Chapter 1 - An Intervention
Danny sighed as he walked down the long and almost endless halls of his castle, an aura forming around him in a way that’s almost depressing. Whenever he would pass a ghostly castle worker, they would only nod their heads at him in sympathy. It’s been 2 years since the dreadful Incident. Right down to the very day. The Death Day of everyone in Amity Park… The Death Day of Jack, Maddie, and Jazz Fenton. Although it’s been two years, he still remembers it like it was yesterday. On this specific day, every time he would close his eyes, he would only see the look of saddened determination on his parents’ faces as they pushed him through the Portal. He can only see the look of sister’s face, fearing for him and for everyone else in the room. He can only see the Portal exploding itself shut. The crater that now built the entirety of Amity Park.
It always gets harder as the years go by, even it has been a couple years so far. Danny will never think it can get better so the only way to move on is to work hard to make things better. Primarily for those he is able to help. In this case, it’s his subjects of the Infinite Realms.
Over the course of two years, Danny has worked hard to make the Realms a better place. He decided to throw himself into finishing his studies. He caught up to where he would have been before the Incident and even finished his schooling. He hired specific ghosts whose obsessions is to teach. What better way to fulfill those obsessions than to teach The King of the Infinite Realms? He passed with flying colors over the course of a few months and spent the rest of his time until now studying courses that he would have chosen for college. He learned all that he could about space and the sciences. He’s even learned about businesses and how to create one, not that he would even need it. He figured that because his parents tried so hard to get him into the family business, it would be an homage to them. He supposes that it can help him manage the Realms better. The Observants can be a bit… much, but he’s managed to whip them into shape.
Kind of.
Whatever.
Danny finally stopped in front of his room. A living quarters within the castle grounds. For the second year in a row, he plans on spending this dreadful day in his room mourning the loss of everyone he loved. Before he could even grab the handle to go inside, he could hear voices from behind the door.
“I don't know Kitty, as much as it's a great idea, I don't think he'll agree to this. Like, at all,” Ember's voice sounded concerned.
Kitty responded, her voice booming from beyond the door, “He will! He will! This is the perfect opportunity for him to start getting better!”
“I'm already fine as I am,” Danny sighed as he finally entered his room. “Now, before I ask what the hell you guys were talking about, I am going to ask what the hell you're all doing in my room?”
Danny looked all around his room. Besides Kitty and Ember who were sitting by a table usually for personal meetings, it seems that Skulker is a part of whatever stupid party this is. Skulker’s looking all around the frames that decorated the room, suspiciously looking like he's about to do something. Danny just wants to know what that something is.
Ember scoffed, putting on an innocent look, “What do you mean? This door was perfectly unlocked! For all we know, this could have just been anyone's room!”
The King looked at Ember incredulously before pinching the bridge of his nose. “You've all been in here before. Don't try to think you haven't been here before. Try again. I really don't want to be doing this today, guys.”
“We just wanted to check up on you, little King,” Kitty said after a moment. “Today was the perfect day to do that. You're clearly upset and we're just really good friends that want to make sure you're, like, not gonna lose your mind… or something.”
Danny sighed, relaxing his shoulders, “Or something.”
“Or something! We weren't even talking about anything,” Ember spoke loudly, interrupting whatever Kitty was going to say next, “In fact, we were just leaving. Right, Kitty?” The musician stood up abruptly, almost knocking out the chair she was sitting on.
“The fuck, Ember? We're not just leaving. I don't know why you’re so pressed about this. I'm actually trying to help here. Skulker, do something about your GF!”
Danny made no effort to move around from the front of the doorway, confusion only growing from Ember's unnatural acts and Kitty being her usual self. He turned to look at Skulker, still looking at all the frames in front of him. The frames he’s specifically looking at are of his family. There were only a few photos that he was able to salvage from the Incident, mainly because they were already in the bag that he brought with him to the Infinite Realms. Those frames are the only things he has left before the memory of their faces erases from his memory.
“They both fear you are lonely, ghost child,” Skulker eventually says after an uncomfortable silence, “Kitty has put out the idea that you go back to the Human Realm so that you may be… happy.”
Danny looked at Skulker who only looked back as if he was not the one for negotiation. “We understand that today is, for lack of better terms, not a good day, but Kitty suggests that you can't just sit here and wallow.”
“I-” Ember started, looking guilty, “We just wanted to make sure you're happy, Danny. I think you need more time to rest-”
“Look, kid,” Kitty interrupted, stepping closer to a silent Danny, “Us ghosties are so glad that you've been helping out here in the Realms. Honestly, since Pariah Dark, things have never been better! But you're pulling yourself too thin, Danny. We're worried about you! Pandora is worried about you. CW won't say shit about anything but that's just how he is. Fuck, even Walker is worried about you! Mainly because he wants you to get off his back about the way he likes to control his lair. The ‘Phantom Zone’ he wants to claim it as. Honestly, what's up with that name? Trying to steal your thunder or something? He could've thought of a much better name, like the Buffer Zone or the Still Zone. Oh! Or maybe just Jail? Yeah, maybe Ghost Jail or something.”
“Kitty, you're rambling,” Skulker suddenly spoke, already appearing closer to Ember.
“You're also not saying anything, Rockstar,” Ember then said, rubbing her arm nervously, “Why aren't you saying anything? Like, I need you to give us an opinion or something. Maybe say that ‘Hey, this is a great idea! Thanks Kitty and Ember, I will award you will a bajillion ghost dollars or something.’”
