聽This is a picture from the night I was attacked by the skunk. I tried to get a picture of it but as you can see it was very dark. I circled what I think might be it running behind my聽cabana.

Gardening books
聽This post is a kind 聽of product review of two gardening books I own and have read. The first one my favorite is called "gardening shortcuts how to really enjoy gardening"
Tumblr media
聽 It is quite a bit older than the other book but very helpful. My copy is a little bit faded now but they are still just as聽effective聽as if they had been taken today. 聽Still very clear and in good shape. the book includes tips for hard to manage soil, to how to optimize the amount of sunlight your plants get from whatever position they are in. It also includes a planting chart as well as growing season chart maps聽corresponding聽to how plants grow there and a short dictionary of gardening聽terms聽in the back. From the pictures in the book, you get the feeling that it was made to meet the needs of just flower gardeners, but practically everything in the book can be adapted to suit聽vegetable聽growers(like me). I would聽definitely聽recommend聽this book.
Tumblr media
聽 The other book "creating a garden" was not so helpful to me anyway. This book is much more geared toward people who are into landscaping and flower gardening without many actual gardening tips. It was still a very good book but not what I was looking for.I would聽recommend聽this book to anyone who is looking to improve the聽ascetics聽of their garden.

The why's of it all
聽If you've been following me for a while now you have probably wondered why I am so interested in gardening. there isn't just one answer to that question. I have my mom to thank mostly for my聽interest聽in plants. This is a聽hibiscus聽plant.
Tumblr media
聽 聽My mothers聽hibiscus聽plant to be exact she has had it for around about sixteen years (my age :D) I've grown up with this plant it's been with my聽family聽through moves 聽and new pets and is still growing strong. I always loved this plant, and whenever my mom would move it outside in the summer she would also plant a few other random plants and flowers in the garden. This is what first got me into planting and gardening it didn't matter to me what we were planting (it still doesn't really) I just loved burying the small dead looking seed, only to see it sprout into something bright green and full of life.
聽 In recent years I have also really gotten into organic food and vegetarianism. I myself am not a vegetarian but my sister is and I love to find new recipes to test on her and to share with my family. The idea of fresh food that you have grown yourself really excites me it just shows so much dedication and deep pride in what you do. I find it also helps bring people closer together through team work and the promise of super delicious food. Not to mention growing your own聽veggies聽can be cheaper.
聽I love the smell of germinating plants, like the smell of a green house in full bloom. I love to say that I have grown my own food. I love to see the results of a healthy plant when it produces it's first flowers/fruit. It always gives me a thrill and makes me feel proud knowing that I spent my time聽wisely聽and have produced something beautiful.
Happy gardening :) 聽

Tip
聽In some cases it is good to water your plants at night or before the sun comes out. The water droplets left on the plan can magnify the sun light giving your plant their equivalent to a sun burn.
This tip brought to you by my aunt :)
