My favourite thing about Abed Nadir is the fact that he is a HORRIBLE filmmaker.
Like I feel like when you think about autistic people, you think of people who are insanely good at their special interests and they’re bad at everything else. That’s the stereotype, and as an autistic person, I just kind of assumed that everyone else was just insanely good at their special interests.
But a special interest is just something you’re obsessed with. That doesn’t mean you’re good at it.
Abed cares about film as a medium so much that it is the way he processes and interprets reality. His opinions on movies and tv shows are thought out and long. He knows everything about everything when it comes to film.
And yet he’s absolute shit at actually doing it. With the exception of the documentary episodes, every piece of film we see from Abed is mediocre at best. He knows everything that goes into a good movie, but he can’t quite put the pieces together right.
And that’s why he’s the most relatable autistic character I’ve ever seen. He’s not some prodigy that can pull a movie out of his head in 5 seconds like it’s nothing. He’s just a guy who’s trying to get better at something. Give me more autistic characters that are completely mediocre at their special interests. Let me be autistic and also just a bit of a dumbass please

Taskmaster Teams and the Very Specific Vibes They Give Off (To Me)
Nish Kumar and Mark Watson: Coworkers who are also best friends. If Mark is honest, he’s feeling a lot of anxiety because Nish is the office clown who often doesn’t get his work done and Nish would have been fired by now if he wasn’t covering for him.
Jess Knappett and Kerry Godliman: An Auntie and her favorite niece bonding the week before the niece’s wedding.
Lolly Adefope, Joe Lycett, and Noel Fielding: Two younger siblings about to get roped into trouble by their cool older brother who will unrepentantly ditch them at the first opportunity.
Liza Tarbuck, Asim Chaudhry, and Tim Vine: The competent and overworked office admin assistant who is about to kill everyone because the men in the office never listen to her and two men in the office who never listen to her.
Joe Thomas and Sian Gibson: An Auntie and her favorite nephew who has asked her to go for a coffee because he’s fighting with his girlfriend and needs some advice.
James Acaster, Phil Wang, and Rhod Gilbert: (an inverted version of how I have seen them described before) A 50 year old man whose sole relationship with his adult nephews is pranking them and always taking it too far until one of the nephews punches him during the middle of family Christmas.
Daisy May Cooper and Richard Herring: A young pregnant woman who has come to stay with her Mum to get some help before the birth of her baby, only the baby has come early while the Mum is out of town on a business trip and now the step dad who she hates is going to be the one to take her to the hospital and be the one to help her during the birth.
Lee Mack and Mike Wozniak: Brothers in law. Their wives are sisters. They are at a family barbeque and are about to, while stone cold sober, try to make their babies wrestle.

Title: "Chocolatey Complications and Anarchistic Solutions"
Summary: "Britta puts her hand on Frankie’s thigh and frowns. “Come on, Franks; you won’t let me help organize Leonard’s funeral, you won’t let me give you my special brownies, and you won’t let me therapize you. What can I do? I want to help.” She gives Frankie sad googly eyes and starts stroking her thigh. “Administration is hard. You’re swamped in paperwork. And I...I know how much the...revolution”—she almost whispers that part—“has been stressing you out. Let me help you.”
As much as Frankie’s trying to stay cognizant, she’s barely hearing Britta’s words, too focused on the logistics of removing the 100 pizza slices stuck to the ceiling of Study Room F. She sucks in some snot that’s dripped down her nose.
Britta’s face scrunches up and she takes her hand off of Frankie’s thigh. “Ew.”
Frankie gives her a tired glare.
"I mean, um, your bodily functions are completely normal and are nothing to be ashamed of and I love you?” Britta nervously smiles, looking like a cat that was just scolded for sinking her claws into her human’s legs.
Frankie briefly looks at Britta, back down and sighs. “A hot chocolate would be nice."
(While a revolution at Greendale majorly stresses out Frankie, Britta makes her a hot chocolate in an attempt at cheering her up. You can guess how well all that goes.)'

Some fic and writing prompts resources
I've seen a few people over the past week or so looking for prompts or struggling with writer's block, so I thought it might be helpful to share all of the prompt stuff I have saved in my fic writing bookmarks folder. I want to put together a more thorough post that talks about different ways to use prompts and such to help with writer's block to post to the Jeff/Annie Resources tumblr, but that's something I'm going to take some time to really craft, so I'm just going to post some of the links I have here for now.

This is a fun d100 chart where you either roll a d100 or put '100' into a random number generator, and you use the keywords the given number provides to craft your story.
This is just a nice site that has 40+ writing prompts of different types
Random prompt, dialogue, line, famous quotes and first line generators are GREAT tools, especially when you're trying to use prompts to get through writer's block, whether you're using them as prompts to put into the fic, or just as a prompt of inspiration. I don't know if prompts tables are still big these days, but they were really big in the days when livejournal dominated fandom, and they're extremely useful, whether used in the generally intended way - completing each one in order - or as a set of numbered prompts to choose from. And here are just a few random number generators. These can be used for anything from picking a random prompt number, to being given a random amount of words you have to write, to getting an episode number for a show so you can make yourself write a post-ep for it, all kinds of stuff like that. 1 2 3 4

Short Film
Hi, I'm trying to write a short film about a woman who decides to block someone on all their social media after getting paranoid over a text. While this is partially based on a couple things I've done, I've found that the thought processes displayed are similar to some thought processes seen in BPD, and so want to ask for some opinions from people with BPD about the representation. Britta Unfiltered 1x1 (”The Britta Perry Show”)

Abed awkwardly pats her on the back. “I think we should get back to packing up the boxes.”
“Wait, before we do that,”—he looks at her—“I wanted to ask about my lack of character arc. I was just wondering, uh, what should I do about it?” Britta has a look of vulnerability on her face. Her eyes are wet from the tears, and her arms are crossed low over her stomach as she avoids eye contact with Abed.
He shrugs. “I don’t know. I don’t know what your character progression is supposed to be. You’re a wild card to me. You don’t really fit into the female stereotypes created by the white, straight men in the TV and movies that I’ve grown up with. Maybe that’s why I haven’t been able to completely figure you out—although in the last few years I’ve started to realize that even if we often fall into certain patterns, I haven’t completely figured anyone out. And by the end, your arc kind of fell by the wayside and got lost with everything else going on. Maybe that’s why you’re having trouble now. You’re not so much a character as you are just a flawed human.” Britta looks down and her lip starts to quiver. “And that’s what sets you free.” She furrows her brows and looks back up at Abed, confused. He continues. “Humans aren’t bound by rigid arcs. They aren’t bound by a story circle. And they aren’t bound by the shackles of dramatic convention. This applies to you more than it applies to any of the rest of us.”
Britta seems unsure. “Abed, what are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying that you’re free, Britta. You get to choose your arc. You get to choose where you go next.” Abed looks directly into her eyes. “What do you want, Britta?”