Danny merely stood at the front of his door, really trying to put together everything that they've had to say. While yes, he has been working his ass off just trying to make things better for everyone, he hasn't been putting time for himself at all. He's been fulfilling his obsessions in a way, but he can't do everything he wants inside the Realms. But, people need him. Humans are after him and all of his citizens. He can't just leave.
“I can't just leave,” he finally forms the words. Kitty and Ember's shoulders slump in disappointment. “People need me here. They need a King to rule them. Plus, it’s dangerous for me. I can't leave the Realms anymore. The GIW are still out there and for all we know, they're just waiting for me to show up. I'll be hunted and not in a fun way,” Danny only glances at Skulker before looking back at the two women, “Plus, there's no reason for me to go back. Everyone that ever mattered to me has disappeared or died. I don't see myself going back to the Human Realm unless I am being requested there.”
The three other ghosts looked over at Danny, really trying to process the words he’s said. “So,” Ember started, thinking hard on what to say next “What? You're just gonna say no?”
“Yes, I am just gonna say no. There's no one there waiting for me. There are no tasks that are so big that require me personally to go out.
“What if there is something that needs you to go out? This could be the perfect opportunity for you to just be, well, you,” Kitty said, crossing her arms, “‘Cause I'm not gonna lie, kid, you're kinda insufferable. I can't do shit!”
“Because it's dangerous, Kitty!” Danny raised his voice, finally making an effort to move in his room. His steps seem to drag on the ground, despondent about the topic. “I am doing my best to keep everyone safe. I made an order that no more of my subjects go out to the Human Realm for their own safety. That includes you, Kitty.”
“That's no fun!” KItty crossed her arms, a foot stomping on the ground like a stubborn rabbit. “I haven't been able to enjoy myself and Johnny and I haven't been able to go on our crazy dates!”
“Look,” Danny sighed, now standing in front of the photo frames that Skulker once was, “I don't want to hear this right now. You can file a complaint to Fright Knight. I'm sure he'll gladly help you, but my word is final. No one is to leave the Infinite Realms for their own safety. You know what humans can do.”
Kitty looked at Danny, glaring daggers into the side of his head, “Don't forget you're also human, kid. Even if it's only half. We can all tell that you're not happy.”
“Yeah, Danny,” Ember finally spoke. She and Skulker are standing side by side, not really liking where the conversation is going, “Even Spectra is thriving right now and I can't tell if it's you she's unconsciously feeding off of.”
“Yeah, well, she can go fuck off somewhere. I'm only 19. She's got about a year left before she goes back to her usual self.”
“Ghost child… Danny,” Skulker said. He's not really the one to really address Danny by his name. Hell, he doesn't even call him by his formal title as king. Not that he minds, but still. Danny turns his head to face Skulker who is just standing there awkwardly, “At least visit the human realm. When was the last time you fed into your obsessions?”
Danny didn't answer the question. As much as the guy is kind of insufferable to deal with, Skulker makes a pretty good point. While, in a way, he's been feeding his Protection Obsession, he hasn't really been doing anything about his secondary obsession which is Space. He hasn't been able to look out in the stars even if he knows that there's no way that the GIW will find him in freaking space. He's just afraid that if he goes back out, everything will happen all over again. The pain and the loss. He can't do that again.
“Just leave, guys,” Danny said after a long silence. “I'll think about what you've all said, but don't get your hopes up.”
Ember and Skulker left without an issue, saying their solemn goodbyes. Kitty was the last to leave, but she ended up having the last word, “You're killing yourself, Danny. Quite literally too given that it's been years since you last used your human form. You think your family would like to see you being something you don't like being? Really think about what we've said. Despite everything, it's still you.” Kitty didn't close the door behind her.
Danny now sat in the empty room, the silence ringing in his ears. He knows that his friends make a very valid point but in all honesty, he's scared. He's scared of going outside of his comfort zone. The last time he did something so outrageous, his entire family got killed. The worst part, he didn't avenge them. He’s afraid that if he goes out to the Human Realm, the first thing he'll do is enact revenge. Then, he'll give all the humans a reason to agree with the GIW and all their misinformation.
He looked over to the frames that adorn the room. Really, it barely fits a corner of the wall. They mainly stay on one side of his room right by his bed. That way, he can easily look at them from when he lays in bed. It's not a lot of photos. He can count all of them with just one hand.
“It's been two years,” Danny began to speak, his voice echoing in the empty, “When are you guys finally going to show yourselves? I can't find your ghosts anywhere. That either means you're alive somewhere or you decided to die without any regrets.”
Nothing replies.
“You died not regretting leaving me alone. Just when we finally started being happy together.”
Nobody responds.
“I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing as King. If you guys don't like it, you'll just have to tell me to my face.”
There's no one else there.

…man, imagine joining the GIW without knowing its true details. That subsequent realization would be a hell of a trip
“Take that, Dad, I told you my ghost hobby wasn’t worthless! Secure government paycheck, here I come!”
“…Wow, that’s a lot of NDAs”
“Why am I being armed? I thought I was here to do, like, lab work? …For if one of the subjects escapes!? What the hell am I going to be working on?!”
“Why– why is there a child in that cell?”
*sprinting through the hallway while alarms blare* “fuck fuck fuck i don’t want to die i just want to study ghosts not become one!”

DPxDC Mechanical Engineer Danny
Danny caught the attention of Batman while studying at Gotham University for his alternative energy projects. He’s hired right out of college to work on the Watchtower.
