Fandom culture is filled with bottoms. Y'all be calling these mfers "daddy" and saying you want them to rail you.
I be wanting to blow their backs out in an abandoned parking lot and then buy them a 2 for $3 from McDonald's, before leaving them at their house and never making it clear what our relationship is.

Collage riddler x male reader au
Roommate Cuddles
Edward Nashton x Male Reader
Word Count: 1242
Contains / Warnings: Confessions, Cuddles, Mentions of Anxiety, Mentions of Alcohol, Fluff, Suggestive Stuff, Omg they were roommates.
(A/N: I’m back, have quick little fluff as a treat. Also yes I used this banner before.)
You had a really weird roommate. That wasn't you being overly judgmental, that was just a simple observation. It could've been much worse with the entire plan of becoming roommates with a random stranger. But there was no way in hell you could pay for rent with your cashier job, and you would rather die then befriend someone at this point. So your only option was him.
One Edward Nashton, the relatively shy guy that was going to attend your collage, with the added bonus of having a job to pay the bills. It was practically perfect.
And it was rude but even when meeting him there was a part of you that hoped Edward would spend the majority of his time away. But that couldn't be further from the truth. You couldn't even judge in all honesty since you were in the same boat as him. Your antisocial behavior that was worsened by your anxiety, it all lead to staying in your shared shitty apartment then going out to enjoying the collage life. Edward was probably the only other person you talked to outside of classes or work, and just like you he was the same.
It was awkward at first, both of you hanging around the apartment only being able to start the most stilted of small talk before it died off into uncomfortable silence until one of you called it quits and went back to your room. But there was a slow change, and it started when those god awful conversation starters actually revealed what interests you both had in common. Quickly warming up to him after that, being charmed by his odd personality that you originally thought would've been a point of contention. You two clicked after that and that was all you really needed to get attached to one another.
It became a usual occurrence to hang out in the living room. At first using the excuse of studying together, but that quickly turned to times where you just enjoyed each others company. From playing games together, trying new budget foods to mixed results, or simply rambling about whatever your minds went to. And today was one of those days, with both of you lazily sitting on the couch. The entire vibe changing when you pulled out a bottle of whine, a joke gift for Edward getting a promotion, a whole 5 cents difference. It became a blurry night with both of you taking swigs from the bottle, talking about your day, mainly complaining about classes. But it didn't take long for things to take a turn.
"Yeah, I feel like I'm starved—I would have died if touch starvation was a thing." It was a lame passing comment from your buzz, you didn't even remember what started that conversation. But it lead to an odd moment as Edward stared at you nervously, struggling to speak up as he gulped down the wine. "So you uh, never cuddled anyone?" "Obviously not." There was a small pause, his eyes locked directly to yours as you felt yourself become a little nervous, maybe more from embarrassment then anything. "Wanna test it out then?" Edward suddenly asks.
You were visibly taken aback at his offer, Edward softly cursing under his breath, like he realized just how weird that was. "I mean, I'm not... against it. Guess it's good to try new thing." You reply, scratching the back of your neck with a timid smile. "You don't have to, I mean you don't have to settle with me for that." Edward gestures at himself with a forced laugh and that oddly made you feel a little defensive on his part. "Come on, Ed. Who the hell would I trust to cuddle with? I hate the majority of people." He looked away at that, becoming a flustered mess so much that he had to bite down a smile.
"So then... how do we do this?" Edward stood up as a way to start, placing the almost empty bottle to the side with a groan. You laid down with open arms, a teasing smile spreading around your face. "Come here, dude." Edward stood there for a second, with a face like he thought he was about to do something wrong. It took you calling his name again for him to finally lay on top of you, so carefully, like you were made of glass. "Relax. I can handle you." You try to soothe while gently pulling him closer. Edward furiously apologized while trying to shift into a more comfortable position. You couldn't help but let out a chuckle as Edward hesitantly laid his head against your chest before letting out a sigh when your arms wrapped around him. He was going to make a passing comment but it always died off. He couldn't even lie, this was a dream come true, feeling so close to your warmth and scent, it was enough to make Edward nuzzle his cheek against you for just a little more.
And you both stayed that way for who knows how long, losing track of time as you dozed off in each others arms. Only being woken up when bringing up something to keep your minds distracted from it's sleepiness, always dying into random ramblings.
"You're enjoying this, aren't you?" You playfully tease as your grip around him tightened, feeling him hug your torso with a small huff. "Pft, no." "That's a shame, I was gonna ask if you wanted to do this more." Edward paused. "... I really like this then." He said while hiding his face into the crook of your neck. "Yeah, me too." You whisper with a hand moving up to his neck, your thumb gently rubbing his cheek as you heard him let out another sigh.
"I can never imagine doing this with anyone but you." Edward confessed, his hands running down your sides. Fluttering your eyes closed, you let out a small noise as Edward kept his hands on you. You wanted to say something, ask him more but you stopped yourself, instead choosing to stay in the moment to focus on his voice and hands. And Edward kept going, whispering to you confession after confession.
"Ed, you're making me feel so many things. And I don't wanna make you regret this." You groan as he gently kissed under your jaw. "I won't regret this, I promise." He mumbled before going back to littering your neck with kisses.
"Fuck, I really really like you." You let out a lighthearted laugh, feeling him slowly stop. "I guess I kinda see you as my boyfriend sometimes."
"Do you mean it?" "Of course—" "No, like you're not joking, right?" Edward looked up at you with furrowed brows, pain lacing his face and voice. You were a little speechless, your mind blanking at how desperate he seemed. It was enough to make you sit up to tilt his head up at you.
"Eddie, who else would I want to be my boyfriend? Who else could it be but you? You're the only person I want to stick besides and I mean that." Edward couldn't stop from smiling, suddenly hiding his face in his hands, letting out a broken laugh. "Holy shit, are you crying?" You quickly go to comfort him, grabbing his wrists as he shook his head frantically. "It's the whine, These are—They're happy tears. I just thought that this could never happen." Edward laughed again before wiping his running tears. You took that as sign, leaning closer to him with a grin. "Wow, We really are walking stereotypes. Close roommates."
"Roommates for life?" He jokingly asks.
"Roommates for life." You reply.

Edward with a boyfriend who is also a killer and edward was their biggest fan
Slasher Smasher
Edward Nashton x Male Reader
Word Count: 1256
Contains / Warnings: Established relationship, Obsessive behavior, Fluff if you really squint, Killer reader, Ngl Ed is basically a true crime fan, something quick since i’ve been so busy.
Gotham was a crime central, that was obvious to anyone who even knew about the place. It's name like a looming threat that already brought up a horrible picture, with one solved case there would be 10 unsolved ones in their place. That was just how things were, something that caused uncertain fear to the average citizen, but it was something that interested Edward beyond belief.
Seeing it as just another puzzle only he could solve. A challenge that he was able to overcome.
