Bruce, actually being genuine and concerned: why are you still single
Jason, offended: i know you did not just say that
Jason: you? of all people?
Jason: being gotham’s most eligible bachelor for 30 years straight isn’t a compliment
Jason: the public only votes for you ‘cause they have daddy issues and they like silver foxes
Jason: but youre not even a silver fox anymore, youre an arctic fox
Jason: no ones’s lining up for your wrinkly ass
Jason: god forbid they find out youre a furry too like damn
Bruce:

Selina Kyle, next to her, holding Grace Kelly's $38.8 million Cartier ring as an engagement ring to Bruce:
Harvey Dent, in therapy for Bruce:
Superman, rearranging the stars to make a Batman/Bruce constellation:
Wonder Woman, picking out wedding dresses (for Bruce):
Hal Jordan:
Hal Jordan: what
Hal Jordan: im not in love with mr dark and brooding
Hal Jordan:
Hal Jordan, screeching at the other Green Lanterns to stay away from Gotham because Bruce didnt want anyone messing with it:

oh bruharvey…
Do you think Harvey flirts with Dragon!Bruce by flipping a gold coin in the air when interacting? Like I know his family and Gotham are his hoard, but you know gold does still have SOME appeal to the dragon shifters to some degree right?
Harvey: -ranting about social injustice while flipping the gold coin-
Bruce: -pupils dilate-
Okay this made me LAUGH. I like to think maybe Bruce pretends to be briefly interested just to fuck with Harvey, and instead of being embarassed at being caught, Harvey rolls with it and laughs with Bruce. It's like a little litmus test for them both, in opposite directions. Harvey needs to know he can work with a Wayne who isn't actually that air-headed, and Bruce wants to work with someone who can't admit they were wrong and still put their best foot forward after.
I think what really makes Bruce's pupils dilate and his interest increase is when Harvey starts talking about his plans for Gotham. Bruce hoards Gotham, of course, but people who can actually help at a larger scale are the most appealing of all. Harvey Dent has so much potential in him before Bruce even meets him, and that -- that -- is enough to make a dragon like him take a second meeting. And not a few days later -- he grabs Harvey by the collar and drags him out of whatever boring cocktail hour they're at and hides them in a booth at some fancy speakeasy and tells Harvey to talk.
Harvey figures out pretty damn quickly that Bruce Wayne is the real deal, in more ways than one. He's so clearly a dragon hiding in plain sight. But he's also not what he says in other areas -- he's not air-headed or unintelligent. His passion for Gotham burns like a physical flame in his eyes. He stares at Harvey like he's the answer to so many questions. Questions that haven't even been asked yet.
Imagine losing that. Losing Harvey, even though he never truly leaves the hoard. But becoming Two Face changes him irrevocably, and the fire Bruce saw in him changed too. What a misery, for a hopeful dragon finally seeing hope in someone else across the table. Especially if very few people actually treated him 1) like a dragon and 2) with respect to those instincts 3) without losing the ability to poke fun or treat Bruce like an equal. Harvey flipping a gold coin to fuck with Bruce was probably one of the boldest things anyone had tried on him in years.

This is how it feels rn. I hate you DC.

Y'all may disagree, but Bruce is a fictional character. So, with the classist bs DC has been saying about Jason, we can say that any classist shit Bruce has ever said about Jaybin is more DC speaking through him than his actual character. And also, it is weird af to have a man that believes in infinite second chances and bad guys becoming good, to also believes children born from criminals will become criminals. The math isn't mathing, DC.
Anyway, 80s Bruce loved his studious adorable baby that stole his tires, and he has admitted his reasoning behind taking Jason in was "I miss having a kid around" and not actually "Jason will become a criminal if I don't intervene".
#i hate it it doesn't make sense to me to have him think that about children when he believes adults that killed can become better#an example of how dc does mischaracterize bruce#batman#bruce’s parenting

If you could stop any one thing from happening in comics (New 52, No More Mutants, The Vertigo/DC Merger and The Killing Joke as examples, though feel free to go beyond), what would you stop and why?
Paul Levitz persuading Dan Didio to stay at DC in 2003 instead of going back to television, leading to him being announced as DC's Executive Editor in 2004 and eventually co-publisher in 2010:
I feel as though any further explanation I can give would just be redundant.
#somewhere out there there's a world where mark waid got the executive editor job instead and that world is much brighter than ours#dc comics#anti dan didio#batman

“I feel bad enjoying/reblogging this because canon Bruce Wayne is an abusive piece of shit” is such an unnecessary addition in the tags of my posts. Can I not have a fluffy batfamily/batdad headcanon in peace? You guys are so married to one (1) version of Bruce Wayne and you’re making it everyone else’s problem to what…have us feel bad too?
You can enjoy things that are “bad” or don’t line up perfectly with your worldview. Please stop doing this.

tbh this is a Thing that happens to a fandom on any social media platform. like i can say the exact same thing with tiktok, facebook, reddit, even tumblr
u absolutely can curate your experience on twiter, but it entirely relies on who you follow and what you engage with (regardless of whether or not the nature of the engagement had been positive or negative. like if you're arguing against something the algorithm wont care about your stance it just picks up that you're interacting with the topic)
there has always been people who talk about media without ever rlly getting into said media, and socmed as a whole makes it easy for people to share their thoughts publicly (no matter how ill informed or misguided they may be)
witnessing a huge (vocal?) chunk of the "damian community" on Twitter getting crazy things wrong about basic canon, and it's really making me re-evaluate if it's even possible to curate a bubble there 😵💫😭💀...
I know not everyone reads comics but... I mean, c'mon... comic fans should be reading comics, right? If you want to speak on character accuracy, you should be reading the basics... RIGHT?????????