He shows absolutely no tell of his abilities till there’s a dire situation- Flash’s electric discharge messes with one of his projects in progress and the whole base would have lost air pressure if he hadn’t done a quick fix using telekinesis and ice.
Of course Batman notices.
Batman assumes the worst- he suspects Danny’s a rogue of some kind, someone who has infiltrated the Justice League with an ulterior motive. But he can’t just fire Danny now- he’s the only one who knows how the new Watchtower energy source works. Plus, he’s not letting Danny go anywhere until he’s figured out his true motives.
Cue Batman subtly testing Danny- tossing things at him to trigger inhuman fast reflexes, having him lift too-heavy machinery, setting up convenient opportunities to steal or snoop or otherwise be up to no good. Danny does take advantage but only once, to use a computer terminal with unlocked clearance. He didn’t plant any bugs that Barman could find, and he otherwise kept up his powerless civilian act perfectly.
Still, Batman’s not satisfied. He brings an infrasonic sound emitter to Danny’s lab one day, and that, of all things, is what gets Danny to break.
“I know what you’re doing,” Danny admits with a sigh, finally. “If you’re really that suspicious of me, I can leave, but I kinda like my job so I’d prefer not to. The benefits are insane compared to what’s standard.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Sure. yeah. How about you turn off the freaking noise generator and we can talk?”
“Hm.” Batman obliges, and he takes the stool next to Danny at his gesture.
“Number one, I’m not a meta. Despite all the data and conclusions you’ve probably drawn otherwise. Number two, I’m on your side. I’m here to work on the base, that’s it. I follow your rules to the letter.”
“The-“
“The classified files I looked at? Yeah that was the one exception. You already know what I looked at, I’m sure, but maybe you haven’t figured out why. It goes back to point one- I may not be a meta, but I am something that organization, the GIW, cares about. I looked at your files on them to sus out your relations. Seeing as I don’t particularly love being the victim to twelve degrees of human rights violations if I can avoid it.”
“Hm.” The Ghost Intelligence Ward was one of many government agencies that the Justice League hadn’t worked closely with. But they also hadn’t been flagged for Justice League investigation. Danny’s comments made him doubt that call.
“Any other questions?”
“If you’re not a meta, what are you?”
“I’m an engineer. A pretty decent one. And I’d really, really like it to stay that way.”
Batman considers, and ultimately lets him stay. He likes Danny (everyone likes Danny), and it would be a massive pain in the ass to replace him. He really is a good engineer.
It’s only much later that his faith in Danny is repaid in spades.
Batman finds Danny on the Watchtower command bridge. Alarms are blaring, the station has been knocked out of orbit, out the window there’s shrapnel floating everywhere as a space battle rages around them.
On the station it’s chaos. Technicians run around, shouts from the med bay, sparks from the walls.
Batman and Danny stand at the main controls, watching the battle outside, stoic, unmoving.
Wonder Woman’s harried voice crackles through on coms: “We need backup.”
“There is no more backup.” Batman replies, while looking pointedly at Danny.
“What?”
Batman doesn’t move.
“What.”
“The impact from Darkseid’s initial attack should have sent this station on a terminal trajectory toward the planet.”
“Well. We aren’t currently plummeting to our deaths, so turns out it didn’t do that.”
“You did something.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You’re lying.”
“Maybe Superman nudged us back on course in all the chaos.”
“I’ve been watching the trackers. No one else with the capability has come near the station.”
“Can’t you just be grateful we got lucky?”
Sounds of peril screech over the coms. Danny’s face scrunches.
“Luck had nothing to do with it. As it is now, we are going to lose this fight.”
“Isn’t there anyone else you can call?”
“I’m asking you. You can help, can’t you?”
The glare-off lasts a long moment more before Danny breaks.
“Fuck. Fuckity fuck.” Danny runs his hands through his hair. “Shit. You don’t know what you’re asking.”
“I’m asking you to save this and countless other worlds from a genocide. I’m also asking you to save my friends.”
Danny looks at him, hard, weary, and with a kind of deep resolve that feels far too ancient to be on the face of a supposed twenty-something.
“Fine. Fine. Okay.” He steps back and transforms. If Batman is surprised when he shakes off his human appearance like an old coat, he doesn’t show it. But what’s undeniable is the being in Danny’s place has the unmistakable presence of power.
“No one else can know.” His voice echoes in a way that’s sonically impossible, both sounding closer and further away than he should be.
He pulls a gear-shaped medallion seemingly out of thin air and puts it over his head in one motion.
“If I get in trouble for this, I’m blaming you.”
He vanishes. Outside, the shape of the battle changes instantly. The stars seem to glow brighter as the arms of the galaxy flash with the colors of the aurora. Then it’s like the void of space itself comes alive. It moves the spaceships back like they’re toys, plucking them from one side of the field to the other. It finds Darkseid at the heart of the chaos and massive arms of nothingness and darkness wrap around him. He’s screaming as it swallows him whole.
His armies scatter. The battle turns. The JL deal with the stragglers, but the air of relief is palpable.
Danny reappears next to Batman, once again donning his grease-stained coveralls. Arms folded.
“Happy?”
It took all of five minutes. Less, probably. Batman tamps down a thousand questions.
“Thank you.”
“I’m gonna need two weeks off minimum.” Danny snaps. “One to deal with the bureaucratic nightmare you’ve just caused me, and another to recover from the headache.”
Batman blanks. “Granted.”