Especially when they were details about your cases.
Even before dating he was obvious about it, warning you that he often liked to theorized about who did it. Everything down to the weapon, the layout, and even motive.
But you didn't mind, of course, as it soon became something you enjoyed hearing him passionately ramble on about.
You were leaning against the door frame to Edward's bedroom, a wrapped up box hidden behind your back while looking on at his hunched form over his laptop. Every now and then going through the scattered papers on his bed, the sound of Gotham daily news playing softly in the background.
You have secretly been the Gotham Slasher for years now. A part of yourself that you kept hidden from everyone, taking some pleasure knowing no one knew what was hiding underneath the surface.
Even when getting with the riddle obsessed man you had planned to keep it under wraps, so it was a rather pleasant surprise when Edward suddenly developed an obsession with your unsolved murders.
And it quickly became like a reward after that. The tedious months that lead up to the kill made it all worth it when hearing Edward analyze it, like a cherry on top of a well earned treat.
"Have you taken a break?" You interrupt as Edward looked up with tired eyes, bags more darker then you remembered. That was all you needed for an answer, slowly making your way to him. Edward couldn't even argue when you pulled his laptop to the side before gently pushing him back with one hand. He finally laid down with an accompanying groan as you swear you could hear his bones crack when he stretched so slightly.
"Wow, you really need to put a timer on, no wonder your neck hurts." You muttered as he only whined in response, sinking into his pillow with closed eyes. You smile a little at his response, settling down on the edge of the bed, placing the wrapped up box on the floor next to your feet.
You held your tongue wondering how to go on about this, nervousness causing you to fidget with the bed covers.
"So have any theories about the Clancy case? Heard about it this morning." You finally bring up, seeing him perk up with instant interest, biting back a smile.
"Wow that's so insensitive, babe. It's such a horrible tragedy, really...But—" Edward grins, stumbling out his bed. A small part of you mad he didn't rest a little longer yet another part happy to hear him talk.
"Now it's a working theory but I think it could've been the Gotham Slasher. I've said before that they originally used different types of killing methods to throw the police off. But with how big their body count is, it's been harder to hide it, which luckily means we can now separate them into a few methods."
He took a deep breath in, bringing out a notebook from his messy desk and flipping through the pages before pointing at one with enthusiasm.
"From what I've been able to tell. They use a type of hunter's knife for their more personal kills—one of his popular methods. I theorized a Buck 110 type."
You couldn't help but admire as he went on and on, gesturing at his notebook everytime he brought up a point. From being able to tell the killer's usual schedule for their victims, to possible ideas of their main location, his eyes lightening up at the idea of getting closer to an identity. He almost forgot to breath for a second only being able to when you interrupted him.
He was always cute like this, a part of you wanting to back down to keep this going but you knew he was actually right. He really was close to finding you out and it was about time to come clean to your partner.
"You really thought about this, huh? It's like you've been chasing him around the city yourself."
Edward could only sheepishly shrug, a little bashful when realizing he went off on a tangent again. Only being calmed when you grabbed his shoulder reassuringly.
"What about him is so interesting? I've never seen you obsess over any criminal like this."
He just looked down at his notebook, fingers tracing over his notes in thought. "I don't know, Just a random fascination. I mean they make it a show, a message to everyone in the city. The way he can just stay hidden while making those corrupt people shudder—it's so..." Edward let's out a breathy laugh full of admiration, settling on the bed next to you with a grin.
"And I feel like right now I've been the closest to finding out who they are, more then ever."
"They got an interesting aspect to their kills, It's uh—" Edward went suddenly quiet after closing the worn down notebook. His green eyes focusing on the cover for a brief second before continuing.
"There's something about them. It's odd. They have something that's..."
"Familiar?" You finish the sentence.
"You're taking this better then I thought," You joke as he frantically paced around his room, "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
He goes silent again, eyebrows furrowing when you gently laid the wrapped up box in his lap. He looked up only to be met by your excited smile, his fingers soon trailing down the box's red ribbon before tugging it free. Yet he paused, too anxious to open it up.
"What is this?" He asked softly.
"A reward for a job well done."
You could sense him holding his breath, slowly lifting the top to reveal his prediction to be right. A buck 110 knife laid neatly in the middle.
He whipped his head back up, his eyes widening with disbelief, "What—This is a joke, right? You're not being serious?"
You shake your head as Edward hesitantly picked up the knife. Fingers gently grazing past the blade like he was still processing what was happening. After a bit he dropped it on the wooden floor with a loud clank, freezing like a deer in headlights.
"No, no, this is—this is crazy! This isn't happening."
"What would be the fun in that?" You tease while leaning back, watching him collectively lose his shit as he rambled on how this wasn't real.
"Eddie." You try to snap him out of it, failing as he suddenly turned to you.
"Oh my God, You're the Gotham Slasher!" He started laughing, pushing his hair back while looking at you. "I'm dating the Gotham Slasher!"
"Keep it down, someone's gonna hear you." You hiss while he excitedly picked up the hunter's knife from the floor before walking over to you. His other hand soon grabbing your own as Edward pulled you closer to him.
"You have to tell me everything from now on—No, You have to show me." He whispers into your ear, "I want to see every part of this side of you now. The pretty, the ugly, the bloody, everything that you are."
"It sounds like you want in."
"Maybe I do, maybe I don't." He teases as he hands you the knife with a small smile, "but I do know that I'll be cheering you on."

Diner Bird || Part 1
“One sleepless night after your shift as Robin, you come across a dingy diner to pass the time. You never expected to met a certain stranger that you’ll quickly befriend. Not knowing just what the future holds for you.”
Edward Nashton x GN! Reader
Requested by Anonymous: “hello! can i maybe request a Edward Nashton x robin reader?“
Word Count: 2784
Contains / Warnings: Implied obsessive behavior, Fluff if you really squint, Get ready for angst next chapter.
You now understood how it felt to lose yourself to a title, How the connection to a mask could make your life like a hazy dream that you could burly remember. It made an odd type of loneliness, something within.
Maybe that's what Bruce saw in you, someone who was tired of being on the sidelines, with their life passing by to eventually meet a bitter end. But your life took a turn when the Prince of Gotham himself took you under his wing, gifting you the title of Robin and the promise to be by his side. It completely changed your life around, giving you a purpose to latch onto. But was it for the best? You didn't quite know.
You look up from the newspaper, staring down at Bruce, who had been hunched over his desk for what seemed like hours now. This was nothing new, usually his quietness leading to hanging around him like a bothersome cat while he worked the night away. You put down the newspaper with a loud thud in an attempt to get his attention. "With the election a couple of months away, I'm getting really weird vibes. You think I'm being paranoid?"
