Uplifting energies will be conjured by a diverse group of artists in Wynwood during Art Basel Miami this year. CHASM.nyc partners with the all new Center for The Higher Self, a community healing playground built to expand consciousness through self exploration and sound. CHASM: Elevation features a weeklong, immersive visual art installation inside of the new space, and a day-to-night music and art event on Saturday, December 4th. Faeries, sound healers, performance artists, and VJs converge for a femme-centric mini fest focused on grounding, healing and playful exploration. A garden of pleasures and delights, CHASM: Elevation serves as the alternative to Basel week madness, presenting an alcohol-free elixir bar.
Center for The Higher Self is a space that promotes physical, mental and celestial healing. A space to connect a community of people who are also working towards growth and expansion. A space to hea and vibrate together. Launched in 2021 by Miami native Lauren Martinez, the Center represents the cumulation of a deep inner holistic journey, which the internationally recognized dj and producer began on early in life. From an event space to classes in yoga, reiki, meditation, sound healing, and breathwork, Center for The Higher Self is excited to debut its offerings to the Wynwood community.
CHASM.nyc is the curatorial project of sculptor, performer and musician Julia Sinelnikova aka The Oracle. Center for the Higher Self - Founder’s Journey
Spirituality has been a continuous part of Lauren Martinez’s life since she was a young girl. Navigating other realms of consciousness has always been a constant for her. But it wasn’t until 2017 that her true calling began to take form. Prior to that, Lauren was an internationally traveling dj & producer based in New York for over a decade. Being recognized by MixMag as a force to look out for, she built momentum for herself in the industry, releasing acclaimed music and simultaneously launching her own record label. It was at this time, at the height of her career, that the universe had other plans.
Lauren’s health took a dark turn, living with chronic pain and depression, she knew things couldn’t continue this way. After vowing to become sober, she began to dive headfirst in every healing modality she found. From acupuncture, to reiki, yoga, plant medicine and shadow work, she pulled back each layer that was holding her down and her vision become more clear. Her calling was to create an all encompassing healing community, where people could come learn about and receive some of the services that helped her. The Center For The Higher Self was born: A place to receive services and also surround yourself with a supportive community of seekers and healers.

In 2018 she released her debut spoken word album HELLO BLU3BIRD: “a journey to FREEDOM as told by SPIRIT,” produced by VHVL and released volume one of the complimentary poetry & photography book to the series in 2020.
As a visual artist, Mariama creates expressionist abstract mixed media works in the form of photography, video and painting celebrating her love & connection to the natural elements, spirit guides & symbols; predominantly in hues of BLU3, honoring all that the color blue represents. Her work is an ongoing offering of love, peace and comfort to all who need it.
Bryan Kasenic
For the past 18 years, The Bunker New York has led the way for American techno by bringing together hundreds of artists from all over the world. More than a mere techno party, The Bunker unites diverse sounds from across the electronic music spectrum, connecting the dots between house, techno, experimental sounds, and much more. The Bunker New York began as a party, grew up into a record label, and has become a collaborative community, fostered by founder and curator Bryan Kasenic since its launch in 2003.
In 2020, Bryan founded a new label, Going In, dedicated to long-form musical compositions geared towards meditation, psychedelic ceremonies, yoga, massage, or simply spacing out and going inside yourself. His set at Chasm: Elevation will be geared towards deep listening and healing sounds.

JHVH Wants to Know Why you "Defriended" Him
JHVH is a Brooklyn-based electro-pop producer who has been with CHASM since the beginning, bursting into the mainstream when his audiovisual performance at our first show in 2016 was covered by The New York Times. After releasing a viral music video last year and touring the West Coast, JHVH is releasing his latest single “DEFRIENDED.” Preview the track, now available on Spotify, here!
Purchase track or stream on your favorite platform: https://song.link/defriended
We caught up with the artist at his Bushwick loft to find out what’s coming up.
People might remember you for the major moment you had with the release of “F*****D UP ELECTION” a couple years back. The video got a ton of views. What has changed in your songwriting practice since then?
I think creating the parody song helped me really hone my writing into a more condensed format better suited for pop music, something under three and a half minutes. I was writing very long, drawn-out, emotional ballads before, but it really is best to keep the pop tunes short, sweet, and simple.
Fun story — I actually wrote the parody the day after the 2016 election, and I happened to meet Lady Gaga that same day at a bar in the West Village. There's actually a photo of me on her Instagram from that day. I sang her the chorus and asked if I could do a parody and Mother Monster actually gave me her blessing.
“DEFRIENDED” combines rich, lush vocals with an upbeat jungle vibe and a shimmering pop melody. Talk about some of your musical influences for the production of the track.
I'm very influenced by the current wave of tropical pop, so of course there's the front runners like Justin Bieber and Khaled. Fifth Harmony was a big inspiration, as well as the PC Music roster. But I wanted to take that fun, airy, summery sound—which is not something I would normally reach for—and make it my own.
We heard you worked with Brooklyn’s preeminent EDM producer Gosteffects to master the track.
Yes, it was a great experience! He's a great guy. Unfortunately for him, I'm very demanding in the studio when it comes to the editing process. I honestly don't know how he put up with me.
Earlier this year you toured on the West Coast. Was it different than performing in NYC?
The only big difference was that I couldn't perform with the two dancers and full visual setup that I run when I do shows in New York. The energy, though, was very much the same and I can't wait to go back and perform there.
What should we look out for next from JHVH?
I'm working on some fun visual content for "Defriended" with Prismatis, a Brooklyn artist who specializes in 3D visuals. Be on the lookout for that, and more singles down the road!

Tonight, NYC "reality artist" Signe Pierce transformed the new Galeria Melissa Soho space (500 Broadway) into a melting infinity mirror with her projected visuals and live performance. Working with lighting specialist Nitemind and projection mappers Lightbox, Pierce activated various corners and mirrored rooms with dripping holographic imagery. Three LED-lit dancers accompanied her as she performed a catchy, grinding dance track within her projections, with her signature megaphone amplifying her vocals. Pierce opened for NYC rap treasure Princess Nokia, who brought the event to a culmination, chanting "don't f--k with my energy" into the dense crowd.