Danny sighs. “And I’m not fixing the station until I’m back. It won’t fall out of the sky as is. Make up whatever excuse you want.”
“Done.” He considers. “I would prefer to tell them the truth. That you saved us.”
Danny glares. “I’m not supposed to save you. I made a pact not to use my power to influence the mortal realm.”
“A pact with who?”
Danny rolls his eyes. “The embodiment of Time. The concept of Justice. Among others.” He smirks at Batman’s confusion.
“And what, exactly, does that make you?”
He stands, framed by the space window, haloed by the stars. “I’ll give you three guesses.”
Batman frowns.
“Look. I like you guys. I like working on your base. I like supporting the work you do. But you can not go factoring me in to any of your plans or contingencies. This was a one time thing.
“So to answer your question again: I’m an engineer.”

@kades-stuff @h0lderofhope @stormphantomnightingale
I'm literally holding all your hands and giggling rn.
I'M SO HAPPY YOU ASKED!
(Please understand that this is my headcanon for a fic I'm in the process of writing. This is a DP x DC crossover!! Currently, what is written in this post hasn't even been officially written but that's okay! I'll eventually get to it and I'm so happy people are interested cause it makes me WANT to continue! So if it gets confusing with the lack of context, I'm sorry! Additional disclaimer, I know nothing about the DCU! I've just been using google and my boyfriend's knowledge since he's a fan of the DCU.)
Jazz will have an electric core. Maddie, a Light core and Jack a Shadow Core. (Jack's core is still a maybe, but it'll most likely end up being this!)
Now the explanation and maybe a little bit of context.
The Fentons except for Danny has been kidnapped by Darkseid and is on his ship or some place with him and his army. Due to the eradication of Amity Park, the government, in order to hide the GIW's mistake, has hired LexCorp to be at the site to basically do some cleanup. Because the GIW was only passed due to the short presidency that Lex Luthor had, he took the task with open arms.
The GIW had presented the Fentons to Lex and because he needed them off planet (idk how to actually write this part yet!), he got into contact with Darkseid and now here they are. They are the leading researchers of Ecto-Biology and because of their appearance and their research, Darkseid believes that he might have found the missing piece for the Anti Life Equation.
Blah blah blah. Fast forward a year.
During the year they were being held hostage by Darkseid, they were inevitably mind controlled. But Jack and Maddie are built different. They've been around ectoplasm for much longer than their daughter, so they're much more liminal than Jazz. So, because of that, they were able to get out of their mind control machines.
Jack and Maddie broke out of Darkseid's mind control power, ripping the mind control machines off their heads and breaking it. They claim that they will never do his bidding and they will escape with their daughter.
But... Jazz is still mind control. She's just a kid. (She's 20-21 at this time.) Darkseid literally just goes, "Um actually, you will do my bidding."
"Or what?"
"Or this." And Darkseid just overload's Jazz's mind control machine, literally frying her brains out. Unfortunately for the parents, they never got to see their daughter be her normal self before she dies.
Maddie is devastated, going blind with rage as she tries to fight Darkseid. Jack included. Surprisingly for Darkseid, they actually pick up a good fight before more soldiers come in, prying Jack and Maddie off of Darkseid before throwing them into a jail.
Batman has been there the whole time! (haha game changer reference.)
Batman had the unfortunate pleasure of watching parents watch their children die in front of them. He wanted to do something, but something kept him back. (Idk what it is yet. A door that he literally couldn't get through or something of the sort.) But where the parents get thrown into jail, Batman is able to get to.
Batman meets up with Jack and Maddie outside of the jail doors and promises escape. (Unrelated, but Bruce vaguely recognizes Maddie but he doesn't know from where!) They try to refuse, basically giving up after the loss of their daughter. But instead, they try to ask him to find their son Danny Fenton. He's the only survivor of this kidnapping and is most likely somewhere on earth. They don't know where, but just somewhere in the USA.
"Just leave us! Tell our son that we love him."
"You can tell him that yourself." And Batman manages to break them out of jail.
And off they go.
As they go through the corridors of whatever hall they're in, Jack actually notices something before Batman could even realize what's going on. A Parademon (Or Darkseid himself) are behind the trio with a killing blow on Maddie. Jack decides in a split second to intercept the attack, thus taking the killing blow instead.
Maddie screams bloody murder and stops just to turn around to her dying husband. Darkseid just grinning over the fallen family.
Batman is screaming at Maddie to run and Maddie just shakes her head. He tries to approach her only for him to literally be hoisted up by the woman (who I headcanon to just be 5 foot nothing! It's cute!) and literally throw across the hall and through the doorway. That doorway closing on Batman. The last thing that Batman sees is Darkseid lifting up his weapon (I'm gonna say a sword idk anything) and just swing it down on Maddie. But he doesn't see what happens next.
With a failure weighing heavily in his heart, Batman goes back to his ship and escapes back to earth. He's now on a mission to fulfill the parent's promise to find and protect Danny Fenton. Only... Danny Fenton doesn't exist anymore. (Can't find a Fenton if he's a Nightingale now!)
Now, Bruce has watched the fall of the Fenton Family...
(Or so he thinks!! Bruce is currently being so distraught about the end of a family line while he's at a Startup Event and standing in front of a Danny Nightingale as the boy's explaining his Bee Creations!)
LOL! Now to the reasoning behind the cores!!