Bruce only lightly hummed in response, still too focused on tinkering with his suit. Not satisfied with his answer, you made your way to the metal table, sitting on the edge with a pout. "Sooo, whatcha doing?" "Working on gauntlet prototypes." He bluntly answered, leaving you to raise a brow as all you could do was watch him continue on with careful hands. It only took a bit for him to slow down before glancing up at you, "Your shift is over. If you're bored you can leave anytime."
Leaning your head back, you let out an exaggerated sigh. "What could I do this late at night though?" "Don't you have friends?" He asked in a dull tone, making you instantly respond without thinking. "Do you?" You freeze when you realized what you just blurted out, noticing Bruce's small glare before returning to his work, making you feel even worse. "I'm sorry. Didn't mean it that way."
He didn't even bother to respond. Yep. That was your sign to go, before you made things even more awkward for the both of you. Quickly grabbing your coat, you made your way to the elevator with a small stilted goodbye.
But leaving one problem only led to another. What the hell could you do now? With it being late and the rain pouring down. All you could really do was mindlessly ride your car through the dark streets of Gotham.
It wasn't after drifting off into a haze that you perked up when the lights of a neon sign attracted your eyes, the words 'Open 24/7' making you slow down to have a better look. It was for a worn down diner in a hid off corner, Nothing remarkable but for you? You were really craving a coffee right now.
You didn't hurry at all, taking your time to distract yourself with your surroundings and mundane actions. Even when making your way inside, you ignored the grimy feel that seemed to fill every crack and corner of the city. Simply giving a small smile to the obvious overworked waitress. Ordering a caramel latte while taking a seat on the spent out leather stool.
It took no time before you heard the waitress set a cup near you as you were too distracted looking around the lonely joint. With a small 'Thanks' you took a sip, knowing full well this was probably worsening your caffeine addiction. But honestly this was more peasant then you thought it was gonna be. A moment of peace as all you heard was the pitter patter of rain, and the television softy playing late night sitcoms in the background. You didn't even pay attention when you heard the front door open with it's ringing bell. You took another sip, being in your own small bubble as you stared off into nothing. Memories of tonight fighting replaying again and again, making you feel a familiar pit in your stomach.
"Sorry, you're four dollars short." You overheard, slightly turning your head, seeing it as a distraction to eavesdrops on. "Oh um—I'm sorry. I swear I had five bucks here." You head a soft voice speak along with the rustling of clothes. "Look honey, either pay up or order something cheaper."
"I'll pay the rest," You suddenly interrupt. The man with glasses looked on in surprise as you lifted a couple of bucks from your wallet. "Would hate for someone to catch a cold in this weather." You gave a friendly smile at the stranger, the waitress taking the money but not after glancing at both of you in suspicion.
The stranger awkwardly stood still, keeping his head down while his hands kept fidgeting with a small book and pen. "You can sit here with me. I'm not gonna bite." "Thank you," Edward mumbles while taking the seat next to you before his hands opened up the book to it's near end, revealing a half done crossword puzzle. Even when looking down at it, Edward would not-so-subtly take a few timid glances at you.
"So you got a late night shift like me?" You try to start, seeing him struggle to respond. Eventually shaking his head. "I can't seem to sleep tonight. I usually drive around—I decided to try something new tonight." "Heh, guess we're nocturnal animals. Deep down inside." You comment before taking another sip from your cup. Edward slowly turned to you, his green eyes taking in your appearance and features almost like he was trying to analyze you. You mirror him with curiosity and he seemed to quickly realize just how creepy it seemed, choosing to focus on the coffee that was being placed in front him instead. Never being the kind to let things down, you gesture at his puzzle book. "I wish I was good at those things, always end up raging."
"They're just little things for fun. Not that important really." Edward softly tried to dismiss, but you weren't having any of that. "Being able to solve things like that says a lot about a person. It's necessary in a way." "I wouldn't say they're necessary for life though." "Well, I think life is a puzzle. It explains why I suck so much at it." You let out a chuckle, feeling a little joy when his lips formed a half smile. "I'm good at them and life still sucks for me. Guess it's all down to luck at the end of the day." "Luck? Like how we've met right now?" You couldn't help but tease, seeing the man get visibly taken aback. "Hard to tell what's in store when you're burly making it to the entrance..." Edward's voice almost died out at the end, like he lost his confidence halfway through when your eyes met once again. "Is that a promise to check out what's in store?" You playfully ask, Edward's mind almost overheating at your boldness. "Maybe? I don't—I don't really know." "Hm, Let's get the ball rolling then. What's your name?" The stranger looked hesitant to answer, his leg anxiously bouncing against the tiled floor. "Ed—It's Edward Nashton." Yeah, this guys was too adorable for his own good. You quickly reply with your name, shaking his hand before his attention returned back to his book, you looked on with interest as the sound of his pen scribbling away was almost hypnotic. It was after a bit that you decided you weren't done teasing him just yet. "What's your fastest record?"
"I've never timed myself..." "Up for the challenge then?" You taunt him with a playfully smirk, as a response he flipped the page to a new one while looking up at you, "Got a timer on your phone?" He confidently said with a smile.
That was the first time you met Edward, the point where your life turned around like Bruce had done before. That night ending with the vague promise of being there next Friday, but that was all you both needed to get attached to one another. What was originally a random night at a dingy diner became many nights at a new safe haven.
With those days becoming weeks that eventually bled into months, Edward became a close friend in your eyes as you clicked almost instantly to his unusual personality.
It became scarily easy to go into deep talks out of nowhere that would somehow divert to the most bizarre things you both could come up with. Leading to moments of dying laughter, along with cringey but lighthearted times like squirting coffee out your nose when caught off guard by a crude joke, or the times you had to pause your deep conversations when a stray customer came in. For the first time you found someone else to pass these nights with, a new reminder that there was something outside of being in the shadows as Robin. While you loved Bruce, truly with all your heart, his silence always felt cold. And with his titles as Gotham's Prince along Batman, it made him seem like an untouchable concept. But Edward was anything but that, he was completely odd—Someone so meek but could change in the blink of an eye. It made it addicting to see the range his personality could go, it made seeing him even more addicting.
Of course, your trips to see the riddle obsessed man didn't go unnoticed by the bat and his butler, especially when you always made your way out the hideout in such a giddy hurry. The two already having discussed it behind your back as a point of concern, Alfred was encouraging at the idea of you finally socializing while Bruce could only halfheartedly agree, a secret part of him feeling protective over you that mixed with an unfounded ominous feeling.
___
The diner was full of laughter once again, your hand gripping the counter to support yourself from falling over as he gripped your shoulder to keep himself up. "Okay—Okay! I got another one." Clearing his throat before speaking, Edward tried his best to stop from breaking into fits of laughter. "Some people prefer being on top, others prefer being bottom, and it always involves a bed—" "Bitch, us?" You interrupt as he quickly choked on his saliva, leading to a domino effect of you laughing even harder that Edward couldn't help but mirror. "Stop—I can't fucking breathe, Stop!" He says between laughs and desperate gasps. It took a while to finally settle yourselves and fully calm down, both your faces now sore from constant grinning as the waitress passed by with an annoyed glare. You finally take that as a sign to drink your coffee in a small attempt to rehydrate. Edward finally glances up after gently putting his drink down, his demeanor changing slightly.
