It is possible to decribe how one's personal alterhumanity is not personally connected to mental illness or delusions, without throwing those where it is connected under the bus.

Being out as plural is strange when singlets don’t understand.
Our uncle (who was told we were a system by our father without our knowledge) is... intrigued by us and scared of us at the same time. “I don’t know who I’m talking to” is something we get told by the parents that he says all the time, but he’s never voiced that concern directly to us.
The solution to that problem, the solution to all his fear, is really simple. He just has to ask us who is in control. We’d gladly give him enough information to lessen his fear. Even though we’ve asked the parents to pass that message on to him, he hasn’t been over at our house since the father told him about our plurality.
I can’t help but wonder if it’s us. There’s other possible explanations, but the fact that we’re plural seems the most likely as to why we haven’t seen him in months.
Now, we don’t necessarily like him all too much, so him not visiting is mostly fine by us, but it’s still not the nicest thing in the world to be treated like either an “interesting” lab rat, or a horror movie character. We’re not “intriguing”, we’re not “scary”, we’re just... People. That’s all we want to be.
Though we’re not here to be studied, I do wish singlets would ask us questions, and I wish they’d listen when we did get the chance to speak. Most questions asked to us, as long as they’re asked with good intentions in mind, would be completely fine--especially if it’s to help someone understand that we’re not a horror movie trope. Yes, we don’t owe anyone information about our system, but when there’s misinformation we’d like to clear up, we’d rather deal with questions than deal with being ghosted.
Half the time when we speak on our experiences, even when prompted, it feels like people’s preconceived notions of what plurality means dampens what we’re actually saying, and it ends up with us getting frustrated at not being listened to, and misinformation spreading regardless of our attempts to stop it. To put it bluntly, if you are a singlet, you don’t know better than systems due to not having that lived experience and you shouldn’t speak over them.
We have plenty of supportive singlet friends who care and ask questions and are respectful--to people like that, you’re amazing, keep doing what you’re doing. To people who aren’t sure where to start with what plurality means, who are scared and who want to know more, you need to ask questions, and you need to listen to the answers.

People with fictional-based identities are valid and are valuable to the alterhuman community. People with fictional-based identities are no less real than people with identities related to animals from this world. We love and support people with fictional-world-related identities in this house.

I don't know if it's acknowledged enough that psychological otherkin can be spiritual/religious in other ways without believing thier alterhumanity is supernatural in origin. It's often couched as the reincarnationist pagan spiritual otherkin vs the atheist Beings of Science psychological otherkin when like most things it's More Complicated Than That (tm)

Choosing Alterhumanity
You know, while we used to be guilty of this, I’m tired of seeing arguments like “you don’t choose this” in reference to alterhuman ‘types (especially fictional characters) that are deemed “problematic” or “cringe” or whatever else, because the thing is, some people do. Especially surrounding systems.
Some people have otherlinks of “bad” things for certain reasons, and they’re not bad as people by default just because of that. Their identity does NOT make them a terrible person. This goes for systems too. Some people make tulpas or contact soulbonds or experience other voluntary types of plurality and having chosen a “problematic” fictive (for example) in your system does not make you or your system bad.
These voluntary identities are perfectly okay and shouldn’t be thrown aside so often. C’linking a villain doesn’t make you a horrible person. Voluntary identities are important in this community and don’t deserve to be mistreated.
You shouldn’t claim that everyone’s identities are involuntary or use the fact that your identity is involuntary to appeal more to outsiders while tossing those with voluntary alterhumanity aside. Even some people saying “we don’t choose our identities” while it may be true for them or certain subsections of the community, when it’s used in certain contexts such as discourse over whether a character is “okay” or not to identify as, it comes across as hateful toward otherlinkers and systems who do choose their identities.
It’s perfectly okay to not choose your identity, but it’s also okay to choose it, no matter what that identity is.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, but I think I’m very possibly birdhearted. I’m not entirely sure but I just… Have such a strong connection to birds and I feel like it might be the same sort of connection as an otherhearted person would have. I have that familial connection, plus some other feeling I can’t really describe. I mean, it all feels similar to Archie’s connection to birds that he has and he uses the otherhearted label for himself, so it’s probably that.
I feel like this is all due to in-source reasons, though the system’s special interest in birds is probably playing a part in this as well. We as a collective have always loved birds and bird related things, and most of us have some sort of bird-related connection, even if it’s just really liking them.
I suppose the problem is, I don’t know if there are any birds I don’t feel this connection to. If there are, I’d have to make the label I want to use less broad. I can’t think of any birds that I don’t feel the connection to off the top of my head, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some obscure bird I’ve never heard of that I wouldn’t be connected to at all.
But I guess for now I could try on the birdhearted label, and see if it works. We’ll get to the point of questioning it further if I do find some birds I don’t have the connection to.

