Growing up I thought it was dumb about how we talk so much about mental health in school and have a bijillion strategies not to panic or whatever. Had no clue that there was actually so much stigma about mental illness.

Now that I’m a bit older and more anxious, depressed, etc, I finally realize that mental health is a real thing. But now if I say I feel anxious or if I have a medically diagnosed mental condition THEN that’s when other people tell me mental health isn’t a “real” concept.

It’s ironic how as a kid when other people told me about the importance of mental health I didn’t believe them. Though now as a young adult struggling with mental health others don’t believe me