"This is sort of sudden, but I noticed..." Edward starts off with a polite smile, "You've never told me about your life out of here. I don't know what your number is, not even what job you have."
"Because it's not interesting." You slightly lie, only to notice his smile somehow change once again. "I don't believe that." He smugly said, almost all knowing, making you audibly huff. "What? Are you psychic now too?" "I actually know every thing about you." Edward stated with that changed smile, eyes squinting with something you couldn't quite explain. You instead take it at face value; An odd sarcastic joke. "How about this, You tell me something about your life and in return I'll tell you something about mine." He hummed in agreement while swallowing his last bit of his coffee.
"I was a choir boy when I was little. It was kinda awful—" He started with a small chuckle, while you let out a small one along side him. "No fucking way—You? That makes sense now that I think about it. No offense." "None taken. But it's your turn for judgment now."
You pause, pursing your lips in thought before responding, "My parents were poor ass hell, but friends with a billionaire—Who now pays for my college." "That's why I sensed a hint of snobbery from you." He taunted as you pouted with a glare, taking it as a threat to continue. "I uh—I like to collect gift cards in my spare time. Vintage, new, thrifted. It doesn't matter." You gave Edward a curious glance to which he tilted his head with a shrug. "There's something about it—The cards that is. Brings some kind of nostalgic feeling, even if I never got them as a kid." You just listen to him, noticing the way he gleamed before suddenly stopping with an apologetic look. "I got carried away, sorry. It's your turn now."
You rest your chin on the palm of your hand with a teasing smile. "I changed my mind actually. I wanna remain mysterious." That smile turned to a grin when hearing him let out a defeated whine and mumbled complaints.
Your attention flicked to the television for a brief second, nothing but campaign ads and reminders for tomorrow's final debate showing. It was enough to wipe your grin, like it was a reminder of the grim reality out there, outside this little bubble in this small diner. That uncertain feeling that had lingered on for so long creeping back up again with a chill. "I feel like everything's getting crazier, isn't it?" You mumble, Edward only shrugged while pulling out his wallet. "It's Gotham, if it isn't crazy you should be even more worried."
"Yeah but I feel like we're at a tipping point, either things are gonna get better or much worse." "Things always get worse around here." Edward frowns in thought, ignoring your concerned stare. "I don't believe that, I think it's good to have a little hope. Even in a place like this. It's all we have." "What happens when you get tired of hoping? Wishing on stars?" He looks up at the television with pure disdain. Something you rarely saw from him, It made you hesitant to speak up but you knew you had to be the positive one here. "You never stop wishing, you just get better at lying to yourself that you have." Edward looked at you, his eyebrows still furrowed yet eyes softening at your gaze. It made you feel fuzzy for a second before your cynical side came up, shaming you for it.
"So should we head out now? I gotta sleep soon, my boss is already complaining about my less then perfect sleep schedule. Not that he even tries to fix it." You stand up, hands straightening out your coat as Edward followed with a disappointed frown.
It was always bittersweet when leaving to go your separate ways, secretly wanting to walk by his side for a bit longer but still too terrified to even ask. You took a deep breath when exiting out the diner, being met with a harsh cold breeze yet it didn't stop your face from heating up; Tonight you decided you were going to take a step forward.
You suddenly turn to Edward with a timid look, clasping your hands together. "You wanna hang out later—like outside this place?" You swear you were about to slap yourself at how painfully awkward that delivery was. But it was like a miracle from the stars when he didn't comment on it.
Instead Edward pushed his glasses up, turning his head in a subtle way to hide his shy smile. "I would...Really like that, actually." You had to stop yourself from grinning by the sheer excitement his words brought you. Fumbling like an idiot as you reached into your pocket, pulling out your phone. "Can I get your number then?" He took no time to take your phone, typing his number with an underling bittersweet joy. Soon giving it back, not hiding the light gasp when your fingers faintly touched.
You both stood there for a moment, taking in each others sight, like you wanted these seconds to last for a lifetime.
Before you could do anything Edward suddenly wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a hug as you froze there, completely bewildered. A part of you felt like your heart was going to beat out your chest, the other feeling a newfound comfort by this unfamiliar warmth and the scent of him so close. You couldn't help but hug back, closing your eyes to take this in. Not noticing how his arm move so slightly down to your side. It felt like the moment was cut short when he finally pulled away, being surrounded with the lonely cold once again that made you wish he lingered a little longer. "I'll see you soon." He softly whispers before walking off, leaving you completely dazed in rose tinted glasses.
It felt like that moment would forever glimmer like a diamond in your mind, yet it only took one night for that memory to shatter like glass instead.

Stalker Trouble
You break the golden rule of "don't stick your dick in crazy" when you rail your stalker in an alley.
Edward Nashton x Male Reader (18+)
Word Count: 2571
Contains / Warnings: Smut, Stalking, Obsessive behavior, Exhibitionism, First Time, Reader has a dick lol, Dubious consent, Humiliation kink(?), Submissive Edward, No Prep, Riddler giving a certified creep moment.
Luck was never on your side and these past couple of months only solidified that fact.
You first noticed it when working, a certain customer sitting alone while huddled at a table in a far off corner. Staying there for an ungodly amount of time compared to everyone only to simultaneously disappear when your shift was over. You wouldn't have thought much if it stayed like that, but it wasn't until you caught glances of a certain brunette when passing by your usual shortcut that you started getting a hint something was off.
Eventually he started getting more bolder when you didn't 'overreact' to his presence, taking it like you were giving him permission to go further.
Few weeks later when coming home you noticed your front door unlocked, the sheer panic you felt that your stalker was getting reckless or worse- not bothering to cover his tracks at this point. You did everything you could after that, everything a minimum wage waiter in Gotham could really do. You called the police multiple times but with Gotham's high crime rate especially on the more nefarious side, the cops didn't exactly care about a small break-in on the broken downtown side of Gotham.
So you tried to take matters into your own hands that didn't cost a million dollar. Simple things like changing locks, installing a bunch of other ones to the point where you looked like a paranoid mess. Yet it didn't stop them one bit in fact it made the situation worse as you were both now fully aware of one another knowing.
And so the 'gifts' started showing up while your things started to disappear.
Polaroid photos of you in your apartment taken from your windows, a shit ton of cards with riddles and unstable writings you couldn't even make out. What finally broke you was one of your favorite shirts to lounge in went missing along with pairs of boxers. It was honestly creepy knowing your stalker was the perverted kind but it only took a bit before your fear turned into annoyance- with the cops not doing anything and your money basically being wasted with no results you were ready to punch someone. It was after a particular grueling day at work that you were on your wits end, full on pissed off at everything and everyone, especially when the last thing you wanted to deal with when coming home was a god damn stalker.