Jazz gets an Electric Core because at first, I thought it would have been funny to give her an Electric Core because Danny got electrocuted when he died. He has a weakness to electricity due to his death but due to his Ice Core, it's also a power boost. Get it? Cause you are more prone to get shocked more in the winter! Idk why but it at least happens a lot to me!
But then I got to thinking about angst and using Ember as an example, Jazz gets an Electric Core because she died due to electrocution via mind control machine.
Now Jack has a Shadow Core. Based off of this post. Jack had to be the one to throw Danny through the portal to keep him safe knowing that he will most likely never see his son again. He regretted not being able to see his son for who he truly was and even hated himself for technically being the cause of his death in the first place. Then he had to watch his daughter die a horrible death in front of him. And he couldn't do anything about it! Now, when Darkseid was about to kill Maddie too, he knew what he had to do. All those regrets and silent self hatred were easily going to be resolved if he sacrificed himself. And so he does. He dies with only sadness and regrets. Regrets that even with his sacrifice, Maddie still dies. Regrets that he never understood his son. Regrets that he chose to not understand his son. Regrets that he wasn't able to protect everyone he loved. He embraced the darkness and shadows that soon filled him, thus resulting in a Shadow Core.
Now for Maddie. It would make more sense for her to have a shadow core. She's super badass and cool and mysterious. It makes sense! But we're going to put in a bit of a backstory for her. Maddie is a true Gothamite. Born and raised in Gotham. She eventually grew old enough to join the Court of Owls as a Talon!!
...wait aren't Talons undead assassins?
Why, yes! They were!
Maddie was eight when she died and became a Talon. But, that short era was short lived when someone came by and managed to resuscitate her back to the living! But this was a while later after she had received all her training. She wanted to thank her savior but she realizes that he eventually died alongside his wife behind a theatre.
Maddie, before she died, was a bright child. Although ending up in her first death, she lived life to the fullest. Took everything in stride and made the most of everything. People once said that her smile was blinding.
As she grew up, she practically fell down a rabbit hole that is ecto-biology. You could say that was her obsession... (Eyy?? Get it?? Do you get it?? Hehehe) She grew so accustomed to the ambient ectoplasm that it actually changed her! Did you know that her hair was a darker red! And her eyes were never purple to begin with! Over the years, she sees herself with a much brighter red and her eyes turned an alluring purple! She didn't question it! Must've been the ectoplasm! Turns out, due to her having been died and resurrected, Maddie had been a halfa the whole time! You'll probably ask "Well, OP, if she's a halfa, she obviously would've known about her powers long before the events of Danny Phantom!" And I'd say you're right! But shut up! I'm working on the logistics of it so hush it! (/j/j/j/j)
Now, in the current moment, after seeing her husband die in front of her, Maddie finally snaps. Although a brilliant scientist, she is still a mother and a wife. And a scary one at that. The last thing that Batman sees is Maddie about to be swung down. But if he had a few seconds longer, her would have seen Maddie literally stop that sword with her bare hands and tossing them aside, showing her near-super strength. Up until her inevitable defeat, she fought with her whole chest, using dirty tricks and her training as being a Ex-Talon.
The last thing that she remembers is fighting to protect. She is heartbroken that she lost everyone that mattered to her and wishes that she can still protect them even in death. Even when she's dying, she's still pure of heart, still trying to show that there can still be some good even after all this sadness. Even if the good isn't for her, she hopes that this good would help her son in the future.
And that's it! This is the general idea on what the Fenton's Core would look like! They might end up dying all the way and not reforming as a ghost or maybe they will! And if they do, that's what their core would be! I want to talk more about Maddie, but maybe that's for another day hehe.
*Stands in the middle of the stage, sweating profusely*
U-Uh who wants to hear me talk about what kind of Ghost Cores the Fenton Family would have and the really fucked up reasoning behind it?
*tries to walk away calmly but trips and dies*

Only One Article Found
A whole city had been decimated off the face of the planet. Bruce as Batman is in the Watchtower just trying to understand why he hasn't heard of Amity Park before. It seems to be a small town in Illinois but there seems to be no new information for three years until the city was destroyed.
The latest article that Bruce was able to find was three years ago. Apparently, there was a major power outage taking out the whole city. It centered around one particular (and ugly) building called Fentonworks where the Fenton family lived. According to the sources, it would seem that they had initially intended to make a portal to further their research in ecto-biology but it failed.
Then, their son had tried to turn on the portal to no avail. However, not without sustaining major injuries and a massive power outage. The boy had been electrocuted and it took him days to recover. With how severe the article has been saying, the boy, Daniel Fenton, should have taken weeks if not months to recover. The only thing that the boy had said before leaving any more interviews was that he just "didn't want to miss another class".

I'm gonna try my darndest!
Hello, I've decided to try my best to keeping a decent schedule with writing. I really wanted to write this but the perfectionist in me is wanting to make sure everything is as accurate as possible! But I'm forcing myself to not gaf too much about it??? So, for now, I plan on posting the VERY HORRIBLE ROUGH DRAFT of the fic I've been trying to write! This has yet to be posted on AO3 which should be the main way to read it, but fuck it! I'm desperate for attention and I want people to tell me that it's at least a little bit okay! I don't know what to name the actual fic yet. I want to name it something to a lyric from Epic The Musical but idk! Maybe it can be called I Can't Help But Wonder but not further explain why it would fit cause it might not. Once I post the really horrible rough draft, I'll link it here!
Okay bye! <3

Prologue - How It Started
Currently 3 years since the Accident, 4 years from the present day.
