My queers, we really need to put the "no men" thing away. Men are not inherently bad. There are queer men. There are questioning men. There's men that are just plain cool. Denying these men a space at our table is not helping - except the TERFs. I just came off the back of reading a transphobe gleeful rant about the need to have pride without men - They of course mean me. This kind of stuff is damaging to me and I really need us all to take a step back and maybe kill this "men dni, men not allowed" stuff. What you mean is "no men who are going to do mean stuff to me." And frankly those men won't give a shit about that kind of boundary.

But I promise you there's a fleet of good honest men who will see that and be sad they're not allowed in your version of queer spaces.

I was wondering why miles isn’t being subject to the same level of fandom mischaracterisation as pavitr and hobie before realising that he’s at least american and that the experience of an indian and black british kid respectively are so alien and unempathic to US-centric fandoms that they have to be moulded into an unrecognisable blob of westernised yaoi-fied tropes before people can even begin engaging with them on a personal level

i am asexual as well as aromantic, but i’ve never really felt at home in asexual spaces

asexual spaces are often (not always, but a lot of the time) filled with asexual alloromantics, which means that they’re very romance-oriented spaces most of the time

asexual alloromantics often use things like ‘we can still feel romantic attraction’ or ‘we can still love romantically’

and i’m just over here like ‘not me’ because i’m also aromantic

i think that’s a big reason why i prefer my aromantic identity over my asexual one, and why i feel my aromantic identity is much more important than being asexual