And those feelings tripled when walking down your familiar shortcut through a dark alley, hearing light footsteps against the wet pavement behind you. Your mind instantly knowing who it was like a six sense. Your walk slowed until fully stopping just to hear his footsteps mirroring you along with his light panting filled with anticipation. You tiredly sigh before turning on your heel, finally being face to face with the shorter man who was now froze in place. Him giving you doe-eyes behind his clear glasses while anxiously fidgeting with his jacket, like he wasn't the one who's been harassing you these pass few months.
Before he could run off at seeing your pissed off face, you grabbed his jacket, pulling him back and pining him against the brick wall, "So you're the bitch that's been stalking me?!"
"Stalker? I'm not a stal-"
"Oh save it, you've been getting on my fucking nerves!" He looked at you wide eyed before his eyebrows furrowed like you had hurt his feelings, "I-I've been good though..."
"Good? You've been breaking into my house!"
"I know that, that's why I sent you those cards to apologize..." Edward mumbles making you scoff at his delusion, "That isn't enough to get my forgiveness- You know how much cash I spent to keep you out!? So what should I do now that I caught you, huh? Beat you till you're one breath away from death? Maybe I'll drag you across the city by the hair to show you off."
Clearly panicking at your threats, he started shouting like crazy, "But the cards I sent! You can't do this to me! No, no, no! I'll stop- Please!" He thrashes around but you easily kept him against the wall leading to him becoming even worse. You felt yourself being pushed to your limit- He was the one who made your life a living hell yet now he was trying to act like the victim? You didn't even stop to think when suddenly grabbing him by the neck and almost like a switch went off he instantly stopped, instead looking up at you anxiously for your next move.
With the newfound silence it took you a second to realize this was the first time you got a good look at him that wasn't from a blurry distance and that's when your mind instantly gave you an intrusive thought- This guy was really cute...in an awkward way? Looking at you in fear with his hands by his side. Too scared to even touch you.
Oh no. There was no way you were feeling this way for the likes of him. Your taste for questionable men on full display as you full on checked him out with no filter. And almost as quick you had another intrusive thought.
"...I'll give you a punishment that keeps you alive. You accept?"
"Accept what?" He asks but you stay don't reply, still waiting for his answer. Edward looked around the dingy alley before giving a hesitant nod, still not knowing what he just agreed to.
"That's a good boy" You tease suddenly lifting him off the ground, arms wrapping around his lower waist as he let out a yelp. Edward looked at you wide eyed before he could say anything you quickly interrupted him, "Shut it, you're gonna take anything I give you."
He stayed quiet more in shock then anything as you easily moved him around. Resting him between your thighs, forcing him to wrap his legs around your waist and grab your shoulders for support, his back against the brick wall as another form of security. You both had a moment where you looked at each other, your eyes eventually trailing down Edward's soft face before it fixated on his neck. You gently kiss it experimentally, hearing a small gasp as you couldn't help but further it. Slowly licking and then full on abusing his neck once you got a taste, littering it in bruises and hickeys, his whimpers only fueling you. You could feel him slowly start grinding against your crotch, enjoying this more then he ever thought- Your attention becoming more addictive by the second then any photoshoot he had of you. He almost cried when you finally pulled away, Edward letting out a whine only to stop halfway when your hands started unbuttoning his dull green jacket, unzipping it as you pause for a second. Oh he looked completely embarrassed while wearing a very familiar missing shirt.
"Really... you've been wearing my shirt- are you wearing my boxers too?" You joke as he stays quiet, looking up at you like he was ready to cry.
"Oh my god..." you say in disbelief, "Well now I gotta see this..." You quickly pull Edward's pants down his thighs to finally be met with your stolen boxers with a noticeable bulge in them, he couldn't help but shiver at the cold air along with your judgmental eyes.
"Wow, that's fucking pathetic." You chuckle while teasingly tugging at them, "Want me to fuck you in them? Keep it as a little reminder." He looked away from you, to ashamed that the idea made his dick twitch. Before the smaller man could respond, you pulled them slightly down, only revealing his rear so you could grabbed it.
Were you really fucking your crazy stalker because he was your type? Especially in a place where you could easily get caught in the act? Yes and you were going to enjoy every second of it.
It was like Edward had that realization as well, quickly going into a panic when the idea of what was happening finally settled, "Wait please- Be gentle! I've never done this before..." He whispers as you go back to teasingly nipping at his neck, your hands caressing and groping his body, hearing him ramble on and on about being gentle and how crazy this was, "So you're a virgin then?" You finally bring up.
Edward stayed quiet, feeling his face heat up in embarrassment as his cute reactions only made you smirk, "Just cause of that I'm gonna make this even more memorable for you, make you feel it till next week." You tug your pants and boxers down your thighs with one hand. Your cock popping out as you gave it a few strokes, smearing your cock in your own pre-cum. Probably the only prep he was going to get as you lined it to his entrance, already feeling impatient. He squeezed his eyes shut when you lowered him, fighting his own body to stay still as he felt your tip go in. The grip on your shoulders tightening before he let out a pained groan when you slid further into him, the burning feeling of you stretching him out made his eyes start tearing up at the unfamiliar feeling.
When you finally bottomed out you could feel him trembling, shoving his face into the crook of your neck in an attempt to keep quiet.
"You're really tight- You're doing so good..." you whisper as Edward practically moaned at your praise. Taking almost no time to let him adjust, you started slowly thrusting into him. Hearing him ramble your name along with lewd intrusive thoughts that he had bottled up, it got you lost in the moment only pushing you further to get rougher. Hands gripping his hips while focusing on how hot and tight he felt around your cock. Seriously this guy had the lewdest body you ever seen or felt, you almost couldn't believe no one fucked him before.
"I can already tell you're naturally a whore, fuck!" Edward couldn't help but shudder at your words, the pain slowly mixing with pleasure when you quickened your pace. His moans were pathetically desperate when begging for more, his arms wrapping around your neck to pull himself closer to you, leaning his head back as he only got louder. You could feel himself shaking like crazy his body jolting and twitching with the feeling of you repeatedly abuse him.
You almost didn't notice until he was practically screaming your name...He was way too loud- or he just didn't have the self control to stop himself anymore. And at this point someone was going to hear him, even if you secretly enjoyed the idea of everyone knowing he was yours now.
"Shut up, someone's gonna catch us!" You hissed only for Edward to let out an apologetic whimper. Using one hand, you pull up his stolen shirt to his lips, leaving his stomach exposed to the cool night air.
"Bite it." You ordered as he instantly did, trying to gain any bit of praise from you. You quickly get back to the moment, both hands back on his hips to continue your pace, now hearing his muffled moans and pleads that hid the sound of skin against skin, quietly echoing through the alley.
