Hello, my good peeps, and happy Webcomic Day! It brings me so much joy to see people enthusiastically sharing their little corners of the community and want to offer mine. I have been working for over 7 years documenting stories that the webcomic medium has to offer. I keep track of everything from the basic info publishing platforms and genre to more the more subjective like lgbt+ representation and content warnings.

I've been involved with many a community building project over the years like discords, virtual cons, and the Library of Congress actively uses my database and this very tumblr to document stories! I currently have a new major project I'm hoping to give more details on soon so keep a lookout for that.

I love working with creators and readers alike so I try to offer a waypoint to begin building their experience. If you want to see everything the Webcomic Library is involved in and ways to support the project such as submitting series or donating time and money I have a full linktree to help you out.

Also shoutout to the incredible Halftone Hospital creations by Victoria Douglas! They made the half-tone pattern I used in this comic! Highly recommend checking them out!

hi there

i've got a few indie comics projects, lemme show em off here!

first of all my award-nominated horror minicomic, Soul Searching!

This minicomic has three (3!) accordion comics which all store nicely in the front of the Vat Booklet, which is itself a 5-page comic! All telling the tragic story of a scientist who is told he has no soul, and so vivisects himself in order to prove that there's one inside him. You can buy it on my website!

Second, you have my senior thesis from last year, Killer App (chapter one)! which tells the story of a social media company which has been stealing peoples souls! Just like the real kind! Its 22 pages of dark comedy goodness! Also available in my store!

And last (but not least) my Webcomic, Psychadelta 2000!! Its a webcomic about transhumanism, queer identity, kitschy seaside gift shops, 00's music culture, quantum mechanics, street gangs, and space rocks! It's barely started and was on hiatus but is starting up again next week, and is available for FREE on Tapas.io!

As a burgeoning indie cartoonist i am S T R U G G L I N G, I work a day job full time and often barely have time between shifts to even consider making more art, but I keep at it because its what I love! I just hope that someday I can make enough from it that I can at least reasonably stop working full-time. ^^ And every little sale, every single new eyes on my work, helps towards that!!

I am being so serious when I say: if you have the financial and time privilege to get a group of friends together and make an indie project, PLEASE do. Indie games, indie animations, indie comics etc etc

the art industries are kind of in the shitter. It’s not so much because of AI (though that doesn’t help) but because studios just aren’t hiring people and funding projects anymore. People who’ve been in the industry for decades are finding themselves struggling, and once you have a mortgage or kids it’s harder to do something as risky as making something on your own.

completing projects is hard. it takes a lot of time and effort, and most people can’t afford it. so if you CAN afford to make art, even at the risk of no financial gain, I strongly encourage you to be as resilient as you can. We’re at a point where these industries are not going to turn around by themselves, and waiting for jobs to open up again in order to get experience and portfolio work might not be realistic.

people have been making art and telling stories longgggg before we were getting paid for it, and people aren’t going to stop just because no one has hired them to do so.

for everyone else: support indie artists when you can!!!! That person who made that cool indie game or youtube animation or webcomic might be doing this full time! your support might be the only reason they’re able to keep doing it.
