Winter break's over, the championship game is over, and I'm finally getting back on schedule. Back to being a mommy. Back to being a student. Back to regular life.

Got some things done this week! Turned in my last thinking journal for my critical writing class, completed my final sketches for my drawing class and now I'm currently working on my final project for that class plus the project I have to finish up!

I'm really worried about my grade in my drawing class since my professor is a harsh grader and my art isn't that "realistic" but as only as I pass the class and not failing, I'll be fine ૮(˶╥︿╥)ა

Ready for this class to be over so I don't have to wake up around 6 am anymore!!!

I have lots of plans for the summer so I'm very excited to be back home!! I made a goal tracker on notion and everything! It's not done but I'm working on it <3

I have to take a shower in four hours and then head to uni. I will not be sleeping. It will be a miracle if I finish the absolute minimum necessary to show up to my study class. But this is also really exciting. I am trying to see it as exciting rather than dreadful. Anywho, pray that I can finish my project in four hours :)

Spring is at my back porch knocking on my screen door, pollen sent as a first warning of her arrival.

By this time next year I’ll be twenty one and almost done with my degree but sometimes it’s hard to imagine how fast time has passed by.

Spring to me is when I am seven and plucking four leaf clovers with my little sister in the backyard for hours under soft blue skies.

Racing over rolling hills in my pink shorts and blue crocs, hair wild as a beast from her warm breezes.

Grandma shouting at the both of us to not get grass stains although it was already too late and sweet talking Grandpa for a shamrock shake.

That’s my Spring, a sweet hand to hold while jumping rope and a buddy for swinging on the play set with before dinner.

But that’s long gone now and I am left watching my baby sister count down the days until her eighteenth birthday as I study for gruesome midterms miles away.

I miss the Spring of my youth, butterflies and daffodils everywhere I looked.

It’s not the same, never will be again, with the taps on my door only growing louder with each passing day.

I’ll welcome Spring with open arms like a friend I’ve not seen in some time but deep down I’ll always miss the one fourteen years gone and all the people I had to leave behind.

Happy International ASMR day to those who celebrate. I usually watch those ASMR postive affirmation videos while I'm getting ready for bed now and I think it's helping. I have less nightmares when my head is filled with good thoughts before bed, who could've guessed.

I haven't done much today so far.

Book Review

Yesterday I finished

I really liked it. I really enjoyed the movie and was thinking about reading the book but I was worried it'd be too complex and I wouldn't like the book. So this was a great compromise, the graphic novel format allows for a lot of the confusing background information to be depicted instead of read. I've probably missed on some nuance as a result. Maybe in the future I'll read the original book and get that.

The art is beautiful. I especially like the protective cover over the hardback.

I felt like I got more detail and worldbuilding than I did from the movies.

I go back to class next week then I only have about 6 days of class after that. Hopefully finals don’t kill me, I lucked out last semester with only having one exam.

- Monday, March 18, 2024 -

Somehow, the semester is almost over already... only 5 weeks left before finals. Things have been okay, to be honest! Calc 3 is actually significantly easier than Calc 2 was for me, and I'm passing with a 90 ish. Physics is a little tough, but it's mostly on me for not doing my part to study outside of lecture. Circuits are lowkey kinda confusing lol

Data Structures is honestly a nightmare. Not because the material is necessarily difficult, but I just have difficulty with this professor in particular. He's a really harsh grader.

Philosophy has been wonderful this semester, too. We've spent a lot of time on Descartes, which was fun. I find particular joy in reading his assertions about religion and just obliterating them lolol

I also finished Entangled Life, and oh my god, that book changed my life /positive

Everyone should read it lol I'm so serious!!!

Goals for this week:

Turn in philosophy midterm paper on time

Catch up on physics material I'm confused on

Get a head start on my calc 3 homework for next week

Start posting more!

I started a new blog for my newest hyperfixation on nature, @sidetracked-by-nature , and I'll be posting my learnings and plant/fungi/animal IDs regularly!