It was degrading how he felt, the guy he's been in love with for months now taking his virginity in a place like this- simply because he wanted to let out his frustration on something. Thoughts of strangers walking by and seeing him getting fucked like he had no self-respect was enough to make him sob. But even as you rammed into him and the thought of getting caught scaring him, all he could think about was your pleasure, trying to clench around your cock while staring at you through tears. His mind thinking this was a twisted way of you confessing back to him, that you were giving him this as a reward.
He felt himself getting close, yet even as he got hit with wave after wave of pleasure, he tried his best to hold it in until he got your permission. But with the feeling of you hitting a certain spot it was almost enough to push him over the edge. You quickly noticing his muffled groan and shifted your hips to repeatedly abuse that certain spot, nails digging into his hips to the point where they were definitely going to bruised later. Edward was a sobbing mess at this point, every bit of pain and pleasure mixing together so well that he couldn't hold back anymore- feeling himself cumming almost violently into your boxers, his body tightening and shuddering around you like it was desperately trying to milk you.
"Mmh... I'm gonna-" you quickly pressed him against the wall with your body as you came shortly after, groaning directly next to his ear. Edward stopped biting your shirt, instead moaning your name softly with the feeling of being filled to the brim. You swear that was probably the hardest you came in a while as you savored the moment, your cock still twitching inside him for more. Taking a few minutes to catch your breath you finally slid out of him much to his disappointment, and although it was tempting to go back you wanted to enjoy the sight of his hole being red and stretched, clenching around nothing causing a bit of your cum to leak out onto the concrete floor.
Edward was panting heavily now, his head against the wall revealing his face to you- glasses slightly fogged, covered in a layer of sweat that made his hair stick to his forehead, and the look on his face- he was clearly out of it. In complete bliss with the feeling of being used by you and only you. You carefully let him down onto his feet yet he didn't let go of your neck, only weakly letting out a whine in defiance. Sighing in defeat- you let him have his way while pulling up his boxers that had an obvious wet stain on it along with his pants. You could still feel him trembling lightly, mumbling things like 'Thank you' and 'Again' under his breath.
"Hey, you good?" Edward slightly nodded, "Never been better..." He joked quietly before there was a noticeable silence as you quickly pulled up your own pants, just to be met with the feeling of him nuzzling your neck affectionally.
"So what's your name, big boy?" You ask, wanting to know your stalker and the guy you just railed in public.
"It's uh- Edward..."
You stayed quiet again in thought, you knew you'd probably regret this and that you were just rewarding his bad behavior but there was a small side of you that still thought he was kinda cute to form some sort of affection. The thought of leaving him here just felt wrong at this point- that and you didn't wanna get murdered from hurting his feelings.
So you close your eyes with a sigh, almost in disbelief what you were about to do.
"Uhm...Wanna go to my place? I rather you go home with me then break in or whatever..." you say hesitantly as Edward instantly smiled with a frantic nod.
He finally let's your neck go, but before you could take a few steps forward, you hear him instantly trip onto the floor with a loud groan. Quickly looking back to be met with his awkward smile looking up at you.
"H...Hey- Uh can you lend me a hand? I really can't walk at the moment..."
"Sure thing, Ed."

Can I Call You Tonight?
Bruce calls you in the middle of the night, you can instantly sense something is off only for him to tell you about a realization he had when remembering his parent’s relationship.
Bruce x GN! Reader
Word Count: 1125
Contains / Warnings: No pronouns used for reader, Established friendship, Friends to Lovers, Love confessions, Bruce talks about his parents, Small and quick fic for the homies.
It was late at night when you heard your phone buzzing loudly, the bright screen almost blinding as you groaned in bed. Hand aimlessly trying to grab it from the nightstand with your face buried into your pillow. When you finally did you stared at the screen with squinting eyes for a second until finally being able to make out the words 'unknown number' boldly there.
Shit...If he's calling you this late something must have gone down-
You take a deep breath before accepting the call, bringing it up to your ear only being met with unnerving silence.
"Uh- Hello?" Your horsed voice called out, your brain to sleepy yet nervously running to conclusions at the same time to even cringe at the way you sounded.
"Hey." You pause as that voice made it to your ears, your body doing a 180 as you jolted out of bed, not noticing him call out your name when you don't respond. You hear him repeat your name this time, so softly that you could miss it. Your mind rushing to come up with anything after hearing him use that voice on you. "Uh yeah I'm here- just was startled." Bruce stared down at his screen, the sounds of bats chirping in the distance. Already in his several layers of baggy clothes, yet the cold air still sent a shiver up his spine when he heard your voice.
"Yeah..." You raise a brow at his lack of conversation, Bruce had never been the most talkative of people but there was a difference in his tone that made everything almost have a daunting feel. Getting more anxious by the second you start to pace around your bedroom, focusing on the freezing cold floor as an attempt to distract yourself from just how slightly off everything felt.
"So you good? Why did you call me so late?" You finally get the courage to ask.
"I tried what you recommend and it worked."
"Calling to thank me for some programming advice? Doesn't sound like you." Your eyes looking around at every shadow that reminded you of the certain bat while waiting out another pause. "Bruce, you can tell me what's wrong." Quietly whispering into the phone, you finally hear him sigh.
"I just wanna hear your voice right now."
You almost dropped your phone at that, the thought of Bruce simply calling you for something as personal as that instead of having an underling goal or mission was a miracle. A miracle that scared you at this unfamiliar territory you were now on.
"Oh- Um...Okay. Wanna talk about your day then? You in your night shift still?"
"No, just finished up a while ago, I'm at the hideout right now."
"Hm, And how was it?" You try to continue knowing that any conversation with Bruce would mainly be one-sided but you didn't mind, it was only the moments of silence like now that made you uneasy. The thought of him ending the call abruptly always on the back of your mind.
"...Bruce?" You shyly called out.
"I saw something tonight, something that made me realize a lot- I don't know how to even say it to the point where I think it would be better to let it down." He sounded like he was thinking out loud, his voice more like a mutter that you could barely hear.
"Come on, you can't just say that and expect me not to wonder." You try to sound lighthearted only to be met with Bruce's somber words.
"I got reminded of my parents..."
"Oh-" you instantly regretted asking now, knowing this was painful territory.
"I've held memories of them just being my parents but I got reminded how much they really loved each other."
"Yeah, I think a lot of us have those moments. I think the older we get the more we appreciate or get humbled when seeing our parents as people." You say not trying to stir him away from the topic, yet still nervous to say anything with to much weight.
"You know... my dad always admired my mom so openly, especially around me. There wasn't a story he hadn't told me over a dozen times about their first dates. I hated it back then, thinking it was gross like every other kid would have." You just listen, letting him go on as you could sense him smiling at the other end of the call. A small moment of vulnerability you didn't wanna ruin. "And now I look back at those moments and can't help but think about what they had, something that I now know runs so deep."