To be honest, Danny thought that the big reveal with his parents would have turned out badly. Especially since they keep on proclaiming how they plan on ripping every ghost apart “molecule by molecule”. Of course, there were a lot of uncertainties at first, but that's kind of what he gets for literally keeping his parents in the dark for 3 whole years. But, again, it's not exactly Danny's fault. There were plenty of talks and definitely multiple hours of reeducation and, who can't forget to mention, an ungodly amount of conversations on what or what not to say to a ghost.
Overall, this turned out to be the Best Case Scenario. By the end of it all, Danny's parents greeted him with open arms. Life was amazing knowing that all his fears were mostly for nothing. Key word is “mostly”.
In the three years that Danny hadn't told them about his ghost half, his parents, without any better judgement, agreed to have a strategic partnership with the Ghost Investigation Ward. Fentonworks would supply the GIW with weapons and research while the GIW actually goes out and enacts “the law”. What a stupid fucking law. Within a year of partnering with each other, Fentonworks easily became the GIW's top suppliers in anything EctoBiology. So when the meeting came to suddenly withdraw from supply raised some major red flags in the GIW.
To be honest, it took the entire Fenton Family by surprise. After spending weeks just struggling to break free from the GIW's hold, it wasn't long until they also find out about Danny's Halfa status. He knows it wasn't his parent's fault in this case. The GIW literally came in while Danny was out on patrol with weapons that no Fenton was able to identify and literally shot Danny down to the point of detransforming. They should've expected it, but they still weren't fast enough as they watched Danny being taken away. Although not officially, the GIW had declared war with the Fentons (and by extension, the entirety of the Infinite Realms).
Many ghosts from Danny's council (“You mean to tell me that my little boy is the King of the Dead?!”) stood by the Fenton's side as they fought tooth and nail for Danny's safe return. Sam, Tucker, Ellie, and hell- Even Vlad fought hard for Danny to come home safe. And he did… for the most part.
Although (half) alive, Danny was found battered and beaten with an ugly Y scarring his chest. Some were horrified and some were sad but even Danny knew that everyone was pissed.
Everyone who was there on the rescue mission and even some additional people that Danny didn't expect to join were on a warpath to make things right. And by that, they mean destroy everything that the GIW has ever had. Databases were cleared and/or destroyed. People were killed (a mother's rage is just a whole different breed) and many bones were broken. Not anyone important, mind you, but it’s still an uncomfortable amount.
Despite everyone Danny ever loves running on just pure adrenaline and rage, they almost lost. After almost burning all of the GIW to the ground, everyone beloved to Danny had collectively decided that in order for the GIW to never get a hold of ghost kind, they will need to destroy everything. Everything that the adult Fentons had worked hard for and everything they had built and rebuilt. They all had to go.
His family and friends gave Danny everything he would need to survive. Photos of them. Flash drives of everything the Fenton's have ever created. Food. Clothes. Everything.
Danny continues screaming why but their only responses were that they just couldn't join him. They said that they don't know how much longer they can continue to hold back. He wasn't safe, they said to him. Be happy, they said. They’re sorry, they said. They love him, they said.
Danny continued to thrash around in his parent's hold as they forced him through the portal, ghosts from Danny's council waiting on the other side. As soon as he fully made it through the portal, it closed with a horrifying boom. An explosion.
The Young King screamed in terror, trying to force himself away from the hold of his council. He had to revert back to his human form in order to break free from the ghost's hold. There wasn't a lot that his council could do at this point anyway since they couldn't touch him. All they could do was watch their distraught king cry and scream as he watched his family abandon him in sacrifice.
Danny knew that he wasn't thinking clearly. Once he was able to calm down from his breakdown, only then did he remember that he's the Fucking King. Ever since he took up the throne, he's been training to get stronger. Although not currently at his best, he can still do what he needs to do. With hands burning bright with green, almost greener than the Realms surrounding everyone, Danny clawed at the air around him, tearing a temporary portal in front of him. Thanks to Wulf, Danny's been able to create portals on his own. There's a lot of work to be done, but for now, it works.
He knows that making portals can vary. You will need to know the exact coordinates in the Human Realm and with math and dividing stuff, you will be able to teleport to the exact location you want from the Infinite Realms to the Human Realm. The best thing in this current scenario, Danny didn't stray far from where he was thrown in, so he can easily make it back home whenever he wants to.
The thing is…
There just wasn't anything here.
Maybe Danny got it wrong? Maybe he actually did move. He looked back through the portal where his council stayed, all of them giving him sad looks. No… This isn't right! He's got to be at the wrong place, he's sure of it! After all, Amity Park had buildings and trees and- and people.
This place had a fucking crater.
“Why…?” Danny then said, floating down in disbelief. When he opened the temporary portal, it was supposed to be ground level. He should have been able to literally step out of the portal and touch ground. Instead, he floated down at least a good few meters (that’s a few meters too many) before he found solid footing in the center.
From what he can see, this crater goes on for miles. At first, he thinks that maybe he's just in the wrong universe? Or maybe the wrong timeline??? But no, the more he looks, the more he can recognize from whatever's left. The sky still looks the same and there's a very specific smell in the air because of the Nasty Burger that once stood. He can continue looking down the crater for maybe miles- It's not really, but it sure feels like it- and he can, unfortunately, recognize the god awful “Welcome to Amity Park!” sign. Although literally hanging by a thread, that seems to be the only thing that survived the blow. Whatever blew up here wiped out the whole town.
Wait.
