Also. Even if there's Hufflepuff in my username. I am a fierce ally, I renounce the terf who shall no longer be named.

I have loved Harry Potter with all my heart, and Hermione and Hagrid especially are still so dear to my heart. But her hurting the trans and LGBTQIA community this badly and going from bad to worse, it lost a lot of the magic for me.

For a while I just saw them separately, but I can no longer in good conscience do that.

I don't know what to say more, I am appalled at her actions.

So yeah. Just putting that out there.

Rome

Today, I'm thinking about Rome.

I've seen many cities and villages already.

But Rome didn't feel like a city.

No.

Rome was more of a living being.

History lying in wait.

Right underneath your feet

You could feel the heartbeat thrumming, felt its lungs expand.

As if people of times long past were silently judging you

Ready to wake up at any moment

And roam the earth

I went for tea with my five year younger self.

She was 10 minutes early. I was 5.

She chose rosehip with sugar. I chose chamomile.

She asked if we finally found the job of our dreams. I smiled and told her ' after a struggle, it finally looks like it.'

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, to listen to doctors and get my flu vaccine and any shots i could because they remembered Before.

then they started fighting Covid precautions.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that the ozone was disappearing and the earth was dying and we needed to recycle and save the planet.

now my parents think climate change is a myth.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that racism was a plague, that we had to love and accept everyone, that we should never judge before walking a mile in their shoes.

then they told me that protesting for my Black siblings was wrong.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that we needed to give to the poor. working at soup kitchens. making quilts. collecting food and money and supplies. building houses. because it was the christian and just plain right thing to do.

now they look at me, on food stamps with their grandchildren, and lament the "welfare state".

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that any rich man, especially an immoral one, should never run our country.

you can guess who they voted for.