"We all have hopes of meeting someone we can admire that much." You respond while settling down onto your bed again. Bruce let out a shaky breath before speaking up. "There's something else too. I needed to hear you, just to see... to confirm it." You notice his tone become even shyer, his voice almost giving out at the end.
"You can say it, don't worry."
"The way my dad spoke about her- the way he looked at my mom. I never knew what it meant back then but I think I do now. I finally know what makes a man act like that."
You stay quiet, the feelings of butterflies in your stomaching was enough to make your head dizzy, only being able to hang onto each and every word. "I think about you often. You cross my mind everyday. I dream of the stories we could tell, the things we could do."
You almost had to check this wasn't a dream, a cruel dream that you would wake up from soon. But no, it was as real as it could be. Yet you couldn't help but doubt this moment. "Bruce are you sure about this- to be telling me this?"
"I know I'm not the best at expressing myself and that there's still a small part of me that fears this... but I want to at least say it before I lose anything, if I somehow lose you."
You let out a small laugh in disbelief, rubbing your temple as you sat up. "You'll never lose me, I can't really leave your side." You smile, Bruce feeling the tips of his own lips tugging up for a brief moment.
"You swear? To stay by my side?"
You hum, looking out your window to see those twinkling city lights, the closest to stars in a city like this. "I rather say it to your face, give you a proper confession." You say playfully, only to be met with the sound of clothes shuffling. You nervously called out his name when you continue hearing the sound instead of his voice.
"Give me fifteen minutes." Was all he said, hanging up the call as you look at your phone in confusion. Only to instantly become flustered as you realized Bruce was going to give you exactly what you wanted.

The Riddler’s Shadow
“Being the other half of the Riddler isn't always easy, but seeing the city drown next to Edward makes it worth it.”
You visit Edward when he gets put in Arkham just to wait out the bombs and get some answers, not knowing he’ll finally ask you out tonight.
Edward Nashton x Male Reader
Word Count: 1574
Contains / Warnings: Accomplice Reader, Love confession, Flirting, Mentions of death, Edward says some fucked up shit ngl, Bonus Bruce part.
"Your lawyer is here," a gruff voice echoed through Edward's cell as he just stared straight ahead at the dull brick walls of Arkham. His full attention instead focusing on the time, obsessively counting the seconds in his mind even as he was lead to the visitation room. It took him a bit to prepare himself with the idea of seeing someone late at night when the clock was ticking, at least he could have a laugh seeing the lawyers face when everything goes off, he tried to tell himself instead of focusing on the underlining annoyance he had.
Edward almost let out a yelp as he was forcefully pushed into the room by a guard, letting out an angry huff while mumbling insults and threats. It wasn't until Edward looked up that he froze at the spot. Your figure calmly sitting down in the dingy lit room, a neat suit fitting your form as you smiled all knowing at him. "Hello, I'll be your attorney for this case, I apologize for interrupting so late but we've been in a tight schedule since your little incident." You teased as he continued to stand still his mouth slightly agape, leaving a silence in the air that was only interrupted by the door shutting closed, making a loud metallic clank echoes between you.
"You're here...what- how?" He said in shock as you chuckled lightly at his almost comedic expression "I got my ways, although it was a pain in the ass to get here in short notice but hey- I'm with you now and with time to spare." You sigh sitting more comfortably in the chair as he slowly sat on the one in his side of the room. His mind continued to race with the fact that you snuck your way to be with him, instead of running to your hideout like he told you too. Before he could say anything you interrupted instead.
"So do they know?" You question, Edward frantically shook his head making you slump your shoulders down in newfound relief, "They have no idea you even exist. Not even a theory of a second person."
"Ouch that hurts." You jokingly say as soon you and Edward broke out into smiles while staring at each other through the scuffed plexiglass, him whispering excitedly "We really played everyone, didn't we?" under his breath.
You scoff looking off to the side almost in thought as his smile slightly flattened, "Yeah but all this means is the start of a new game and I don't know how long I can keep my identity a secret." You rub the back of your sore neck, the past couple of months taking a toll on you. Especially your mental health with the fear of a certain Bat finding and beating you being a constant looming threat. Edward paused noticing your tired gestures and appearance, a small bit of guilt overriding him as he replayed the memories of all those sleepless nights working together, it wasn't till he realized you were staring at him that his mind focused back on your words.
"But we did it, our plans worked out! Now it's our follower's job to complete this" He said as you chuckle to yourself, "Of course it worked out, I'm literally the best... But I don't know how long that will last. I'm gonna be revealed soon- at least the idea that I exist is going to be known. And you know how I feel about being put on the spot."
"That could mean a new chapter for us though." Edward nervously brought up, making you raise a brow at him curiously, a sign for him to continue as he anxiously fumbled with his cuffs "You next to me- us side by side publicly as we make this city break and bend to our feet so we can rebuild it! Oh think of all the things we could do, all those dirty politicians shaking in their mansions cause they know we can easily wipe them off Gotham's streets!" He laughed his piercing eyes fully glued onto you, "I may be the face of the Riddler but you- you're the backbone, the shadow. YOU complete ME."
You look at him in complete surprise with how bold his words were, making you turn into a flustered mess. Usually the only time he had the courage to make any moves on you was when he was in his full Riddler get-up, because of that you were always in an odd position of never knowing what you both were. One second he would have you pinned against a wall, threating that he'll break you- another second he would be to nervous to even look you in the eyes. Yet here Edward was, asking you to reveal yourself by his side, so that everyone forever knows you as being the other half of the Riddler.
You stand up leaning closer to the glass as you couldn't help but slyly smirk at him, almost bordering into teasing him before finally responding, "If I didn't know any better I'd say were asking me out, Ed."
"Would you...I mean- uh," he stumbled over his words, anxiously looking down at his hands before taking a few quick glances up at you "...Would you want too? Do you accept me being...yours?"
"I would've kissed you the second I got here if it wasn't for this damn cell." You confess while he leans forwards, mirroring you. His hand on the glass as you slowly put yours against it, only being able to feel the cold surface much to your disappointment.
"Don't worry. I'll break you out, I'm working on it... after that we'll go on a little date." You promise making him smile to himself. Of course you already had plans for this, that's what made you so reliable for so long. His eyes not so subtly following down you body, "Suits look really good on you..." he added making you roll your eyes playfully "Might have to wear them more often if you like them that much, of course you gotta be in uniform too." He instantly turned red as you look down on him, you really hated how you couldn't grab him at that moment. Patience wasn't always your strength, but all in good time.
You suddenly fight back a laugh at the realization that Edward needed to be arrested and brought to Arkham to finally ask you out, yet the feeling of being with him made it all worth it.
Your eyes narrowed, finally coming back to the moment "The bombs. How long?" You suddenly asked as his smile widened "15 minutes, darling. You know you could think of every bomb exploding as how many lifetimes I'll cherish you. Every death being the eternities I'll spend with you."
