“GIF Economy #2
Last week we visited Leeds and Sheffield to meet with practitioners, artist-run projects and directors. In Sheffield we also met with the final year BA undergrads from Fine Art at Hallam University. Enacting a series of ‘solo shows’, in an attempt to perform the very reciprocity, independence and acute empowerment of which we proclaim from our research into artist-run activity, the students carved a collection of axe heads and arrows out of clay, before sequentially installing an artwork of their own amongst the 'Mesolithic' tools. Each student receives unique documentation of their work for future applications, plus crediting ‘GIF Economy #2′, Doggerland, to their own CV’s. Thus, each of the participants had their own solo show within this setting, an action to be confirmed and affirmed by the presence of this GIF.”
My work in this show is the final frame of the gif of myself holding a phone.

Larger watermarked version of logo for my art and design pages. Also versions in black and white, as seen on my e-business card page.

I’ve made a logo for my art/design work. It’s my name (Liam) put into a geometric style shape. I found the original design I did of these in an old notebook of mine from about 6 years ago (keep your old books!) What do people think?

Buffering v2.0 Sculpture, 2016 Sheffield Institute of Art, Sheffield, January, private view 19th 6-8pm.
Description: Meant to represent a blank canvas, white plastic on wood, 1.5m by 80cm presented with house plant and sketchbooks. Work is embedded with NFC tags which wirelessly send programmed data and commands to smartphone devices. I have programmed these to open some of my digital art paintings, YouTube videos, text, and a link to a secondary Netart work. Work is to partially represent the lack of materiality for digital works. Digital art exists online and belongs in its natural habitat, to put it in a real gallery would only make it a lesser version. This self-made canvas acts as a sculptural hyperlink to selected digital artworks, and all future documentation of the work will be post-processed to show digital art on the 'canvas' of this piece and various other excessive edits.
 Some variations of documentation for work;

A screenshot of a Google image search in the mobile app. While Internet connection is unstable, image thumbnails load as block colours taking hue from the dominant or average colour of the source image. This screenshot is then put into instagram and had a filter applied to add false texture and gradients, with almost all other editing effects used to warp colours further.
