K so there are flaws that y/n has that arent really bad personality traits because the medium is supposed to be indulgent in that way 

And then there are character flaws you should be giving your characters that are actually flaws. I don’t mean, ‘she lets people walk all over her’ I mean ‘she lets people walk all over her so she can hold it against them later and because of her twisted world view she assumes she’s being hurt when she isn’t and uses it against those people as well’ or ‘he hurts people close to him when they deserve it’ vs ‘he hurts people close to him when they’re actively reaching out because he’s hurting and he wants to hurt them too’

Exactly the way you write male ones. Treat them the same. The beauty of it is, even if you write shit male characters too, at least it’s clear you don’t discriminate.

alright, as much as every writeblr jokes about never doing work and making memes instead of writing, i think its important to acknowledge that we all do work hard on our WIPs. We write and put in the effort, sow our seeds to see the outcome. You guys all work hard and as much as the jokes are funny yall shouldnt sell yourselves short.

I love infodumps and think they’re necessary to any tale with more than the most basic plot.

This right here. They just need to be done strategically. I also don't think I've ever had anyone tell me not to infodump unless the advice was geared toward success in sales, which is never what you should strive for. People interested in the lore are gonna eat that shit up.

Infodumps can be really interesting and engaging if you do em right. And once again, write the story you want to read and pay no mind to people who tell you otherwise.

sometimes you need to step back and let your view of life and the world shift before it clicks into place

Sometimes having a writing slump isn’t the worst thing in the world, because you know that when you pull yourself out of there, you will write like everything holy possessed you.

IDK who needs to hear this but (I certainly did) : A chapter is not required to be 2000-4000 words in length (or whatever 'reasonable' amount it is in your head.) A chapter ends where you feel comfortable ending it. You make your own rules!

Try plotting by putting very specific timestamps on each event, not just the date and year but the hour and the minute. I’m not really sure why but this just motivates me more. Happy writing!