"You're so cheesy, but I guess I'll be extending my stay then. Would hate to get my shoes wet on our first date." You chuckle as he continued it, more louder and ecstatic. His bottled up excitement finally reaching the surface.
Oh what a romantic night for you both.
___
"Master Bruce...I have some urgent news." Alfred spoke up while Bruce continued staring at his computer screens in his usual haze making the butler continue, "Riddler has escaped Arkham."
"How?" Bruce instantly asked sternly, turning to him before pulling up the news on his screen, Alfred looking on in silent worry. "There was a police report a couple of weeks ago... someone went in impersonating an attorney. At first they thought he was a crazed fan but now they suspect they might have something to with it."
"Any identity found on them?"
"Not yet but I scanned their face through every security cam footage around the city these past few years, it took a while but it recognized him in one. They were looking through several archives in a library again impersonating a high ranking officer. But my interest lies with the fact that he was looking at files on the Wayne family." Alfred pulled the video up then handed him a file full of the little scarce info on you.
"When was this?" He asked, flipping through the papers before looking up, "A couple of months before the video 'exposing' the Wayne family was released."
"Then that's not a new crazed fan. They been following him for a while." He stated putting the file on his desk, Alfred letting out a hum in thought, "Maybe one of his loyal followers from his personal account?"
Bruce stayed quiet looking at the black and white footage of you passing by the library entrance, your appearance and walk nonchalant, "No, Riddler has never done that with his followers...He's..." Bruce trailed off quietly, pausing the video as his eyes stared intensely at you, his mind racing back and fourth like he was connecting the dots and he quickly came to the realization.
"Care for context?" Alfred asked as soon Bruce slammed his fist at his desk suddenly. "It was always two- They were both working together, that explains how he got some of his info, the multiple licenses and passports, the timing of his attacks and appearances being short. All of it."
"So the Riddler has a shadow?" Alfred looked over to the stressed out younger man, "What are you going to do with this information, Master Bruce?"
"All we can really do is wait. They're not done with Gotham, until then I want everything on him." He pointed at you from the screen, his mission now changing to finding you and Edward before you pulled anymore strings.

Never Grew up
“Being Bruce's childhood friend has always been painful.”
Bruce Wayne x Male Reader
Word Count: 1034
Contains / Warnings: Angst/No comfort, Established friendship, also didn't notice how homoerotic I made detective stuff sound.
Bruce had invited you to his hideout after asking for some classified files you had access to, something he rarely did but his new mission called for all hands on deck and that included you, someone he knew to be outside of Gotham's corruption.
With that you were happily spending the entire day with him, helping him with deciphering codes, bouncing theories between each other as you both naturally slipped into a comfortable yet quick rhythm. Turning out results that would've made anyone say you were made to work with each other.
Even then you were able to crack a few jokes much to Bruce's deadpan face but that just made you even more determined to make him smile while still focusing on the job. It wasn't until you finally made the most painfully unfunny joke in your life that Bruce finally let out an auditable chuckle.
"Oh my God, that's what made you laugh- Out of everything? Your sense of humor is so broken." You looked up from your papers in disbelief as his face slipped back to it's usually expression, "That was a pity laugh."
"Bruce doesn't do pity laughs! Who are you, imposter?" You tease while poking him with a pen, the tips of his mouth tugging up. "I got specific taste in my comedy, I'll admit."
"I mean it was bad when we were kids but it must've deteriorated as you got older-" You stated before exchange the files you've been working on, looking over at each others work in silence, the room now being filled with the noise of papers being flipped and the scribbles of pens.
Your words still lingered in his mind, leading to a walk through memory lane. Memories of you playing as kids unknowing of the grim future that bled into teenagehood, it was at that time that he lost what little friends he had, yet you were the only one that stayed. Fighting to be by his side when everyone would have given up. He always hated remembering that time- all the horrible things he said in an attempt to push you away.
You noticed the taller man slowing down, soon setting his pen down making you nervously look around, before you could ask what was wrong he spoke up.
"You've been here... with me for a long time, haven't you?"
You anxiously placed the files down, all you attention on him now "Of course... You can't rid of someone like me easily. I stick around much to everyone's surprise." You gesture at yourself, before you could ramble on he interrupts you.
"Why?"
Was all he asked yet you could feel the weight of that simple question with his tone. You paused with furrowed brows "Uh well... I care for you and that's not something I feel often about others. We've been through hell- I guess we're both a couple of broken people stuck together by chance." He says quiet while looking down at you, taking a step closer as he whispers softly "You don't have to stay then. I don't want you to gain hope for someone like me, especially if it'll hurt you." "Hurt me? Oh Bruce- I knew exactly what I was signing up for when I started hanging around you." You let out a bittersweet laugh before it quickly died at the sight of his face in it's usual melancholy.
"There might be a day that you lose me." He states.
"I had that fear before, the closest I've felt was when you started isolated yourself. I felt that fear so intensely. But I'm happy I did because at that moment I decided you were worth keeping in my life." You glance up at him noticing his eyes trailing down your face only to fixate on your lips "I want you here with me...In someway."
"You're too good for me."
There was a moment of silence, the air almost becoming suffocating as you just stood still. Years of tension like this never made it any easier, underlying feelings always becoming clear as they came to the surface for a brief moment. Even then both of you never brought it up, almost like an unspoken rule. These moments where meant to be hidden, a secret between you both that just built up the longer you stood by his side.
He leaned forward making your breath hitched, lips so close yet never touching. You looked up at him with pleading eyes for a kiss, a kiss that would finally break years of meaningful stares, like a proper confession. But it didn't come as he turned his head, pulling away while you let out a shaky sigh.
"I know what I just said but...I can't do this. Not like this." You break the silence as Bruce glances at you before his eyes lock onto a wall, avoiding your gaze. You walk up to him, pulling him closer by his forearm as a desperate attempt to get his attention.
"We can't keep doing this, we can't keep talking like it's normal when we look at each other like that- when we almost kiss!" You scoff at him before raising your voice again when he doesn't respond, "At least acknowledge it!"
"You're the one that wanted to stay. I didn't ask you to."
You grow more frustrated by the second while he goes back to continuing his silence, not even bothering to look at you. You could feel yourself tearing up much to your embarrassment as your voiced trembled.
"Bruce, what even are we?"
"Just friends."
Was all he said, those two words hitting you like a bullet as you couldn't help but freeze, it took a while before you slowly started nodding in bitter acceptance, "Is that what you really want?"
"It's what I need." He states.
That was all you needed to hear, turning around before making your way to the elevator door hastily.
"Then fucking act like it." You slam the vintage gate, the noise echoing across the cave as Bruce stayed still. Fighting every urge in his body to run after you. A memory of your teenage self doing the same thing crossed his mind.
Almost as quick he had a bitter realization.
'We never grew up, did we?'
