUT, there is more UglyDolls content on the way and I'm very excited to continue The Grass on the Other Side. I've also been working on sketching out specific scenes from the story to post, but all in due time.
ANYWHO- Thanks for taking to time to read this (if you did), despite this not being a post where I'm publishing another part to a story or anything like that. I appreciate those of you who still read my short stories despite the extended hiatus' I go on here and there when my hyperfixation tends to wane.

Okay, so I saw a Pinterest post about UglyDolls (woah) that was something along the lines of: "Lou, as canon, isn't romantically interested in anyone. Yet, in the fanon, he is shipped with every character."
Which is true, but has got me thinking now if Lou could *earnestly* be shipped with every character and it still work?
And I mean work in the sense that, whilst staying in character, it doesn't make the reader wanna vomit or cringe.
So, I'm gonna put up a poll, just cause I'm curious. And, for the record, I'm excluding the main ships which are as follows: Moxy X Lou, Mandy X Lou, Ox X Lou, and Nolan X Lou.
(these are solely based on the amount of fanart/fiction I've seen for the ship)
And now, the poll. The way this is going to work is I want you to pick whichever "side character" or really just the one that he hasn't really been shipped with yet that you would NOT. In a million years. Ever ship him with. Pick the worst one. And if you'd like, tell me why-
Ain't nothin' but a heartbreak-
Okay, anywho, here's the poll and options you have:
If I'm forgetting one and you're fine with all of these potential ships but have another in mind, just comment who I've forgotten!
I put the word "can" for that last one but it really should be "should" cause anything is possible in a fandom, it's just a matter of "should it be done or not."

New! Commissions
Hey Dolls!
I'm trying something new, and a part of me doesn't really expect it to go anywhere, but we'll see what happens. If you look at my pinned post and scroll to the bottom of it, you'll find that I've added something new.
I'm testing out the waters of commissions for art. Rendered art is not yet on there simply because I'm still practicing and studying colour theory in order to get better at rendering my drawings.
My specialties are sketching (obviously) and face-value painting. For those of you that don't know what Face-Value painting is, it's usually done with shades between black and white. I took a class for it in community college and loved it. Here's an example of a Face-Value painting I've done:
Tumblr media
Face-Value paintings are the highest priced option simply because it takes so long to do (at least by hand. Finding the right in-between values should be easier on digital) but I have to graph and number each value on the drawing in order to make it.
Face-Value paintings are also the only ones in which I would need to base the painting off of an actual image, so asking me to do one for an envisioned artwork won't really be possible.
Anywho, I think everything else on the commission list is self-explanatory.
Again, this is experimental and my policy is that you would see the finished product prior to payment because I care more about you being satisfied with what you get than a few measly dollars. The only real reason the payment is implemented is because I'm working towards doing this professionally, and - just like with writing - it never hurts to start with fandoms and hyperfixations.
If you want something that's not UglyDolls, then that works too! Just DM me and I can go over what themes I specialize in (not people, except if it's Face-Value) I suck at drawing people. But if there's another fandom you would like me to draw for, then feel free to ask. I also have original drawings that I've been working on for a few months, my more detailed ones, if ya'll are interested in seeing it. I think I posted them on a separate account @dragonflyer2003
I'll post more of my original works as well as my commissioned works on there as a sort of "portfolio"
Prices are low, by the way, I think. I didn't really research how much people usually charge for commissions. I based it mostly off of how long it usually takes me to produce a drawing of each style and how much I feel comfortable charging (because, let's be real, this is a fandom and why would you pay a tank's worth of gas on a drawing of Lou) So the lowest is $5 USD and the highest is $15 USD.
Again, this is just a test run. Don't feel obligated to DM me or anything, I'm solely testing the waters using this fandom before I plunge into making original artwork and commissioning it.
For any further questions, just DM me!

Got frustrated cause I couldn't draw Moxy the same way I did in another drawing...
So for some reason decided to do physics problem 🤷🏻‍♀️
The worst part was that I showed my husband cause he was confused why I was doing physics on my drawing app and I explained and he jokingly said this:
"Moxy trying to calculate how far she can throw Lou into the recycle"
Thus led the conversation of whether Lou deserved to be recycled and we ended up "agreeing to disagree" 😂