No.
No no no.
Danny widened his eyes, bolting into the sky. For at least a mile up from the ground is the temporary portal. That shouldn't be right. Whenever he made the temporary portal, he made sure that it would open back up in his basement. That way, he can be able to help out his family if he needs to. By at least a 10 mile radius, there is just nothing surrounding the area.
Danny shook his head, now floating in front of the temporary portal. He is in pure disbelief as his thoughts started to form in his head, connecting the dots together. The Portal was the catalyst for this event. Most likely what happened was that when the Fenton's threw Danny through the original portal, they had set it to self-destruct taking everything and everyone with it. The Portal killed everyone who ever lived in this horrible town. His horrible town. His haunt.
Once the Poor King came to the realization, the air around him started to chill. The ghosts watching him can see the portal waver before it started to freeze over. They can see Danny curl in on himself as the ice begins to form on his person. It was only then that a few ghosts have started to make an effort to keep Danny from hurting himself. Unfortunately, it was all for naught as they were blown back through the portal once Danny let out the horrible wait he dreads so much. There was something odd about the way he wailed but he didn't dwell on it much further. It shook everyone to the core as he wailed his heart out, mourning the loss of everyone he ever cared for.
From after that point was a blur. Using the Ghostly Wail drains Danny to the point of detransforming. Danny fell from the sky before strong arms decided to catch him lest he break his head open on the ground. There was a bit of an argument that had happened before Danny regained his strength to retransform unconsciously and he could reawaken if he wanted to but he can feel Nocturn's powers soothe him back to sleep, dreaming of people now gone from his life.
Many ghosts from afar came to Danny’s need, also mourning the loss of his haunt. Pandora probably had helped carry him back through the portal that he made. Someone else- Ember and Skulker maybe- held on to Danny's floating items for fear that some ghost would take it. Nocturn- most likely- led the poor soul towards The King's Castle where Clockwork awaited with a sad smile. Danny will know that although Clockwork knew all that was to happen, he couldn't do anything about it as it was meant to happen. He knows that Clockwork wants to say more, but he decided not to press on further knowing that he will never get that Ancient to talk. He'll realize much later that he will just need to trust Clockwork’s judgement since he knows that he would never do anything that will hurt Danny and therefore the timeline.
Not all timelines ended up the way it did, but this was the timeline that will lead to Danny's eternal happiness. For now, it will feel like he drew the short straw.
For the next few weeks, Danny mourned. Mourned the loss of his parents. He mourned the loss of his precious sister Jazz and his beloved friends Sam and Tucker. He even mourned the loss of Vlad, hilarious enough, because after so many weeks of being the Realms, that awful man still has yet to show up. He could only assume that he died too. He mourned the loss of his mirror twin. He doesn’t know where she is, but there was no way he could get in contact with her. Not without a home to return to. Not when the GIW are still out there, probably, hunting them down like animals. It would be safer for Ellie to not come in contact.
Eventually, that miserable feeling numbed down. Although having been dealt the worst card, he still had his Kingly duties to do. Duties to focus on instead of being infected with fear and grief.
For years, Danny decided to pour out his half life and soul to the beings of this infinite land. Making sure that everyone here stay loved and seen. They will all receive the care they all deserve so that they may live their afterlife in peace. Of course, there are those who are against him that anyone as kind as him is sure to fall. But they were easily proven wrong. For those who oppose him will understand why he is the King. They all fear him as they all love him. Because of that, it’s changed him. No longer was he the scared and scrawny Danny Fenton. No longer was he the baby ghost of Danny Phantom. He is now just The Phantom. The Phantom, Ruler of the Dead.
Prince of the Sky and Stars.
King of the Infinite Realms.
(This is not the horrible rough draft that I was talking about! This first chapter is maybe the actual complete first chapter (prologue)! If anyone wants, I can post the general plot in another post! Okay bye!)
#aeri posts#dp x dc#danny phantom#superman is in here#but only if you squint REALLY really hard#aeri doesnt know what to name this fic but this will be the tag to put the updates in until i finally find out#I need to change the size of the actual explosion#a WHOLE MILE???#that could literally destroy the whole country#but im currently too lazy to figure it out right now

Jack on a three way call: How are things in Gotham!? Is everything going well with opening the new Fenton Work branch?
Jazz: Everything is going great, Dad. We think we should be open for business in a week or two.
Maddie: That's so exciting, sweetie! Thank you again for doing this for us.
Jazz: Hey, it's the family business. Of course, I'll help out, plus it gives Danny and I a place to stay while we're studying.
Maddie: How is Danny doing? I fell bad we made him move after only one year in Casper High.
Jazz: Danny is adjusting. He's got straight A's in class and the full ride to Gotham U, that the Martha Wayne Foundation offered him is a nice bonus. He's just a little upset that the only way to get it is to attend three years of high school within Gotham. He is really missing Sam and Tucker
Maddie: Has he made no friends in Gotham Academy?
Jazz: Well....there is that one kid, but he's more interested in being boyfriends instead of best friends.
Jack: How can you be so sure? I've known plenty of people who thought I was flirting with them but in reality I was just being friendly.
Jazz: He is outside our house serenading Danny. He hired a mariachi band and has a sign that reads, "Will you be my boyfriend Danny Fenton" in spanish
Maddie: Oh. How is Danny reacting?
Jazz: *Looks over at Danny*
Danny:

Jazz: He looks confused. I don't think he can read the sign.