I have too many Sulphur Crested Cockatoo figures and plush toys. Well, maybe not “too many”, but I certainly have a lot. And I love them. Especially the tiny ones. It’s just a subtle way of me showing who I am and my love for birds in general. It’s hard to not buy them when I or one of my systemmates sees them, so we have a growing collection of bird things. They’re easy enough to get because they’re commonly made as toys here, so I’m pretty spoiled for choice.
Pictures under the read more so I don’t flood people’s dashboards.

How many others have a plush representstion of their therio/kintype(s)? Like the same species (or character if you're fictionkin) even if it's not an exact replica.
I have quite possibly too many horse plushies in a vast range of sizes. Some of them have been with me for most of my life but a lot have been acquired on a whim. I don't think I could live without having stuffed horse toys around to be perfectly honest. A small part of me NEEDS a fuzzy herd to hang out in my room with.

It's good to keep in mind that there's no minimum time frame for confirming a kintype.
This needs to be especially remembered for fictionkind.
E.g.
If somebody awakened as Sans from playing Undertale - they're Sans.
If somebody questioned that awakening for years then came forward as Sans -they're Sans.
If somebody felt connections to skeletons, monsters etc and already had a personality like that of Sans then saw him in game and awakened to being Sans - they're Sans.
"but this thing only came out three days ago!"
"but you JUST learnt that that animal exists!"
Doesn't matter. If they're wrong further down the line, fine. But until then, they're right.
Your personal method of kinfirmation is just that - personal. I constantly question and reconfirm etc. If somebody else didn't/doesn't I'll still treat them as their kintype(s).

Fronting less is weird.
I’m still a host and I’m still active, I’m just not out here nearly as much as I used to be. I don’t get to post here much anymore and it kind of feels like my life has been taken over--which is only fair, if I’m being honest. I share my body with up to 200 other people now as of a few days ago and they all need time to be here and do their own things. It just leaves little time for me.
I was never the original, though. I came in around 2010 and stayed the main host for 10 or so years. Like I said, it’s only fair that I share the front around a bit more now. I’m okay with it, too, I’m just a little confused as to what to do with this blog. It was and is very important to me and I’m just... Trying to figure out what to do with it? I’m not planning on getting rid of this blog or anything--it might change to become a general system blog at some point, but all my posts will stay if it does happen.
For now, though... I’m going to try and post more when I am around, so I guess my question is what kinds of things do you want to see me post about? Personal experiences? Informational posts, as was the original purpose of this blog? Both? Something else? I have a few post ideas that I want to make but more ideas are always welcome and might help me boost activity here again.

I crawled out of my hole because Wolf scared me.
The director and filmmaker both admitted point-blank to looking at otherkin, thinking about species dysphoria, purposefully doing no research, and purposefully envisioning a future where conversion therapy prisons are the norm for people with species dysphoria.
This is not an exaggeration. This is real. Someone actually looked at us and decided this was the reality they wanted, and they didn’t wanna base it in actual reality at all.
Please don’t let people think this movie is an allegory for transgender people or gender dysphoria. It literally by admission is not. And while trans people are obviously impacted, we need to start admitting that there are other very real people that this is literally – not allegorically – about forcing through conversion “therapy.”
They made a movie about conversion therapy prison for species dysphoric people.
As a pluran, I can say it is the equivalent of Split for species dysphoria.
Please tell people species dysphoria is real and people with it are going to be harmed by this being one of our first major pieces of “representation.”
Not all representation is good. This isn’t representation when they literally admitted to not researching real species dysphoria at all.
