so lately I've been seeing a lot of posts saying "separate the art from the artist" and while i understand where it stems from and i don't think you're necessarily a bad person for listening to controversial artists, hell i listen to msi and McCafferty, i don't think there's truly a way to do that.

No matter what you do, the art still belongs to it's artist and the artist is what makes the art relevant. That's not to say you should absolutely stop listening to them. i just believe we shouldn't just ignore what they did in favour of enjoying their art. I think we should make it known what they did and that information to be easily available out there. And we should have discussions about it. Because knowing why they're bad minimises the harm while we are in the fandom or whatever.

Because just saying you don't support an artist while you profit them doesn't make it ethical and it'll never be completely ethical because at the end of the day you're keeping that artist relevant. i think we should work on making as ethical as we possibly can. And sure, it would be perfect if everyone just stopped listening to them completely, but people get emotional connections with art and a good song is a good song. So really i get it. We should just work on not directly profiting them.

i just think you shouldn't do it in a way that gives them money, like buying merch. You could always pirate their stuff or make your own posters and such. DIY is always a good idea.

Modern college au- marauders and co

Let's start with the black brothers

Regulus:

°｡he is a trans man (ftm)

°｡he is gay

°｡he has chronic pain and should use crutches and knee braces (due to an illness plus the accident, both going untreated)

°｡he often does not use his mobility aids and falls flat on his face

°｡he is half french and lived in France until he was five so he didn't speak much English when he started school

°｡he was mama's precious boy until his grades started dropping

°｡he probably is autistic but is undiagnosed

°｡He shares an apartment with sirius (he has the big bed/bedroom while sirius sleeps in the office)

°｡he loves astronomy

°｡his major is philosophy

°｡ bffs with barty (since high school). Something may be going on with them , not even they know what they are at this point.

°｡Regulus seems all mean and rude but once he sees an animal he is the most caring person ever. He connects with them on better than humans. He has a particular interest in cats

Sirius:

°｡he uses any pronouns (but usually uses he/him)

°｡he thought he was bisexual but turns out he's gay

°｡his is an art student (you can tell by the state of their apartment

°｡he is twins with regulus (they may not be identical twins but if it weren't for their different styles you wouldn't be able to tell them apart)

°｡is way overprotective over Regulus and coddles him constantly

°｡his favourite activity: annoying "reggie" as he likes to call him (because Regulus despises it)

°｡A close second: getting tattoos by his good friend marlene

°｡sirius is an absolute dog person and he is planning on stealing his uncle's dog "paddy", short for padfoot

°｡he is a tattoo artist

°｡Sirius hates barty even though barty is Regulus best friend and barty has made a spot for himself in their friend group

okay so modern era college au of the marauders era characters

✮ Where sirius and Regulus are moving in together into a small apartment (regulus of couse gets the bigger bed while Sirius sleeps in the small office on a tein size bed)

✮ In the same building, on the next floor, barty and James moved in just last week. And what if even though regulus and barty have been best friends (or boyfriends?x) since high school, Regulus has never met james (barty childhood bestie)?

✮ on the ground floor lives oliver, the landlord's nephew, but he very chill and willing to turn a blind eye when they break rules. What if he keeps find regulus and james at their worst?

(oliver is in fact inspired by Micheal holden but i don't think I'll do him justice)

✮ Meanwhile a panicking evan because he can't ask his parents for money, but he doesn't have much left and can't afford rent alone. Plus, he doesn't want to stay in the nasty dorms alone. Who does he end up with

✮ pandora moves in with lily, a girl she met in class, but they are avoiding eachother like the plague in their shared apartment and when they were actually together they didn't speak to eachother. And here was pandora thinking lily actually seemed nice in class

✮ Marlene and dorcas being in an established relationship and just watching the drama and the tension from literally everyone else

°｡remus is going to be in this as well as peter, mary

°｡everybody goes to Hogwarts university
