Quick life updates now that its summer!!

Finished my classes with all A's and one C+ (analytical mechanics my beloathed) !

Awarded Dean's list for the Spring 25 semester :D!! Bought myself a new phone to celebrate 🤩

Found a senior thesis advisor to work with - I'll be starting that in the Fall.

Read An Immense World by Ed Yong; EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK OMFG. AMAZING BOOK.

Started my 6-week summer classes - Info Lit & Research and Principles of Programming Languages.

Life is good! 🫶

Sorry I haven't posted in weeks, I think trying to have a structure is having the opposite effect it should and gives me demand avoidance instead of being helpful 💀

So, I'm going to stop expecting every post I make to be a journal entry and instead I'm just gonna start "academically shitposting" if you will lollll

First, a quick update since it's spring break!

The semester has been going well--stressful, but well! Experimental is super fun, as anticipated. The first pic in this post is a photo I took of an electron beam as part of our lab on determining the specific charge of an electron!! Astro is absolutely fascinating. The hw is challenging, but I can tell that it will be helpful! Analytical is kind of kicking my ass. I failed the first exam... I am going to try to do more practice problems and study more from the book to do better. Philosophy of science is also SUPER fun. I wish our class periods were longer! Finally, my CS class is Going. I'm not necessarily enjoying it, but I don't hate it either lol

That's my update for now, stay tuned for aforementioned shitposting. It'll probably include rants abt homework and cool stuff I learn lolol

Forgot to take any kind of picture today, but I had a good first day of Astrophysics and Analytical Mechanics! I can tell they're going to be intense, but I'm very excited nonetheless.

Today's accomplishments:

On time to classes

Reviewed notes after classes and cleared up fuzzy concepts

Did most of my first assigned philosophy reading

oh also ... idk how I've gotten this far in life without knowing this sooner, but I JUST made sense of the difference between arctan (tan^-1) and cot (1/tan) ... I have been so blind. but I finally see the light LMFAOOO

FIRST DAY BACK: SUCCESS!

Experimental is going to be so much fun omg. The experiments we can choose from are all so cool, and a lot of them are classics like measuring the specific charge of the electron with the photoelectric effect or the two-slit wave interference with a single photon. I'm so excited!

Philosophy of science is going to be Hella reading but I'm excited for that too!

I got my astro class and analytical class tomorrow, and I'll do some of my asynchronous CS work as well, and then I'll have officially started all my classes. Feeling good!!

On god, this semester is my academic comeback. manifesting good study habits and strong self-discipline.

I got my cumulative due dates spreadsheet all set up before classes officially start in the morning, and I got my new desk all decorated and tidy so I feel motivated to study. I'm feelin really optimistic!!

GoodNotes finally added a pencil tool, and I'm so happy about it. You all have no idea lol

Sorry I've been sorta M.I.A.,,, Last week was pretty rough. I had a ton of stuff due all at once and also had my first ODEs exam (I did Not do well T.T ). Work was busy, too, because I did an outreach event for a full day rather than working a regular in-library shift.

This week, I'm working on getting ahead with my second lab report and putting in extra effort to practice ODEs. This exam was humbling to say the least lollll

Done today:

Modern Phys hw problems 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 20

Made a plan for ODEs practice

To do tomorrow:

I'll never use GPT to help me write anything, but I can always count on bro to tell me what's wrong with my code LMAO 😭 TLDR of the situation; my line of best fit was not best fitting lol

Ended up needing to ask for an extension on my report bc I've been extremely susceptible to side quests to learn things idk how to do yet and it ate all my time :/

I didn't get to even touch my modern hw today either, so that's gonna be tomorrow's problem.

I Messed UP procrastinating this lab report guys....

I'm like, "Oh, it was just a short first lab--I don't need to dedicate a ludicrous amount of time to the report!"

I WAS WRONG...

I've literally never used Overleaf before this. Idk why I thought I could just shit it out like I had in Google Docs in the past. Be so fr.

At least I know for next time I guess!! 😅