Jack: *laughing* That's my boy! What's the poor unfortunate kid who's heart was stolen by Danny?
Jazz: Jason Todd.
Maddie: That name sounds familiar. Wasn't he the kid Phantom saved from the Joker in Ethiopia a year ago?
Jazz: Yeah, it was.
Jack: *Laughs harder*

Actually writing something based off of this post. Y'all really seemed to like it and I got scared LOLOL
(How it will probably go (written poorly written cause it's almost 7AM and I haven't slept yet) . Also I have no idea what I'm doing. This will be rewritten better in a fic maybe.)
Jason sighed as he made his way into Gotham University's gym. It was the middle of the day and Jason was there at a Startup Event posing as a guy who was interested in what people had to offer. He had only had maybe a total of four hours of sleep since he had patrol the night before. Granted, this wouldn't have affected him as much if he was more mentally prepared to be awake. The only reason why he's out here was because Bruce had woken him up an hour ago to tell him a little last minute about what he needed to do today. Originally, the plan was to do absolutely nothing. But now he has to investigate a guy that Bruce had his eye on as of lately.
The person he's looking for is a man named Danny Nightingale. Apparently he's been in Gotham for a couple years and only recently started making a mess of things. How it went under Bruce's nose is beyond him considering how freaked out Bruce was once he did find out.
Apparently, the guy has been making life changing machines. Little mechanical bees have been flying around Gotham really just sucking up all the pollution in the air and just depositing it somewhere. According to the media, they go back to some headquarters and into a bee hive looking structure to deposit all the pollution and sludge. From the photos shown, it's actually pretty impressive. Some guy actually making a change around here.
For Bruce- no. For Batman, this is just highly suspicious. Why would some guy make these positive life changing machines? For the better? No. No genius with the power to change the world would do it for the better. There's got to be some ulterior motive behind it.
At least, that's what Batman thinks.
Jason thinks it's all interesting. Maybe there is an ulterior motive but even then, at a scale so large that it's literally affecting the city in a positive way? You've got to be literally more insane than the Joker if you wanted to plaster your face everywhere at an event like this. Everyone else at this event seemed to show promise but compared to Danny Nightingale's company? They're literally all small fry.
Surprisingly enough, however, no one else seems to be at Danny's booth. Not even Danny. Jason frowned as he approached the booth and just looked at the machines on them. The Bees are kind of just flying in place and the moment that Jason even looked at them, the Bees immediately got to work. They flew around him like a puppy with wings, nuzzling against him and bumping into him so dumbly. And honestly?
It was actually kind of cute. You would think that being on such little hours of sleep and being grumpy the whole morning would really affect the pits inside him but no. He's surprisingly calm.
"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry! They don't usually act like this," a voice stuttered out. A man hastily walked towards Jason as he gently plucked the Bees out of the air and brought it close to him.
"Uh, don't worry about it. I thought it was kind of..." Jason trailed out before locking eyes with the man who spoke.
This was Danny Nightingale. He was much shorter than Jason, only standing tall at 5' 5". His hair was fully black with only a white money piece right on his bangs. And his eyes? An alluring blue with only a hint of green at the center of his eyes. Honestly, the sight of Danny just about took Jason's breath away.
There was a subtle glow to him, almost making Jason think of there being some sort of meta activity going on but looking around the people in the area, no one but him seems to notice. Danny was concerned about Jason, that much is obvious. The way his eyes burrowed in concern then into confusion. It's strange why just looking at him made Jason's heart skip a beat, even though in hindsight, Danny looks much worse off than Jason.
That man looks like he hasn't slept in 3 weeks. But even then he was...
"Cute..." Jason finally finished his sentence a little too late.
Danny blinked in confusion, tilting his head to the side. His bangs fall freely over his eyes. Just the sight of that almost made Jason blush. "My bees were cute?" Danny spoke, the tone of his voice (very tired) sounded like a sweet harmony in Jason's ears. "Oh! You're interested in Nightech? No one else seems to be interested in my stuff yet. I can tell you all about this company and how it works? I put in a lot of work and love into these little guys and I'm sure you would love them too!"
Blah blah blah. Proper name. Place name. Backstory stuff.
Nothing of what Danny is saying is registering in Jason's brain right now. Maybe some. ("I... Love... You...")
"I love you too!!" Jason blurted out.
Danny blinked before widening his eyes. "Wh-What...?" There was that look of concern again but now there's another look. Recognition...
Whatever. None of that right now. This is embarrassing!
"I-I said I love your company. Uh. Do you have a business card? I can let Bruce Wayne know about this."
Wordlessly, Danny gave an information card to Jason before that poor brick of a man just ran out of there, not once even looking back. Honestly, from the way it's playing out in Jason's head right now, he feels like a princess running away from her prince at the stroke of midnight. The earpiece crackled before a voice started to speak.
"Jason? What the hell was that?" Bruce's voice questioned.
It was only when Jason left the gymnasium that he answered, "Me digging my own grave for the second time, old man. Let me go die in peace."
"No, no," Dick's voice chimed in, "Only after we replay that very short conversation about 50,000 times. Thank you very much."
Jason only groaned in response.
Danny, back in the gymnasium, only stared at the door that Jason left from in horror. The only way for people to react that way to him like that is for them to be dead or liminal. Now he has to figure out a way to tell Bruce Wayne that this person that he seems to know is a little bit dead!
This actually is a part of whatever the fuck I'm writing. I'm still thinking of a fic name. But all of the random posts go together in some way.
