Writeblr Intro

Hi! I've set up this sideblog to help me collate useful resources on writing, follow other writers and (probably mostly) as a place to infodump about my world and characters.

My WIP is The Maelhithe Trilogy, a fantasy series based in Maelhithe, a coastal city in the throes of industrialization. Magic is being sold off and exploited by powerful interests with disastrous consequences looming on the horizon (and lurking beneath the waves). What the city needs is a saviour. What it's got is a couple of mining technicians, a sex worker, an anxious wizard, and the renegade son of the Lord of Maelhithe.

Plus we've got sea monsters, pirates, wizards, witches, a whole spectrum of romance, and the cosiest tavern in the multiverse.

I am not a published author, perhaps one day I'll pursue that path but for now I'm writing this for the love of it! Thanks for reading if you've got this far 🩵

Every year I have a thought that, at some point, the big wigs at Microsoft are gonna start putting restrictions on mods for Minecraft. I dunno, maybe it’s because corporates screw over modding communities. And if Minecraft bans mods, it’s dead, like, DEAD dead. Just reread Loop of the Hollow chapter 1. I’m constantly impressed how you can characterize your protags in a way that makes them feel super relatable, in settings of uncanny valley. Nice work!

Correct me if I’m wrong: was part of this story inspired by the Fallout franchise? Fallout: New Vegas is one of my hubs’s favorites, so I’m peripherally aware of the series. I ask because there was mentions of one of them being cryptid.

Nah Max just says really weird insults. Its major inspirations are stuff like Echo (the furry visual novel), Haunting of Hill House, and Midnight Mass. To clarify, the story takes place in 2022, Texas just tends to look like a wasteland. And thank you, there’ll be plenty more character moments during The Horrors!

SS is a story that's been floating around in my head since ~2018. My intention is to create clean, faith-inspired stories in a market dominated by content that's not very Christian friendly. It follows twin princes Arkyn and Aesir, as well as their friend Kaera, on a journey across the kingdoms of Ziel as they gather legendary artifacts—the Armor of Arkaios—in order to destroy the enemy: A man bound to an evil entity who's bent on becoming the one true king of Ziel. But he's not the only antagonist; there are four others, all of whom share the same desire for power and immortality. This story draws a lot of inspiration from things like Lord of the Rings, The Legend of Zelda, and Deltora Quest. I intend to publish it in the future. I'll be posting art of characters from SS as well as the occasional snippet. I hope you enjoy, and please spread the word amongst Christian creators!
