Golden Milk!This variation on a traditional drink from India’s Ayurveda Medicine is good for whatever ails you, and good even when nothing ails you! Loaded with health promoting antioxidants, Golden Milk is good for your cells, your immune system, digestive system, heart health, blood sugar levels, mood, and even brain function! Golden Milk is a great winter health remedy to help keep you well. It is very soothing evening drink that supports your immune system while you sleep!INGREDIENTS 2 cups milk of choice 1 inch fresh turmeric root, peeled, thinly sliced/diced, or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric 1/2 inch fresh ginger rhizome, grated, thinly sliced/diced, or 1 teaspoon ground ginger 1 teaspoon coconut oil, avocado oil, or olive oil 1 cinnamon stick, or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 star anise (optional) Pinch ground black pepper, or to taste Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional) 1-2 teaspoons local honey, agave syrup, or maple syrup, to taste (optional)INSTRUCTIONS Combine all ingredients except sweetener in saucepan, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring often. (simmering reduces bitterness.) Remove from heat, cover and let steep for 5-10 minutes to let the herbs infuse well. Strain through a fine mesh sieve. Sweeten to taste. Serve warm. (Can be made in advance, kept in the refrigerator, and reheated before drinking.)Quick Version: Put ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a small saucepan and heat for 5 minutes over medium heat until hot, not boiling. Strain through a fine mesh sieve. Sweeten to taste.
 Serve warm.