Bruce and Dick in Batman: Full Circle!!
It was so nice to see their duo and their bond again in this comic! This was like, a prime example of Bruce not being able to vocalize 'worry' properly, and of Dick still understanding what he meant/where he was coming from anyway.
It's an interesting thing, too, that even though Dick understands that Bruce cares for him, there's still a part of him that thinks he's replaceable.
And the part where it's Dick's call that snaps Bruce out of the drug-enhanced-visions (if thats what you can call them) inflicted onto him... about the night his parents were shot... his greatest trauma...
They mean the world to each other!!

Hal Jordan Reading List
|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯| ¯¯¯/ /¯¯¯\ \¯¯¯ | | | | __\ \__/ /__ |_____________|
❝ Hal Jordan – he’s the anti-Batman. Batman has everything mapped out seven ways, while Hal will jump off a cliff and figure out how not to die on his way down. ❞
- Kurt Busiek
Q: Why is Hal killing all these people? I thought he was a good guy? Why does he have thigh-high boots?
A: In January of 1994 (Green Lantern v3 048) Hal’s home aka Coast City is destroyed by Mongul while battling Superman. Hal kind of goes insane and basically turns into a supervillain named Parallax who only wants to “fix” the universe. The writers have stated in various interviews that they were rushed for time so if the story seems rushed & out of place well.. it’s because it is. Still, it’s a part of Hal’s history! The whole thing was basically retconned in Green Lantern: Rebirth by Geoff Johns. The boots are because Parallax is really just a big a drama queen. Hal is Parallax from 1994-1996.
Q: Why is Hal a big tortured green ghost? I thought he was Green Lantern?
A: After the events of Final Night Hal gets sent to purgatory and is only released to become the Spectre, the Spirit of Vengeance in the DC Universe. The Spectre basically needs a human host in order to exist on the physical plane so Hal is chosen because he feels like he deserves to be punished for what he’s done. Hal the Spectre from 1999-2004.
Q: Who’s Hal? I thought Green Lantern was John/Kyle/Guy/Simon/Jessica–
A:
Boy do I have news for you…..
This is my recommended reading order that I think will give you a good introduction to Hal Jordan as a character.
You could always start at the chronological beginning and make your way forwards, but that usually isn’t the best way to get into a character. Start with the stuff that will get your attention and is easier to digest, and then you can go hard and dive into the huge volume of works all about my favorite green boy.
Q: How do I read these? I’m broke af!
A: There are many places to read comics online! Readcomiconline.to has most of these! If you need to read first online and then when you get $$ buy them IRL or online (with Comixology, Amazon, etc.) then I don’t judge you.
Q: I have a question about (insert continuity question here) or (insert random comic here)..
A: I’m always open to asks about anything related to my son. :’) HMU! I will explain everything I promise.
Q: You missed one / there’s a typo in this list / I think you should have put x comic in y section..
A: If you think I missed anything please let me know! I may have forgotten one, or there may be a Hal comic lurking around that I haven’t read.. doubtful.. but it’s a possibility..
Any suggestions about reading order please send as well! I’m always open to changing the list/having convos about my son.
Q: Are there any new comics with Hal comic out rn??
A: Yes! Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps gets updated every 2 weeks. There’s also a Green Lantern / Star Trek series called Stranger Worlds, and a Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern series that are both on-going. Hal will also make an appearance in Flash v5 024 (june 14), and will be featured in the upcoming DC event-prequel called Dark Days - The Casting 001 and also in the DC Metal event in certain issues (which #s are unconfirmed). He is currently not on the Justice League title.
Darkseid War: Green Lantern
Green Lantern: Rebirth
Green Lantern: No Fear
Green Lantern v4 a.k.a. Geoff John’s run 001-042
Blackest Night (043-052)
Green Lantern v4 053-067
Green Lantern v5
Green Lantern: Future’s End
Hal & the Green Lantern Corps (current on-going series)
Now you have a basic introduction to Hal Jordan’s character and what he’s all about. Now it’s time to start in on some of his relationships! Hal’s main relationships in his life are: Carol Ferris, Barry Allen, and Oliver Queen. Carol is his on-again off-again romance spanning from the 60s to mid-GL v5. Barry, a.k.a. the Flash, is his best friend. Oliver Queen is his other good friend.

Green Lantern v5 001, 003-007, 020
DC: The New Frontier

Now that you have a grasp on Hal’s relationships, I have a few favorite one-shots and Hal appearances that I think are excellent reads.

Green Lantern - Ganthet’s Tale
Green Lantern - Willworld
JLA / Spectre - Soul War

Harley’s Little Black Book 002
JLA 035, 115-120
JLA: Year One 001-012
Alright now you’re ready to sink deep into the rest of Hal Jordan history. Basically the best thing to do at this point is to start at the beginning and work your way up to present day! NOTE: I have included every single appearance of Hal (not already mentioned above) in this section so I put a lot of it under a READ MORE! Don’t miss out on it if you’re on mobile! :-)
