I’m not gonna lie that scene where the guy who was in love with Sasha freaks out on gabbi was actually way more interesting to me than pretty much anything they ever did with Sasha when she was alive

I understand why people are so annoyed by gabbi and I do remember I stopped reading the manga because it ground to a halt to pivot to those kids in Marley, but it’s really not that bad if you’re watching the show all at once now that it’s over. It sucks to wait weeks for new episodes only to be assaulted by completely unrelated shit about annoying children, but that’s solved by not having to wait for anything. It’s also not like a traditional tv series where they have a set runtime that chose to waste it on random new characters. I’m sure if Isayama had more to say about the main characters then the manga just would’ve been longer.

And it’s also kind of justified as a natural expansion of the world since the whole show is about finding out what’s going on outside the walls. In fact it kind of sounds like the world outside the walls was different from the world some of you dreamed of. Different from the world in Armin’s book. Like maybe when you found out humanity was alive outside the walls, you were disappointed.

Fiction will always b like “it’s a worse punishment for this character to live and be in prison forever and think about what they did than for them to be killed” and it’s bullshit 99% of the time but I think eren jaeger is the one and only character for whom that literally would’ve been SO absolutely fucking true. If they’d found a way to cancel titan powers without killing him and stuck him in a jail cell instead he would’ve just been completely out of his mind bashing his head into the walls and munching on himself like a dog who lost his shit at the pound.
