Birdflash Zine Contributor Applications

Open until May 18th 2025

Here is the link for the contributor and moderator applications! Please feel free to apply to as many roles as you would like, just be aware that you might only get some of those roles!

Rules for Contributors:

You MUST have a discord account that is provided with your application. If you don't have one you will not be able to be a contributor. If you have other social media you would like to share please share that as well we will reach out to you via DMs if you get the position.

You must be over 16 for SFW and over 18 for NSFW contributions. By submitting this form you assert that you are at least 16 years old.

Guidelines for the application:

If you are applying as a writer, please submit at least 2 stories/excerpts from stories that are 200-500 words long. These do not need to be birdflash, but DC is preferred. If you apply for a writer of the NSFW portion please submit the same in NSFW writing.

If you are applying as an artist please submit 2 full colour pieces that you've done. If you are planning on, or wanting to make a comic, please have at least ONE of those pieces be a comic in it. If you are applying as an NSFW artist they should include NSFW art. Pieces with two characters are preferred but not required.

If you are applying as a merch creator please submit either two merch designs, two images of fully completed pieces of merch, or both.

If you are applying to be a beta/editor for the zine please provide two works or work excerpts of 200-500 words that contain the before you betaed version and the after you betaed version.

If you are applying to be a cover artist then please submit either a cover design you did or an image of something with your cover design on it.

Note: no one in this zine will be getting paid except for a free copy of the finished work. All proceeds will go to a charity that will be picked by the contributors and moderators after the contributors have been decided.

Take Two!

Based on the votes we've decided to make a new sideblog. If we get the other zine blog back we'll use both interchangeably, but if we don't we don't have to wait for nothing (also it turned out it took way less time than I thought to update this new one to match the old) one sad thing is that the URL isn't available even though tumblr just removed it out of nowhere. :(

It's late, but I wrote something for BirdFlash Week 2025 (courtesy of @birdflashweek) Day 3 prompt ID Reveal. I absolutely had to jump on it; the drama, the intrigue, the love! I had such a fun time writing this, so I hope y'all enjoy!

Dick loves Wally, and Wally loves Dick... well, he loves Nightwing. Dick would rather let Wally know who he is under the mask before jumping into a relationship, even if it scares him to no end to do so. For Wally, he'll share that part of himself.

BirdFlash Week 2025 Day 3: ID Reveal

Dick loves Wally. Not a big deal, no earth-shattering revelations there. They’ve been friends since Wally joined Barry as Kid Flash, and they’ve been glued to each other’s side ever since. He’s always known that his friendship with Wally felt different, too; not like with Donna, where he feels they may as well be two halves of the same soul, and not like with Roy, where they’ll be tearing each other apart one moment and building each other back up the next. No, this is something… well, different. A familiar echo of the kind of love he’s felt before, a love that blossoms in vibrant colours; not any larger, or any deeper, but shifted into a new form.

He’d been content to hold it close to his chest. He keeps all his cards close, so what’s one more to his hand? Except, Dick keeps catching Wally’s gaze lingering on him longer and longer, and when the rest of them are out of costume Dick swears he can see Wally’s face flush when he’s caught. His smile also seems softer, fonder in a way Dick knows is reserved for whoever Wally has fallen for. And it’s him. Wally has fallen for him. A perfect alignment of their care for each other that he should have leapt at the second he pieced the puzzle together, but…

But he can’t. Any time he thinks of taking this chance, a small voice in the back of his head reminds him you’re too scared. It’s not fear of watching another relationship crumble, though, or of being left alone in the aftermath. No, he’s terrified of telling the truth.
