A few years ago, I was a wistful young woman who, like any other girls out there, wanted to be rescued from the "castle of loneliness" by a daring handsome prince... and so I waited like forever in my own Cinderella world... the four corners of my bedroom being my own cozy fireplace where I'd spend the wee hours of the night dreaming of the day he'd come. Finally, he came... a prince from another kingdom, or should I say from another country not far away from mine... and so the fairy tale has come true. The only difference is that this is not a typical fairy tale from a bedtime story, this is the tale of an ordinary Filipina named Chris and an ordinary Korean called Khan who met a couple of years ago, became friends, fell in love, parted ways, were brought back together by fate, got married (Thrice!), and are now living the day to day adventures of being a Filipina wife to a Korean husband and being a Korean husband to a Filipina wife.

Valentine’s Day in Korea
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! How was your Valentine’s Day? Did you receive any chocolates? My Valentine’s Day has been non-existent since I came to Korea, not because Koreans don’t celebrate the day of hearts. They do… but the way they celebrate Valentine’s Day here is different from how it’s observed in other countries. Let me tell you more about Korean Valentine and other celebrations of love…

Let’s Make Japchae (잡채: Stir-fried Glass Noodles/Korean Pancit)
Seollal (설날: Lunar New year) is one of the most important traditional holidays in Korea. Our family doesn’t perform elaborate ancestral rites, but we have a special meal in my parents-in-law’s house. We bow to the in-laws to honor them and wish them a long and healthy life. We also give them money gift. The children in the family bow to us, the adults, and we “must” give them money. It’s just like…

ALL OF US ARE DEAD Pop-up Event in Seoul
Are you a fan of “ALL OF US ARE DEAD”? Last weekend, we went to a pop-up event that features this new hit zombie series. The event was held at Shinsegae Central City in Seoul. Strict COVID-19 protocols were followed and it wasn’t as congested as other events I’ve been to. We enjoyed taking pictures with the lifesize zombie standees and taking part in some of the activities. ERRATA: The numbers…

Celebrating 2022 in Korea
#lifeinkorea #koreanfilipinocouple #koreanhusband #filipinawife Happy 2022!!! ^^How did you celebrate your New year? This is our second year in our new home, and I wanted to celebrate it with my husband “the Filipino way”. Hippest Cafés at Seongsu-dong, the Brooklyn of Seoul
One of the things to love about Korea is Koreans’ love for coffee and aesthetics. I love exploring Seoul and discovering new cafés. It’s a form of relaxation for me; however, popular coffee shops in Seoul usually get crowded on weekends. Enjoying a cup of green tea latte @ Daelim Changgo Thanks to a friend who took us around Seongsu-dong, I now have a new favorite hangout in Seoul. At night,…

Lotte World Mall’s Seoul Sky
We spent the day at the tallest skyscraper in Korea. The 360-degree panoramic view of Seoul is stunning. If you plan to go to Korea (which will soon open group tours for vaccinated travelers), don’t miss visiting the Lotte World Tower’s Seoul Sky Observatory located in Jamsil. The best time to go there is on a sunny afternoon, so you can wait for the sunset or stay for the breathtaking night…

Herb Island: Korea’s Fairy-tale Land
We visited a fairy-tale like place in Pocheon City called Herb Island. It’s a perfect place for couples who like to take looong walks while being captivated by scenic views. It’s also a great place for families. There are tons of activities and parks for children to enjoy… but the area is huge, so make sure that your kids can handle the walk, or you can just choose an itinerary for a day. We…

K-drama Filming Location: Changdeok Palace
K-dramas such as “Kingdom”, “Jewel in the Palace”, “The Crowned Clown”, “Rooftop Prince”, etc. are just some of the dramas that were partly filmed in Changdeokgung. Changdeokgung, however, is more than just a Korean drama filming location. It is one of South Korea’s UNICEF Cultural Heritage Sites and a favorite residence of many kings of the Joseon Dynasty. Find out why in this vlog. Because of…

Things to Think about Before Having Surgery in Korea
Tumblr media
A couple of months ago, I underwent surgery in Korea. Although I’m used to being a patient here, that was the first time I stayed in the hospital for what seemed like an eternity (a week, actually). Let me share my experience on being a foreign inpatient for those of you who may be contemplating on going under the knife in the land of the morning calm.

Dear Newbie Myeonuri,                You must be feeling nervous, uncertain of what tomorrow is going to be like. You’ve probably heard from other myeonuris what a pain in the arse Chuseok and Seollal are for us married women in Korea. I’ve been a myeonuri for eight years now, and let me confirm what you’ve heard from the others… sorry to break it to you, but you’re…

Simple Halloween Activites and Lessons
Simple Halloween Activites and Lessons
Halloween is not as popular in Korea as it is in other countries, but some hagwons and  schools here hold Halloween parties and festivals for the students. Halloween is one of my favorite school events to prepare for because there are a lot of activities that I can incorporate in my lessons. I’m going to share some of these activities.
Let’s get the ball rolling! ^^

Ang Traje de Boda sa Ukay-ukay PART 4
PART 4: Ang Sumpa
